Amendable Stake of Life Back In School

Schooling life- a main pursuit to learn,
Is surrounded by various impairments:
As much as catching fun-fill cruises, spurn!

Easier said than done- taking the right turn;
Good enough to measure apt adjustments,
Schooling life- a main pursuit to learn.

Goals avoid suffering consequential burn;
Been on phone longer than reading confronts-
As much as catching fun-fill cruises, spurn!

Aims widen scopes to balance grades concern
"Phone-'let there be light;' book- darkness affronts"
Schooling life- a main pursuit to learn.

Objectives object what football games yearn,
Both on field and view centre attachments,
As much as catching fun-fill cruises, spurn!

Late night matches during exams, pattern
Crying-read sleepy eyes' grace advancements...
Schooling life-a main pursuit to learn,
As much as catching fun-fill cruises, spurn!

Premium Member Not a Snake But My Reputation At Stake

Wow, a 2nd camping trip,
Now please don’t flip,
How on earth did I agree,
After the snake and me,
My husband asked so nicely,
And explained precisely
Where we would go,
Not to the bush,
Where a snake lay in ambush!
So hitched up our boat,
To take to Loskop dam
It was the Easter weekend,
Campers began to descend,
We arrived it was almost night,
Hubby sent up our 5 star camp site,
Started our braai late,
Which was to be my embarrassing fate!
We ate heartily and enjoyed
A cariff of wine,
During our campsite dine.
Time for a shower,
Take note of our campsite number
Hubby said, for they all look alike
At night,
And please take this empty
Bottle and fill it with water.
Showered, filled the bottle,
Nervous, had to find the ablutions
in the dark,
Carrying a full bottle that looked like wine,
I got strange looks, wanted to scream
It isn’t mine,
And in any case,
This bottle has no wine!
Each camp site looked the same,
To find my husband was my only aim!
It was an embarrassing situation,
All I felt was a feeling of desolation!
Thought each Range Rover was ours,
I might as well have been on Planet Mars,
It felt as if I had been away hours!
Had not even taken my phone
Had to stop at a camp side and asked
If I could please loan
Their cell to make a call,
That is when I tripped and had a fall,
I called my husband in tears,
He realized immediately what had happened,
Which was one of his fears,
Came and helped me up,
As he was only two camp sites away,
It was my pride that was hurt,
Especially when a passing camper began to flirt,
This was going to be my last camping trip ever,
I exclaimed to hubby, a little pert!

Book: Radiant Verses: A Journey Through Inspiring Poetry

The Journey of a Greedy Man

It's a pity to know
That you give away the city;
not out of courtesy for the need
but for the currency out of greed.

One day you will repent
running behind money;
cutting your ties with a knife
drifting away from your honey
being alone in life.

You will cry in dry
No one won't even wave you a bye
or offer you a fish in a dish
It's never too late to realise
That you have a sweet mate

In an ounce of penny
you'll be pounced
as your haughtiness will get bounced
Don't feel flattered;
Else your pride will get shattered!

You'll be shake off by a rake
Your greed will take you on streets
Your end will be in a dig with a pig!

Sweep Stake

Floridians love a palm tree
With fronds as pretty as can be
Along came Ian
Blowin' and peein'
And now there's nothing else to see

Medius Aevum (Burnt At the Stake)

The light was brief
on that ' figured leaf '
when man trembled
to the outer spheres,
that once made keep
when the vault was deep
in the omen years ;
the insane rage
of the median age
for a heretic's life,
when the Abbott, knew
the souls, that flew
from such frightful ken,
and thereupon to Acheron
in skeins o'er the fen.
......................................................................................

(Old Ely, England. In such times it was believed
that the souls of those put to death, escaped in the birds.)
From the mysticseed series.

A Buffy Limerick

Trawling graveyards might not sound like fun,
she’ll never stop ‘til her mission is done.
With her trusty wooden stake,
life from the dead she can take -
hunting night creatures ‘til she feels the sun.

Holy Love At Stake

Quiescent prayer reached the flames in half hearted conviction when
flamboyant immolation reached ‘Gundred’ at the stake of retribution

Should she have been quartered tarred and feathered first to keep the
luscious cleansing fire engulfing her up from ankles to impious mind
was the arcane message to ambivalent for the crowd to understand

Or had she been the one who lead a righteous life ahead of her times
precocious in enlightenment a revolutionary Queen of selfless justice

‘Aelfraed’ thought in bittersweet confusion that the wicked witch had
little chance to float on water or on the ashes to prove guilt or innocence
when tactile palpitations joined him and her across their heart’s desire

They had been lovers for five years of quintessence in pride and greedy
lust shared bed and table where she had mixed her potions for seduction

How he now wished in gluttony and envy that it was him to be eaten
by the conflagration with the raging congregation hurling abuse and
bits of misdirected conscience at the puppet of humbug and hypocrisy

Was it human fallow weakness that made his prayers succumb to doubts
or was it God incinerating his blasphemous Goddess for there was nothing

No relief for ‘Gundred’ with ‘Aelfread’ the forlorn intercessor beseeching
in too moderate modest helplessness standing by his passion numbed he
wondered if he adjured too feebly or why else the Messiah did not heed his call

Burnt At the Stake

Here you find a very strange dish of steak,
Of the cat who wanted to be burnt at the stake.

Mistake and Something Is At Stake

I’ve observed that one’s big mistake
Ties others to as big a stake
And an all-the-time “Time to drink!”
Enough to a vibrant mind shrink:
A mistake to tell “Get out, Snake!”
And duly fear like a dark lake…

I’ve noticed: one’s daily night walk
A reason for foe to one stalk;
Certainly, not for a sweet talk:
For a fight he might mark with chalk!

You should know: every wedding cake
Multiplies bags of flour we make;
Marriage hurt when scarcity fake:
Bride and bridegroom pay more and rake.

I’ve discerned it: one looks much old,
When wife now makes of one Cuckold:
It’s face that begins to fold
Now stammers from the once-bold.

Premium Member A Hot Stake

If ye continueth to trespass upon my land,
Me thinks it is time to take a stand.
Ye rogues and knaves are forever banned
from unwarranted encroachment upon my land.
Thou shalt yield to my demand.
Thou shalt wind up like Spam that is canned.
For every violator that is a trespasser and creep,
I shall take my sword and plunge it deep.
There are two alternatives thou can take.
Thou can have thine head cut off or be burned at the stake.
Burned at the stake is preferred at the first crop?
A hot stake is better than a cold chop.

Thy Intelligence At Stake

Thou would send thy angel
Of death ‘’Azrael ‘’ to the steps
Of my door from the other sides
Of the high hill and the deep sea

I welcome him as he is thy agent
And treat him as my especial guest
And make him sit beside my head
And give him to take milk and curd

His duty is your command
And my soul is his demand
But let me tell thee before hand
That I know not any heavenly etiquette
Nor I have any lamp of wisdom
By which I could illuminate thy kingdom
I am a rustic of this world
And live a life of flesh and blood
To do errors is my habit
If thy not want to regret
After taking my ignorant soul
Please make me wise
Before I set off to sail
Thy intelligence is at stake.

Premium Member Stake Your Claim - On God's Heart

Stake Your Claim (On God's Heart)!

Stake your claim on God's heart if you're looking for gold,
There are nuggets to find there; no snake oil gets sold,
Philosophical sophistries, fake news, et al.,
(Up for grabs) are the 'muffs of diseased whores' on call!
Are the loveless betrayed when they get what they paid for,
(Or their pain more deserved?), 'road to hell' just an encore?
Should saints(?) pray for God's Grace when the self-righteous sin
Or get out of their way? Lemming's rush! Cliff's chagrin!
As we drown in man's feces, should TRUTH 'throw us ropes?'
Is man's 'truth,' "lost are lost, and misanthropes sad dopes?"

When you feel that you love, have you "grabbed the 'gold' ring?"(1)
Does to grok that you're 'LOVED' mean you have everything
Of real value, my friend? Doesn't Bible suggest,
That we humbly trust God, that the rich man invest
All the wealth that God gives him in 'love for his brothers?'
Is your 'feast invitation,'(2) God's Grace or your druthers?
Isn't Christ the true Bridegroom? Who's honored by God?
Can the 'Church' (all 'indwelled' ones) deserve 'Love?' That's odd!
Or is Bride (one He weds) there in spite of her flaws?
Do man's dreams rule this marriage or 'LOVE' birth all 'LAWS?'

Long Tooth
July 31st in 2019

Poet's Notes:
(1) 'To grab the gold ring:' To take a chance and reach for some goal or desire.

Origin: In past times when children got on a carousel at a carnival or an amusement park, a child fortunate enough to be riding on the outside would have a chance to reach for and grab a gold (or brass) ring just barely within reach, so some risk was involved. This ring was a token the child could exchange for a prize of some kind (often a ticket to ride again at no charge).
(2) 'feast invitation:' The "wedding feast" where the 'indwelled' (God’s Church) become the Bride of Christ.

We'Ve Got a Love At Stake

It took years
It took tears
To put away all our fears
To remember
We've got a love at stake
When our eyes
Fill with lies
We're looking at some guys
To remember
We've got a love at stake
If in print
If not meant
Cheating becomes a hint
Remember us
We've got a love at stake
Family
Good friend
To each other we've been
We remember
We' ve got a love at stake

What's At Stake Anyway ??

Global warming ,
political and scientific debate's
Big buisness being
the biggest contributers and...
the detractor's of truth....

But...i have another question........
is it possible , at one time ,
the earth and the sun were
at it's greatest distance apart
hence , the Ice Age........

Do you think it's now possible ,
the earth and sun are now
coming closer to eachother ??

when we consider " time " as we know it ,
universal time isn't exactly the same.....

Who within' our lifetime or...
generation's past , have had the knowledge
or even the patience to track all this anyway ??

Sure hope we did'nt burn information at the STAKE !!
