Summer is over and the farmer now rests from his toil,
Having labored hard to wrest his crops from the fruitful soil.
Fall has arrived and all the crops have been gathered in.
The corn, wheat and soy beans lie dormant in the granary bin.

It was a good year - his farm was favored with abundant rain.
Thankfully, there was no wind or hail, an anxious farmers' bane!
Pecks of onions, pertaters and carrots are preserved in the cellar,
Along with bushels of resplendent apples - golden, red and yeller!

The hogs are ready for market but he'll keep a pair for meat,
And he'll butcher a steer or so to ensure there's enough to eat.
His wife jammed mason jars full of beets, termaters and peas,
And there are a few honeycombs filched from the gullible bees!

He and the boys used crosscut saws to hew cords of wood for heating,
To warm their Victorian home from the winter's snows and sleeting.
There are jugs of cider to sip and ears of popping corn to pop,
As the family enjoys a roaring fire to reminisce with lore to swap!

The humble farmer was so grateful that on his knees he knelt,
To offer his gratitude to the Lord, a simple prayer most heartfelt.
A benevolent harvest moon smiled on the pastoral scene below,
Seemingly to bless the peaceful panorama with its mellow glow!

Glimpses of Ardor

The wave-
Crushing dreams
Swallowing hopes

The storm-
Influencing pain
Sleeting fear

The wind-
Rushing anger
Twisting fate

The calm-
Momentary silence
Vision of light

The rainbow-
Indications of ease
Glimpses of ardor…

Premium Member The Winter Storm

Pelting glass, coming down;
how it thickens, on the ground.
On the window pane; tap…tap;
larger ice, now, it will rap.

The misery of a sleeting storm;
brings misery and forlorn.
Two inches of ice, is not so nice;
I dread what we will get tonight.

On top of that, there’ll be more snow,
I dread to go out there and blow.
The snow piles high, upon the ice;
one snow blower will not suffice.

But, I’ll make do; with one machine;
Still, there’ll be that icy sheen!

Premium Member Desert Storm

Cold dark wind
Upon my face
The weathers
Turning bad
Black blizzard
On the horizon
The devils up
My sleeve
Starched memories
And fish hooks
I turned my back
On society
Bent upon a dream
Frozen bamboo
Across my legs
Toes that hardly
Scream.
Sleeting now
In this boat
Afloat upon a field
Left by O’Toole’s
Machinery and mill
Gobbling up arms
And legs
Baled all nice and neat
It’s so damn cold
I can’t feel my feet
Ankles, knees, and armory
A stinking IED
Crawling back to you
Schoolboy’s stupid schemes
A war that never killed
It just left me maimed
This desert storm
Left me all alone
Drunken and stoned.

Premium Member Winter Time

Autumn has a big brother
His name is winter
A crisp cold wind is blowing and whistling
Ice, sleeting, cold rain, and snow…oh yeah its freezing
Days are shorter and nights are longer
The bright colored autumn leaves have disappeared
Jack Frost is here to bring havoc and fear
He’s never unforgiven or apologetic
Gloves, hats, scarfs, and boots….its winter yeah we get it
Green grass turns to cold white
I need my thermals and blankets for those frigid nights
Coughing, sneezing, nose blowing, and chapped lips
The cause and effect when temperatures dip
Snow falls to the unseen ground
Landing very gently there isn’t any sound
Everyone hears the carolers singing “Silent Night”
Who doesn’t love hot coco nights, and the snowball fights
This brings back the memories of the holidays and all the things I did
That’s why I love winter when I was a kid

Bad Weather

these seemingly mindless thoughts that spatter upon my brain

as endless as the drops from a midsummers rain

not knowing when they started that leads to an unforseable end

like the flashes of a lightning storm, my sense of safety they will rend

my comfort of knowlegde gone, only bitter questions left instead

to forever threaten my sanity, thunderous echoes in my head

the options i retain, steeped in a foggy mist

certain that i remain, atop the reapers list

the footprints in the sand, washed away by stormy seas

turned away at Heavens gate, for i lack the golden key

unaware of hungry wolves, through the blinding snow of hate

as they track the scent of blood, from my wounded mental state

chilled to my very bones, by sheets of sleeting greed

giving all i have for warmth, taking much more than they need

a hailstorm of sharpened insults, spat out to see me shamed

by those envious of my virtues, that still remain untamed

there's a burning in my soul, an inner heatwave of my guilt

unable to find the shade, amongst these walls that i have built

vengeance sought by those, who's pleads were never heard

like the destruction of a tornado, after the silence of the bird

my heart ripped apart by sins, like the winds of hurricanes

boarded up and closed, forever full of pain...

If love is fleeting
Then it's sleeting
You said you hate me
Now you date me.

You get me riled up,
When the bills are piled up.
I'm already stressed,
I can't deal with that mess.

You want to do things
Like people with rings,
But there's so much more
To marriage than that.

Marriage is love
And caring and sharing.
Marriage is much more than rings
It's dishes, laundry, bills & things.

The kids who rob
You of your sleep
Your key fob
They keep.

I'm cold, cold, cold
There's little else to say,
Except I'm cold, cold, cold
I'm locked outside to play.

My mommy doesn't want me
Getting in her way
It's sleeting and so windy
But outside I must stay.

I'm cold, cold, cold
I wander and I stray
I'm shivering and wet
It's an awful display.

I begged to be let in
But have no moral sway, so
I'm bound to get pneumonia
And then I'll pass away.

Without the Warmth of Your Love Within

" Without The Warmth of Your Love Within ... "

Without The Warmth of Your Love
There Within Sleeting - Shadows, So Cold
I Will Surely - Slowly, Freeze To Death ...

Without The Warmth of Your Love
There Within Snow-Bound - Sorrows of My Soul
I Will Meet With My Last Vapor-Misted-Breath ...

Without The Warmth of Your Love
There Within Icy - Arrows, My Heart Holds
Is Frostbitten So Deep Within My Breast ...

Without The Warmth of Your Love
There Within Hailstones - Tomorrows Told
The Sun Not To Rise That Yesterday, Then Left ...

Without The Warmth of Your Love
There Within A Black-Widow's Web, So Old
I Was Caught Within An Avalanche That Crept ...

Without The Warmth of Your Love
There Within A Narrow-Noose - I Know ...
My Bright Hopes All Hung Like Icicles Bereft ...

For Within - I Have Wept, Like Winter's Willows
There, Without The Warmth of Your Love-Coals
& Passion of Your Wildfire's Glowing Depths ...

Growing Older Together

Growing Old Together

Oh yes we are growing older together.
I would want it with none other!

Spring showers, now summer days, oh how swiftly,
Fall’s fleeting; winter’s sleeting, oh how quickly.

From dawn to dusk – week to month.
Year by year…time so dear!

Oh yes we are growing older together.
I would want it with none other!

Yes rose petals are fading, winter’s invading.
Ice winds are blowing, all life is ebbing.
Crowns are graying…yes life’s decaying.

I know you feel the threatening days
But my Dorella I am with you…
And hand in hand we will face the winter to!

Premium Member Winter's Rage

Upon the hush of winter snow
That glistens while the moon hangs low
A wind stirs up a blanket white
It quakes and rattles through the night

On chariots, with mighty steeds
It comes to scatter driven seeds
Decaying leaves and branches shed
With surge as storm moves overhead

It shivers cold upon the hill
To chill my heart much colder still
A tempest howl or'e chimney tops
The whipping sounds, forgiving not

Each gust comes strong with howling fierce
Through window sash, on knives that pierce
Knashes teeth, with biting cold
Shaking shingles, grabbing hold

All hover near a fire's hearth
While sleeting wrath, with fury's heart
To wait till winter's breath is spent
Tomorrow's rise, the final vent

Angry screams and threatening shouts
Peaceful dreams are tossed about
With dawning skies, a breathing sigh
Soft gentle breezes say goodbye

At last the wind has played with us
The game it won, with eager lust
There's nothing but a murmer now
Like spoiled child, it takes a bow

When winter calms, the anger ends
And brings along a peaceful bend
A tranquil peace will soon abide
              ~~As winter's rage is satisfied

Premium Member Sleeting In Nectar

It’s sleeting in Nectar; there's no pollen to sneeze.
The bees have skipped south for a tropical breeze.
Dear honey, I’m frozen; I ache in the knees.
It’s sleeting in Nectar; send warm weather please.

The ice is still falling, and the roads are all closed;
Attempts to head seaside are probably hosed.
There’s no running water; the pump head just froze.
The weatherman’s saying, “Folks, here comes the snow.”

O Nectar, sweet Nectar, sweeter than a kiss.
O Nectar, sweet Nectar, something is amiss.
O Nectar, sweet Nectar, what's with this sleet and snow?
O Nectar, sweet Nectar, I think it's time to go.

Being cooped with the kids is a parent’s worst plight;
The new has worn off and they’re picking a fight.
I’d send ‘em back out, but for signs of frostbite.
It’s sleeting in Nectar, and all is not right.

There’s ice on the lines, and the phones are all dead.
The store shelves are barren; there’s no milk or bread.
The mercury’s falling, or so says my head.
It’s sleeting in Nectar; I'm going to bed.

O Nectar, sweet Nectar, sweeter than a kiss.
O Nectar, sweet Nectar, something is amiss.
O Nectar, sweet Nectar, what's with this sleet and snow?
O Nectar, sweet Nectar, I think it's time to go.

Premium Member "tornado"

A strong stormy wind gust,
blew across the front lawn,
raising swirls of dust,
at the break of dawn,

Darkening clouds formed above,
creating lightning flashes,
with loud soundings of,
ear piercing thunder clashes!

Raindrops dancing all around,
soon turned to hail and sleeting,
tornado warnings...one touched down!
the radio kept repeating!

Seek out shelter everyone!
the weather is severe!
find safety 'til all danger's gone!
when stormy skies are clear!

The wind then blew so hard and strong!
hurling hail, sleet and rain!
the tornado came, then was gone!
having sounded like a freight train,

The warning received gave way,
helping ones to get prepared,
thereafter was heard the radio say:
"Slight wind damage, but life was spared!!

Snowing, Snowing, Snowing

Snowing …
Soft and Beautiful almost Bitter-Cold Thing

A man watched her… from across the bar
Said: “I had to come over… to where you are
… sitting there drinking… Kaluah and Cream
… looking like – someone’s un-awakened dream

Decided to catch her … ‘fore she got away
Then he asked her … what she had to say…
Now, she’s listened, but wasn’t too impressed
She just grouped him … with all the rest …

    … and said: “I’m Snowing …
I’m Fragile… when I’m Falling …
My heart is frozen … kept on thaw-alert
I won’t let it melt … I don’t want to hurt
Don’t get too close, or you may get chilled
Don’t mean to be rude … that’s just how I feel…

               like Snowing …
Soft and beautiful, but Bitter-Cold thing “

Now, I’ve heard the fairy tale of a young boy and girl
Who got caught up … in an icy-world
But, I’m more saddened, by what I just seen …
What could have changed that woman into The Snow Queen?

                She’s Snowing …
Such a Soft beauty, but Bitter-Cold thing
She’s Snowing … Snowing … Snowing

Now, the man, politely touched her arm …
Got her to dance … held her close and warm …
The Heat of His Heart-beat, tho’ Strong … was only fleeting
He looked down into her eyes … they were sleeting …

                She was Snowing …
Soft and beautiful, but Bitter-Cold thing
She was Snowing … Snowing … Snowing

Maybe, he’ll see her again, this time, next year
… but … if you make her melt … She will disappear …

               ‘Cause She’s Snowing
Such a Soft and beautiful, Bitter-Cold thing
That girl is Snowing … Snowing … Snowing

Premium Member Into the Arms of Compassion

I see the rainbow, as the storm breaks
I see many people running toward heaven's gate
I wonder why as they stares
Often compassionate whispers of woes and cares
I keep reaching in they keep reaching out
I don't want to care, but they just keep shouting... that...
Lullabies and goodnights
sleeting dreams of angels plights
As I wonder off into the night
Tenderly awaiting the arms of Jesus Christ
into the arms of the Savior
into the arms of the Savior
into the arms of the Savior
into the arms of the Savior you'll find arms of compassion
For He is my master, Jesus. . .
tall, Tall, trees scaled mountain with icy leaves
Leave me to believe that every living thing that breathes
Must receive, must believe
often compassionate whispers of woes and cares
I keep reaching in they keep reaching over there
I won't want to reiterate as I approach the golden gates
into the arms of compassion
Not a place nor satisfaction but a stayed reaction
into the arms of the Savior
into the arms of the Savior
into the arms of the Savior
into the arms of the Savior you'll find arms of compassion
