-- Just a bit of silliness --

"Baissez le rideau, la farce est jouee..."
                          ---- Daumier

39 & 1/2 days had passed;
the rain had lessened.
Noah, grungy and grumpy,
paced the wet deck
like a caged Lion of Judah.
Reading the Odyssey by blubber-light,
Jonah, a free-thinker, cruised
in his whale below; he marveled,
captainishly, carefully pronouncing
the unfamiliar Greek, an uninvented
tongue he couldn't speak.
Ham, an adherent to all the dietary
restrictions, was relieved
at the journey's almost-close.
Consultation of the Holy Books
had proved he wasn't kosher
and, therefore, could not be served.
Still, Shem and Japhet eyed him oddly.
They had a lean and hungry look.
The wives, sensible lot,
cleaned the kennels, did the chores
and tried to keep an even keel
in the anachronistic mess.
They drifted onward,
tired of fishing fruitless waters,
doubtful now of being made
fishers of men.
All things considered, it was
a perfectly normal situation:
men were mystics
and women staid and sturdy workers.

And yet, Ararat, still beneath the waters,
may not have been the only futuristic
structure in this grey, flat
seascape.

The Butchers Apron

“The Butcher’s Apron,” often called,
My countries flag, I am appalled,
For Union Jack, inspiring cloth,
Once doused the world in bloody froth

That’s not to say, it’s all been bad,
It did produce my mum and dad, and now
I’m here, produced by them; I produced
A son called Shem

And when we go to sad parades, the flag
Flies high, in restful glades, and though the
Apron’s always there, we’d like to think, the
Jack’s been fair.

Premium Member Who Needs Red Tape!

It seems it takes reams of paperwork to get things done nowadays.
You can become so snarled in red tape that it'll leave you in a daze!
I wonder how Noah would've coped with such onerous fiddle-faddle,
Had panels and boards been involved to design for him a simple paddle!

Did he have building codes and hordes of bureaucrats to appease,
Or pesky environmentalists hugging the gopherwood trees?
Was there an OSHA lurking about enforcing inane regulations?
Such balderdash would've added to his heap of frustrations!

Was an ASPCA "watchdog" there fretting about all the creatures,
Insisting that cages and stalls have the latest comfort features?
Was their a labor union hovering nigh demanding a living wage?
Such piffle would've launched Noah into a towering rage!

Had Noah heeded those who showered him with sneer and scorn,
Or had he drowned in seas of red tape to stifle his Godly bourne,
He might've been discouraged and cancelled the whole affair.
That could've spelled doom for humankind right then and there!

But Noah's Boss, that Master Architect superintending from Above,
Gave Noah the specifications and a not too gentle shove!
Noah, Japheth, Ham and Shem hustled and the Ark soon took shape.
'Twas built on schedule, with no cost overruns and no red tape!

Premium Member Babel Unfinished

Noah survived the flood with sons Japheth, Ham, and Shem.
Along with the animals of the earth, God spared them.
With floods, He vowed never again to do such a thing.
God made a covenant with Noah and his offspring:
“You and your sons shall populate the world as you go.
Look up into the clouds and you shall see My rainbow.
This is a sign the covenant is everlasting.
All creatures shall thrive, along with each human being.”

Noah’s grandson, firstborn of Ham, Canaan was his name.
He had to serve Shem and Japheth because he brought shame.
Ham also gave birth to Cush; who in turn brought Raamah.
Raamah extended the line with Dedan and Sheba.
Shem was fruitful producing many generations.
Arphaxad and Aram’s progeny would lead nations.
Among Japheth’s seven sons were Gomer and Javan
Their descendents also had produced many children.

Among Ham’s descendents was a king who defied God.
A mighty hunter and warrior, he was Nimrod.
His kingdom had contained land from Babylonia.
Moreover, it stretched as far south as Assyria.
His great cities included Calah and Nineveh.
They lived on land between the Euphrates and Tigris.
His people united and strong were making progress.
Nimrod proclaimed, “We have one language and great power.
Let us assemble and raise a very tall tower.
This ziggurat will provide a stairway to a star.
We are an ambitious people, and we can go far!”
A new great city appeared on the plain of Shinar.
With formidable walls constructed with bricks and tar.
God realized these persons were filling with contempt,
He wished to halt their foolhardy fallacious attempt.
Perplexing their language among them caused confusion.
They stopped construction and divided with diffusion.
God’s almighty power can never be defeated.
Therefore, the Tower Of Babel was not completed.

A ziggurat is a temple of Babylonian architecture resembling a pyramid. It begins
with either a square or a rectangular base. Additional stories with smaller floor
space create a terrace effect on each level.

Babylon

The earth of five million was of one speech,
Build it up, higher and higher, undie,
Towers of dub man,
circumvent his plan,
Suddenly behold the man, throw it down,
Speak of Babel, people uncomfortable,
Confound and confuse, scatter, no matter,
Shem, Arphaxad, Salah and Eber, a river,
Suddenly Nebuchadnezzar, tongue teach,
The king of dreams, wise men taught to lie each,
'I know of certainty that ye would gain this time,
And you and me did drink Babylon's fine wine,
Shadrach,
Meshach and Abednego burn,
It's not your turn,
It's not your turn, unlearn,
Eat grass, lift thine eyes, dominion, you earned,
People's nations, languages and value gauges,
O Belshazzar, Mine, Tekel and Peres, hand write,
Written to see sooth to say, another day,
Oh Babylonites, there is no hope for you,
That they in their wisdom, worship devils,
Babylon the great,Mother of harlots nine,
You think divine, you think divine, you lying,
The smoke of her burning, truth unlearning,
The great Babylon come,
The whore sittetch down.
I am Alpha and Omega, beginning and end,
Babylon was cast down,
Every face a frown,
A New heaven and new earth, no hunger and thirst,
He reigns now for ever,
Babylon has gone.
And with it the words of the Wizard London.

Man begat man and giants walked,
among mighty men a righteous dearth.
And to each took them wives
that they bear and multiply the earth

  Their wickedness vexed The Lord,
“I will destroy man and fowl on the wing,
and a full end” it grieved Him so,
“of all beast and creeping thing”

The world was filled by violence
but Noah walked with God and was just,
and begat Shem, Ham, and Japheth,
and they all did in The Lord trust

“Go make an ark of gopher wood,
upon the earth I bring a flood of waters.
And with Noah make a covenant
in his seed, his sons and daughters”

 “That behold wherein under heaven
everything with breath of life shall die.
Of two of every sort bring beast,
creeping thing and fowl of the sky”

For forty days and forty nights
upon the earth God caused it to rain.
  And the waters greatly increased
till the fountains began to wane

When the earth was again dry
The Lord God spoke unto Noah saying
“go forth of the ark - bring forth
 every living thing there laying”

Of three sons was the earth spread,
and Noah planted a vineyard to behold,
but of the wine had much to drink
and this Ham to his brothers told

When Noah awoke from his wine
he was in a wrath what Ham had done,
and said “a servant of servants shall
you to your brothers be my son”

So blessed he Shem, and Japheth,
that Ham dwell in the tents of Shem.
And all the days of Noah were
nine hundred and fifty years to them

Crossroad

if the king of kings is here
yet unbeknown to we
a latter day odysseus
king of our kingdom free
i wonder if his queen of queens
is waiting for him where
her suitors dig their graves in such
a way as to declare
the trap that they have set for him
the one inside our minds
that makes the truth a spectre
so distorted that it blinds
the people of a world at war
with light and life and love
pity noah's wife was less
important than the dove
what would he say to ham and shem
young japheth wants to know
how would he call jerusalem
which way would he go
when there are three mothers
all claiming one small child
with telemachus in the streets
running hot and wild
and three gods in the temple
all arguing the point
with priests and politicians
for the power to anoint
so if you are a suitor
you'd do well to understand
it's just an ancient crossroad
with water close at hand

Three For the Mohammedan

The Kneeling Satan
________________

Satan you are nothing
without mans assistance.
Finally genuflecting to Adam
it realizes.

Mohammedan Faces the Megalith
_____________________________

The choice of the free market:
bail it out,
this inherent corruption,
as it dies
has it not 'spoke'?

Mohammedan questions why the megalith is needed when it is an enigma to those of it...

Every Mohammedan is positive,
positive...
Allah will see it through.

Let the great satan intoxicate without license;
drinking in moderation;
knowing you wont make it:

Excess consumerism
to save\preserve.

Contemplate the self-critique limited in your responsibility,
as if saying: come satan consume me
--let me consume you.

Enjoying Liberty with Ha-Shem

Diadem of Gnosis Given To Shem

Shem
Saw
Spirit
Deep darkness
And light all fighting
To know how the cosmos was made
To know our hope in our liberation in the end
This gnosis was given by Derdekeas, who is Christ the son of Light, for those lost

Inspired by the Gnostic text The Paraphrase of Shem

The Poet, Who Asked the Birds How To Fly (Mixed Rhyme)

O, behold the man, by the old sea
He closes his brown eyes, feeling free
Dancing to the wind, taunting the bee
He, who loves nature, although, carefree
Nevertheless, wants you all to see

Him, who hates watching gray clouds hide the bright sky
Where falcons, soaring high, relentlessly
Against the gusting wind, they’ve freedom to fly
Reveling in fleeting days, across the

Virulent sea, where he spends time
Lulling, unmindful of them
The naked ladies of Shem
On shoreline rocks, weaving blue rhyme

For he does not like to see those eyes, tinted
With hues of withered red roses on the ground
‘Cos there is no more beauty, in them, when dead
Or, in the eyes, when full of sadness, the sound

Of a unkempt sea, where its breath
Streaking his soul, without regret
Filled with un-prophetic news
That he, too, wished to fly, to set
Wings to where he won’t have to fret
‘Bout not wanting to peruse…

The whippersnapper, who n’er wanted to cry
He, the poet, who asked the birds how to fly
He, the man, by the old sea, hurt by heart’s lie

That, in forms, caused him to unveil
Whence readers can feel, the detail

Whether, penned in a single verse
Or, in a freestyle, like free-verse

Whether, it’s written in sonnet
Or, perhaps, in a rhymed couplet

Between lines, untangle his thought

And you’ll see me, the life, I fought

On the Beach In Sandusky

On the beach in Sandusky,
a woman collapsed to retire her body
at the edge of Lake Erie, under
the awning of a cerulean sky. The waves
reached out to heal her because I was never that kind.
She will be more useful at her resurrection
after sleep closed her lazy brown eyes.
The world had left her, I was gone 4 steps,
but my conscience ... My heart walked
through shrubs and razor bumps.
Not that I want to. I was seduced
by this cause of injury to our children. It was enough
for the world to see via social media. So, June 15th, 2009,
I became Shem and Japheth; I took a towel,
laid it across my children's shoulders,
telling them to walk leeward
and hide their mother's nakedness.
