Best Proximity Poems

Proximity of Choice

The night air crisply flows
Brushing past my sill with a caress
The final blooms of the magnolia's
 Upon her skin, fragrantly confess

Autumn’s wildflowers
Sit upon the boudoir ledge
Handpicked this morning
To their beauty she makes her
 pledge

Chiffon sheers move
With a sultry waltz in the breeze
Moonlight glows as a flickering candle
gliding across the wall as if on a
 trapeze

Her lover, submerged in the elements of her boudoir
Is mesmerized and aroused by its sights and smells
He finds great pleasure where femininity dwells
Scented perfume causes his love to swell

The flickers cease to be
Their sighs belong
To the rhythms that
Waltzed upon the Wall

When we dream of distant shores
we overlook the beauty

Proximity

Before we part, be close to me-
As close as sand is to the sea,
As close as leaves are to the trees:
As close as close as we can be

I want you near, like Dawn's first light-
As near as Stars are to the Night,
Near as birds ere taken flight:
Near to me as eyes to sight

I love this poem because I believe it is one of the best poems I have ever written. Every time I read it, I remember for whom I wrote it, and why. I think this piece conveys a universal sentiment of the human condition: that we all desire the closeness of someone we love, or once loved.

Premium Member On the Proximity To Art

Museums are quiet except
For crackling parquet floors,
Wooden squares, a game board:
Checkers or maybe chess
Of various right angle, grain striations.

Parallel to paintings in oil, red lines
Begin a court for pickup basketball.
But whether subjects of famous battles
Or romances between animals and gods,
They are stuck in a frozen frame moment

Like mammoths in some La Brea Art Pit
It is this instant we are to see anew
Each brush stroke, a wisp of hair,
A dab of white, a cloud condensing,
I lean close.

An unseen alarm makes a statue come alive,
A funerary, votive docent who guards
Mesopotamian and Egyptian antiquities.
She curses me in hieroglyphs translated
And dictated from an Old Kingdom tongue.

My crime: too close to art.
As if my admission, and apology
Were not punishment enough.
I could have cast my eyes
At strangers surrounding me.

Vatican visitors are permitted
To touch the Pieta statue for luck.
Suspecting it has only so many
Touches before marble succumbs,
It’s luckier not to take a chance. (1/30/02)

The Proximity of Your Heat

Proximity

                      Virility displaying
                    Animalistic hunting
              Desirous energy coursing
               Transparency in longing
               Saturating primal urging
               Sweaty scent promising
            Sexual stimulations pulsing
            Electrifying depths arousing
           Voracious hunger thundering
               Sleek predator pouncing
                 Jugular vein clamping
         Contracting muscle exploding
               Entangled bodies rolling
               Beating hearts pounding
                Killing swiftly, climaxing
               Tousled tongue hanging
                      Satiated needing

Leaving the Close Proximity

i stand as a human
with limbs
roots
offshoots
and plenty of chlorophyll
blood and protein
know what i mean?
i live the star life
not the rock star life
i live on a rock
one rock helps
keep balance from another
rock
... the moon, the earth
the moon is leaving like a tree
she can't take the earth's b.s. anymore
the party has been fun and ash
for her
but
now
she needs her space (perpetual)
and the 45 tilt will ebb
will you and i
see it?
no,
but my roots will

On Proximity

Bright future in sight,
have emerged victorious and mighty,
having fought a ferocious noble fight.

Engrossed in discipline water tight,
have made the kinked pathways straight,
delivered gains, booties in right hands.

Burying the past darkest night,
stamping, kissing the tormenting plight,
we, l celebrate the ray of light.

Time of restoration,
moment of restitution,
dispensation for promotion.

Proximity

My body showers your fragrance
Every breath i take has your taste
Feeling your touch makes me glow
Those soft words now echo
The dew drops on my lips has warmth of your heart
With bowed eyes when i think of you
I squeeze in me the moments that i value

Proximity

it took so much for me
to stop myself-
such close proximity,
my need dangled in
the air, standing hair
on end. you are
an imposing threat,
sent to deliver flesh
from bone, destroy all
in your wake. i will take
my chances, dance
around your taste buds,
tickle your chin with
dirty nails.

Proximity Effect

Our currents combine
in a proximity effect,
the power ever growing,
the energy collects,
every charge in our path
alternating and direct,
there can be no resistance
to what we'll erect

When the power is flowing
we cannot elect
to bypass or break
or seek to deflect,
these surges and urges
they must go unchecked,
we must follow the flow
and never object

The collisions occurring
as we intersect,
the twisting and looping
where our wires connect
bring a crackle and sizzle
that all can detect,
a heat and a spark
they must come to expect

The power in our passion
may come to infect
those nearing our field
and they may not suspect
why their temperature's rising
yet there's no need to dissect,
they're only feeling the rush
of our proximity effect

Proximity of Anonymitity

Proximity of Anonymitity

When a person was near the proximity,
Of lack of identification and anonymity;
Am so alone;
Might moan;
Abundant peace appeared a proclivity.

Premium Member Proximity

Picked a seat right next to you
repulsed by the mere inches
obstructing me from a touch;
X marks the spot,
invade my fragile bubble;
Make me a little bit nervous,
invite me to snuggle;
Together is so much better,
your vibe a soft velour blanket.

Low Proximity

no
i don't
want to
splatter

i
don't
want to
be the blunderbuss

of
love
i would
like to be

the arrow
or dart that
hits your heart
or at least your bullseye

Premium Member Proximity

The sun radiating a warm glow
On the Eastern horizon
Softly and slowly it is rising
Bringing joy for some and sadness
For others, all living in close
Proximity of each other

If we only knew what each life
Has to face each day, we
Would be more compassionate
Those that face challenges in living
Due to age, illness, life stages
That bring challenges of their own

The cool crisp air is refreshing
Being outside is relaxing and inspiring
The soft chirp of birds of different species
Roosters in the distance greet a new day
Crows flying high flapping strong
Powerful wings and crawing at the same time

Duty calls my name and I must answer
Thank you Lord for another day with
Time on the porch to be refreshed
In spirit and in your love and care
Help me to let it overflow into the lives
Of others where ever I go

Near Or Within Proximity

Near Or Within Proximity

Would be nice if near or within proximity,
Of where we found respect and humility;
By God bless;
Bible possess,
And I am thankful He gave it all to me.
