Soar Like a Butterfly

These thoughts of mine do not behold
Let them soar high like wings befold

Observe them come then watch them go

I ain't nobody 's but my own

These arms of mine not to be bought
These lips of mine not to be sold
Nor is my mind to be possessed
or is this spirit to be undressed

Let me be me Just let me be

I ain't nobody's but my own

Do not preclude raindrops from falling
Through cascade paths I need to walk

I need to rest where children sing
Where gale winds shift against demands
Against each mountain and every glass jar
which traps these butterflies within my heart .

P.S: This is a fiction poem

' Soar Like A Butterfly
without being captured
in the jar of this world 's demands.'

Dinner Grilled and a Land Forgotten

You are far away now
Off in fields of gold
Dappled with evenings hot velvety light
90 degrees of separation has dulled the sword
 eased the pain
The grasshoppers chirp in unison to your labors but they no longer ache in your solar plexus
Nor mine
What sweet sorrow is loss and gain
I now walk down the very paths I have always so longed for
the dark rich peat paths of happiness
contentment oozes from these fingertips as I write and I wonder if happiness is poetry
Or does it preclude it all together

The night sky fills with stars
The stars fill with fire flies that burst out of them like infinitesimal lightning bolts
jettisoned to my soul

he and I chase storms on decks swirled in smoke
We banter and bay at one another

you are in a field of gold somewhere
or beside

a river bed
The smell of the wet earth of shore beneath you reaches me… but momentarily
dismissed as the ash of the bonfire of a week ago fire or the grill of last night’s
unbelievably tasty ribs he concocted from air for me and me alone

but then we shared with so many
 dinners

Lingers on my lip tips…the bottom edge

I kiss him and mean it with all I am
A being
a re-being

Super beings are we
all
and our colors wash
upon the canvas of my life
melding into one great magnificent us

Spectacular are we
the creatures who so love life
we give our only begotten selves to each other
and never ever forsake
us

This One's For You

This One’s for You
     By Dane Smith-Johnsen

Wherever you are, when life seems hopeless,
And your scrambled essence screams inside out.
The pain wrenches it’s own form of anguish.
Head harrowing, distant dreams devoured
Fear asks, “Why me? Dear God, why me? Why me?

                        Stop!

Release the throbbing hurt; control moments.
Revive the tranquility once within.
Just for a moment, wait upon the Lord.
Let Him hold you. Do you sense His presence?
Never give up on God; share your sweet soul.

                        Look!

All around. See the wonder of Creation.
The beauty prepared for you. Please partake.
Preclude pain. Spotlight God for a moment
He can bequeath irresistible joy.
Never give up on God, spill your sweet soul.

                       Listen!

Permit the fear to disappear; hear God.
Cast off your pain in Jesus’ Holy name.
Listen quietly for a little while.
Hear Him; sense the mighty comfort He gives.
Trust His strength to help you and heal your heart.
                                      Amen

Mindfull of a parallel sequence
we seem to function light between
thought and hurt hoping for
easy advancement up the channel steps--
pecarious invoking with someone who
knows--- and not knows inescapable from
ourselves compliant (fraud) if need not be.
Backwash of hidden intermittent terrors preclude
external sensitivities---like my aching back
heat waves of generalized dizziness and
gender--izing. The sweet bird of youth
never suffers a jet lag stupor as we enjoy
and (softly) murmur the last rungs in a
flaccid present tense loss of self faculty.
But the nevertheless picture of realitivity
lends a jargon journal future sometimes
nameless but (at least) omnidirectional
happenstance.

Veto the Mosquito Wbm

When God made the beasts, in days of old
It seems He lacked quality control
That surely would veto
The cursed mosquito
And preclude all that itching untold

Luminescence

...for Hart Crane

From dark to light transfusing in a flash,
your silver-sequined mystery
that breathes new electricity,
it shines where none has shone before,
this trembling luminescence,
through waves refracted with your sheen
yet show no movement readily,
no broken sea reveals your rippled hand.

Layer upon layer endlessly,
the waves preclude all semblance of your face,
and roll, so indeterminate their swell,
that light cannot quite penetrate the gloom;
and sun and stars no energy can gather
to clarify your loveliness for me.
Yet in the dusk your light still lingers,
bright and undeniable, the mystery
still haunts my dreams and will for evermore.

A Commitment

Seems a lifetime ago, I said “I do”
After I’d declared my love for you.
A vow sincere that is as true today
As it was upon that cold grey day.

It was a long ago, December day
When we started on our married way,
Serenely in Love, sealed with a ring,
To share whatever life might bring.
.
Today our way, remains ever clear,
Allowing us to accept without fear,
The future. Our passion - never stilled,
Allowed our hearts’ desires to be filled,

And though we are no longer young,
We climb life’s ladder, rung by rung:
Safe in knowing love will never end,
Both for me, and my life-love, friend.

Sometimes we’ll sit, holding hands:
Or walk in silence, for each understands
Love’s bonds, stronger every day,
Preclude the need for words to say.

When gazing into her soft brown eyes,
Therein is seen the girl I met: no surprise
She was the one I loved so long ago,
And since that day, has remained ever so.

Life has been great, I’m without regret,
For never once has there been one met
Who can compare with my Jersey Rose:
Perfect in every way, as you’d suppose.

Brave New World

A 'world' it is and it spins around in mad circuits of loopy loops.
Has reached an infinite array of denominations in which foolish
insane clowns have taken over the asylum once more as bedlam
pretends liberation as the counterfeit currency of nauseating progress.

'New' I have my doubts though when fiddling with reconstruction
conjures novel aspirations from Holocaust to Hiroshima from pure
race unadulterated megalomania to narcissistic greed ‘all can be
done’ but the genie emerges from Huxley’s toxic bottle unrestrained.

'Brave' should pertain to courage when golden means and common
sense of virtue defaced by ugly grimaces facades mascara of tainted
moderation succumbs to mediocrity construed by disingenuous evil.
An aberration of jesters plotting naked feasts of blinded engineering.

Temptation is an ancient theme and just because we are capable to
plot our own demise does not preclude some hesitation or valid
inhibition as courage must incorporate the rationale. Not to follow in
wolf’s clothing a script of Faustian cloning just because we can.

Manipulation of chromosomes through twisted recombining helices
as a stairway to hell gave us Dolly the sheep. Another incarnation
braying ‘Give me body parts’ to harvest stem cells modified amino
acids like little devils on steroids and protein shakes of unpredictability.

The most cunning argument for creating whole new persons brought
to the fore the notion that if we the ‘good ones’ do not follow science
to create what evolution failed to build from nature’s garden and God’s
promise then the malign others surely will and consequently all is lost.

The mind boggles in the light of self-righteousness and the delusion
that refusal and resistance are signs of cowardice and the misconception
that two or numerous wrongs result in right and law when duty could
prevail as guardian for another world of sanity and accepting our limits.

The thought police and miscreant paradigms of Dolly’s dogma will surely
try to silence my opinion that courage has another merit than the scientific
infestation that my mind and brain needs to be cloned in order to restrain
my voice of caution but when I shout ‘enough’ at least my dignity remains.

Clear It, Make Us Free

Maths what you want
we are not able to hunt
word-construction seems to construct
but on the page
clear it maths what you want
we are not able to hunt
we can't trust you because we don't know
you are with us or question paper
sometimes you are so easy
that we think we are the king
but sometimes you left us with confused equations
and we get lost in numbers
clear it maths what you want
you are moving more than your shakle
and we have to tackle
please preclude our loss
we are not able to hunt
just clear it

A Cautionary Tale

Once, a little Spanish girl
was given a "regalo" -
a dainty little potted plant,
a purple-petalled mallow.

She set it in a sunny spot,
beneath a southern window,
re-housed it in an iron pot
and named it, "Don Galindo".

She gave it water every day,
and gave its loam a hoeing.
She talked to it and petted it,
and marvelled at its growing.

Her plant rose tall and strong and fine,
rewarding all her labors:
"¡Te quiero!" sighed the little girl:
"¡Que raro!" cried the neighbors.

Joy never lasts, grief always comes,
said someone (maybe Byron?)
Galindo's roaming, ravenous roots
were hemmed-in by the iron.

The fine plant sickened and declined,
all hopes of salvage scuppered:
its lower parts, by steel confined,
could not sustain the upper.

And so, the moral of our tale -
resisting is not giving.
Do not preclude, prevent, prevail -
rigidity's all very well,
but soon turns heaven into hell!
Give in to me -
set us both free -
don't cramp or crowd -
things disallowed
can hardly go on living.

Eclectic

Eclectic

Be mindful of the Logical Fallacies.

When enlisting proxy's honor yourself and qualify them.

If you ask direct questions respond in kind.

Qualifying ones self as obtuse will not excuse duplicity.

Choosing doesn't preclude choice.

Those who speak of omissions have omitted.

Don't speak if you don't want your words spoken.

Don't write if you don't want your words read.

When you ask for privacy expect an audience.

If you sue for peace expect war.

When you strive for humility it may be construed as vanity.

Suffer not bigotry even from within ones own.

Hate brings vengeance invest in neither.

Have faith in your convictions and speak them plainly.

Do not emulate that which you abhor.

The wisdom of the crowd isn't always wise...
