Composed By Our Love

.

Softly the keys find a resonance pure, softly
adrift o’er a metronome stream, adrift
past the harmonies, three quarter time, past
dreamers and slumbering chords shimmered gleam, where dreamers
all long to caress what is heard, all
feeling vibrato on breezes a’ mist, feeling
the music ‘pon moonbeams of time to capture the
tune a pianist hath kissed, a tune
from the heart beating tempos of joy, from
deep down inside to the edge of the scale, deep
in a place that shall find no return, lost in
a breath of crescendo’s exhale, a
beautiful euphony born of desire, a beautiful
opus descends from above, an opus
of sensual echoes to feast, of
love songs, melodic, composed by our love

I was challenged to write a poem about a piano player using the poetic form Serpentine. It is where each line begins and ends with the same word but each line feeds into the next in order to keep the serpent like movement going. I thought I would pop in and share this with you.

Oh...Hi, it has been a while. : )

Spring is the time for ‘lek’
                                Capercaillie in beautiful dance
                                  a spectacular mating game
                                         A glowing ballet
                                 that radiates independently
They want to pass on their genes
                                    in breathtaking rhythm

                                // clatter, clatter, click, click,
pop, pop // - in the woods

                                           The mistress
                              - the noblest freedom in nature
Allow the birds to enjoy the game
                                        and mate in peace
They have lived in our pine forests
                                      since the last ice age
Walk quietly and gently on moss green pillows
                              So close, vulnerable and gorgeous

                                  When the midnight hour dims
                                       a crack of moonlight ...
                                     and a soul of satisfaction

                                 // clatter, clatter, click, click,
pop, pop // - in the woods

A Cup of Giggles

Would you like a cup of g i g g l e s?
Here's all you have to do.
Take a cup and hold it up.
Then laugh in a g i g g l e or two.

Now pass your g I g g l e cup around,
and watch it quickly fill.
But, oh, be so very careful,
not to let one g i g g l e spill!

Spilled g i g g l e s are infectious.
They'll wipe away a frown.
G i g g l e s blown into the air,
will infect an entire town.

No one can be unhappy,
when bubbles of g i g g l e s pop in your hair.
So share your g i g g l e s with a friend,
and spread them everywhere.

g i g g l e s
          g i g g l e s
               g i g g l e s
colored with your laughter,
like loose balloons, float up in the air.

To Eat A Peach

Spring is here.
The delicate tree blossoms replace
the delicate white lights of Winter.
From the petals fruit will grow.

Pears, plums, apricots, cherries,
       nectarines...
Peaches.

I set the unripe soft rose and yellow
    orb on the windowsill.
Two days later I tenderly lift it
and gently squeeze its warmth before
    I wash it.

Biting into it...
     the sweet liquid is Ambrosia.
The juice runs down my chin onto
     my tee.
I greedily suck the peach’s flesh dry.

I daydream as I munch.
Peach cobbler, peach pie with a lattice crust,
peach shortcake, peach muffins,
stewed peaches, peach tea bread,
slices on your cereal, slices in a bowl with cream.

OR...only for dessert?
How would a
chicken breast soaked in a peach marinade taste?
My taste buds begin chattering.

Summer’s here!
corn on the cob, okra, tomatoes:
small ones that pop in your mouth
and big beefy wedges that
garnish crisp celery slices, carrot medallions,
tender Bibb lettuce, sliced mushrooms, cucumbers,
asparagus, broccoli, Vidalia onions, cauliflower...

Watermelon, blueberries, cantaloupe,
      strawberries, honeydews, raspberries...

Juicy hot dogs, spicy barbecue, thick charbroiled hamburgers,
hot German potato salad, 3-bean salad, macaroni salad,
potato chips and French onion soup dip,
soft pretzels dipped in brown mustard, popcorn...

chocolate chip cookies, Snickerdoodles,
strawberry shortcake,
chocolate cake with red, white and blue frosting for the 4th,
apple pie
  — softball, Mom, doggies —

I awake with a start. There is drool
      on my pillow.
Another day begins but it’s really
       not another day.
It’s the same day I’ve been living
       since 1 May 2017 ~
The day I let the dentist pull
out the last 5 teeth I had
       in my lower jaw.

And as I come to consciousness
       my tongue pushes
against and spills out over the
the soft toothless tissue that burns constantly
and is covered in a thick gooey saliva ~ place a
       teaspoon of Elmer's
glue in your mouth ~ if
you care to have a taste
       of my reality.

Summer’s here.
Clear your palate.
Clean your plate.

Deodorant

Think I'll dress in my one suit,
silk shirt and handkerchief,
pop in a breath mint
and shine up my shoes;

make that impression,
look good for the ladies,
with cash in my hand
what have I got to lose?

Yet I wish I felt better
more up to the task,
my suit's sure been neater,
my shirt has a stain;

you don't notice it, though,
when I'm wearing my jacket
and the hole in my pocket?
I'm not one to be vain.

CODA

There's no one to impress
for I'm the only one I'll see,
I'll roll on some deodorant
so I'll smell good for me.

Drive-Ins On the Fourth On Many Years Ago Well Memories

July fireworks bring together families and friends
for a much needed vacation from worries and work.
Picnics at and on the lake just for memorie's fond taking.
I remember the days of old when watching a movie
outside amongs't the stars and moon.
Playground equipment of a slide and swing
nestled right next to an entraptment framed
sandbox.Oh to be youthful and exuberent again.
Lightening bugs flickering into the night.
Today's movies consist of many smaller theatres
jam-crammed tighter together than a can of
sardines. An alignment of multifleck'd multiplex
light beamed shows across the screens.
Remember when Fizzies were the rage-Just
dropp them in a glass of water and sniff the
boquet of different fruit flavored bubbles would
tickle the nose. Ah yes, different flavors of instant
soda pop in a colored aluminum or plastic glass.
Just like Alka-Seltzer-only better tasting.
Can you remember back wearing shorts and
igniting sparklers and black pills of instant snakes
arising from the sidewalks or street.
Yes those times were just real amazin', and real, real neat.

Fantastic Journey

It was a quaint little shop
Looking strangely out of place
And the owner was a hermit
With a crinkled young old face.

He was a man of distinction
Of health hearty and hale,
Had looked a Haggis in the
Eye and lived to tell the tale.
He had lived with a mermaid
Having found her in distress
Nursed her back to health
To become his new mistress.
He had sailed the seven seas,
Served with a Samurai band,
Been a leading Ronin before
Sailing away for Samarkand

He had awoken the Kraken
Then, before it was too late
Quietly swum away to avoid
A somewhat gruesome fate.
He had hunted with Vampires
But only on those darkest nights
For they'd had to be recoffined
Before any sign of daylight.
The werewolves of Carpathia
Had taught him transfiguration
A secret he'd long discarded
Once he'd left that roving nation.

Bareback ridden a unicorn
Learned all its Pan Pipe skill;
Sometimes early on cold dark
Mornings he would play it still.
He didn't believe in Faeries.
Didn't like to fantasise,
Only believed in those things
He'd seen with his naked eyes.
I left him making a Herbal tea
Said I didn't quite know when
But the very next time I passed
I'd pop in and see him again.

I shouted my goodbyes
As he worked away inside
And I eagerly continued on
My Magic Carpet ride.

Premium Member Invited To the Yearly Party

So are you coming she asks
On a scale of one to ten
Margot’s parties are a negative seven.
Dull old people
Talking smack
About other dull old people.
I’ve got to check my calendar I say,
Knowing there is nothing on it.
I can move it to a different night, she offers.
I know why she wants me.
I am dull and old, but I have new stories
No. That’s not it.
I’m dull and old, but I make up new stories.
Buzz.
I’m great at Pictionary, and she always puts me on her team.
Will there be Pictionary? I ask, dreading the reply.
OF COURSE! She says, pleased. Her eyes brighten.
Maybe I could pop in for a bit, I offer.
My soul laughs.
Knowing I will be the first guest there, and the last to leave
as soon as I start winning the prizes.

Premium Member Why Now

The alley is like ink
Dark and fluid
I keep close to the walls
As I can see nothing
Everything is dank and dark
Except the moaning
I hear in the darkness
Someone is hurt
I heard a gunshot
A clear pop in the night
I am not a Good Samaritan
But help is needed
And I am the first responder
I soon stumble over a woman
Lying in a puddle of water
Bleeding from the chest
A sucking chest wound
The worst kind
I kneel down beside here
She tries to speak
But I cannot understand
What sounds like Portuguese
Please is all I can make out
I tear her clothing
And try to stop the bleeding
She’s not going to make it
Too much blood
And not enough time
I try and perform last rights
And I see desperation in her eyes
Why now they scream
Why here they cry
I hold her hand
And close my ears
For the sound of death is deafening.

A Contraceptive Pill

Afore falling in his arms they advice to think twice
Unregretful I act beyond my surprise
It’s the grip of a force, a force here to claim
Compelling, like a moth drawn to the flame

Every night encloses the heat of flaming souls
But sun kissed morning plays a wicked role
To my realization it brings an obvious question
What next to prevent conception?

Like always, I pop in a pill to save the bill
My guy admires the worth of a contraceptive pill
It causes side-effects. Ah! How would he know?
He enjoys the freedom of reckless show

Nevertheless, I look at kids and admire their innocence
Wish the pill could kill within me my maternal pretence!

Both Sides Now was
big for you,
its simple lyrics
and deep hooks
with clean bright
guitar
went straight to my
heart.

And I know every
song
has its covers
I even liked some of
them
Judy Collins did it
well
It helped Susan
Boyle show
she had Talent.

But your 2000
version
and this maymariana1
mix
with its dirgelike
pace,
syrupy violins
and over the top
orchestration
reduce it to
elevator music.

Please excuse me
while I
pop in my ear buds
and listen to the
original.

Radio On

With the radio on while not cruising at a safe speed
I pop in my tape not a cd

Music playing 'Born to be Wild' hitting repeat, repeat
while my hands drum to the fast beat

All the windows are down loving the heat
the outside air is so sugar and sweet

Singing along with 'Steppenwolf' my spirit free of any rules
just land, road and a lot of fuel

How far will I go only time will tell
definitely not looking for any hotel

I see the sun setting west just over the mountain crest
what a wonderful ride with no life of stress

The world is mine I just realized
with the radio on I continue to drive

With my dogs at my side
at last I feel ALIVE!

Premium Member Not a Poem Please Read

Hey everyone!

So I'm not a Premium Member so I can't post a blog (otherwise I would). But I just wanted to say, I apologize for my year-long absence. I know that's kind of extreme, but please just know that life gets in the way sometimes; we get busy and get writer's block on occasion.

But to add to the drama, just today our landlord gave us three months notice on the house to move out, and move to a new place. This was unexpected for me, especially since I've lived in this house most of my life (15 years to be exact) ... so I don't know what's going to happen!! If you don't see me on the Soup for several days in a row this is probably why. I'll try to keep in touch as much as I can ... bad timing, I know, since I just recently came back!

(my family is seriously thinking about moving to Georgia ... I live in Idaho!!)

I hope that I can still pop in, read some work, and post a poem on occasion ... but it won't be as frequently as I have been doing, until we finally get settled in, and figure out what exactly we're doing.

Thanks for reading this, being tremendous friends, and writing stellar poetry. I appreciate you all.

P.S. This is not goodbye. I will not be leaving for a year like last time! In fact you will probably still see me pop up ... but I'm posting this up so that no one worries if I'm gone for several days in a row...

Peace!

Faith, the Hardest Bubble To Burst

Bubbles come in many forms,
some make you feel all fuzzy and warm
others are like ideas or schemes,
most however, are easily torn

Burping baby bubbles of gas,
bubbles blown that pop in the grass
football games, played in a dome,
a snow globe made of hand blown glass

Faith, as we know is a powerful sphere,
it holds us together, in a life full of fear
like a friend, you can count on, when times are the worst,
as like Christ on the cross, sheds a redeeming tear

You can count on your Faith, the Hardest Bubble to Burst,
even when the health of your body is cursed
with just a moment a day, silent in prayer,
believe in your Faith, the unquenchable thirst.

Dedicated to my Poet Friend, Carolyn Devonshire, With Love and Faith,
God Bless....Taz

Opening Time

I gaze across this land so green
With wonder and delight
I pause a moment and I think
When's opening time tonight

I'll just pop in and have a pint
And maybe if I see
A friend or two at the bar
Sure that would make it three

Then I would have to buy one back
So that would make it four
It won’t be very long now
'Till I'm lying on the floor

And sure that’s not a bad thing
It saves the legs you know
From all that standing at the bar
Until it's time to go

And if I lie here long enough
That too would be fine
I'll be first in the queue tomorrow
Ready for opening time
