Best Parasols Poems
Shadows of tall trees,
Shade beneath their covered boughs:
Rest from midday heat.
A stilled summer sky saturated and scattered with god song
watches a way fared soldier - whispers to a wary widow.
Creamy clouds canopy the concord of a moment. Minutes become
mercurial - they manifest and meander as the seconds slip by.
Sailboats slice through streams of idle indigo.
A ripple somersaults and softly settles into serenity.
Cooing couples cuddle near clusters of cockscomb.
A lass lightheartedly leaps. A comely colleen crochets -
moment by moment - darning daydreams into days.
Parisians promenade past a proficient painter’s palette.
Social classes collide amidst color and contour and calm.
A smorgasbord of strangers isled and idyllic - spruce a
stippled sanctioned salver, as sanguine seconds smoothly
sweep past the subtle, symphonic swells of the Seine.
Curtains of parasols hide the sky
from an outer world to guard
the lit splendor of dusk undone,
where ferris wheels roll
in a time restricted by structured hours.
Cotton candy puffs mid-air
for at least a longer moment,
when children in Sunday frocks
escape into a thrill of magic,
dreaming of a refuge from things mundane.
The colored umbrellas burst into firework parade
Above a welcoming air
swaying on handles lit by conniving stars;
the ringmaster boasts of circus' finale
prompting the fat lady to dance an encore---
a mimic of play sheltering giggles
for extended tweets before undue slumber.
