shadows
in this
room
that are not
mine 
to
hide from

still they
follow
close 
behind
dark and
dumb

the sum
total of
a scant
light
I fail to
fight

you see..
they wont
tell you why
even at the
end of the
lie
how deep 
things go
or what they
mean
under a
smoke 
screen
