Premium Member Stroke of Liking

I was set in my ways
Downed café au-laits
In a den of privacy.

Though pain from a jilt
Still throbbed to the hilt
A regrettable history.

With no delusions
Of future effusions
I cherished my liberty.

And tried to avoid
With every fibroid
That lost road to misery.

Yet a sneaky charmer
Found cracks in my armor
Ensnaring me unwary.

It was only a glance
A pure happen-stance
No intentionality.

But a sound like a crack
That I can’t take back
A fated futility.

Made me squeal out loud
When if from a cloud
A bolt of liking struck me.

With no more deterrent
This ardent current
Put glee in my fantasy.

At the speed of light
Our romance took flight
In ionic felicity.

I've been contemplating whether or not to join poetrysoup for a while now.
I should've joined earlier. Now I have hundreds to share. Well enjoy my never-shared -'til-today poem entries.) 

There are many stages to liking a guy.
1. You think they're cute and nice
2. You like him
3. You have a crush on him
4. You love him
5. You're obsessed with him
6. Don't like him no more
7. Denial
8. Part of you tells you he's got something
9. It grows
10. ... 11. ...12. 13. 14. 15. 16. 17. 18. 19. 20.
21. Acceptance, he's your friend again

Or so you think...

Growing Up and Liking It

At 13 years of age, a pamphlet
Showed up in my home.
My mother bought it, not to be
The subject of a poem.

It was intended to explain
(A lecture would be worse)
The facts of menstruation,
Often called the “woman’s curse.”

Modess, a manufacturer
Of sanitary pads,
Produced the booklet; it cost
Just a quarter; they made scads.

The title always bothered me,
For what would be the need
To try to get young girls to like
A messy monthly bleed?

A novel I am reading
Brought this little pamphlet back.
A character is using it
For knowledge she does lack.

It’s rare to find a copy
So on Amazon they’re hiking it
To almost 90 bucks, another
Reason for not liking it.

Liking You

As I got to know you, I grew to like you more than expected, I guess it was the way you 
were to me, I felt protected. I was comfortable in your arms, the way you caressed me, I 
knew of no harm. The way you gave a listening ear and the way you knew what was goin on 
regardless of what you hear. It was like you could read me by the tone of my voice and you 
knew what felt good even when I didn't make a noise. Looking back I wish we explored more 
of our options. You made me feel so good inside, like I was on a natural high. There's so 
many things about you that I wish was in every guy. There's so much I like about you, that it 
makes it hard to say goodbye. But looking on the bright side, I made a new friend and 
developed a great friendship that will hopefully never end.

Precisely To My Liking

My favorite time of the day
Is when the moon hugs the sun
Waiting on the Ice -cream truck to come

In my blue jeans
Fitted loosely
When it's not so hot
All you gotta do is run when you need a cool breeze

So happy with soul magic
The little girls are dancing in the street 'cause there is no traffic
Little boys in the grass wrestling
Or trying to see who can run the fastest

Couples holding hands
Taking turns whispering sweet nothings
LOVING OUT LOUD!!!

Today we crown "Joy" as king
As we all drink directly
From the vineyard of kindred spirits
Just like we ought to be

Premium Member Liking Miss Fancy

A chipmunk fell under my spell today.
I am magnificent, so of course, it was not totally unexpected,
plus chipmunks have always been attracted to me.

She immediately recognized me as a mystical, magical, Komodo dragon, 
and she wanted to tell her relatives, for she liked being the first with the news.
You know the type.

I could have none of that, being the only Komodo dragon left, in generations
of magical, mystical dragons.  If she told, I might disappear forever, and then who would save the planet?  So I brought her to my dragon lair, and we had a bit of a chat.

Her name was Miss Fancy, and she was all of that; eating her sandwiches with her pinkie up. She had never tasted peanut butter banana sandwiches before, and let me know how great they are.

Komodos do not eat that kind of food, being strictly carnivores, but I resisted every urge to eat her, and it worked.  Miss Fancy promised she would not tell anyone about my mystical, magical side, which she and only she had seen, so I released her back into her meadow with her friends.

Almost as soon as she was released she began travelling door to door, and I suspected she was not merely delivering May baskets.  I turned invisible to listen, and was astounded at how many people laughed at her for thinking there was a real Komodo dragon.  None believed, and she was the laughing
stock of Chipmunk Village.

I cannot tell you the relief I felt for I had grown fond of her, and did not relish torching her with my mighty flames, for a chipmunk is not much of a bite anyway.

Rolling back
Reeling in laughter 
Reliving phases 
Thus revealing faces

she slides through phases places 
Placing faces 
To deaden places 
Creating an illusion 
Of bizarre cases 

She Mastered the lines
As she dance the puppets 
Taking crunchy chunks 
From each suspenseful moments 

Reaching for their minds 
While touring their heads
Transcending their hopes
With vivid visions 

Thus transporting lives
 to fading places 
Reliving facts of ancient cases 
Drumming them to screaming heights 

Then with a sudden pause
Fizzling out the echoing sounds 
He slowly gathered the scattered faces
Staring with wide guesses 
admist this Ominous silence

Effervescentess as the flowers are crying 
As the wind blows through the valleys 
The grass is moving dancing in the breeze so are the flowers
