Heroes

When need arises they rise up in every town
No matter the toll it takes, they just carry on,
But not everyone will recognize who they are
For heroes of the town don't have name-tags on.

No one sings their praises in course of their deeds
To make a difference quietly they proceed
As if the music to their song is not yet composed
For lyrics, though written, have not been disclosed.

Don't search far and wide to see this phenomenon
Just look at human actions in their simplest form,
Like a mother who wakes up at stroke of every dawn
To care for her kids since the day they were born.

A father who toils daily to send his kid to college
Waiting to hug his child on the day of graduation,
And a teacher who delivers gladly gift of education
Working for low wages never seeking recognition.

Fighting fires in the neighborhood or in the wild
A fireman saves a child's life but dies before his time,
And a policeman who dies at the scene of a crime
Leaves young family behind at height of his prime.

A doctor who spends all night to save a man's life
When no one is at home to care for his sick wife,
And a brick layer who works in the heat of summer
To construct a pathway for the rest of us to walk over.

A child who didn't know how to use the phone
Saves grandma's life getting through the dial tone,
And a captain in the army dies to save fellow soldiers
While his young family left behind silently smolders.

Heroes everywhere fight challenges that are rife
They reside among us uplifting every walk of life.

When robins appear an angel is near.
* * *
A memorial dedicated to my mother who suffered from dementia for many years.
November 1920 - July 2008
Mother and Dementia
When dementia creeps in, through the back door
Loving is needed, like never before...
An expressionless face, an empty heart
A once dazzling life that had lost it's spark
I saw your sad tears and felt every fear
Of foggy days that for you never cleared.

All disappeared, those happy golden years
Memories you held, so precious, so dear
The loveliest of smiles, gone without trace
Who was that stranger who dwelt in your place.

Tenderness was missing, none existing
Care and affection you were resisting
It sure broke my heart, to see you like that
When we'd shared love and friendship in the past.

My one and only forever mother
There couldn't have been a better another
I still pray in hope, again and again
You didn't suffer any physical pain.

As you loved and cared, like a mother should
I cared for you, as I promised I would
I hope that these words to heaven get through
"Dearest Mother, I will always love you."

Words

I have a new lover
who makes me smile just like a mother.
I have a new lover
who does things the way I want.

I have a new lover
who sleeps just at the tip of my tongue
she falls off when I open my mouth
her breath is directly connected to mine
she dies the day I close my eyes and the world will remember me just because of her.

I have a new lover
who never goes out without my concent
she goes just to deliver my assets
my delivery van
without her the world calls me dumb.

I have a new lover
who knows exactly how I feel and acts the way I think
the right person for me
bone of my bone
the flesh of my flesh
How come I was too busy to know I love you?

I have a new lover
whom all my worries are laid
she toils day and night
just to make me glow, am whole.
she defend me against the world
when am wrong she goes to say am sorry
she define me when people need a clue.

I have a new lover
who is better than gold, immune against the cold
and never get old.
she goes before me to places unknown
through her my name is known
how come I was too dumb to know, you are all I own
I wish I fell in love with her long ago.

I have a new lover
her name is WORDS
how come I had her and still searched for love?
no wonder I was so alone.

I was a fool
now that I found you
I will caress you with kindness
feed you with truth
show you out with love
till the whole world gets to know how powerful you are
and say you aloud in oneness.

I WILL TREAT YOU WITH CARE.
I will possess you will harmony
till you drive away their sadness
I will fertilize your womb with salvation
till you birth in men grace
I will wash their eyes to know YOU ARE THE TOOL WITH WHICH WE CHANGE THE WORLD.

My lover, My words you will bind the world with peace.

Out Here, We Are Stars

Out here,
where time forgets its name
and distance wears no shoes,
a single atom dreams
of being seen.

A nebula breathes in slow creation—
a phosphorous wound
stitched by light,
spilling stars like secrets
never meant for mouths.

What lilt remains in the voice of the void?
Even silence has shape here—
serpentine,
a slither of ancient radiation
wrapping the bones of galaxies,
like a mother tucking in
what she cannot keep.

We call it space,
but it’s more:
a cascade of almosts,
of might-have-beens and never-weres,
falling endlessly
through a gravity
that remembers everything
but forgives nothing.

The lunar dust knows—
how soft it is to vanish,
how even your footprints
can outlive your breath.

And Earth, blue with burden,
floats like a question
we’ve stopped trying to answer—
spinning myths into maths,
naming fire with numbers,
hoping to out-code
the ache.

There is a myriad of ways to be alone.
But here,
in this tender, terrible expanse,
we are together
in our unknowing.

And maybe that
is enough
to make us stars.

Premium Member We Do Not Own the Land

Renegade trees are popping up all over my yard.
Reminding me that I am the interloper; it is their turf.
This is a forest, wild and well-guarded by giant oaks and cottonwoods.
Soldiers who will be here hundreds of years after we are gone.

I sit in the middle of the forest, in the meadow where my gardens are.
Marveling at my red knock out roses, which are a vivid hot pink.
A tiny stick of an elm tree has popped through in this garden.
I am nurturing it, like a mother nurtures her baby,

This is Kansas where tens of thousands of elms were murdered
By an elm disease.
There has not been an elm tree here for twelve years.
Miraculously, this might be the only elm in Kansas for all I know.
This baby elm is proof that we do not own the land.

She will be here, giving shade hundreds of years after I am gone.

A Good Man Is Hard To Find

A lifetime of security you will find in him,
But a good man is hard to find.
He's always there even though the light is dim,
But a good man is hard to find.
He's a full time lover,
But a good man is hard to find.
His shoulder is there to cry on like a mother,
But a good man is hard to find.
He listens to your every whim,
But good man is hard to find.
Yet no one is more trustworthy than him.
Still you say a good man is hard to find.
He may even be the most forgiving,
But yet good man is hard to find.
He knows you even from the beggining,
But a good man is hard to find.
What does it take to be a good man?
Because I know someone who is trustworthy,
Yet trusting of you more than anyone else.
But have you talked to him lately?
For he is the security you need greatly.
For unto him you can do no wrong without him still loving you.
So before you say a good man is hard to find pick up your bible and call on him.

Through Her Eyes Only

I brought her into this world,
But she is like a mother to me,
Darkness is the only colour for me,
Though I see the beautiful world,
Through her eyes only,
Every morning she holds my hand,
She walks with me in the garden,
Tells me the beauty of nature,
I see the magical creation of God,
Through her eyes only,
She sits next to me,
Tells me how water changes its colours,
When sun’s rays fall into the pond,
How swiftly the fishes change their directions,
There is only darkness all around,
Though I can see some light of hope,
Through her eyes only,
I can smell the roses,
I can feel the intense heat of the sun,
I can listen to the mystical sound of chimes,
But I can see none of them,
She clasps her little fingers around mine,
And makes me see beyond the darkness,
I remember to live every day,
Through her eyes only,
I cannot see my child,
But she is the apple of my eye,
I live because she is in my life,
I feel my existence in this world,
Through her eyes only,
I might give up on life,
But her indomitable will,
Helps me to survive,
I fall in love with the darkness,
Because it brings me closer to my child,
And I can see a beautiful life ahead,
Through her eyes only!

The Naughty Pen

The Naughty Pen

She loves my naughty pen
Little wonder why her bunk shook
The last night I visited
Between the boards of her heart my verses are vast
Written with unspoken words
Littered with love language
Only her heart can decode
The naughty pen’s code

She loves my naughty pen
Because of its beautiful rhymes
The reverie of having my pen made her snore
As we snore
I swim through her imaginations
Exploring and emancipating her innermost
Conquering her doubts
Surpassing her body
Plowing the unknown
Building fences around her garden

She loves my naughty pen
And my pen love her I swear
But I hope she won’t stone my pen to death
For its naughtiness
Even if she does
My pen shall resurrect on the third day
Because no stone can kill true love

She kissed my naughty pen
Like a mother whose child needs lullaby
Caressing my innocent lips with her wet lips
As a baby pen, I cuddled between her two tender layers
Standing between her chest
The baby pen sucks her milk
Thus making her sobbed, saying; ‘crazy baby’
The sand hill stood straight, pleasure mixed with imagery
Dragging the night into an endless quest of possibilities…
Possibilities encoded with lyrics

I gave her my naughty pen the last night we met
Now, she is accusing the lyrics of my pen of being naughty
And yet, she is smiling all the way, asking for naughtier pen
Is it a crime to express my innermost feeling?
Is it a crime to build true imagery and fantasy?
Is it a crime that the mental state of my pen’s imagination is naughty?
Is it a crime that my pen loves her; and she loves my pen much more?
Much more because the frequencies of her heart beat is stronger than Rhythm FM

To my bosom friend
My naughty pen loves you
Stop acting shyness
Shyness is for the weak at heart
My pen is ready to go hungry for a century to proof this;
Ready to surmount Mount Everest for you;
Ready to blow you kisses when the night is dark and fear arises;
Ready to stand by you when the arrows of life rail at you;
Ready to cover you when the night is cold and cruel
Ready to make you feel like a woman
Ready to forgive and forgive, and forgive…
I love you….the naughty pen

Premium Member Eyes of Mother Nature

Not just the sky itself—they are every ocean and stream—
filled with reflections of rainbows, waterfalls and rain.
Windows of beauty fringed in verdant shades of green.

Not a trace of sadness shows for things that cause her pain.
Her eyes, serenely soft, are sacred, mystic jewels.
Forever and beyond they always will remain.

Content within her powers of evergreen renewal,
her eyes reflect and sparkle with all of nature’s hues.
Wisdom of aeons — their provident accrual.

Her eyes —a wellspring of every artist’s muse—
like a mother giving from her immeasurable heart.
All this she imparts—yet we never pay the dues.

These eyes, so beautiful, her children fill with hurt.
Beware—her precious gaze—some day she will avert.

The Price of Oil, Part I

The nurse ordered her to push, push, push
in her best proper voice
and linen balled in red fists knotted
and sweat falls from red face knotted
while Billy, head first, tugged and yanked by nurse's proper hands,
emerges, gently laid upon the blood soaked sand
motionless in the sulfur haze, almost well-behaved
amongst the rifle clatter and bewildered screams -
get down! get down! get down!
while Billy breathes slowly, undisturbed,
his eyes closed with new mom
gently caressing matted, cark curls,
her fingers, no longer knotted, extended,
Billy's tiny hands and infant fingers
grip the plastic ribbing
around the rifle barrel smeared in stickiness that flows out
from below Billy and onto sand, puddling, his lips chapped and parted,
suckling as new mom exhausted weeps
in relief of two arms and two legs and everything okay
as she holds him, hurting for him,
everything that might happen,
everything that will happen,
and she drifts off to slumber,
mother and child peacefully spent
in soft pretty colors
and the soft murmur of the television as the sedan
with government plates at the curb
and a Marine in dress blues (Oh, God) stands plastic in the doorway
and uses his best proper voice (Oh God, not Billy, Oh God)
to regretfully tell her,
and uses surprised hands to catch her when her legs
regretfully cannot hold her
and she sobs on the floor like a mother who outlived her son,
exhausted as the day Billy was born.
Screw this war.

Stripped

Stripped bare, my garments fall to the ground...free,
I expose my scars like medals gleaming.
In the moon's glow, I rediscover me.
The crowning moon lights my path. Then, soaring,
nature exhorts...the fertile earth bearing
fruit like a mother awaiting. I pray
for a stellar reception, an array
of constellations dancing on bare skin.
Stripped of mores below, I long to allay
my burdens by exposing scars within.

Reaching Out

Like a branch that reaches out toward the sun
Or a leaf that gently touches the sky
steadfast and growing with roots running deep
or a robin preparing to fly
like a wing that glides on a gentle wind
seeking its way to a nest
like a wave gently rolling ashore
Searching for a place to rest
Like two hearts beating from many miles away
thumping in perfect harmony
trying to find some common ground, to set their spirits free
Like a kite that slowly dances across the sky
or the sun that chases the moon
like a rainbow arched from right to left that faded much too soon
Like a dolphin leaping over a perfect wave
or a shooting star that glitters in its flight
The soft sweet whisper of a gentle sea breeze
as the daytime slowly turns into night
like a mother and child sharing time
precious moments in a gentle embrace
like the the sun that rises in the eastern sky
with a smile on its early morning face
like the golden rays reaching out to touch
the green soft earth below
like a love that seeks to find an answer
one you might already know
like a song that reaches out to find
an open and receptive ear
like the person scared to make a change, suddenly losing that fear
like a road that reaches out to nowhere, suddenly finding its place
like two people standing lost gazing face to face
Where love’s blindness brings clear vision
Hearts seek out the perfect place

Hello Friend!
You are welcome!
Don’t underrate that we are boasting about ourselves.
Don’t treat us as the suppliers of the basic needs only.
Try to reach our inner voice.

When you get disturbed,
You can come and roam under this canopy.
You certainly feel the ambience pious and solicitous
The green cover soothes and cheers your heart.
You can regain your energy and confidence.

You know, your forefathers roamed happily in these glades.
Fairies often came down and rested here.
Knowing this, they used to worship us.
Their cultures and festivals were tied with us.
Believe it or not, still we can hear their voices lingering on in this air.

During autumn, we shed our leaves
And in spring we get the lost glory back.
We never get demoralized.
We know Life and its secrets.

“Service” is our motto.
You sit on chairs;
Sleep on cots;
Eat our fruits and nuts
Everything is being used - hides, herbs, roots, leaves and what not...
Store your valuables in the wooden boxes;
We die and transform into coffins to safeguard your corpse. Why?
We know the purpose of living.
Living or dying doesn’t matter.
Serving others gives the bliss of heaven.

Look at the age- old Oak trees
Standing like staunch pillars
They are symbols for strong determination and invincible spirit.

Our strength lies in our roots.
They are hidden in this soil.
The inner strength is superior to all.
Look at the mighty trees. How humble they are!

The calamities sometimes cause severe damage to us.
But we can withstand and revamp this pristine nature..
Is it not the sign of our perseverance?

Hundreds of creatures find their dwellings in us.
Are we not protecting them like a mother?

Dear friend,
Recall the moral of the story that you read in your childhood.
“Enjoy the egg but not be greedy and try not to cut open the hen.”

Remember,
Protecting trees means you are building a heaven for your grandchildren.

A Painful Tribute To My Earth

A Painful Tribute to my earth
Before me you were
I am here and you are
Thus both of us are together now.
Alas, I will be gone and you will go on!
You are giving me endlessly
And spreading on me lavishly.
Despite it, I plunder you;
I exploit you;
I mistreat you;
I don’t care for you.
I have forgotten that you are a living organism -
You need my care;
You need my concern;
You need my gentle respect.
You are not losing me;
I am losing you.
I am depleting you;
I am exhausting you;
I am rushing you to devastation
And in that I am rushing to my own exit.
What was, is nor more;
What is, will be gone
What will be, is not known.
Help me become aware of your sigh
Help me become aware of your neigh
Help me become aware of my own destruction
Help me save you to save myself.
Show me your might
Show me your power
Show me your anger
Show me your arrogance
Make me learn
Make me move
Make me understand your cry
Cry; make me hear your cry!
Cradled me like a mother then
Let me cradle you now
Help me help you
To achieve my selfishness
Love you, mother earth!
Love you dearly!
Thank you for nourishing me
Thank you for holding me
For enfolding me
Help me love you and love you more!
