Reaching Out

Like a branch that reaches out toward the sun
Or a leaf that gently touches the sky
steadfast and growing with roots running deep
or a robin preparing to fly
like a wing that glides on a gentle wind
seeking its way to a nest
like a wave gently rolling ashore
Searching for a place to rest
Like two hearts beating from many miles away
thumping in perfect harmony
trying to find some common ground, to set their spirits free
Like a kite that slowly dances across the sky
or the sun that chases the moon
like a rainbow arched from right to left that faded much too soon
Like a dolphin leaping over a perfect wave
or a shooting star that glitters in its flight
The soft sweet whisper of a gentle sea breeze
as the daytime slowly turns into night
like a mother and child sharing time
precious moments in a gentle embrace
like the the sun that rises in the eastern sky
with a smile on its early morning face
like the golden rays reaching out to touch
the green soft earth below
like a love that seeks to find an answer
one you might already know
like a song that reaches out to find
an open and receptive ear
like the person scared to make a change, suddenly losing that fear
like a road that reaches out to nowhere, suddenly finding its place
like two people standing lost gazing face to face
Where love’s blindness brings clear vision
Hearts seek out the perfect place

As We Walk

The sky will cover us tonight.
The town crackles beneath our feet
for your eyes' unsettling tilt
and your luminosity in yellows and reds.
Next to you, my bones shine pure white
through the veil of my skin.
Buildings flail in your presence
blanch, and turn the stale gray of concrete.
Your voice reaches out to stoplights and mailboxes,
they writhe in your radiance.
In one second, they are destroyed,
left in humps of twisted metal,
only to spring up to life once more,
plain from what they have seen.
Tonight, even the moon stoppers up her mouth,
flowing with history and folklore
at the heavy trod of your feet
against the bronzed stone.
Tonight the sky and earth will be silent,
the dusky hues of night our only company.

Shades of Haze and Hue

Captured in shades of haze and hue
Vintage texture or bright as sky blue
Picture perfect Polaroid preserve present to past
Your eye captures the truth that will forever last

Free… clicking away, no boundaries set
But contents captured in frames and boundaries met.
You caught my frame of mind
In many frames of rhyme,
Solitude, love confined,
Memory held captive in a frame on a pedestal of mine.
But still, I see stills of past times when I lay obediently still
To your request for mannequin movement;
Pose.
Setting to capture at future point of capture,
Jumping into shot before shutter closed, Snap!
Captured.

In shades of haze and hue
Vintage texture or bright as sky blue
Picture perfect Polaroid preserve present to past
Your eye captures the truth that will forever last

You trying to make contact with what’s beyond the lens,
I zoomed into your life beyond the contact of mere friends
And zoomed out to see the surroundings blend
Into your beauty, not theirs, How does Mother Nature comprehend
Picturesque mountainous terrain,
Firefly lit against the window that darkness cannot contain.
Gravel roads unravel loads of history, colourful yet plain.
Travelled souls, now photos told of memories gained.

Captured in shades of haze and hue
Vintage texture or bright as sky blue
Picture perfect Polaroid preserve present to past
Your eye captures the truth that will forever last

My Days Without You

The plane landed
The wind was high
There was excitement in the air…
New people, new country, new life
Leaving loved ones behind
I had come-----
With tears in my eyes

The sun was high
The sky clear

My skin tingled of the unknown
For he was not there

The sky is dull….
The rain is pouring
The station is quiet and smoky
I saw him there
Like a breath of fresh air
A ray of golden sunshine
Brightening up my life
But the moment passed
All to quickly
And he was gone
Leaving behind the long days
And cold weary nights….
In a new country
With new people
And tears still shining in my eyes……….

For Roseanne

There's no way I can say
The stars belong to you
The sky will always be blue
just for you

Birds they fly and must be free
Flowers don't only bloom in spring
But I'd give you anything
if it were up to me

All the world would adore you
with songs and beautiful things
Sunsets would last forever
and cool breeze my love would bring

I'd kiss your hand
and kneel down at your feet
I'd point to all the land
and say it's from me

Butterflies will fill the skies
Hummingbirds at your side
I say these lines to make you mine
I think it would be so kind

There is no way I can say
the stars belong to you
The sky will always be blue
just for you

But there is one thing I can do
and that is give you my heart
and promise that I'll be true
just for you
