The Language of Blue

Sinking into the lyrical language of blue
Prime layers of still solitude speak
 With muted voices
  In sapphire soprano rhapsodies,
Lines of bass blushes, electric flecks of neon fire.

Hear in dusky blue’s modal shafts of light,
  The peaceful plaintive sotto voce
 Set an indigo scene
In delft lingua for a pas de duex
With trebling hues lapis and arbot.

Blue chants a lexis, a cerulean chroma glow
Sung in tender tenor tones patois
To translate soft sky blue aqua idioms,
As minor phrases meditate on azure,
In prose text that wafts in periwinkle blooms.

Unhurried blue on blue in plain-chant paeans,
Whispers and bedazzles teal twilight librettos
Of cradle songs in soft celeste waves
Of cobalt midnight in the consoling,
And the mystic, language of blue.

Rhythmic Perfection (Anapestic Trimeter)

There's a river that twists in the mind
that I plunder and ravish with sieves,
on crusades to the summit of rhyme
where my Phoenix of tropes and schemes live.

In a war to free diction's fair Queen
where the Soldiers of Babel bemuse
and the modern day graceless regimes
are in battles to stifle my muse!

In my quest for her verse of prestige
I have traveled a nexus of words
with this Lexis of language on siege;
where the dissonant hum drum is heard!

Oh, the poise of my bayonet firm
as I pin down my thoughts in a rush!
Oh, the will of the language it squirms
as her essence of glory I brush!

She's the Queen Muse that whispers within
as she watches me battle with style,
she supplies me the yarn that I spin
as she lends me her rhythm awhile.

It's the moment her Highness is freed
that the Armies of Dissonance fall
and the sound of Perfection can bleed
in those lyrical sounds that enthrall!

My Muse

MY MUSE ©

Oath with my indelible INK
INK flows like BLOOD
BLOOD runs through my VEINS
VEINS keeps me alive/ANIMATE
ANIMATE to write till all ink dries UP
UP until all the lexis are GONE
GONE till my heart ANSWERS
ANSWERS to that which am called-TO,
TO a divine clarion call,
CALLED to elevate the moon out of her SPHERE
SPHERE of the imaginary inhabits MY MUSE©
MY MUSE© will never desert me

Death of a Poem

Cold-blooded,
I poison my precious poem
with the tip of my quivering quill
to quench the venomous quest
of my crystal inkpot!

Burying the edited lexis from my perished poetry
in the grisly graveyard of
dusty Dictionaries and tattered Thesaurus
I nip a bud from a withered bouquet of
touch-me not blues
and preserve the petals in the perky pages
of my decaying diary…

I push my pristine poetries in the ‘tower of silence’
for the heartless hungry vultures
who will devour them briskly,
while the inedible skeletons will melt
in the holy fires of eternity…

I crumple my unpublished work
and toss them in the unfathomable depths of dust-bin
lying near the moth-eaten closet at the Editor’s dusty desk!
With my ink-stained immaculate fingers
I strangle my perennial poem to premature demise.

Lets pray for her sanctimonious salvation
And hope she attains Nirvana
and get a peerless placement in
the lexiconian library of immortality…
Amen!

Essence

Life – herein I found you defined
Simplicity? Mad rush, in rat-race…
Sweats from the frets of acceptance
Mine quota of earth’s bliss

Life – living and its complexities
The universe, as polygon, and its sides?
Just the tipping elusive,
And rumbles, even in pursuit of peace

And in its leading – Life,
The placing of order, and schooling,
Of days, nights, harmattan, and rains
Yet chaos leads the many elements

Living the quotes,
In its unbending lexis
And some twists along
Seeking for happy endings

The Illuminated Muse

The Illuminated Muse
by
Ingrid Showalter Swift

You light up the circuits of my psyche with lexis
vibrate within me
daze me
sway me without weight or measure
I breath in the misted air of salt and gesture
and in it you lie in wait

You fill my cells
with oxygen and mercury
the temperature rises
my bearings drop
my center settle casts away
to an island of green palm breezes
waves of art washing…poetry like walk way stones laid and lead ...before me
and I am the eel in the sea
the elk on the prairie
I am an elephant
tusks and trunk held high to sky
baroque-ing out my demands to the dusted waterless ways of the Serengeti
Rise up in me…as the ground rises before the tectonic hand of God
Rise up in me atomic
Equatorial in clime
Tornatonic in impact
I am ferocious
in my thirst
Run me down with your intent
annihilate all argument
and end the war between us
forever

for you are simply
a blue sapphire flickering in the firelight
Tumbling blue hues in a washer of stone
Flares of luminosity…raking the sky to a plunderous pink
a radiance
like an alien ball in the forest
…illuminati imaginations....
trailing sparklings that follow the fairies into the dark wood

You are warm milk
into which I fall
to the creamy center
float on clouded dark dreams
chewy and sweet
the toffee reminiscence
of….morning coffee…and black birds in flight
and you are the birth of child
in the hands of heaven
you are everything arcane ...nubile and blessed and damned at once
and you alone drive my pen
to wagon wheel and weltings center

Woman of the Desert

Woman of the Desert
Lexis of the wise squeezes into the zephyr just to be heard by those in the wildness
But rather it seems the woman of the land-her ears have been blocked by the acrimonious
And hardships of life and decided to pursue the wants and desires of the flesh
Using all her beauty, inwardly and outwardly in exchange for worldly gratifications
With her sexual energy transfer power-she has dragged the innocent into pungent shadows
Promising the innocent and naïve unconditional love-just to suck all their strength and wealthy, because Infamy and guilt are not in her dictionary
Any man that offers her present desires will be glorified
She is the Woman of the Desert

Be careful because her love is wrapped in her selfishness and deceptive vessel
Even if she speaks wise words; it is just the scheme to drive you to her trap
She is the woman without direction, she hounds the wind and its destination is annulled
Given equal rights, chances and clout with the head, she has abused the rights to her death
Please do not slam or judge her, her orientation was corrupted from birth,
Mother, Father or wife figure was not initiated to her in her early age, she create family without a father, being the head-her wealthy is her power and she can hire services of love
Treasure which was met for her soul mate-she has offer it to every stranger she meets
Dearest never mess-with the Woman of the Desert

Her womb is barren but she still produces offspring after her kind
Her Love dried years back but she still lives and draw men to her Lust
She has drunk from her Mother’s calabash prior to her age and eaten the apple of the garden
Now she has no fears just tears, it’s scary because her charisma has been lofty beyond her character
Her breast has been sucked by the beast and woe will be he that touches or tastes them
Soft skin, short skirt, spiritually sick and self-enslaved into sophisticated borrowed life
The birds of the air sings are her songs-and those of the sea drinks her poisoned waters
Her spouse left her for the beast, so she now walks and works in the shadow of evil
Be careful, be warned, be caution, do not fall into her trap
She is the Woman of the Desert

Rondel Pain (For the Rondel Contest Sponsored By: Jared Pickett)

Rondel Pain

Poetry can inflict pain like a sharp rondel dagger,
Encircling each word with bigoted judgments on hand.
Down a spiral staircase a poet’s thoughts may stagger.
Semi-circular fashioned, ideas traverse memories’ span.

Hysterical, political…subject does not matter.
Orderliness and cleverness mete out the author’s plan.
Poetry can inflict pain like a sharp rondel dagger,
Encircling each word with bigoted judgments on hand.

Banter securely bound, released by creative augur.
Can choose many words found in vocabulary land.
Lexis gone thrilling can kill the heart of an iceman –
Stop, please! Choose kindly words; become a pain free enabler.
Poetry can inflict pain like a sharp rondel dagger.

My Capitulation.

Those sweet words
Hot dulcet endearments
Of Midnight murmurs
Spoken of chaste hearts
Genuine purity
Of unsullied eyes gazing
Passions copious moments
In a feathered freefall
To rest upon me…

Those gentle hands
So softly surrounding
In a smoldering caress
Of icy fingers and warm lips
Two spirits explore
That sweet breathing lexis
Of a love once heeded
Born in the fiery kiln
That beats within me…

Those rarest of moments
Of a fleeting vulnerability
I stand before you unashamed
Never hiding away
Only you have seen my true face
Laying under the masks
And still you kissed my eyes
As I surrendered to you
All that defines me…

Bully, Oh Bully

Pronunciate, predominate, preponderate, prevaricate,
Precipitate, pontificate, pomegranate, postulate –
Problem?
Do not attempt to look these words up!
That dictionary shouldn’t be w-i-d-e open like your mouth
Or can’t you handle multi-syllabic lexis?
I thought you were TOUGH, MIGHTY and STRONG
Yet lower,
Lower,
Down into the ground
A million thoughts lay scattered, here, there and everywhere
WAIT A MINUTE
I thought you were INVINCIBLE and POWERFUL
So HARD that you could DEFEAT anything that came your way
I THOUGHT YOU COULD RUN AND hide
Why, this room is as LOUD as s-i-l-e-n-c-e
I see that your friends aren’t with you now
What happened to your BIG mouth! Cat got your tongue?
But when your friends are around
Your tongue can’t resist a good workout
Up, down, t-w-i-r-l it a-r-o-u-n-d
I thought that Audacious was your middle name
Oh, here comes Georgia Giraffe. Cat got your tongue again?
The old YOU jumps out and reveals itself
When YOU LOOK down AT PEOPLE
Those known as the vulnerable
So why is it that when people LOOK down AT YOU
You put on a mask?
Such an innocent and friendly face!
Scared now? Met your match?
I thought that if you had a pound for every fight you had won
Every human alive would be penniless
Silly sausage! Oh, sorry! Offended?
Truth hurt? Are you a victim?
Well, imagine what it feels like to be a victim!
Where the world is an e-v-e-r-l-a-s-t-i-n-g nightmare
Look here, look there, but there is no escape route
I-m-a-g-i-n-e what it feels like to want to t-u-r-n back the clocks
Where you can never see the shine
If it isn’t too much of a HARD task, then
Bully, OH bully

-Imagine-

The Most Concerned

Impressed, and sit wondering
At concerns honest and serious
Of the bards blessed, in issues
Of today; Burning and appalling.
Nature laments, No, is sobbing
On its malignant bruises
Her inmate intimate infracted,
Shaming even the wildest of beasts.
Eagles, Crows ,King Fishers
And cats find no fun chasing fish
As rivers, lakes, brooks and fields
Full with prey, dead and rotten.
Who can pass by, without a hand
On the nostrils to save the self,
Through the adorned urban streets
Of esteem and mad pride !
Beyond restrictions, laws
And punishments severe are
Hooting and brawling oblivious
From even the cultured mass.
Eloquence even eliminates evils,
So would lexis sanitize souls
Submerged in self and social sins
That cause calamities callous.
Let us, bards, transmit a memo sore,
To keep water, air, plants and soil
At its form s destined for futurity,
For, we might need a breath to regret.
