Best Languid Poems
Sublimity ...
Bandit of my breath
Summer blond tresses, pure
Splashed with amber bands, aglow
Slowly twisting down to soft, stretchy curls
Bouncing on your shoulders with heavenly mirth
Like a child bouncing her bed Christmas morn
Exquisite texture, as combed Turkish velour
Meant for the delve of only tender hands
Loving fingers that honor privilege
Every touch savored, adored
Each strand a rarity
A golden thread
Ephemeral.

When soft zephyrs are stirring arbor leaves
Words may be overheard whispered from trees.
Leaned against a trunk, my ears on alert,
This ranger heard soft words from a filbert.
A long-limbed water oak, leaning half bent,
Wryly some cross-cultural humor lent:
“An ancient Sawtooth oak nearby is king
His wide girth makes him The Lord of the Rings.”
Wanda the willow was awash in woes,
Dripping with languid leaves down to her toes,
Wondering if she would live some morrow
With strong upright arms as a saguaro.
A stately stout chestnut amidst the grove
Is the President tree where children rove.
One, draped on a limb, attention to gain
Fell; our President said, “I feel your pain!”
A gnarly bald cypress with knobby knees
Said, "When I tumble down, promise me please
My fallen large trunk you will boldly seize
And shape it a ship's bow to sail the seas."
A maudlin Mulberry preached and raved
Saying, “A fallen log cannot be saved.”
Yet Salty dogs yelled, “Shiver me timbers!”
On caravels of north wood, once limber.
An adjacent Scotch pine needled me too,
“Pine nuts are better than ice cream for you.”
Feeling that his advice was out of bounds
I arose to resume my forest rounds.

No matter what fact-
some movie told you that,
they preened and printed,
stole what fitted,
and then sold,
and said it thinned it in...
No matter how much fat,
no matter what they attack!
Some movie told you that,
the filter will stack-
the rivers will run into rags,
and then some movie told you that!
Own it girl!
Eat spasms and commit to the randoms because this is where they stand um!
Hold onto porridge like it's cold and in tandem!
I know I know what I just said,
but your society isn't red,
it's opportune to be a bed,
no boredom does not beget!
It spends-
every last trend,
every wonder in the bend,
and the eager,
staunchly sour to be in rent.

Wholeness of our bodies
have surrendered. Now made up
of only bones and flesh
No mystic, No divine
The constant mind
will never rest
The rebirth will
be lost
leaving your soul as a shadow
quickly hitting the shade
Painful as a mother losing
a child
an unborn soul will mourn;
wishing to set off
but trapped under a rock.

Last night
As my husband was working
He came across a sight
That gave him intense fright!
A full bodied apparition
A girl, angelic of face
with black hair to her waist
Dressed in garb
From another time
Her expression
From another dimension
At him- through him she stared
A circling of energy they shared
It poured outside
Yet she was fully dry
Shivers ran throughout his body
as this figure was moving so slow
with sadness, depression
Surrounding her like a cloak
Was she real?
Or was she a ghost?

Languid waves lapping the shore, syrupy
Lulling winds in hiatus, abeyant
Water clinging, sad to let go, sticky
Silence piercing, unnerving the gulls to mute, tranquillity
The wetness lingers on, soaking in, clammy
Water colors seemingly apt for painting such a scene, self portrait
Prevailing wind, the conductor, hushes the onshore ensemble, quietude.
Calmness is a welcome interlude from rage and bluster, quelled
It's just, for a day or so

Maybe it’s monstrous to murder
the music in my mind
Turning tunes to feathers
floating on currents of ether
like waves on whiskey seas
Black cherry bourbon and soda
sweet with heat
bubbling in my blood
converting my consciousness
reverting me to who I should be
making a mockery of my insecurity
my anguish and anxiety
as I dance alone again another night
A golden rope of hope holds me upright
for one more day
though it’s beginning to fray
There’s no solace in this silence
A time machine for trauma
reminding me why I am this way
I wonder what words would win you
as liquor is a languid lover
that leaves like every other

She had a languid demeanor as all eyes were upon her.
Her face like porcelain, never allowing a smile to occur.
Along the red carpet she gracefully stepped slowly,
Not considering others, as if she felt them somehow lowly.
An elegant gown draped over her perfect goddess like form.
On such an icy night, it was hardly designed to keep her warm
Her delicate hands were pale, fingers slender, nails pearly.
She was not a minute late, nor even a minute early.
Pausing for a camera shot, she took a pose utterly divine.
Her ruby red lips caught the light as they shone like wine.
Raven hair shimmered caught by the cameraman’s flashes.
Her blue eyes beguiled, with the languid flutter of lashes.
Ushered to her seat, she failed to acknowledge anyone.
Many engaged in conversation and many drinking having fun.
She spoke not a word. Still no smile from her beautiful lips.
The wine poured, she raised a glass and took tiny sips.
When a question was directed to her, she answered politely.
Obvious she felt otherwise concerned or discomfort slightly.
Her undeniable beauty, that she must be adored, belied her.
Reason for the languid demeanor, the empty chair beside her.
