As I sit here
There are so many things
I could write about
There are so many things
That I just want to shout
My life is a mess
And so is my country
As part of this conciousness
I sometimes imagin
What could be
I'm not a politician or even a soldier
I don't live by looking
Over people's shoulders
I just want to live
And try to live right
I believe in freedom
And the wars they did fight
They fought for independence
And our rights to be free
Their blood was spent
Because of what they believed
They fought to end slavery
In the name of God
No matter what His name is
God is God
They fought for freedom
While Nazis had the Jews
By the throught
They fought for freedom
While Big Brother approached
When something that seemed right
Was just another sour note
They sent soldiers
To stop the communist growth
We saw dictators
Almost make themselves kings
These and other moments
We had to help freedom ring
And this present turmoil
Called the Arab Spring
They think it's new
But it's a very old thing
Some will live while others die
But eventually there will be
Freedom for each and every life
Even in free countries
We still fight this fight
To give every man something
He believes is his right
The only thing constant
In this world is change
Nothing lives forever
And crumbles as remains
Refugee and consentration camps
Lay empty and dormant
The captives were set free
As the bible informed us
Who knows what we'll be
If on earth we live again
A slaves dream
Is to one day be a free man

Land of Liberty

By Deborah Johnson, copyright 2015

Only in America the land of the free, you may find men hanging from a tree.Men will cross the border expecting to be free; instead they catch a bullet in the eye or the knee.

Only in America the land of the free, native are slaughtered, and/or driven away from the sea. Men will deliver goods, for trading you see; the men must never speak of the word "we."

Only in America the land of the free, you may be shot in your head, while lying in your bed. Men take babies straight from the womb; crush them with no remorse and have lunch by noon.

Only in America the land of the free, you may sit in your living room , while watching rape and/or murder on a TV. Men will go to clubs just to get laid, women will go to jail if they are paid.

Only in America the land of the free; murderers are licensed, so are the theive's, schools are literally war zones, while children are not allowed to turn on their phones.

Only in America, the land of the free; dogs are more privileged.... than you or me!

The Dismantling of the All-Powerful Land of Liberty

You know, they say thou shalt not steal
And thou shalt not kill
But everything that seemed fictional
Has now become real
Send kids overseas
To fix the governments mistake
Guns and bombs exploding
Is how they shall wake
Taking what you can
And looking up to false idols
Giving back broken promises
And livin like supermodels
Changin the words of the Bible
To fit your needs and wants
And destroyin everyone's morals
With you fake publicity stunts
Letting terrorists into our country
Because we're the land of the free
Makin room for illegal immigrants
And havin American residents flee
Everything today is prejudice
And everyone has a certain right
What happened to free speech?
Can I even write this since I'm White?
It all boils down to money
And who is the greater power
But is it really going to matter
When you're down to your final hour?
So keep rewriting the Constitution
And coming up with more laws
To the thieves that are in control
You all deserve an applause

The Land of Liberty

Dust fell upon my face;
A soft touch from the sandman
Light faded away with the night's lace,
The sun knelt with a last, weak scan

Stars embroidered the sky,
Leaves of sheets fell upon the clouds
The cold pervaded through the crowd
Stillness stood by

A delicate texture touched my hair
As it pulled me into its arms
The texture of the warm pillow's charm
Fighting it I wouldn't dare

Gently, my eyelashes touched,
Peacefuly, they hugged
Slowly, my eyes closed
As I drifted into a land untouched

Silence knocked on my door
Displaying scenes I have never seen
Flashes of light showed on the screen
One single touch would allow me to explore

Shall I dare and touch to enter and explore this land?
Can I handle anything I shall face?
Fear crept into my courageous brace
Yet, the sword of excitement was strongly held in my hand

I shall dare and enter this land
I shall dare and dream
For it is a land with a unique gleam
It is a land where spirits shall be freed

Dream is a reflection of what some feel
It is a cure where some wounds are healed
But, it be a monster awaiting to be released
To scare its passenger; awaking them with a squeal

Now the courageous shall supreme
For who dares and enters possesses a brave heart
Tearing every speck of fear apart
Ruling the land of dreams....

And so the land of liberty
Dares every creature
To enter its surprising features
Observing those who shall face their hidden destiny....

Sweet Land of Liberty

It is horrifyingly apparent,
that this new Rome will fall soon.

The wolves are roaming,
seeking for any weakness,
and we are weakened
by our own lack of alarm.

Some spoke out,
some told of a degenerate culture,
of corruption and disinterest.

Some armed themselves,
but a house divided upon itself
cannot stand for long.

This Republic will disintegrate;
be scattered by ill-winds,
as were all republics before it.

Then we will see at last
the worm in the apple
was none other than us.

Land of Liberty

Blood marks the score of a finished game
Victory champions over boundless disdain
Prosperous oceans cherish tides of mirth
Tumultuous ties divide; Faith gives birth
Annihilation arrives at a familiar destination
Power ferries the raft of exploitation
Beautiful and spacious eyes reflect
Amber waves of pain can only collect
Reason masquerading as a noble friend
Purpose in the name of glory and pretend
Treasure stolen by a current threat
Past exchanged for a future debt
Battles waged as resistance remains free
Subjugated souls sing their pining plea
All sweet dreams are fated to cease
Unseen Lords pilfer everlasting peace
Mercy requires a beating heart
Capitulation demands a willing part
A realm once known for liberating choice
Here rests a nation, a sea, and a dying voice

We put them in power, and then we do nothing but complain.
No matter what they do,we stare at them with utmost disdain.

We who work and hold America so very dear,
Are not smashing windows in Portland in stolen riot gear.

We do not put criminals up, to bow to nor to behold.
Those cracking this country with destruction, and joy untold.

Some of us do really honor the Red, White and Blue.
We love the USA and all divisiveness, we most heartily eschew!
