Best Keep Your Eyes Open Poems
Sometimes when the road gets short
and your body becomes weary
It seems difficult to keep your eyes open
There is someone who will carry you
Have you met the man named Jesus?
Not the man of churches
He's not waiting to rain down fire
He wishes to embrace you in his arms
Forgiveness and rest are his to give
Have you met this man named Jesus?
Your burdens may be heavy
There is no reason to carry them alone
You can give them all to him
He's a God of flesh and bone
Have you met the man named Jesus
Have you accepted the gift that he offers?
Fully paid through his great sacrifice
Not a religion a relationship
He will never let you down
He is the man named Jesus
He knows everything about you
He accepts you as you are
It's not about being good enough
He patiently waits at your door
Respond to the gentle knocking
You won't be alone anymore
Religion teaches us we have to earn our way to heaven.
God knows this is an impossible task for us humans. I am
thankful that Jesus paid the price for our salvation and I accept
his amazing gift. Have you met the Man names Jesus?
(A Correspondence Course for Anyone Who Would Be Loved
by Someone Like Me)
Of course, it is clear; you deserve to be loved,
But your 'romances' so far are not going well,
It seems those you're attracting are all immature,
But, except for that fact, things "are great" you can tell!
You're open to love almost all of the time,
But more serious people are nowhere in sight,
And it seems so unfair that they're hiding this way,
How you long for a partner to hold you each night!
It's good though that you're not ashamed to seek help
And I promise to work hard to further your cause,
No one doubts your intention to marry my friend,
But to be safe on road heart must know driving laws.
Your license so far has been "learner's permit,"
And a person must practice to play a good game
You can see it in ones that you date, not yourself?

Poet's Notes:
I hope to make this a series of poems! Keep your eyes open!
And Good Luck! Noone ever has more love than they need! Love that overwhelms is not love!
When you walk outside into the open air
When you look around at all the beauty everywhere
Think of butterflies fluttering all around
Filling the atmosphere from the sky to the ground
When you feel the wind across your face
Remember my love is all over the place
When you see one lone butterfly fluttering by with such beauty and grace
Think of me and the last time you saw a smile on my face
Remember the joy we shared in our lifetime together
The bond we shared was the most precious treasure
You are blessed with memories of our years on earth
Just as God blessed me on the day of your birth
I have moved on to a glorious place
But daily I am still blessed with your loving face
When you see a butterfly, think of me
That is my spirit flying high and free
I watch over you my dear loved ones, each day and night
I am so proud of your choices to live your life right
My love for all of you will continue to flow
I miss throwing my arms around you more than you know
I am flying with Angels in the Heaven’s above
We watch over you always and send down our love
Look for the butterflies with colors so bright
For they host the spirits of loved ones now out of sight
You must keep your chin up and take care of yourself
But remember God sends His Angels to sometimes help
When you least expect it, at a time of great need
That’s when an Angel appears to do a good deed
Keep your eyes open and be prepared
Great blessings will be upon you when you’re least aware
Watch for the butterflies as they flutter around
They will soon appear in your life when they are less likely to be found
My heart is with you as I watch from afar
Angels walk with you wherever you are
Trust in my word and know that many blessings are upon you
For God has sent Angels who will help you through
Hold memories close and cherish those in your life with love
Trust in my word and in the Lord above

Bang went the thunder, lightning flashed
rain pounding hard, surf hitting the sand with a crash
These are the sounds that I hear
Waking me up as dawn draws near
Wondering what today will bring
Not sure if I’ll even hear the birds sing
As I sit and wait for the coffee to brew
Thinking of all the things I should do
Sitting here listening to the sounds
Listening to Mother Nature as she abounds
Her noise is loud her flashes are bright
But here I sit with my coffee all wrapped up tight
I think Mother Nature has this day planned
She’s letting us all know life is grand
Don’t take anything for granted, you must know
And keep your eyes open for the next rainbow.

I HAVE TO GET SOME EARLY SLEEP
FOR TOMORROWS GAME
I HAVE TO FACE THAT NOLAN RYAN
HE THROWS SMOKE AND FLAME
YOU HAVE TO PAY ATTENTION
RYAN DON'T MESS AROUND
HE'S BEEN KNOWN TO STRIKE ME OUT
WHEN HE'S ON THE MOUND
HE HAS A FLAMING FASTBALL
YET I CAN GET AROUND
IF HE LEAVES IT UP A BIT
I'LL TAKE THAT PITCH DOWNTOWN
HE HAS A BIG ADVANTAGE
A WICKED BREAKING BALL
I'VE SEEN SO MANY STAND THERE
BAFFLED BY THE CALL
IT TRULY IS A BEAUTY
THE WAY IT SWEEPS ACROSS THE PLATE
SOMETHING LIKE HIS FASTBALL
YOU SWING AND ITS TOO LATE
OPPOSITE WITH HIS CHANGE-UP
YOU'LL BE WAY OUT FRONT
IF YOU WANT TO PISS HIM OFF
GO AHEAD AND BUNT
I KNOW I'M REGGIE JACKSON
NOLAN RYAN IS THE MAN
TRY TO KEEP YOUR EYES OPEN
MAKE CONTACT IF YOU CAN
JULY 13,1979 REGGIE JACKSON BROKE UP A NOLAN RYAN NO HITTER, 2 OUTS BOTTOM OF THE NINTH
Everyone has seen a rainbow, no doubt,
at its end, you had best keep an eye out:
for fairy folk may be lurking about.
Leprechauns can be grumpy, funny folks;
that some say love to play mischievous jokes
on naysayers who label them a hoax.
If it's their pot of gold, you'd be after,
try searching behind an attic rafter;
where kids readily swear they've heard laughter.
The Irish like to bribe them with some food,
thinking a free meal will keep them subdued:
but the wee folks are amazingly shrewd.
They love whiskey, and they'll steal it from you:
if you forget to leave a drop or two:
spilling a little on the floor will do.
Wherever a rainbow touches the ground,
keep your eyes open; have a look around:
some folks say a pot of gold might be found.
From hunting comes
From hunting drums
From hunting hums
All bright stars
Near and far
In New York or Trafalgar
Those stars in skyscrapers
Those dazzling gold vapours
The government shapers
The controller of all papers
All go on hunting
And keep counting
And measuring sometimes too
In the treasury
Keep your eyes open
The lids may shut up
Keep the cup wide
You will see everywhere
Ensnaring unaware
The tiger killing the helpless deer
Deer who love destiny
Who worship deities
Members of the laity
Dependent on goddesses and gods
In their odds
Fall very easy prey
To the hunters obsessional play
Their God has no say
In the decay
By hunters in dust they lay
Shrunk tottering mewing aching
Finally breaking down
Into the absolute immobility
Thanks to the myriad kinds
Of the guns of the hunters behind
I perk up my ear
In the civilized forest
And hear the guns
Nuns and monks are in readiness for nursing
Churches mosques temples towering for services
What a grace
My every molecule encapsulated in attention
Hears the sound of the gun
And feels the consequent death
The blue sky we love so much laughs nonetheless
The ground underneath
Is moistened in crimson red
Black velvet
First hunt the doe, a decoy
Leopards and tigers follow in joy
We are all pretty toy
In the hands of the hunters
We look on in wonder
Of grandeur of the capital
Take or surrender
You may grunt
Fruitlessly

You have to join the hunt

Not for contest since the lines have exceeded the stipulated limit which I failed to notice when I first read the contest details.
Sometimes I think I should
identify more with Goldfinger
than with James Bond
A little heartlessness
is essential for survival
A pretty face
may hide
an evil heart
So keep your eyes open
and listen to Shirley sing
I plan on seeing "Skyfall" this week
while getting a LICENSED massage
Have you met yours?
Your soulmate, your angel?
Unlike Cinderella - this it is no fable
Everyone has one
You just never know
A friend, a stranger
You just you never know
Keep your eyes open
You mind open too
One day they will
They'll make their way to you
Fig tree fruit...fig tree fruit...fig tree fruit
Eaten by toddlers...fig tree fruit!
Gave elders stomach ulcers
Be careful for this is a fishing bridge
Elders warned...
Play not here lest you tumble into the river and drawn
Adamant!....the fig tree fruit
Birds do not play on a sticky trap
They emphasized
Rebellion!....the fig tree fruit
That is sweet and also this!
“Made a jumpy greedy cat fall on its back”
Wisdom of ages not heeded....fig tree fruit!
That one is better than this one...
She said...infidelity!
Where is he now....tears!
“Snuffing tobacco is the one already in your nose”
A sound adage...”for the one on your finger belongs to the wind”
Regret!
A husband is worth your respect...treasure him
“Spite not a male grasshopper”...never forget...
Wealth is not love...love it not!...good advice
“A foolish woman tares down her home with her own hands”
Says the WORD!...a fig tree fruit
Guard your ears
For hearsay destroys the home
Watch your words
They are seed...in due time you will reap!
Tears you will shade...to your knees regrets you shall whisper....
No comforter
Naivety is what you are doing...warning!
Halt before you are haunted
Where you are staying keep your eyes open
For trouble is bred by those close to you....
In your sojourn...remember...
Jealousy, envy and malice abounds
Plotters and schemers are always around
To some places...revert not
For foes there your life can snare
The fig tree fruit!
Keep Your Eyes Open
By Franklin Price

Keep your eyes open
Ears and nose to the wind
Inspiration will come
To your senses my friend
Whether poet or painter
Writer, sculptor or king
Observing surroundings
Will bring songs to sing
If you seek to know nothing
Stick your head in the sand
Make up what you want to
Do not understand
Then close your eyes tightly
Pinch nose, muffle ears
Close and lock doors and windows
Live inside with your fears
Long I have lived in the Bible Belt,
Where every flavor of faith is for sale,
Oh I've dipped my toe to test a few,
And I've found myself in many pews,
So this is how I'll begin this tale.
One Sunday morn so crisp and bright,
I thought I'd finally found the light,
At a new church non-denominational,
Where the word seemed so very pure and whole,
Yet the spirit changed once I stepped inside.
Just listen to what they preach,
This doesn't match what they teach,
I was told this was someplace else,
This isn't what the flyer sells,
So quietly I waited humble and meek.
And as soon as the service was over,
I went looking for the preacher or pastor,
I said "I'm lost and the address must be wrong too,
Cause I looked for a church but instead found a condo."
And I was asked, "What do you mean Brother?"
Outside this sanctuary are the common grounds,
Where love, forgiveness, and acceptance abounds,
But in this great and most hallowed of halls,
Is where these magnanimous ideas fall,
And where the true private owners can be found.
Then I was told that I had it all wrong,
That I came when the message was too strong,
You see they hold three sermons a day,
Therefor they could meet the needs of every sway,
And I agreed I was confused all along,
This isn't a condo its a time-share,
The first sermon has fair weather fare,
The second is your everyday church,
And the third squeezes you until it hurts,
Oh what a come on, what a snare.
Now, I find that most churches are not this bad,
But keep your eyes open for those that have gone mad,
And pray for those who can not find the spirit within,
Who can so easily fall prey to those with like missions,
For time-share and condo churches are truly sad.

I go to sleep and wake up in the same day
But I'm loving my life
I wouldn't change a thing
Chasing a toddler and chasing dreams
College full time
Finding myself in between
Bad days - no sleep
Doesn't define where we want to be
It happens, sometimes life sucks
You have to smile anyways
And buck up, because when
You get lost in the traffic of your mind
It's hard to slow down, all you can do is try
Because if you crash
You can't rewind time and take it all back
So live for right now
Stop
And see
Do what you feel is right
And be free
You'll get judged either way
So go with your heart and
Let it blaze your own path, and ideas
It doesn't have to fit into the way society feels
Dance, and sing
Feel the weight of the world
Melt off your shoulders
And when you can
Give love to one another
Getting caught up in yourself
Closes the door to what life is all about
Seeing others pain and lending a hand
So shake it off
It'll pay off in the end
The love we give heals our own wounds
And the vibes we send could light up a room
When we try to see
The better side
It's not all about me, it's not all about me.
Yeah, you get hurt
You get burned
But becoming bitter
Isn't the way to turn
Keep your eyes open
Your mind free
One step at a time and
We'd all feel complete
It may seem like a simple plan
But some day our sons and daughters will understand
When they grow up and realize
The whole world will pass you by
If you only live for yourself, caught up in your own mind
You have to escape and make time
Not just for yourself
But for the people in your life
Family or strangers
We're one in the same
Treat everyone like they mean everything
It'll all do us good
I know it's hard to balance baby
But you've got to stay strong
It's not all about me, no it's not all about me.
Be positive and
Set yourself free
There's more to life
Than our daily routine
I'm only one woman
With a simple dream
For us all to give love
And feel relieved
It could all come true
Just take the time to try to see through others eyes
You may be the one standing on
The better side
So lend a hand
Take a stand
Turn your back
To the bitterness
Let us all heal ourselves through love.
Beyond Tomorrow's land we wore ancient robes.
Carrying crows until blisters burst from concrete clouds.
I remembered your name in the mold of a scattered song.
Lifted was my body through a castrating light.
Golds, greens, and my uncle's lost salamander.
The pain that pushes and tosses takes all forms.
Just like the joys and the more rugged dials riveting inside you.
Trampling afoot father's garden you forsake your own belly-aching.
Buy-the-ticket-take-the-ride, drink-the-gravy-and-get-over-the-hill.
Everyday flashes with the flapping of a film reel.
Take heed of your vices and waste not your days.
They'll always be a another garden, a new song, some dog named Jojo.
Keep your eyes open and your mind more so as we drift ever further.
I see around me from my eyes
The beauty in all things are in disquise
Take a moment and just see
Wonderous things for you and for me
Watch children at play see how they smile
Hear them laugh all the while
Watch the sun come up or the rain fall down
See the light up above or Hear the thunderous sounds
See a small little bud turn into a rose
Watch it blossom and bloom right under your nose
Keep your eyes open and soon You shall see
Small as it may sometimes seem
There is beauty in everything
