Insipid Nights (modern Tanka)
They sleep together
On a four foot bed
Back to back they lie
Facing the wall
Miles apart....
----------------------
On her front porch, the elderly lady stood
Sending forth a farewell starts with a wave
Wait for the tires to be silent in the woods
The sound faded on the stones of the stave.
She waits for the family car to fade from sight
Clouds of dust gradually drifted below
due to the air's propensity to wash right
Her son, wife, and child care for a cozy forego.
It breathed fresh life into this calm place
afar from the hectic pace of this crazy world
She had faith that there would be more chances
Other dainty events, but not akin to the one named.
What we retain is most crucial than what we read
It's not our intent but the actions that lend us deeds
We don't achieve our goals by wishing for them
But it is a lifelong fight to render us a valiant gem.
She expected tears, but she had a sole wish
She may cook the last bit and serve them a dish
Hear the tires screech and watch the dust settle
Over the span of her life, view her blooming petals.

Opposed within the same genus
A recognition of man's existence
I try to inverse the Truth
Thus the latter becomes defined as oblivion
And shallow existence
Those things that cannot be reversed
A peculiar mark of substance
Perceived with utter perception
The truth that colludes
Thought provoking propositions
And implications of rugged indecencies
That have been enumerated
Among the Insipid faces
It's not easy to state
What it is that which you don't understand
And don't want to understand...
We are surreptitiously taught
Insidious ways
By a system that is twisted, flawed and that's lost its way
We are taught to respect it without thought or question
So many do exactly that without factual digestion
This system teaches more about war than peace
More about the winners throughout history
It does not teach you about love or spirituality
It teaches you religion in its dogmatic obscenity
Teaching us that if you sin you go straight to hell
Teaching us the guilt that goes with as well
And how we should follow a set of rules
That control our lives
This is what the system does time after time
Through media and government it says it preaches good values
Setting itself up more righteous than me and you
Yet it allows and promotes war, violence death and fear
And you don't need to look hard to see the greed and corruptions clear
The system that is so advanced sees people living rough on the streets
Allows so many abuses like people trafficking
It does nothing to address sexual abuses in the church
That's because what happens in government is worse
And it's all covered up by those ruling over us
And these are the people we are supposed look up to and respect.
That's why an awakened and conscious mind
Sees the truth after years of being blind to the systems lies
It breaks away and finds the purity in heart and soul
Finds themselves a place where they cannot be controlled
They reconnect with with love
And promote kindness, compassion and peace
And offer a hand to those down on their knees
An awakened mind understand all truth
Understand that being spiritual means being an authentic you
And living a life of goodness not defined by rules
Because it has to come from within that's unique to you
We were given free will to choose how we should live
Defining our own morals and our own ethics
Not adopting those of others
That may not apply to us
In ourselves our consciousness we must trust
For we're connected to the source
Through a direct line
And this is where we will find answers
Residing in the light of true reality
Not manifesting in the systems illusory.
Bitter gall upsize
For folly you prize
Native of worry
In your sad story
Plunder with lame vice
In sorry surprise
Lean on naked woes
That cast painful shores
Touch of vile bad luck
Denial feels awestruck
You can do much more
If only you store
Come to terms here friend
Do make impact trend
Rise again and fight
Dare to do what's right
Earn then your free lunch
Work the number crunch
Each man must dare pay
For fare and for play
He who digs a pit
Must bear life's harsh hits
Dare to attend gall
With a wake-up call
Pain is a sure sign
To forge wise align
When darkness floods round
Find shelter most sound
He falters can rise
Heed truth to be wise
To deny the truth
Ply ignorant proof

Vacant Perdition
Reeling listless
Empty story
Gazing, endless
Mandatory
Purgatory
Muted motion
Thinking sorely
Null devotion
Sudden urges
Fleeting feelings
Will emerges
Sailing ceilings
Disused dealings
Mislaid purpose
Broken meanings
Without service
It’s insipid
Bouncing bluster
Wisdom wicked
Nothing mustered
Lacking luster

Silence vernal
Insipid lifestyle –
The side effects are horrid
Silence speaks! Shut it!
What you say is dull –
Apologies accepted
With one condition…
If you’d just listen –
Life in my shoes is so tough
Oh please, understand
Shut it, solitude…
Let my voice be heard right now
It’s been a while…
Since you’d fin’lly see
That my side of the story
Is important, right?
Morbid thoughts these days…
Have been running wild in my –
In my eager mind
Your vile tone of voice
Makes me turn the other cheek
Come on now – rejoice!
Insipid be the bounty, lain before the masses.
Languishing are those the ravenous harasses.
Mortals just morsels to a hunger never sated.
Fear laden blood keeps who feeds intoxicated.
The crazed stare unphased, their beckoning insidious.
They whom lay slayed, just meat for the carnivorous.
Of men or of babe be plated and devoured.
To this they're enslaved by ritual empowered.
Disposed as they go the corpses they eviscerate.
Now over, the glow danced by as they incinerate.
of what use is poetry if insipid
it borders on wicked
words can lift the heart
restore the soul ~ or
drain the hope-supply
in a world gone bone-dry
