Monet's Impression, Sunrise

First impressions leave memories
that can linger for a very long time
and give a sense of peace and understanding
that rewards the solitude of the mind
with satisfaction in contemplative reflection.
This may be deceiving and can mislead one to believe
that which is right may, in fact, be wrong.
Graciously accept the artist’s shared perception
that there is no ambiguity, only a warning
of the impending storm threatening prevalent reasoning.

The ascending sun, with its reflection on the water,
highlights a sense of direction as the rowers row
across the harbour at the break of morn.
Past cranes and derricks and ships at anchor
beneath a smoke-blurred fiery sky, accented
by pastel shades of blue to create the sombre mood
that expresses Monet’s "Impression, Sunrise" painting
and shares with the onlookers his representation
of nature from an Impressionist’s point of view
in the Industrial Age, heralding in the revolution.

That begs the question, “Where are they going,
and why blood orange?” (Oh, but I’ve seen that colour before.)
Day-to-day inquiries are asked of one another and strangers.
Monet incorporates an art form using oils on canvas,
forcing the audience to observe with curiosity,
thus presenting a sliver of time of life’s tranquillity at sea.
This provocation of thought chinks the consciousness
of seasoned connoisseurs who see change as frightening
and challenges their manipulation of artistic output
(to act like mechanical agents thwarting creativity).

“Will they reach their destination? Will it be as they hoped for?”
Hurry! Though calm, the waters will soon froth in labour.
                                     ***

Note:
“Monet’s Impression, Sunrise” is an ekphrastic poem referencing the painting “Impression, Sunrise” (1872) by Claude Monet (1840–1926).

The Game of Life

CHESS GAME
Chess, friend imitates life
and every movement has its time
and to everything the soul gives lair
and all body incorporates ...

           QUEEN
Always unusual,
vain...
Eccentric
and singular
her force causes
noise ... men
fight and die
for her with
immense pride.
            BISHOP
Ingenious creature,
infinitely sagacious,
walks on winding routes
leading to the enemy not peace,
but cruel death not glorious ...
Fearing no harm
your choice, it makes ...

              PAWN
They are fools, poor pawns,
are useless to themselves,
but dramatically useful
to their bosses ...
They fight without knowing
to which they are doomed,
do not die for wanting so,
but because they are doomed ...

               HORSE
He knows how to fight, in a peculiar way ...
seems to walk without paths,
so do not walk straight ...
Jumps masterfully over
enemies, and with dexterity
and wisdom runs away
of all danger

                 Towers
Watch the ends,
all...
Never lose
the bid of
watch...
So with
security can,
the kingdom ensure ...
But if the tower
if neglected,
surveillance
will be lost
it will not matter

           KING
The king knows how to be
arrogant,
but knows
to be
audacious...
Do you know that the
enemy is evil
dangerous...
The good king
makes war,
but try to preserve
their soldiers ...
Being cautious,
knows that losing
the focus will have final
disastrous...

If it is to play, hold the reins,
double the fear, ride the board,
as if you had ridden himself ...
And remember ... chess is
the game of life ...!

Premium Member I Seek Her Every Night

Chanting from the spirit world enters my soul as I sleep, enslaving me fully into her familiar beat, I dance with abandon, tossing my hair, flipping my feet, in childlike wildness.
Boundless in its pursuit of me, my inner voice incorporates itself into my dream, terribly ethereal in true spiritual form, bringing my real self into the higher realms, ones not fully reached until death.
My joyful soul is soaring now, spinning, and whirling, transforming me into a dervish, insanely happy to have found my tribe, loving my inner sweet pureness which is gentled out of me nightly.
I seek her every night, my sleeping day soul, in my dream state, and she keeps me in her warm, loving grasp, replenishing me in bits and pieces, in smallish intervals, showing me my true delight.
I embrace my dream state with the innocence of a unicorn, and rainbow hope, knowing her truth.

In the shadow-lands, where marvels bear shape.
Love and kindness, as a story eager to scrape
A set of souls speaks by the syntax of the heart.
As it evolves, it is generous, tender, and smart.

Whispers of humanity—a gentle breeze does blow.
Carried by the wind, as birds in flight, they flow.
An art of eternal bliss, seeking grace abundantly,
A seeker of insightful wisdom, yearning to be free.

Hearing the call of oceans—a spark of our existence
The moon may wane, but love remains its essence.
In the depths of our souls, a crystalline, euphoric hue
Nature's healing power—embraces me and you.

Whispers of humanity, a symphony so grand,
A melody of love stretching across the land.
In the depths of our being, a link pure and deep,
A bond that transcends, a secret we all seep.

Through mumbling, we uncover tranquility.
A beating syntax that frees, no rest, no stability?
Every breath incorporates timeless elegance.
A sense of divine love that lasts for a trance

Seeker of knowledge, seeker of truth,
In the whispers of humanity, we find our youth.
Wisdom is the compass that guides us on our way.
To understand the power of love every day.

In whispers of humans, we hear the songs of birds.
Their melodies of joy, their heartfelt words
They teach us to embrace the beauty of each day.
To find solace in nature and let our worries sway.

Oceans call to us with their vastness and might.
Reminding us of our place in the grand design.
Waves crash upon the shore, a symphony of sound.
A reminder of the power that in our hearts is found.

In whispers of humanity, we find our purpose true.
To spread love and kindness in everything we do.
To be a source of healing, a beacon of light,
To uplift and inspire, to shape the world bright.

The Great Wall of China

The Great Wall of China, was built brick by brick
Forced by the Emperor, to stop his country getting hit
After many states, warring for this land
The Emperor decided to take things in hand

Those dragon designers, the best in all the north
Scholars, mathematicians, and the farmers they bought
Observed the constellations and put these in the wall
Protecting China’s border, for one and all

Built by many different Emperors, over a long period of time
Repairing eroded walls and bringing new design
Rebuilt again and again, throughout history
By different tyrant Emperors, during their dynasties

The work began in China in two hundred and twenty one
Mimicking its border and the battles Emperors won
Fourteen thousand miles, weaving in and out
Armoured guards stationed at different points throughout

Winding, up ‘n’ down the mountains and the valleys low
Passing through the cities, what a wonderful wall on show
Preserving Chinese culture from invaders of its states
With twelve thousand watch towers, which it incorporates

He will give you love peace and hope
When with life you can't longer cope
He will help you to be so strong
when everything for you go wrong

When you fight and struggle in vain
He will give you love peace and hope
And He will take away your pain
When you are at the end of rope

His love in your heart will just flow
when your spirit is sad and low
He will give you love peace and hope
Every time you reach an steep slope

When troubles pile wide and so high
Ask the Lord for help every day
Before God just kneel and then pray
He will give you love peace and hope.

So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.
1 Corinthians 13:13 (NIV)

-“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
John 3:16 (NIV)

- Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer
Romans 12: 12 ( NIV )

-The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be silent.”
 Exodus 14: 13 ( NIV )

'she Is Poetry'

Her body smells of heady perfume with imprints of metaphors on her bruised skin
Adores herself in the vagued mirror
A smile so pleasing yet so harmful
Beads of similes gather to decorate her with a hook to conceal the brutality of her body,
The handcuffs of diamond personifies to the human trait of possessiveness
Accompanied by the golden ring of epithet entangled within her raw hands
Her pierced ears hearken to the ballads of antediluvian times;lips reciting verses of contemporary world
Her fragility lays in the mascara she puts, smudges the kajal with brushes of alliterations
The messy bun incorporates secrets of love and musings of hate alongside a lily holding onto the desires for warmth
Her brittle nails dip into the paint of interjections finishing with a slight coating of delicate red mousse
The cottton dress of yellow now feels accomplished with a hint of storm caressing underneath.

Embrace love, life no matter what
Start with a heartful of love and hopes
Never let yesterday rob your dreams
Look at this day with brand-new eyes

Cause the best for you might still come
Embrace love, life no matter what
Listen to the beat of your heart
Nothings over till God says so

Embrace day with all ups and downs
Climbing to top of mountains hard
Embrace love, life no matter what
There's light at end of dark tunnel

Nothing stays the same in this life
But there's always God, love, dreams, hope
Pray be strong when things don't look good
Embrace love, life no matter what.

Angry Black

Yes, am an angry black whose heart is frozen with anger
No dazzling star under the blue blanket of sky
Doesn't have a meaning, purpose and direction
Endless questions that never sum up to the answer
I need to know about racism
Being born in Africa is the most beautiful thing
To have ever happened in my lifetime
When the scientists say you got treatment for transformation
Who the he'll said I wanna white?
Cant imagine giving birth to little blacks
Who will wonder where the hell did we come from
Am a beautiful charming black girl
Some blacks are taken to middle east
And get overworked like slaves in colonial times
And get deported back paralyzed
When will this ignorance of taking advantage stop?

My mind incorporates well with movement calculation
When it comes to create a formula
Think the way you think and reason same as you do
My skin colour shouldn't be the reason
I don't need to tan nor to roast myself
In the sun so as to get some skin colour
Black is gold, black is beauty, black is my secret
Am a unique African who legendary has a mesmerizing character
won't allow monoric way of prioritizing issues
When it comes to Africa my motherland
Blacks ain't thugs, ghettos or civic leaders of welfare stereotypes
All blacks should rise up and destroy this
Sordid stem of segregation, mistreatment and historic colony.

Thru this "Book" we get to know God
It tells the beginning of man
How He created all from start
He made the moon, stars, day and night

It tells of God's great love for man
Thru this "Book" we get to know God
Its authors were inspired by God
Some deny, others accept it

And keep it so close to their hearts
Many walk in darkness, are blind
Thru this "Book" we get to know God
It's the "Good Book" to live life through

It tells of God's great sacrifice
Meet Jesus, His Son, our Savior
It tells of man's Future, also...
Thru this "Book" we get to know God.

JAFFNA ODIYAL KOOL
==================

Beautiful ”Kool”
Call it Jaffna Soup, broth or stew.
Signature dish of Jaffna district,
Relished by every one in the peninsula.

Tamarind based Kool,
With seafood items,
Fish, shrimp, squid and crab,
Add taste beyond words.

Incorporates various spices,
With long bean, jack fruit seeds, manioca
O what a taste it gives,
When odiyal flour thickens it.

Mouth waters at the sight of
The fantastic odiyal kool,
Tastes better when you drink,
From a folded jack leaf.

Kool is an enjoyment at family gatherings,
In most of the Jaffna homes.
Without the traditional kool party,
Family gatherings seldom disperse.

Rhyme Is To a Poem

Rhyme is to a poem as melody is to a song.
It's the sweet music to which written words belong.

Rhymes with meter makes the poem musical,
A kind of of word connection that is quite magical.

Read aloud it gives readers predictable pleasure,
And poems with rhyme are remembered for sure.

Without rhyme poems sound like mere declarations,
Or just monologues said in dream situations.

Like a stage where actors perform in silent mime,
Such is the existence of a poem without rhyme.

Cynthia Buhain-Baello ~~~09.13.17

--------------------------
Rhyme

"Rhyme is the matching up of sounds and syllables, usually at the end of lines. External rhyme is the rhyming of words at the end of lines. Shel Silverstein's poetry is a great example of this. And "The Raven," by Edgar Allan Poe, incorporates internal rhyme in "Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered weak and weary." This means that two words rhyme within the same line, in this case dreary and weary.

Why is Rhyme Important?

Rhyme functions in much the same way as rhythm. It keeps the poem in harmony, and a rhyme scheme helps the audience to understand what is coming. Discerning the rhyme scheme is important because the pattern brings the poem to life and helps the audience feel connected."

Darkfall Posts a New Preview of the Battle-Brand Role

Fire School is in session! Aventurine has released a new video that shows off the skills of one aspect of Darkfall Unholy Wars' Elementalist role, and casters and and pyros-at-heart will enjoy a look into the Fire Mage. Feel like swimming through a bubbling lake of lava? Cast a self-buff and dive right in! Like to lob flaming balls at others and watch them catch fire? Then Fire Mage is the class for you!

Like its name implies, this particular mage uses an arsenal of fiery tricks to best opponents. The class focuses on medium- to long-range combat and incorporates knockbacks and area effects into many of the spells. For a demonstration of Dragonbreath, Magma Bomb, Heat Stroke, and other skills, check out the sizzling video after the break.

You should know your role in Darkfall Unholy Wars. After all, your role determines a lot of what you're capable of doing at any given time, so it's pretty important. The newest development blog on the game gives a preview of one of the updated re-release's new roles for the Warrior, the defensive school known as the Battle-Brand. This is not a role for going out and making people miserable; this is a role for ruining the days of those trying to make you miserable.

The Battle-Brand's abilities include two self-buffs to reduce magical damage taken and reflect a portion of damage taken back to the source. It also features Foebringer, an AoE pull for all nearby enemies, and Bandage, a self-healing spell to keep the Warrior up longer. Last but not least is the ultimate ability, Stoic Defense, which makes the Warrior entirely immune to damage for a short time while consuming mana and stamina. Take a look at the role's abilities in action in a preview video just past the cut.
