Dreams On The High Seas

I dare reach my dreams on the high seas
Calm sea sweet is the night air
High tide with the heightening of the full moon
Wearing its payne’s gray watercolor skies
Laced with glimmering constellation stars
On this vast universe that lie before me like a land of dreams
~
I dare reach my dreams on the high seas
With sails that ensnares sea sweet night air
As I stand on the bow with cold shivers running up my spine staring at the horizon
Waves crashing against the slowly drifting ship
I hear the sounds and catch a glimpse of a spout of water
From a knobby head of the humpback whale
Breaching the surface to breathe and sing its songs
~
I dare reach my dreams on the high seas
To command my own ship, the Black Pearl and ride the Seven Seas
From sun rising at dawn until the twilight of the seductive night
As the sea beckons me on to a life journey
With cannons blasts splintering ships apart and my cutlass swinging
While I hunt for my fortune of sparkling gold and rainbow diamonds in the sand
~
I dare reach my dreams on the high seas

God's Majestic and Wide

God's Majestic and Wide

Breathe in an ocean so vast and so grand where seagulls and seashells sprinkle the sand.
So turquoise blue, majestic and wide, homes for God's creatures at high and low tide.
Like the Humpback Whale who sings a beautiful hymn or a baby sea turtle just learning to swim.
Like a stingray, a lobster, a shiny red cod, or friendly grey dolphins who live in a pod.

The Angel Fish, the Violet Snail, a Giant Squid, seaweed, and kale all need the oceans to breathe and survive, all need the oceans to stay alive.

Thank God for the oceans so vast and so grand, where seagulls and seashells sprinkle the sand.
So turquoise blue, majestic and wide, homes for God's creatures at high and low tide.

Whale Song

The Curach (currach) is a traditional Irish boat made from animal skins / hides (now canvass). The hides vibrate when a whale sings.

                                       Whale Song

How gentle the waves lapped the boat almost bobbing me to sleep,
My liquid turquoise mattress with its secrets buried cold and deep.
A curious dolphin glided past, its snout smiled in its personal joke,
As it observed my ungainly presence, (this awkward land folk).
My man made curach of pitch, wood and canvass stretched taut.
As she masters the sea with courage to return the fish she caught.

Now as I lolled towards twilight a strange sensation vibrated the boat,
It hummed an angels tune that rippled the canvass, with a glorious note.
And there in the distance, a great humpback whale trumpeted the clear air
As I sat in heaven blessed company with nature, in the middle of nowhere.
The whale approached my flimsy craft with a natural grace that was serene
One of the most beautiful creatures that shares this wonderful marine.

And so the whale passed by with the gentlest disruption of space,
And I think it was amused when he saw the look on my face.
I sat there drained yet elated at this wonder I had shared
No camera or witness to observe the scene or to have cared
But I was there and my soul was touched like a child once again
To witness such beauty often befouled by the actions of men.

Now as I lolled towards twilight a strange sensation vibrated the boat,
It hummed an angels tune that rippled the canvass, with a glorious note.

(All right you scallywags of questionable seaworthiness, we begin with an up-tempo step-liveliness.)

Send him aloft, high into the crow's nest,
He'll keep watch with his keen young sight.
Let me out, the wind is a-freshenin',
Roll me up in the middle of the night.

Over to the hatch and have a check within the hold, lad,
So we know that down below, the ship is nice and tight.
Roll into the galley, and fetch the cook potatoes,
But throw 'em in the water if they've got the bleedin' blight.

Roll me out into the wet heart o' the glossy sea,
Hand me down a whoppin' tankard o' rum,
Tomorrow, on the hunt we'll be,
The Captain knows where that foreign vessel's from.

Roll me into our sheltered island hideaway,
We can sleep a while before dawn's early fight.
Give us one drink but we're gonna cut it off right there,
Gotta wake up in the mornin,' gotta wake up feelin' right.

Roll me out, now we're after a prize, boys,
Watch out for the shallows in the middle of the bight,
Roll me away, don't let them hit us broadside,
They'll soon surrender to our mighty pirate fright.

(Okay, me hearties, slow it down a shark's whisker...)

Now we're all as happy as the humpback whale,
We'll treat the prisoners fairly, or it's impolite,
The sun slips below the rail, the briny dark will then prevail,
The crew's asleep, full fathoms deep, of moonlight take a bite.

Roll me easy, there's peace upon the ocean,
The softest wind, and stars a-burnin' bright,
Drift through the water with that slow rockin' motion,
When we make it back to shore, our tales they will write.

(Avast ye now, slow it on down until yer barely makin' a wake...)

Roll me quiet when I think about my lost girl,
Nothin's bigger then than me a-wonderin' why,
Roll me back because I can't forget the dead boy,
And turn your head away, before I start to cry.

OFFICE POLITICS OF A HUMPBACK WHALE

I can think of so many words to call that *****!
But I’m better than that, so I’ll just stick with *****!

All the money in the world won’t make her nice,
It won’t give her friends as they come with a price.
She has no manners and she really is quite dumb,
In fact she’s incompetent, from 1 to 10 she’s a zero sum!

She thinks she’s superior…. why? Because she’s rich?
Let’s take away the money and what’s left is a dumb *****.
She will still have no manners, and certainly no friends.
Because she can’t afford to buy them, she’s alone in the end.

So as 2017 closes and I’m summing up my life
I will give no more energy to that *****, the bosses wife!
I’m fully rested and recharged, and beating my own drum.
And a promise to 2018, WATCH OUT! HERE I COME!

God's Plan For Diver Dan

Being environmentalist scuba diver's
we ferried our boat out east of the Farallon Islands,
in the waters by the Golden Gate Bridge we ended up scuba diving,
awestruck by the great humpback whale entangled in the quagmire,

Noticing she was bogged down by 100s of lbs of crab traps,
entangled with line rope round her whole body way up to her mouth,
getting our curved knives out we didn't want to waste any time,
steadily and carefully carving through the quagmire of trap lines,

The whole time the whale watched me as I cut through the lines,
this one being very close to her inquisitive whale eyes,
finally freed after cutting for hours she swam around most joyously,
nudging me gently as if to warmly and personally thank me,

In my mind's eye this will alway's be a very special day,
watching that magnificent animal swim off finally free to swim and play,
this great mammal acting so patient and intelligently,
freeing God's great sea creatures was surely my destiny.

A back flipping coconut is very very amusing at a ball but ball pits are moving around so one must surely wear wellingtons or a pair of anglers' waders when jumping across such multicoloured curves. Harp no more sang to a lute at a castle. For harp was too busy restringing and replacing for often strands should be sitting in a neat formation so never whirl around whilst sewing, knitting or braiding a horse's tail. Especially not in a typhoon for a typhoon is often a tycoon and tycoons are really toucans in very smart hats. Now audiences singing to nova scotia are often in great voice. But voicemail from a silky seagull is neither rushed, accented or delivered at the correct time. Drink no cup of mildewed coffee omitting from the horns of a bull. Horns of bull should only be shown on humpback whale variety shows. But not in showers of rain. Trains taking turns tinkling tantrums. And a wide variety of beaks, snouts, and hooves meet with many paws but not in a zoo or a circus for these places are now closed due to a booooom from a book. State no stench and stick no stink. It is the mass availability of a wire that moves the grid into a pineapple formation. Wow. Legs arms and torsos make fairytales in a large luxury room but the rhombic pentameter is waiting in the wings in the theatre to perform a dance. 656 eagles plus 800, 000, 000, bison arriving with a horse, a rhinoceros and a little pickled gherkin in a suit. Fascia fashions fantastic fake frogs. But a pill on a hill is not a pillow nor a pillowcase nor is it a ten thousand kilometre pillar. Rather great to watch the auras of apples spinning over the grass being chased by the caterpillars and huge crowd of pigs. Erogenous earwigs eating everything. Haha pile the plates and dance. Haha silicon tango opera. Hahaha left wing tight wing flap flap flap. Cluck. And a click in a clock is a clock tower chatting. Xxxxx institutionalism Z Z Z Z

Sea Theme Limerick

I sat in a boat on the sea
Feeling blissfully happy and free
My eyelids were drooping
And shoulders were stooping
The last thing I saw was the quay.

Imagine when, to my surprise
There appeared right in front of my eyes
A blue humpback whale
Who was hot on my trail -
OK, granted - I hyperbolize!

Premium Member Anchors On Strings Hanging From Sails

Sailboat afloat on a journey of light
Seagulls take wing, navigators in flight
The sun is a timepiece, seconds in the sand
The clock tells no time, it's missing a hand

The wind is a dancer, to the rhythm it sways
As the waves become angry, looking for prey
The journey of light is now at an impasse
In a darkness so fragile it shatters like glass

"Anchors on strings, hanging from sails"
Lifeboat capsized by a humpback whale
On the waves of a nightmare in a sea of surreal
Dorsal fins circle, jaws needs a meal!

Flutterfluffing of downy goose
rocks tempest princess port-starboard.
Bed tiers for bride-to-be. Steep steps
of ladder, up t’ward skylight, soared.

Twenty tidal wave mattresses.
Jacky’s seed sprouts into beanstalk.
Ripples of corpulent stitching -
siren depths that bruise like bedrock.

Schlepping sleep on stone-wet pillows.
Won’t Gorgo* make a gorgeous bride?
Honeybuzz of beehive tangles.
The slip and slide of nightmare ride.

The feasible mother-in-law
conjured guest into blue-sea room.
Testing of oars and humpback whale.
Full moon is gold and so is groom.

Oh how this royal navigates.
She’s the sunrise, light as feather.
The salty air will pinch her cheeks.
She’s survived balmier weather.

Part Two: Escape From Pandemic

I wave vaguely toward a boat in the distance, but
can't think of what I would say if they invited me on board.
"That seems excessive kindness," I say, but a voice laughs in my head,
"Yeah, but they'll never do that!" In its vacuum stare, a seagull
encourages me to think past my confusing options. I laugh pretty hard and
move on to the empty boardwalk overlooking the choppy waters, picking someone's trash as part of my civic duty, thinking "life's better in this barren habitat" and then am glued to a kite spinning wildly in the sky attached to a windsurfer riding the waves, suddenly disappearing and then resurfacing, has trouble unhooking the kite, saying to myself, "that's a good kite he should keep it" and then watch it fly like a free bird before crashing into the ocean. I walk past the sign that reads, "Sally was here today" wondering if she was blonde or brunette. I whisper in my head, "this place must do well in the Summer." Today it's silent, like our interior souls crushed by the disease. "We'll come ahead on this one. What made you look for water snake in this environment?" My father would have encouraged me that I was right, he was always delusional, always carried a small umbrella even in hot Summer days as a precaution. "You need to learn to manage your affairs better," his voice rings in my head. He loved his car and wanted to drive it to his own funeral. I see an old grill gummed up with ashes, wondering how many beachgoers it had pleased and all the stories it had to tell. "There was once a married couple who ate their burgers raw." The boardwalk turns into rocky sand, waiting to torture my bare feet, a seagull is looking purposefully at my predicament, perhaps chuckling,
"these helpless creatures."
Lend me the swiftness of your wings, so I can ride above
the foamy waves and sit on a humpback whale that lies still in
recumbent grace, sniffing you out. I am your maid and it does not take long
to try its patience. I hope you spare me your wet witching. You would have saved a squad of dolphins from their daily doldrum if you were game and
moved in their playful company.
Inaccessible solitude, I venture to conclude at random.

A Whale of a Thank You

As I leap and splash abound
The crash of water with all its sound
It was you and who you found
Dying with a large net all wrapped around

You with your family came to my aid
Just as you would have also prayed
So gentle in the water you wade
As my life had begun to fade

But you just jumped right in
Us both knowing this was a sin
You freed my tail and my fin
I could see it in your grin

So before I swim away
I just had to say
Here's 40 leaps and all their spray
For you saved my life hip hip hurray

Gassy globular leap
splendor in chromatic tone
golden brown hues race,
leaping waters of delight.
Beneath prolific waves
A humpback whale
birthing.

A newborn rocked
in mother earth as womb,
discoveries come as sands shift;
The timeless sea has secrets,
she shares with only her offspring.

Premium Member the secret penguin

the sky was cold and grey
when
yesterday
you told me where the Secret Penguin lay
in bygone years
they say he was a sight
the avian conundrum
in black and white

operating in ice-cold
frozen stealth
he redistributed the ocean's wealth
some say
he went down in a bullet hail
trying to save a hunted humpback whale

his misty memory
lives down under
he left us with much more than wonder
in the Antarctic wilderness below
his noble three-toed footprint
in the snow.

Akureyri

Take me back to Akureyri, sunshine capital of the north
Through lava fields and bluest waterfalls rushing forth
Summer solstice came and we never saw the dark
A perfect time of year for an adventure to embark
Natural hot springs buried like hidden treasure on the way
Find them off the beaten path when it feels you've gone astray
Sipping water from a stream melting off of glacial snow
Refreshments courtesy of Skaftafell near Arctic Circle, just below
As the sun dipped down at 3am to quickly greet us once again
The feeling of a lit up ghost town emanates a calming zen
To see once more the humpback whale and smell the fresh sea air
One day I'll buy another ticket, and tell them, "Take me there."
