Premium Member Covid 19 the Day After Or There About

I wrote two terrible poems last night.
Will this one be another?
I am looking at the clock.
It is time to leave and get the oil changed.
I read the sign as I pull in.
No Shirt, No Shoes, No Mask, No Service.
I don my mask before entering.

I greet the girl behind the counter.
Do I need an appointment?
I do not know all the rules.
She replies, walk-ins welcomed.

Politely takes my keys.
Just an oil change JC, I nod.
She knows me by name.
Not because of my Poetry.
It is just that I have been here before.

The service starts promptly.
Three now toil on my vehicle.
It used just to be one.
I am the lone customer in the reception area.

Tv still playing the same station.
No more free coffee.
My soul smiles, anyway.
I guess I should have expected it.

I start to listen to Janine Jansen, Vivaldi.
My earbuds are a no-name brand.
I wish I had my Audiophile headset.
But that would be rude.

The technician approaches me.
I was expecting this.
It is not a cabin filter this time.
That would only cost me an extra twenty bucks.

He explains I need my transmission fluid changed.
That is another One Hundred and Eighty bucks.
Shows me the samples he took.
I agree, and he says it will take a little while longer.

As I sit here listening to music.
My keys arrive twenty minutes later.
Drat, I still need a little more hope.
I was looking for one more concerto.

Time to pay as panic sets.
Did I forget my wallet?
No, it is here in my back pocket.
A wave of relief washes over me.

I am slowly returning to normalcy.
On the way home, I am thinking, Metallica.

"To get what you desperately covet, you must go the extra mile!' - quote by poet

Let me tell you a story
             About a tween mama's boy.
                 One fine day, unasked,
                  He suddenly started
               Trimming all the hedges
On the front porch, a first.
             It's a job always delegated
                 To his older brothers.
          Mom looks on with amazement;
                   Pleasantly surprised.
              She gives her youngest son
                   A kiss on the cheek
                     And says to him,
"Thank you, baby. You're doing a great job!"
                  After finishing the task,
Mom wraps her son in a snug embrace.
Then came the moment of truth.
                            "Mom?"
                 "Yes, hon," she replies.
"Could you please buy me an Xbox headset?"

Dark Side of the Moon - Domino Fork Headset

Now speak to me my heart and urge me forth
in marching beat my lungs to breathe the air;
too few the years contracted to a span
'ere time and days decline as sun set fair.

My swaddling now become a thinning shroud
a cloak for the great big gig in the sky;
what money may be clutched by lifeless hands
were it enough in Heaven my soul to buy.

Too late, too often, it was us and them
at odds with comrades ere the war begin;
any colour you like we’re all the same
beneath the crust all flesh is kith and kin.

Too late, my road led to delusions door
and beckoned my brain damaged 'ere the moon
reveal her hidden shade to howling wolf,
or there confess the secrets of the rune.

Our ending then we cannot hope to shape
and gaze not far at what you cannot see;
search not for light astern earth’s satellite
eclipsing her the Sun will valiant be.

Sympathy Letter

To walk a mile in ones shoes,
Takes more then a glance,
Hold close with no excuse,
To give sympathy a chance.

As the journey is more than a window,
It has a house to build on,
Carrying the past as a shadow,
The ticket to the body of brawn.

The inner self knows all,
The outsiders read this to judge,
Don't point to the game with a fast ball,
For the true sympathy within will nudge.

You may not go through their times,
Or set yourself up in disguise,
Not one has the same obstacles to climb,
As some shy away from the hidden suprise.

You could be the one to make a change,
In the life of another or like wise,
You could be the one to arrange,
Or learn something new to revise.

Choices are given to each of us,
Some use widsom to lead,
Pull in the energy with blankness,
Alert in the errors; no need to proofread.

Sympathy gives off as a lifestyle,
Surrounded by a circle of care,
Listen with no words; a smile,
Giving your own struggles to share.

Use sympathy in all met,
For the main asset is understanding,
Walk a mile in anothers headset,
Not giving a blemish for the binding.

Foreign Languages On the Line

As a kid going to Private School
We learned many things being numerous source tools
We would often take field trips to various places
Each had its own individual spaces
One particular event was the United Nations
It was known with communicating with and establishing that with the world
We journeyed in what makes the United Nations in what it is
We had a Tour Guide from India who told us about the UN
Then our tour really started to begin
We entered an auditorium behind a sturdy glass
It was made to muffle the sound of silence much like a mask
We were at a General Assembly with a headset and Interpreter who spoke
As a kid, we learned that the UN was a serious business and no joke
Well things started to heat up with strong intense verbal use
It was becoming more like personal country abuse
Countries upon countries telling each other off
You could say defining with no meaning
The Interpreter literally stopped translating
Because we were 12 years old, Security demanded that we take off the headsets immediately
Later we headed for our school bus and journeyed back to our destination
It’s amazing how things are done all with a little persuasion
The United Nations with its own special blend, and my story that has come to a complete end.

I Must Write

I woke up one morning with a pen by the head rest -
Then write down my dreams while I'm smelling the breakfast -
My brother Jibri is up setting his headset -
My mother yelling down the stairs, "hey have you left yet?" -
I go back to the room and pick up my notepad -
And close that page where I wrote about my broke dad -
It was a poem after that page 4 raps -
Got 60 sheets left in 10 days won't hold smack -
Everyday I write I couldn't in the past -
Back then the master would've put a woopin' on my back -
Cooking up a rap driving while I'm looking through this glass -
When I do my track I have to put them on the map -
And so I live like tomorrow's my dying day -
I know if I succeed mirrors holding my crying face -
I must write and put my life on a line a day -
And if I have no pens I'll write in blood, I'll find a way -

I need to write about Martin Luther King's dreams -
Born prophet turned preacher teaching real things -
I need to write about the Black Panther Party -
And what that black glove meant and how it got started -
I need to write about how valuable hip hop is -
No matter if I die right now it's not stopping -
I need to write about my life and my hard times -
Scarred minds will soon see the light, provail from hard grinding -
I must write about Bush and the government -
And how these soldiers are dying and these weapons aren't discovered -
I need a pen so I can write about my lover -
And how she's my best friend and how much I love her -
I wanna write about women and more -
But I know I won't see it at the end of the road -
I need a deal but I won't write about that -
And when I'm done I'll recite and come back, and write again -

Who Am I

Who am I?
I’m a mother, daughter, wife, and friend,
I’m a workmate, although sometimes have to pretend
To be happy, smile, have fun
At times I just want to hide, maybe run
From people, work, situations,
I don’t know why, there are no explanations
I don’t like confrontations
Is this normal?

Other times life is great, happy and lots of fun,
Plenty laughs, parties, time with my favourite son
Cosy nights in, and a wee bit of loving
Until the teenager walks in and we’re all left blushing!

We all have our daily routines,
Work, dinner, housework, you know the scene
Winter makes us lazy, stay indoors, watch telly
Rubbish weather, eat lots and fill our belly
I can’t wait for spring, light nights, a wee bit sunshine
More family time, outdoors with a glass of wine
This feels normal.

I know who I am. I’m a person who hates the dark,
The winter, it makes me sad, lazy, uninspired
I go to work, but can’t be bothered, too tired
Its not lack of sleep, and I love my job,
But I want to go back to bed, be a slob
I need warmth, cocktails, a swimming pool
Factor 30, a sun hat and food that makes me drool

Well I will have to wait, its not holiday time yet
Woman up, give myself a shake and grab my headset
Put that smile on, be happy and don’t hide
From the awkward customers and workmates, and decide
Where will I book – Turkey or Crete
Somewhere with soft sand for under my feet
That will cheer me up, something to look forward to
I don’t need to pretend, I know I’ll get through
The next few months till I can get a break
Away with the family, memories to make

Suicide

When the thought of dying seems like your only bet
When you think death is all your going to get
When your thinking of jumping from a jet
And you don't even fret

When six feet under
Looks like a good plunder
When all you do is blunder
When everyone steals your thunder

When you think it's your last set
When you can only listen to one cassette
When you have to go into debt
To buy a lousy headset

When suicide is sitting ringside
When your sitting poolside
When the feeling won't subside
When the moment comes you have to decide
Is it life or suicide

Rock

In my way comes a fuss
A thundering of marches,
In my world yearns a departure
A flee from it all.

With a strength of fulfilment
Comes a job for my headset,
Soft in motion a tune
For my beautiful lily world.

A genre of instrumentality
Softly played with an ease,
A match of Saul's fulfilment
In David's soothing lyre.

Now a feeling of conquest
As I safely conquer the world,
My path a field fertile
As with life comes delight.

Is it something about its guitar
Or the way it feels in my head?
Is it thy passionate undertone
As though a bombshell, drops?

For with me comes no competition
For I'm stirred by a Trojan horse,
My mind's profound of peace
In my explicit genre of rock.

Under Control

Welcome to the world of the Net
Schools are closed, pupils in bed
We move on for progress
We obtain a total mess
Everything under control : a mouse and a headset.

Super Eagles Sinks Southies

SUPER EAGLES SINKS SOUTHIES

Eagle Ekong earthened the egregious encounter,
Edging Eagles emphatically into the lead thereafter,
As he slot from the Southies spot.
The target is to score which is paramount.4

The roar from the stance serenaded our headset.
Osimhen oozes class & pass into the net
But the middle man in black blighted the boys' joy
The Southies won a penalty, what a decoy.8

Super Eagles swerved and soared,
Solemly slotting in penalties and scored,
Seizing success in semi-finals showdown,
Solely slitted Southies souls till sundown,¹²

Securing sole spot swiftly, and still
Smartly stayed strong as a steel.
Eagles' epic endeavor ended in ecstasy,
Edging the earnest Bafana's efforts with no fugazy.¹6

Beating Bafana Bafana in a breathtaking battle,
Only one side can survive the obstacle;
The nerve-wracking shootout spectacle.¹?

Afcon newbie, Nwabali nicks nimble net-minders,
As Nigeria negated neatly their distant neighbours.
The salty Southies' sound soared into the sky.
The sound signs & spills a spontaneous sorrowful sigh.²³

SuperEagles sailed from the semi-finals
With steadfast spirit & supreme soccer skillfulness.
So, Super Eagles solemly soared,
South Africa's hopes were soured.
We sang our song, & scintillatingly scored.²8

The Bafana were "bafanered", serated on the spot.
For the love of the beautiful game, we fought,
Super Eagles soured steadfastly into the final,
Our success story summed-up at a single signal.³²

Video Games

Slow steady breaths
Quick flicks of the hand
The grip of a controller in your hand
The feeling of the headset resting upon you
The sounds
The lights
The action
Oh the games you can play
Oh the people you can meet
Oh what a game can be!

Darkness

Hello darkness my old friend, I see you have come for me once again. To drag me away to horrors unseen as the night begins the evening, And though I claw and fight to return to my precious light and call out to those who will grant me power. I am met with silence in this twilight hour yet as time moves forward ever changing I find the shafts of mercy shrinking and your cold grip tightening. destiny in its infinite wisdom has dealt me a cruel hand as time shifts like loose sand in my grasp and the eyes of the shadows lock me in their piercing gaze. still I fight and crawl hoping anyone will answer my pleading calls yet as the darkness encloses all around the headset lays silent without a sound.
