To the God of Poetry

Reclining now, I beg of thee!
But one fervent wish....
That from my pen always flows,
My very heart, my blood and my
very living soul.

Thou art not happy with a shopping list!
Nor, when in frustration, I have
nothing to say?
So I pull any words from the poetry
sphere, just to pen a poem quickly.
To have others think I am such a seer!
There, tragically upon the parchment
no part of Panagiota is.
Just a counterfeit lie, empty words
And my tears.

Stir in me, the artistry of Virgil!
Stop me now from impressing my
poet-fellows,
With the fewest words I can find.
and murder the English language,
My pen thus a dagger be!
My life far too abundant has
been blessed, than...
To lie like a harlot on any poet's desk
to be cheaply read in hastiness.

Just to be part of  the reckless
poet fold....

Best for me, in shame to hide,
Or drown in a forthcoming tide!
Please, oh please, God of Poetry,
Upon my hand, your loving hand
to forever rest.
Remind me whom I serve, 'tis you,
not men.
I am committed to you, and you
alone fully, as doth a lover be.
Not to tickle or cheat another of
the universe nor the total me!

Forever with respect and love
Panagiota

Another Gloomy Sky In November

The sunless evening is deprived
of its ardent and vivid colors,
the mischievous clouds
in their hastiness extend
their thin and tenebrous veil
increasing my body's chill.

They intensify the dreary darkness
invading the lively landscapes under
a silent universe so distant and squalid,
less fascinating and mysteriously far
to be contemplated for its blazing sunsets...
besides the frightful sensations that billow
and imitate every approaching shadow
as they detach themselves completely
from the contemptuous soul liberating
itself with painful groans of dissidence,
refusing to alleviate their heartwrenching
cry; denying their sympathy with insolence.

I'm staring at another gloomy sky in November,
it's menacing and ready to be transformed
into a storm more violent than a tropical hurricane of summer;
a loud thunder is heard followed by a sheet of lightning
that knocks down those vulnerable, aged trees falling
on the yellowed dry grass and on the bare bushes
that was the home of the cyclamen rendering them harmonious,
seldom sad; who remembers how they lulled by the gentlest wind
of this past spring in the well-tended gardens of the smallest town...
did someone smell the fragrant roses only parched by the hottest sun?

The shady, undulating pines are being caressed
by the brisk breeze accelerating the marching evening
gloomier than a moonless night too enmeshed
in a sense of sadness that deepens the emotional feeling...
missing the absence of the blazing light that blinds the eyes
as darkness and fright cast shadows on the fields
of drooping sunflowers ready to declare their demise
more than the gelid air that freezes the steaming breath
and decrease the temperature of the cold body willing to enwreathe
itself with the instinct to warm up by a campfire consuming a balmy pine.

Salted Raindrops

Here I go again
with the midnight rain
late night birds twittering in their nest
I hear the whistle - the night guard blows
rest of the world - I see repose.

Here I go again
with the darkness that prevails
along with the glittering rain drops
caused by the street lights luminances
I feel the ease - the whisper of the breeze
rest of the world - I see in their dreams.

Here I go again
with the aroma of the earth
when the lives beneath egresses to explore their new shelter
I see them fending - the unity they build
rest of the world - I see leisurely.

Here I go again
with the flow of water
that coursed through the pipes to the drain
the wastes in there - blocked the course
I boded the hydra - the flood it borne
rest of the world - I see drouth.

Here I go again
with extreme eagerness
the time of night made me to awaken
I see the hastiness - opposed to the world of boredness
rest of the hours - I felt myself crying with the rain.

Oy Vey Smear

Oy Vey Smear -
More'n' $500.00 For Car Repair!

Hence mine plaintive strut forward
     doleful poetically lamentable
     forlorn shell shock mental state
Hyundai deniably forced
me to absorb, sans
     requisite auto repair tab
     this (Sonata kidding) reality
steered me sigh key -

     wracked (in my pinion)
into abysmal suspension tooting horn aye
didst painfully, palp
     ably, and pathetically,
(albeit mutinous on bounty of life)
     envisioned good bye
regarding woebegone condition
     wallet sadly, how checking account

     suffered near mortal blow -
cents less lee principally reason cry
ying yup possibly heard, asper
the doll la bills blues and die,
perhaps hastiness dashing
     off metrical missive
     blindsided, clouded, and obscured

     wheely tired call for Eli
(schwa sound) to whisk
     this mister where angels fly
essentially taking Matthew
     Scott Harris goodbye
from money shortages, away high
yar into the outer reaches
     of the twilight auto zone

yet...deep down I dear
lee would rather engine ear
a rescue attempt by claiming fear
less flyer self as charity and gear
legitimate funding to help
a worthy cause, but such chutzpah,
     would be here

see within thy coda,
     dogma, and car ma,
     thus eye shed headlights for
"NON FAKE" truth to app pear.

Forgotten Melody

And again for the card game,
His throw kings in the fold,
Empires had forgotten them in the hastiness,
To find the familiar melody - that was lost, but always sounds in my dreams.

And jazz is playing and tired pianist whispers something to His fingers,
And guitarist with a shy smile governs the right tone,
And music shades compose the mellifluous long dream,
Where own orchestra in the world of his dreams has been shipped.

Again I am looking for the melody that plagued in His sleep,
Yeah know not destined to hear that melody in the other sounds in reality,
That the lost harmony, that still sounds in me,
And the sheet music signs the pianist reads in the delirium.

Outlines of distant faces
Pass in blurred hastiness
As frosted window-panes
Hide and reluctantly reveal
What lies beyond.
One face in hesitant expectancy
Stares wistfully on the outer world,
Slowly fading to reappear again
With its every tremulous breath.
I show myself and smile
And the lonely waiting face
Answers in glowing radiance.
Over the separating pane
I pass my trembling hand
Along the outlines of her face
While we look straight in the eyes
Uttering musical soundless words of love…
And when it’s time to go, we kiss
(A lingering touch of lips on glass
On each side of a window-pane)
Then, unwillingly, I withdraw
And walk away into the cold
As a lonely face behind a window-pane
Still stares…then gradually fades
But not to reappear again.

Pariah

While i peel the banana off the peel,
I see the world in motion,
In hastiness, in deceit,
In gaudiness, in retreat.

While i eat the apple seeds
I see you Senor,
Clasp an unknown woman's hand
While your wife waves, so grand

While i drink the colored stream
I see you old man,
Think you tarried too much so as
To be thrown out by your lads?

While i bay the insects' flight
I see you little one
Like cranberries so naive you bloom,
Anticipating world peace soon

While i wipe my face with dirt
I see you lovely lady,
You wait for your husband every night
And dream about your unsaid plight

While i count the stars at night
I see myself,
I cry, i weep, i laugh like mad,
No one sees me, lucky lad!

Wilderness Flower

No wonder why she was envied for her shiny hair
not for her agility, beauty and whim;
her name was Wilderness Flower...
how could her mother have given her such a name?

Unique and beautiful was her superb dancing,
friends made fun of her...humming,
" Wilderness Flower, why do you hide your laugh?
Are you impersonating someone else? "

She ignored those silly remarks,
by gently landing on her feet,
" Can you dance, not leap like foxes? "
she responded with a voice so meek.

" Surely we can and much better than you, of course! "
They challenged with a cowardly threat,
Wilderness Flower replied, " Why do you sweat? "
They stared at her and shouted with voices too coarse,
" Prove to us how talented you are! "
" we are better trained than you by far! "
She defiantly yelled at them performing with laughter on her tongue
and would they let her get away with it, or prove her wrong?

On stage she performed for a bunch of fools
who didn't think she was the very best...
and would Wilderness Flower set them loose? "
" Why spoil it with hastiness? Let them wait and guess! "
Was her murmur that not even a soul could hear,
so why they acted so immaturely and allowed fear?

On the shining floor she intentionally slipped screaming,
" I broke my knee...drive me to the emergency room,
I may not make at all and die on the way over! "
" Don't die on us, Wilderness Flower...we are sorry for our bullying!"
And pledging they cried and swore seeing their guilt loom.
" You fanatics played with my emotions with convincing flair! "
She attacked them with loud scolding words.

" But since you admitted your foolishness, I will forgive you all,
if you let me make fun of your silliness and die a sweet death
by laughing as hard as I can! Wilderness Flower exclaimed.
" Please do, we can accept that, but promise not to return as a mad bull! "
They all crossed their fingers as she went into deep sleep...
did she really give up her soul for some silly dancers who did more than leap?

It's safe to assume that this is my only wish,
Our land will prosper in peace and flourish.
Toss your hopes and dreams into acute end,
If you accept, all will pretend to be your friend!

The origin of my growth and the source of eternity,
To reassure everyone, this is utterly a fraternity.
You're calm, friendly, and care around flowers,
Everyday potency completely rebuilds your power.

A loving father who has no weaknesses in love,
A deep hold reaction, similar to a thrashing shove.
Safety, direction, and projection are solid,
We show it as a sanction rather than a squalid.

Despite the sour days, efficient was kindness,
One to wrap you in when your mind is in hastiness.
I intended such a debate to soften the damage,
It melts when friends awareness warms the adage.

The admonitions kept my pulse steady,
It has no counterpart in all human heady.
Ignoring dread until it arrives at a later time,
I win the heed as a dutiful offspring, sublime.

Spring Signifies Life In Some Inconceivable Aspect

Relished thoughts
remain in cheerful hearts
not ridden by storms;
they protect them always
be it pain, or be it joy:
then, can spring signify life
in some inconceivable aspect
and promises excitement
for all and each one,
not walking the extra mile
and trip on stones that annoy?
Ah, avoiding strides accomplishes none!

Do false lovers deceive
and take what's not theirs?
Do their empty promises
bring delusion or allusion...
when hastiness aggrieves
and they think it's transitive
to meditate on a substitution?

Unpleasant thoughts darken the mind,
they spread a veil of opaque certainty
across the eyes that can't see with clarity...
that one needs to achieve something grand
by discerning that spring signifies life in some inconceivable aspect,
who can assert that all seasons are unchangeable and perfect?

Rush, Rush to scurry to do one's job, meet
deadlines, rush one's child off to school.
Rush, Rush to pay bills dashing to a point of destinations one to the other being late oftentimes may save one from overwhelming
situations of one's hastiness of one's fate. Time is just an illusion and were all just passing through. Relax from the hastiness of Rush, Rushing.

are the permanent

A Boy's Perfect Body

Before I had a boy's perfect body,
the sharpest mind and a spirit full of energy;
even strangers complimented me
on my selflessness, asking God to bless me!

Had I known then that youth wasn't eternal, unlikely the indelible seasons
that renew themselves accordingly, I would have had
a different view of how it should have been lived...
with a more purposeful insight, which allowed no time for regrets!

And that boy's perfect body, carved by loveliness ,
could be seen in photographs belonging to another century;
thick hair and a smooth face defined a neat appearance...
to make plenty of girls stare at me desirously!

O young years, why didn't you warn me of your hastiness?
I could have made the effort to slow you down,
and enjoyed you more without ever wasting time in idleness!
Beautiful and care-free days, how can I posses youth again?

I am still kind of handsome, much older now,
and ladies adore my good looks, once flashing a sweet image
in those attractive and radiant smiles of long time ago,
not worried about any wrinkle revealing their true age!

Before I had a boy's perfect body...
magnificently sculptured like Michelangelo's David;
my adolescence began with my physical beauty,
and ended with that ravishing vanity tossed aside!
