Best Gamer Poems
Have you ever mourned the blah-ness of your life? Yearning for something new to happen?
Daring to hope for something fresh to be excited about? Wishing your days away, worried that it has not happened? Angry for no reason other than you have forgotten that video-game playing is not satisfying and subliminal clips of video games are keeping you away from doing other things that satisfy and fulfill you?
Ping. Sling. Bam. Beep. Beep. Ping. Sixty five thousand and forty-two points!
Have you ever gotten a wake-up call in the middle of the night to say that something has drastically changed? A baby has been born? A great-great-great-great uncle you have never met has died?
Ping. Sling. Bam. Beep. Beep. Ping. Seventy-five thousand and one points! Still number 2 spot.
Hey! Are you in there? Are you with me? Can you hear me? We never talk any more. It is as if I live alone. Your body is here, but you are living in the virtual world now. It is not making you or me happy. Can we please talk?
Ping. Sling. Bam. Beep. Beep. Ping. New game!
Have you ever been aware that you are not in charge? Have you ever stopped blaming yourself for your brother’s suicide? Have you ever thought of helping someone else, so you can get out of this funk you are in?
Ping. Sling. Bam. Beep. Beep. Ping. Twenty-six thousand and fifty-one points!
Do you know I have left you?
Ping. Sling. Bam. Beep. Beep. Ping

Up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right
B, A, select, start this big fight
Let's go, we'll make it through the night
After this, we'll both see the light
I beg of you not to give up
Don't fret, let me be your one up
Fight, fight, fight, we're not gonna stop
Fire away, we'll both reach the top
Go run and hide, fire in the hole
More bonus points, jump on the pole
Soldiers, warriors, we play the role
And now we take back what you stole

In the beginning god created
A blinking icon on a screen of black.
That’s when Adam, with username Eve,
Figured out how to hack.
He hacked into every computer game,
Learnt how to kill, rape, steal, he lied,
Breaking every law the computer god set,
It didn’t matter if he lived or died.
It didn’t matter because each time he died,
He was resurrected back to the start,
With every gun and weapon of choice,
Legs, arms, eyes, nose, ears, mouth and heart.
And generations have followed this guy,
Entranced by his computer game spell.
They all have different gods to worship,
From Apple to Sony to Dell.

When I grow up I shall be queen. I shall rule in the meanest way possible. I shall lure my subjects to the castle in groups of two hundred and thirty-seven. I will make them helpless, completely worthless, relying totally on me for money, food, safety, shelter, and anything else they need to live.
I will give them servants and maids, and I will not let them learn a thing.
They will not be able to ever be independent; I will keep them in front of video games, making them play mindlessly for days and nights. I will let them sleep only after they are totally exhausted.
I will not let them learn to read or write. They will not learn how to bake or cook. They will not be able to save money, or hold money or look at money, or even know about money. They will not know anything more than video games.
I will be insanely mean to them. The meanest queen of the meanest mean. I will not give them any chances to be proud of themselves in any way. They will not know about their abilities or talents. They will be parked in front of matching games day and night. The only thing they have to know is colors, and patterns. They do not even have to know how to read to play this.
They will never feel fulfilled or joyful, or happy. They will never develop a relationship with another human being. Their biggest accomplishment will be the Matching Mush points they can make daily.
I am sorry, but in order to maintain my power, my control, my kingdom, I have to insist that they learn nothing else. If anyone tries to sneak in a book or anything the least bit educational to them, I will have my servants lop that person's head off.
In order to truly be the meanest of the mean I have to take away my subject's ability to be independent. I certainly do not want them to know they can take care of themselves, or feel fulfilled or excited about accomplishing anything but video game points. They might band together and banish the queen, and then where would I be?
Knowledge is the last thing I need in my kingdom.
Sincerely, The Queen of Mean

Prose Poetry
Where will you be
twenty twenty
I've got news for
you aplenty
Leave me alone let
me pilot my drone
let me fire my missles
in a no fly zone
I don't need your permission
to release ammunition
You might as well leave if
you're looking for contrition
Rifle Rifle—wait for it wait for it
Trifle Trifle—everything's legit
Eyeful Eyeful—never can forget
Look out! I strike without warning
Splash! Try again tomorrow morning
Liar Liar
tongues on fire
can't put out the
forest fire
Leave me alone let
me pilot my drone
let me drop my ordnance
in a no fly zone
I don't need your permission
to release ammunition
Get in my crosshairs
You'll be headed to perdition
Rifle Rifle—wait for it wait for it
Trifle Trifle—everything's legit
Eyeful Eyeful—never can forget
Look out! I strike without warning
Splash! Try again tomorrow morning
Leave me alone let
me pilot my drone
let me fire my missles
in a no fly zone
Here's the facts hard cold
if I may be so bold
if you really want to win
you'll have to wait till I get old
One step forwards
two steps backwards
Once released you
can't take back words

Bring a character to life.
I bring a character to life
Like video games hard core and might
Her eyes is white a glowing
Like mutant with all her glory
In dark leather from head to toe
Her armer grow every second she glow
Defeating enemies from every angle
Her powers grow like mother nature with every flow
Call in the elements of air, earth, fire, water.
They all obey for she a earth sign which they know
Resurrect all the ancient warriors and on the go
Her anger grew even from her chant it show.
I bring the character to life. And make it grow
Like a video game that we all know.

What I learned from a Professional Gamer
present tense
finger jittering
what?? in kindergarten
I was painting
butterfly
technique
no wonder I get beat
every time
grandkids, today, skip the basics
and turn professional
in no time at all
I’m pointing, stabbing
attempting to beat
the impossible
not only
must you know what to do
but
you must be nimble
and quick
one day these kids
will meet their match
I let them have fun
before they grow up
slow down
not too fast
hee hee hee
you know whose laughing
not me
…yet

In the end, the right to life and the right to survive is the name of the game.
