Fragile mirrors slice darkened cellars
bead by bead, she whispers a prayer;
thorns of farewell clasp her heart ,raking
as twilight closes fading lamps, bare.

Although a tight knot of vein weakens,
chafed hard... memoirs leave a tender spot
a warmer throb, a much closer touch ;
when cold love flown still...
