“Every man’s goal in life is to give birth to himself.” –Erich Fromm
Hopes turn into dreams
Dreams into ambitious schemes
Steps are taken, paths are chosen
Time marches on unfrozen
To be successful is a goal shared by many
Few are able to succeed
In this game we call life
Nothing’s ever as it seems
The path you thought you could take
Has become a mangled, tangled
Maze of confusion
Steps become measured, cautious, even
The schemes
Fail to accomplish their once hoped dreams

Hello Everyone. My entry below is a dedication to both the late Gungalo and the late Erich Goller. These two poets left earth and the poetry world before their time. Gungalo left us what will be three years next month and Erich left us a year and a half ago in November. His birthday is this coming week. Both people have a place in my heart and life forever. Pam and Erich you are missed by me and others as well.
"gungalo and erich where are you"
gliding through heaven
unveiled are your words
never alone they will be
gracing heaven or earth
alongside the poetry galaxy
love and more you both expressed
on any given day to your last breath
always you were there
night or day and in between
drawing images with images themselves
everlasting are your creations
resting in your portfolios
it tells me you were here
countless memories flash
hoping your shells are at rest
when I think of you both
hovering over words from the past
everything was right
relentless were you both
expressing and pushing me time after time
and although I replied my thoughts
remember this oh mighty ones
everything now is because of you
your work inspired me and the world
on this day I think of you and your legacies
uttering words of thank you

If there is anyone who knew of Gungalo or Erich please let me know. I would love to know your connection and words of these two fine people and poets who not only wrote poetry but created their own formats and style thus always redefining poetry as well. Thank you.
Please know it is also an honor being here on PoetrySoup with all you marvelous talented writers. I feel privileged to be in the same membership and association.
Rest in Peace Pam and Erich

It was believed the last German Great War veteran died aged 107 years on 25th January 2008 in a nursing home in Cologne , Germany. His name was Erich Kaestner. The Bundeswehr had no comment.
Erich Kaesner marched off to war
With his friends probably not knowing the score
And there was mud blood bullets and guns
As each day merged together as one
He lost mates to the war machine
As it ground down with deaths so obscene
And his army rode their ups and downs
Until finally losing the Great War when an Armistice was bound
So he marched home to Germany
Seeing his country ripped apart so terribly
His sacrifice in the war came to nothing in the end
With the surrender becoming more difficult to defend
He saw the fall of the Weimar Republic
And the rise of Hitler and his rhetoric
Hitler refuted the Great War defeat
Blaming the stab in the back at home not a battlefield feat
He endured the Second World War
And defeat was again at his door
So he had to be part of the rebuild for Germany again
With Germany split apart to East and West in the end
There was no recognition when Erich died in 2008
As there were no records left to confirm his fate
And so he passed into history nearly unknown
A defeated warrior whose nation didn’t care leaving him alone.

Dramatic Verse
Positive freedom,
nose in the wind
Negative freedom,
refusing within
Shaking and straining,
the spirits set free
To pour or leave empty,
at times disagree
Positive, Negative,
the labels of truth
Distilled combination
—like gin and vermouth

Monoku
Woodsman on a prowl
Sneaking around like an owl
Noticing innocents getting a fright
Watchman you are a good knight
Defending partiers in a plight
Battling a monster in a murderous fight
Erich you guarded them all
Despite the rainfall
Where thunder clapped
Lightning snapped
Spotlighting your heroic stage
Heralded by the girls maturing in age
Until your deadly scripted page
As we reflect surrounded by campfire mist
Who should be on the angelic list
Mr. Anderson may not have received Brad Clooney fame
But we knew your look maybe not name
Reminded the rat was Ben
While the chopping mall no longer needed Ken
RIP mechanical hiking buddy
Protecting those from evil not really funny
Make it sunny
Heavens will be brighter
Since you are now a soulful fighter
We all down here
Are in it for the scream and cheer
Toasting Rob Dier
With a corkscrew and beer
