I'M Hitting the Big Time

I’ve finally hit the big time I’m going to be on the stage Reading one of my poems I’m sure to be all the rage I enquired about my dressing room Would it have a gold star on the door With champagne and flowers to greet me (I’ve read about diva’s before) You can imagine my disappointment When I was shown to the ladies loo Not enough room to swing a cat And it stinks of wee and pooh! On 20th May I will be performing one of my funny poems at a local charity event to raise awareness and money for Parkinson’s disease – this poem came about after chatting with one of the organisers 05~05~16

Thanks for the lovely comment - since I performed at the local arts centre for the charity event - the organiser has now organised for us to perform at the theatre - a real step up its a proper theatre with about 800 capacity ... and i cant wait!:-) hugs Jan xx

Wow ... what greats news, Jan! I'm happy for you :) I'm not sure how I'd feel about reading one of my poems aloud as I've never done it before ... Hope you have a wonderful time and receive some laughs from the crowd!!

Thanks Timothy - my confidence is growing as I went to an 'open mike'night recently and did 4 'spots' with about 9 poems performed. On 20th I will be reading this one and Just desserts which is a very special poem as its the first one I posted here and the first poem I had published in a book:-) hugs Jan xx

I'm reading my Just Desserts poem CayCay. I also went to an open mike session last Sunday and did 4 spots - they loved my humour too. I will see if they have time in the schedule for this one - but I can always use it another day - am sure now I am in this new group I will thrive as they have creative writing sessions every 2 weeks - shame I will miss a few as I'm working:-( hugs Jan xx

That is awesome Jan and for such a worthy cause! My Grandmother had Parkinson's disease so I am familiar with the struggles one goes through! Good luck at your reading and loved the poem too!

I will Lin have fun:-) I had a chat with one of the organisers on the phone today and I made a joke about 'dressing rooms with a star on the door' - 5 minutes later a poem was born - I have to say the toilets at the venue are immaculate but I needed a little poetic licence lol:-) hugs Jan xx
