Best Double Feature Poems

Smiling recollections,
summer evening reflections, now
almost gone for new generations
while my venues of childhood musings
and adolescent anticipations
...near extinction.
I must concede my willingness to share
what they will never recall
     - the exhilaration
when Dad would pronounce,
"We're going to the drive-in tonight".
A creature double feature,
"The Blob" and "I Was a Teenage Werewolf",
both Feep worthy presentations,
fantasmically speaking.

The impatience for dusk was matched
with the rush of a 10 minute intermission
and, while spotlights played on the
darkened screen, cardboard pizza,
Buttercup popcorn, hockey puck hamburgers,
soggy steamed dogs, and french fries,
were greedily consumed for more
than the price of admission.
Hood ice cream cups with flat wood spoons
for dessert, then back with only
one minute 'til SHOWTIME to the
mosquito safe car where "Pic" coils
repelled the infestation while smoldering
on the glove box door - mesothelioma be damned!

Then, if we didn't escape with an
early exit dash, were caught
in the dust and chaos of the only
late night traffic jam in town.

And...years later, those teenage
trysts, without permission - I'll never tell
            what movie?
But, always remember "Gourmet Confessions"!

All Fall Short

To the serious seeker
To the late night watcher of a double feature
Each of us is responsible to a holy God
We can either receive or reject
I bet your sorry that we met
But no one is perfect except for the Lord
Many of us stumble at his word
Yet it all comes down to what he did on the cross
this was never meant to be a tragic loss
Our flesh hates the things of God
Wants to instead serve sin, self & Satan
It's not a one time shopping event at your local seven eleven
It's all based upon a cross
Jesus Christ died 2, ooo years ago
on the cross for all the world to see
What was his prayer what was his final plea
Father please forgive them for they know not what they do
He said the prayer now the rest is up to you
Just like after 911 we all need to come together
Until you walk in another persons shoes you have no right to sing the blues...
God is faithful to his call such as a boy with a bat and ball
Hitting it across the street at the mall
Sin is actions in which humans rebel against God
Miss their true purpose for their lives
Surrendering instead to the prince of the air more then God cause all their deeds were evil
We all fall short of the glory of God
Take some time out to smell the roses
Everyday is a gift a new start to begin again
Learn to take it one day at a time
You can't find it in the clouds or even a sign
Start to really love each other brother
No one is perfect except for the Lord
Even the best it bound to fall
So you are seeking inspiration just look around you
Heal the hurts & wounds that bind you
Learn from each of your mistakes
Choose to keep your head up & walk by faith
 In time you will shine
Stop worrying and bringing yourself down
Don't ever wear your head down in a frown
We all make mistakes in this great game of life
Crisis maybe an opportunity to change
Live your life the best way you can
Look to the man who died for you with a plan
Faces your fears with sweet angelic tears

Passionate Predators

Restless soccer moms,
whose kittens have all become mature,
got plenty of suburban boredom
Time enough for sure
to get hooked on every advertised lure
As daytime soaps and gossip kitsch
are the mundane, daily double feature
So they buy themselves some
beautiful, youthful promises,
packaged in a slick cardio video
Victoria got some bedroom secrets
that frustrated spouses wanna know
Put the proper promotional letters
in the slotted payment space
Then they sit back and anticipate,
let that warm scented water luxuriate
their uncaged primal thoughts:
That lackluster romantic routine
with the half-interested spouse
has become so very predictable
Mannequin lovemaking so emotional sterile
When expedited delivery late evening come,
they strike their favorite sexy pose,
in their most come-hither revealing clothes
But such meticulously planned foreplay
gets the usual NITM treatment today
This last straw has stirred these tigress spirits,
but not in a good way
When the Good Wives Club start breaking bad,
there’s gonna be divorce hell to pay
Those Ladies Night Out
now grinds to an adulterous sway

Neglected desires are maritally hated,
lost fidelity mourned in Goth black
Intimacy ignored is so cold calculated;
bad math, write digits for call back

Cougars don’t like being domesticated,
coyote ugly do love to run in a pack
Foxy motives ain’t hen house overrated,
passionate predators are on the attack

Suburban lionesses on a stag hunting mission,
got dark jaguar urban jungle keen night vision
Painted panthers on a one-night-stand prowl,
coy cheetahs moving fast with their claws out,
Hot, feral women with cougar pent-up emotions,
are lethal loving leopards with spotted devotions

Passionate predators,
only lascivious hearts dare venture
If you got a taste for the forbidden,
then you got a wish to be eaten

Acronym alert:
NITM
(Not in the mood)
**Poetic shorthand —
Romantic Warrior

Rap Is Where It's At

Rap Is Where It's At

jump in the game no here to complain
being busy as a bee in a land of make believe
we shoot for the top but it ends in the flames
let me be the first to explain
I'm staying in the game this is my time
May shoot to the top in my prime or stand in line
Sugar is sweet like honey but I'm going to be the one who brings home the money
Life is funny in its twists and turn one soul soars while the other one burns
we can each learn from our teachers it's not a walk in the park late night double feature
we got to learn to stick close together no matter what the weather
see each of us has a gift we must use or its forgotten
thank God we got to kill that thug Ben Laden
search your heart you got great rhymes inside
don't fall away or try to run away & hide
go slow at first to take up the pace
some folks may think your from outer space
yet what do they know there just jealous you see
many don't even know there A.B.C's
stop spreading the disease it will knock you to you knees
look toward the ocean while you use your magic lotion
take a shot in the dark & someday you will find
you will never be left behind
it all comes down from within deep inside
look at the junkie in the gutter
the mother who doesn't have enough to pay her bills
she turns to cheap thrills to do what she has to do
have we bitten off far more then we could chew
kick it in the shower its your hour of power
in the end you get to make the final decision
it isn't found in some fake front wishing
Rap is where its at your going to make me have a heart attack
the signs are painted all around
listen as you'll hear it's nasty sound

Premium Member A Duck-Billed Platypus

A duck-billed platypus
Is bathing on the bus
She left her favorite stream
To join our swimming team

She did so well last year
Her lane was free and clear
Until the final leg
When Platy laid an egg

The hippopotami
Don’t eat the platy pie
Because the hippo bake
Is better served with cake

The platy pie who pluck
Are eating Peking duck
Because the ducks that pry
Are dinner by and by

I knew a platypus
Who shared her duck with us
My dinner pals were thrilled
Because the duck was billed

O what a cunning creature
To don a double feature
The mammal with a plus
A duck-billed platypus.

The Show

Did you ever go to a Theatre and see a double feature?
One sight an auditorium to see maybe a western and a horrible creature.
We all at one time or another have been to one these I’m sure.
Last time I went it was a mystery and another about a doctor and his cure.

Bear with me I’ll explain we as carnal men are in the end of the second feature.
The first movie if you will was the Exodus, freedom for all men God’s creatures.
A gift given to God’s chosen people a gift to cherish and nurture.
Living simply, the children of Israel had at that point a bright loving future.

Here came the first stumbling block, the evil one, the master deceiver arrives amongst men.
He tricks men to make false idols, revel and play, they transgressed and here desolation begins.
Satan has come to earth amongst men so his first feature is accomplished and hence the second one has come.
The here and now, famine, pestilence, greed, vanity, all the killings with their bombs.

Our Father knows all he explains and tells all’ “Us” to be vigil, watch for His return, Here His call’
Yet we fail as carnal men to hear it we ignore the Holy Bible, the spiritual way to all.
We as men have never abided by the first commandment.
“Thou shall not kill’” so now the Lord is showing heavenly signs, He tells “Us” He’s angry and adamant.

So now the second show is upon “Us” man knows the devil is amongst man, He’s alive and well.
His time is short so out of fury He’s going to make this tribulation happen, a true living hell.
God our Father knows this; He always has and through Love He gives
“Us” the Holy Bible.

All God asks of “Us” is to have faith in Jesus, have a spiritual love.
A perfect Lord showing His compassion, His spiritual dove.
Understanding in the beginning it was the “Word”.
The ending is proclaimed in Doctrine, so the second feature will end with peace, love, harmony, all because God does love carnal man, sending Jesus His Son our Lord.

My Breaking Point

Hot headed asses
Filled with commie bastards
Social disorder in the brain insane with pain
As if socialized wandering wizards chicken gizzards
My breaking point to no return hero burn
In sweat caged fury everything scarey
Shaded pine in derision chasing after delusion

Fought back the pain with a smile on the dial
To frolic in the whisper almost a certain Hitler
Shadows filled up with asps darkened portals pitch black
Her memory haunts me to this day I pray
Shortness of breath in pitch blackened vest
Let me take the time to get some things off my chest then rest

As if a caged rat that was hiding in its tiny hole death stole
The memory of a whisper pitch black death hero's vest
No time to rest & watch any double feature
***** with the sneakers!
Sadness in the soul portal going viral as it seems
Lethal demise yet one word to the wise
In recourse blackened pilgrims with skulls & crossbones to prey on the dead!

Premium Member Red Panda Dressed As Robin Hood

Who made red panda Robin Hood? My cousin asked.
No idea, but go along with it if you can, I replied.
His hat is feathered, and he is amply flasked.
And he is walking the path, now coming inside.

Hello fair Robin Hood, my cousin said quickly.
His words turned upbeat lickety-split-ly.
I laughed at my cousin, who is afraid of this creature.
But invites him to stay over to watch a double feature.

Why did you do that? I whisper as Robin robs us.
It is irritating to me, as he steals my parakeet, Gus.
I was terrified, my cousin says, I did not know what to say.
That is no big deal for my cousin, actually, a typical day.

Premium Member Rural State of Time

Inside the coffee shop
At the counter a beat cop
Being a routine buyer
Late night special that soon will expire
Keeping tabs
On those driving cabs
Is the dispatcher
Finding a matcher
Make the right run
Passenger pick up done
Sitting in a booth
Paying bills keeping a home and roof
In another corner
Fiddling with a recorder
A reporter
Writing a story
Saying ‘not to worry’
Then there is a teen
Releasing poetic anger using words that scream
Garage rock n roller
Scribbling lyrics on a school folder
Explaining what he told her
Goal right now collecting green
Will do anything for the team
As the waitress comes bye
Visiting each guy
Pouring a drink
Leaving them alone to think
In a place
Where a dessert brings a smile pleasing one’s face
Discuss issues and build a case
Over a blue plate
Actually tasting great
After paying bill
Enjoying the fill
They all leave
Working for a fee
To a degree
Sitting back down
In the diner town
Server watches another group
Come in enjoying an all night loop
A teacher
Preacher
And a creature
Working concession at the drive in double feature
Wearing a costume
Entertaining under the moon
All here
Bringing some cheer
Simply put there is nothing to fear
In a rural state of mind
Where everyone has the time

Like a Bird Caught In a Snare

she whispered in his ear
 Torn
 hands, eyes & heart
at first he plunged into her like an ox

caught up in the charm of the moment
in a blink of an eye it was over
 under the covers
she treasured a red rose that was plucked a time before

the twilight sun has tainted her inner vision
felt a funeral in the brain let me explain
two lovers embarked on a cosmic scene
living in a land that is so very mean

a moment of pleasure now with a lifetime of regret
for I'm so very sorry that we had met
as a cold clap in the dark
she lit the spark to what I needed to know

faint hearted creatures in a double feature
the logical choice would have been to abstain
something's not quite right in the brain
just not having her in my arms now is driving me insane

Tombstones For Eyes

Tombstones For Eyes

We search for solace amidst the crowd to appease
One day we shall all bow humbly to our knees
The land is dark without the sun to light
When this life is over there is no double feature
Shades of black decorated the plate of mast
Silence etched it's beckoning call asunder
Tombstones for eyes does this come at a big surprise
Can't we ever see through the devil's lies
We live in a land where cash is king
No chance at heart to let the freedom ring
In silence we get a glimpse of what it is to come
Blackened hearts of evil that plug destruction
We used to live in freedom's realm
That was so long ago another theatre with a lost film
Rather there is glue on the stick that is nothing new
A borrowed pew to offer sacrifices to the Lord
The faces with tombstones for eyes having long fangs that bite
They search for blood in the dead of night
Walking zombies seeking self to please
They cry for peace yet their hearts are frozen
Living in their fake mechanical world of temporary
You search for blood out on the street exchange love for lust
Two hearts that soar out to the sky a happy passerby
They are amng us yet they are not of us
Having seared their hearts to what's torn apart

Premium Member Kismet Was Ready

Beautiful floppy hat with a kaleidoscopic design,
You show up in the courtyard as I taste my wine.
Your wearer caught my eyes, she is such a beauty.
I wish I was not leaving tomorrow, but it is my duty.

I signed up for the navy before I met this lovely creature.
Recruiters got me hard and good, showing me a double feature.
I want to get her number, but kismet will have to be ready.
Right now, I am a seaman, shipping off, a guy named Freddy.

I take one last look at the beauty under the hat.
Is that my sister next to her? What do you think of that?
Kismet has a plan. I run over to say “hi”.
“This is my brother Fred, Sue said. “he is a great guy.”

Coexist

Coexist

We need to get back to the basics of love
Sent down from the higher power from above
Let' s pray for the fallen mighty men of ore
For those who are gay, straight or any other
For my over weight brother from another mother
Those of the pentecostal, baptist & catholic faith
Some may argue to resist to coexist with their fist
Now was there something that I clearly missed
Through shallow dreams filled up with evil schemes
Evil minds that plug destruction sorcering their brain washed mind
A line is now being drawn in the sand
You can't stand for peace & be a member of the Klu Klux Klan
Sound the alarm we are charmed with a bit of vice
Our gods we worship may provide good advices
Coexist with your neighbor who seems so far away
Coexist to a preacher who is on their knees to pray
Coexist to the street walker in the shaded perils of night
We all are given a choice to stay in the game of life
Through colors marked on a blotted page yet clearly intact
Working yourself into an early grave might even get a heart attack
Sing praise to the God that made you for you are his creature
You only get one chance at this life game there is no double feature

Days Longed To Be Remembered

Fifty years ago came
to me this morning
days long pass
a June day so cool.

Waking up to musical
sounds of birds singing
to me. All summer
long to freely do
as I pleased.

No cares, no worries
just now waiting for
friend Danny to call,
to see what we will do.

Junior high school waits
for us after Labor Day
but today June 12 is long way
off till then, so let's
have some fun while
we can.

Shep greets me at back door
with a wag of his tail,
love this dog who has
three more years with us yet.

So many things to do,
three movie palaces
downtown, we may go
to one of them.

Swiming would be fun,
but it looks like rain,
just heard Buddy Holly
sing "That Will Be The Day"
on the radio, great song and singer.

Nineteen-Fifty-Seven, days
longed to be remembered.

Heading downtown on trolly
bus, only ten cent fare,
what a deal that was.
Paramount Theater, what
a movie house, and so grand.

Twenty-five cents to
see double feature
"The Incredible Shrinking
man" was playing today,
don't remember other flim.

Danny and I both loved
this flim. after movie
we went over to city drug
for a coke, only ten cents.

Rain is coming down
real hard now as
we sip our cokes
joking around as we
always did.

Rain has stopped as
we walk over to catch
our bus.

Neither of us knew it
at the time that someday
we would look back, not knowing
that this date, June 12, 1957, would be.

    Days longed to be remembered.

Premium Member I, Zombie, Part 0: the Begetting

A horror is born
Star of the show, The Zombie
Go and break a leg…

One, seemingly whole
Sound in mind, body and soul
Unaware the toll

The exacting price
Sins of the genetic splice
Specters claim last rights

Starts off slow and sure
Sneaking in through the back door
The Monster is born

It takes hold and grows
The Daemon show is begun
The Zombie is cast

With a grand entrance
The Daemon of Delusion
The Doppelganger

One is now possessed
As the players take the stage
Act one, Mania

Act two, Depression
Either act three or act four
Schizophrenia

Final act may be
Rage, could be Anxiety
Or Euphoria

Catatonia
Might make the final curtain
But can’t take a bow

The next performance
When the clock chimes whenever
The show must go on

Deep within the shell
There’s a desperate spirit
Crying for release

Trapped within a cell
A creature double feature
You, It, Them, Box…Keys?

One personal hell
Zombie infamous heaven
A dubious lot

Bottom of the well
Bloody, scratching and clawing
Too deep, slick and steep

Daemons dance macabre
Mind becoming a circus
Carnival freak show

Crimson spotlight bathed
At center ring a vile box
No keys, doors or locks

The dance is joined fast
By the Monster and the past
The Zombie is last

Torture all the while
The Monster plays on and smiles
You are now its child

Time for blood letting
Your mind you’ll be forgetting
It’s the begetting…
