Demonically Dispossessed
...man has the ability to express great love,
and dispense great evil...
The legions of darkness descend as they beastly bewilder and offend
The serpents of Babylon attend as their ecumenical evil does extend
In a pandemonium plunge with pernicious pains and succulent sponge
With tenacious tongues they lunge and fast fade away as they expunge
~~~
In their fallacious faculties fermenting feces frolicking the wasteland
Demonic disciples preach profanities before the sanguineous sand
As they efficiently eviscerate exigently under their hellion command
For they are curious to castrate the condemned as their cries demand
~~~
Within their taunting tantalize as hearts bleed amidst the scarlet skies
Their goal the soul to compromise and for love to cripple and capsize
In a vortex venomous vile blasphemous broods of a damnation defile
For we must battle the bile as warriors of light with a sagacious smile.

As you flee behind you hear
Your hate filled screaming foes
Pillaging and burning
Their tutored hatred beyond reason
For no reason
Loudspeakers hastily erected amongst the rubble
Play a dirge of victory
As they hold a pyrrhic parade
As you flee to who knows where
North, south, east or west?
Don't know. Don't care
Just away
Unknown lands ahead
There be monsters?
You only hope you've left them behind
As you flee you see the broken crowds
A caravan of the barely living
Some men and children in uniforms
Now just costumes
Clutch their weapons that failed them
The debris of war litter the poisoned earth
Twisted metal entomb twisted flesh
Broken souls pass by
Your town is gone
Your home is gone
Your family - alive or dead - gone
Your life - your past - gone
Your food - the last scrap - gone
Your water - the last drop - gone
Your hope - gone
You have nothing
But you are not nothing
As you flee become the seed
That penetrates a fertile land
And makes it grow afresh
You may fall on stony ground
As many will
As you flee you reach the well meaning camps
A pale shade of existence
Living in forgotten limbo
As you flee strike out to promised lands
Schizophrenic peoples that both welcome and revile
As you join their underclass
A scapegoat for all their ills
Cast aside your skills, your art, your education
And toil and sweat on the work that no-one wants
And when you finally accept this is your lot
Toil and sweat for your children
Who can never understand your struggle, your journey
But carry the seed of your people
Maybe one day they will return home
And rebuild

Down and out, destitute
In dire need , no help or
Support only war or dispute,
Poverty for those we adore,
Overlooked, become invisible
Spiritually and morally
Subjected to the impossible
Exploited so horribly
Societies lack of conscience
Subdue emotional control
Ending or to recommence
Dispossessing heart and soul.

CONTEST NUMBER 1 - AN ACROSTIC INCORPORATING A QUATRIAN Poetry Contest.

Oft my mind to your sweetness flies
For the sway of you is the life of mine
Serene smiles and your light coincide
To unbolt my spirit and distort my time
But my ears must unopen to your murmurous chime
Long I've been dispossessed of your touch divine
Yet I persist and pursue in such torturous rhymes
But now has flown when my heart must decline
And the hour speaks that my passions must resign
For long, ages ago did your love whisper good-bye
And from that deadly moment since I have denied
That it was my once lively soul that has lonely died
THE THIEF
I circle you slowly,
blow in dust from the south,
I smother your nose,
and breathe in your mouth.
I force you to strangle,
to spit up black mash,
Stinging your tongue,
turning lashes to ash.
I can make myself hotter,
I’ll broil your braids,
then sauté your ankles,
and french fry your legs .
I’m subtle... at first!
You won’t know I’ve begun.
By the time that you catch me,
I’ve already won.
I lick your feet,
with orange and red.
I vortex upward,
and shout “Oz” to the dead.
I am ravenous and chew:
your things as they burn,
a dog or a bobble,
your mom in her urn.
I drink to absorb,
your birdbath and dew,
the juice from wild plants,
and maybe from you.
I spit out chimneys,
some tiles, a plate.
It’s nothing personal;
it’s how I create.
I devour round mountains,
snack on redwoods and oaks,
taste your clothing and groceries,
and burp down cold cokes.
I’ll see you next summer,
when the solstice draws near!
As you sleep on a beach towel,
sip your tea, or drink beer.
When your roses are plump
and your sunsets are deep,
I will rise from the Earth
and I’ll take what you keep.

DISPOSSESSED
Running,
Running…
We are always running,
running again.
I clutch my son’s small hand,
his fingernails drive into my palm.
Running, Running again,
and the cold is catching up to us.
Every step is slippery, against the
permafrost, and muddy sludge.
Running, limping, run…
What to tell my son.
Do I make this a game?
A lie, like Santa Claus or god?
Running, and freezing.
Breathing hurts, he’s hungry.
I see my husband‘s Face,
I can not look again!
I must leave last looks behind …
and run, leave him, memorize the love.
I see the borderline, it’s
tall whispering figures…
they limp, sit or stoop.
My son is tired and cold.
My parents are back there.
We had to leave them down below,
in a subway dripping, and colorless.
They can’t do the running now!
The lines stretch for miles. People,
my people, but alone, sick at heart.
Sick at soul, but brave with fury,
walking, pushing, barely standing.
Are we men, are we eighteen,
are we women, or children?
The two of us don’t seem to know!
In our mind, we’re still running …
… running home,
in our mind.
