More Than An Athlete - Secretariat

"more than an athlete"

from the moment of birth you stood tall
with balance and strength you ran strong
for the love of freedom you were above all
it wasn't that you were a champion to rule
no other compared or could sing your song
trumpets sounded for you to hear
at that moment the sword was near
more than an athlete you remain Secretariat
three fine races were yours for the winning
demonstrating power excellence endurance
you set both stage and show from the beginning
with fullness of wonderment heart and eagerness
to this day your legacy is held with reverence
although one other ran your race to fame
your body of strength is a burning flame
more than an athlete you remain Secretariat

One Thousand and One Bombs On Baghdad

We were accustomed to read one thousand
And one night in Baghdad...
Tonight the glorious city-sky is sad,
It sounded bang! Bang
Where is my mummy? Where is my dad?
Are they all alive under the cruise wreckage;
Or are they all dead?
The a ‘Rashid city was weeping,
It rained hatred,
It rained prejudiced,
It rained cactus of different shapes,
They're all aliens,
Some were homemade,
They're all colourful,
In blue, in yellow and in red.
Do you still remember brother?
Because if you don't I still do
What the big Satan, Lucifer what he said!
The cross versus the crescent, take it or leave it,
An entire racism by the media was also fed.
Some hidden in a banker,
Others crawling of hunger,
Others demonstrating with anger,
Pale, yellowish faces they all looked bad.
Where is my nation..My Arabity..My Islam ?
Oh...Mutasamahh! Where are my brothers?
Are they all dead???
They called it precise bombing and it was right indeed,
In the heart of the baby-heart
Like the British game of dart,
The arrow hit its target,
It hit it like mad.
Nobody moves a finger,
In the age of Patriot and Stinger,
They all believe in star-wars, economic prosperity,
They all believe in the Pope, pop-star singer,
They all believe that one-day Allah would side with them to defeat,
The neo-Thamud and Aad,
They're all waiting for the coming future Mahdi,
And for the Armageddon battle to be led.

Premium Member A Soldier Named Desmond Doss

Help me save just one
They are so many
I have reason for no gun
I refuse the use of any
Use me to carry him
On my back to safety
It’s now dark, dim
Just one, help me
To what am I assigned
Why am I here, if not for Thee
These men are left behind
Show them mercy, I implore
To what extent, oh dear Lord
Please God, just one more
They are wounded, dying
Hear my plea, just one more

He was a conscientious objector
He would be the first to be awarded the Medal of Honor
He for his actions in Okinawa for his service in World War II
His religious convictions as a Seventh-day Adventist
He refused to carry a weapon
He initially faced opposition, persecution
He would be ridiculed from his fellow soldiers
He ultimately won their admiration by demonstrating courage
He served as a combat medic
He refused to kill an enemy soldier
He chose military service 1942, at Camp Lee, Virginia
He was awarded two Bronze Star Medals with a "V" device
His exceptional valor in aiding wounded soldiers under fire, honored
He saved the lives of 75 wounded infantrymen
He was evacuated on May 21, 1945, aboard the USS Mercy
He was Corporal Desmond Thomas Doss (1919 –2006)

The Passion of the Possibilities

"The Passion of The Possibilities"

Here
the shades
are never drawn
on twin blues

Sun shines
always
on
my Blue Sky

Here
the grace of
Love
is emerald green

New
fresh and uncut
wild to run
free

Light shining
turned on

dark bathing in
the sexus of
discovery
demonstrating

polarity
and

The passion of the possibilities

I will open my sails
in hope it will bring me your way"

Premium Member Devotion Poem Vantage Points

** Devotion Poem, VANTAGE POINTS **
(For Jim. #17 in Devotion Poem Series)

“I’m not a romantic,”
you announced at the very beginning
With a side-flick of your hand
As if you might then stand
To exit…taking along your trail
Of cool colors — the blues and greens —
Too unwilling for any startling
By my sun yellows, tangerine oranges
Or my bleeding reds,
To disturb your eyes.
But committed to staying, you added,
“I’ve never been able to wink either,”
  demonstrating that disability as if
To say, “At you, I would if I could.”

Hypotheses and proofs, have
  always linked
In your engineer’s character,
While crayons and ongoing arrows
   spread out through mine,
Which, like our colors,
I thought were complimentary,
But now it appears you
   might have thought
   were just me being childish
And not about any inspired creativity,
from the other side of the brain, so
Alien to the light-green violets
On your side of the color wheel:
Where the palette of intelligence
   has formulae —
Not unpredictable outbursts
Or random integers of emotion.

Once, you held me like the first
Glimpsing of a winking Venus
   in the dusk
Presenting to all
Her prelude of heaven’s lights
To continue on through the night…

But now, paddling deep in
   an ocean of years,
I fear that you find me
Like a flicking bedside candle
Meddling in your wish to sleep…

While some galaxies
   in my cosmos
Have darkened
With my own self-depreciation
   and decline
So like
Those stars
and dreams that have gone aging.
But inside,
My sun’s risings and settings
Still glow blessed
With vibrant, surging color…
Wishing to be held by
   your morning’s horizon-blue eyes.

Shameful Ex-Boyfriend

My soul urns for justice and it’s own freedom why is this sh** keep me awake and everything else continuously makes me break I am demonstrating my fake famous traits amazingly entertaining everyone around me they praise me by keeping my life and my name above importance’s and responsibilities. “Wow”, that’s great THANKS for your thoughts of me and about me I guess this will become a memory some day you’ll repeat this to one of your homies. I guess this is some kind of way you are showing some enemy love. Your always talking sh** about someone you don’t even know personally judge me I guess that’s all you even see or heard from some douche bag you met briefly surprised by my drama you rather be Popperazii then even worry about what’s really going on. On the local hometown news station. And really besides that I guess I keep you up at night or maybe it’s your choice in drug use???? Beats me just stay away from me please. I was board today and decided to write this just for all to see. Desperate and cold cruel is what the world turns and shows our lord what he created all of us to be why or how did you even choose this for me? I’m blessed in many ways but what is with my ex you see he’s a never ending STD which I say this cause he gave me twice. And you see he said he has never cheated on me? I know I haven’t ever had time to even pay attention to another man or woman I was always alone and waiting for him to get off work he made good money got paid every week 300 I began to find out this from his family I don’t understand why we are homeless after 8 mouths I told myself it’s time to move on I’m dumb if I stay and waste my big opportunities. He’s cheated on me and still he lied I know better cause I have proof I know I’m not perfect I have had some mistakes too but I can admit mine I’ve told him in the passed that I’ve cheated but you know he didn’t even believe me. He says I’m not a cheater! He’s right I’m not that’s why I had told him before I acted on my actions He’s a back stabber I regret being his ex and friend....

Modern Driver Education - a Satire

Modern Driver Education

By Elton Camp

The driving school wanted to be up to date
Though current trends the teacher did hate

The boss said, “If in your job you’d stay,
You must doing things the modern way.”

Not wanting to face the unemployment line
The instructor very reluctantly said, “Fine”

He taught students the sneaky way to text
How to apply makeup while driving, next

Then how to eat with one hand while you drive
And to sip from a cup while still staying alive

Also he showed how to effectively use the radio
And the way to consult the GPS while on the go

Plus how to avoid a law enforcement trap
For driving while downloading an app

Demonstrating, so strange it made him feel,
Doing an obscene sign, one hand on the wheel

Premium Member A Bystander a Downstander and An Upstander

Up-standers ask a bully to please stop.
But not in a bullying voice.
Understand?
Head nod.

Down-standers join the bully.
They call the victim names too
Scared they will be the next target if they do not.
Cowards.

By-standers stand by,
Trying to ignore what is happening, feeling badly later
Wishing they had been an up-stander.
So what do you want to be?

An Up-Stander, a Down-Stander or a By-Stander?

“I want to be a run-a-way-er,” he said, demonstrating.

The Old Oak Tree

The old oak tree

A lonely old wooden swing
Suspended in complete stillness
Gripped by ropes once white
Now stained with memories of childhood
Frayed and worn
Two decades old
It hangs faithfully to the strong arms of the huge oak tree
Golden leaves hang off the dry deeply rippled branches
By the tiniest vein

Their yellow and brown comrades surround them
A gentle gust of wind sending them fluttering on their last flight
Through musky damp air down to wet ground below
A dreaded smell of death for the non-deciduous trees
The lonely old wooden swing waits patiently and calm
Protected by its giant friend

Memories of swinging up into the air so high
Holding tightly onto thick white ropes
My long blonde hair flowing behind
Laying back but holding on tight
Legs in, legs out
Eyes closed
Swaying back and forth

It feels like flying
The air wafting over my happy face
Back and forth, back and forth
Standing up still swinging
On bended legs
Daring with no fear

Long blistering hot summers sitting cross legged
Making daisy chains for my gran
Camps for the neighbours kids
With old sheets tied to the old oak tree
Telling ghost stories to each other

Plastic cups and saucers
Pretend tea and cakes
A British summer party
Playing hide and seek within deep bushes
Our jungle to explore

Races on the lawn
The smell of freshly cut grass hanging in the air
My pretty red and white gingham dress
Stained with the debris, as were my hands
Nails as green as the Incredible Hulk
School holidays seemed to last forever

The lonely old wooden swing now sits dormant
Waiting patiently and calm
To be loved once more
Hear the laughter of children
And it will
Of that I am certain
As the wind blows the swing starts to move
Back and forth, back and forth
Swaying slowly, a solitary soul
Demonstrating its approval
As I present my new born daughter
From her nursery window
To future adventures in her garden
The last leaf drops slowly to the earth

Premium Member Answer Me This

Americans have overcome many great trials,
But harbor too some persistent denials.
Stubbornly clutching long-held positions,
Over time have become national traditions.
Pride in the sanctity of individualism,
Elevates in stature, creating a schism.
Unresolved core beliefs, rationalization,
Test the thinking of this citizen nation.

Answer Me This:
Why do so many use the credo that "the ends justify the means"?

Knowing that this is not always true is not a revelation.
Similarly, two wrongs do not make a right.
Provisional right and wrong are practically necessary.
Short-term gain cannot be exchanged sacrificing long-term integrity.

Answer Me This:
Why can't we resolve gender, race, religious, age and sexual orientation biases and discrimination?

Most of the world understands, we lag behind.
Nearly 7 billion people think of us as one human family.
Much of America still does not agree.

Answer Me this:
Why can't we balance individual self interest and collective interest equitably?

When individual interest substantially effects the health and safety of the collective, it must give way.

Answer Me This:
Why does our foreign policy say "my enemy's enemy is my friend"?

This faulty logic does not allow that the enemy's enemy may be another enemy.
This can lead to dire diplomatic consequences.

All these basic questions are easy to dismiss,
Eventually representing an intellectual abyss.
Our people have shown courage under duress,
Demonstrating kindness to others and selflessness.
Our ability to think, innovate, create,
Is really no matter for international debate.
The world sees our achievements one must confess,
Over centuries no other rivals America's progress.
So why, after all, can't you answer me this,
These things that we do and continually miss?

Patience

You will never find love if you search for it.
It will duck
Dive
Jump
Run
Hide
It will do anything it can to stay out of grasp
Only those whom behold the most powerful virtue
Patience
Can attain love
Patience
The forgotten building block of human essence
Those who give up searching for love
Live their life
Demonstrating great patience
Become successful
Will have love come to them
Not just any love
True love
The greatest and purest love

Psycho

trapped in the category of basic feelings, attesting to the functional regularity of the average human and demonstrating the crystal-clear predictability of their secular behavior, hatred, love, envy and jealousy consolidated practically all the advance and retreat of a race that eternally gravitates around its own navel, growing at the limit of the satisfaction of instincts and collapsing to the exact extent and at the time when it judges itself full and satiated, ignoring or comfortably avoiding understanding that both transcendence and evolution require the uprising of satiety, since this in everything resembles resignation and cowardice.

Freedom In Love

Keeping my head up, treading water
Cut throat surviving, struggling
Going under, death visits
Will to live, tested!
Selfishness Vs Selflessness
A Greater Love, encompasses me
God demonstrating mercy, for his children
Learning about forgiveness, cultivating, inner faith
Melody of Love, one can experience
In the darkest, waking hours, of everyday living
Self survival, learning how to live
Peace of Mind, Peace of Heart
Peaceful Spirit, Freedom in Love
