Day of Rest

Lazy Sunday morn
Sleeping in is such a joy
Still in bed at noon

Day of Rest

For Christians it is Sunday
For Jews Saturday
The idea of
              a
              day
              of
              rest
is a beautiful one
The daily grind
beats down many
   leaving them frazzled
and on edge
 To refresh the soul
and make one whole
and make one's peace with creation !
Those are the hallmarks
   of the Sabbath
Turn on your inner light!
It is what we must cling to
if we do not
             wish
to be swept away
in the tidal wave
known as existence

Premium Member A Day of Rest

It's late on Friday afternoon
The Sabbath Queen is coming soon
The sun has run her daily course
We've milked the cow and fed the horse
There's only one thing left to do
~ With candles lit, bid work adieu

Premium Member Sunday Is the Day of Rest

So much work to be completed
Sunday laze
I am unhurried
Calm, unconcerned
I have completed one task.

Today is my day of rest.
I will honor it as such.
Honoring my Lord’s edict.
Through prayer, meditation and delightfulness.
I repose on my porch, unhurried.

A plastic bag takes off from my feet
Like a bird in flight; she is carried away
I do not rush after her, knowing what will be will be
God’s wind sends the bag into a swirl.
She is returned to my feet.

I am enjoying my lazy, peaceful Sunday.
I am in God’s hands,
the pattern of the bag
has shown me this truth.

A day of rest
Forget who’s best
And live my day
The best I know how
In every way

Premium Member A Quiet Day of Rest

A quiet Sunday, with its first sun rays and shadows,
Ceasing to be such by a whirring of implements.
The tools wielded by the day of rest sideshows.
Pushers and blowers of the bible’s antithesis.
Not
      To
         Be
             Judgmental
                               But
                                     Imagine

The birds tweeting under cloudy or flaming skies;
Oaks, maples, and pines in quiescent sublimity;
And the bees buzzing, honeys stirring at sunrise.
All doors open, air out busy week, neighbors in unanimity.
Just
      Imagine
                  The
                        Bee
                              Line
                                     For
                                          Church

The perfect didn’t wake up on the good side of the bed,
But they gather for Living Waters and the Bread of Life.
Down the street, in old-fashioned promenade, led
To listen to the Word of truth, praise God, let go of strife.
Gather
          Like
                The
                      Sons
                              Of
                                  God
                                         At
                                            Dawn

Imagine, the coming week begins with Sabbath rest.
The restless wanderer sits on the porch with lemonade,
Ruminates with kith and kin, weariness addressed.
What wonders of hope and joy, conquers the world, unafraid
With
       A
         Quiet
                  Day
                        Of
                            Rest
