A Day of Rest

It's late on Friday afternoon
The Sabbath Queen is coming soon
The sun has run her daily course
We've milked the cow and fed the horse
There's only one thing left to do
~ With candles lit, bid work adieu

Milking the cow seems to be a theme in my family. My father wrote a hilarious poem (in Yiddish), the last line of which (translated) reads, 'Morning dawns. Milk the cow.' It was a complete non-sequitur as well, which increased my laughter. I guess I'm just a chip off the old block. Thanks, Brenda. Cheers, gw

Hope your Sabbath was relaxing and blessed and your Shabbat meals were a beautiful bonding family experience. Great poem Gershon. Hugs, Jennifer.

Thank you, Sandra. I think a 'Lay' is one of the easier forms, as it's octosyllabic, which doesn't tax my increasingly feeble brain overmuch. Best wishes, Gershon
