Rain and Rain and More Rain

On August 29, 2005, the "Rain and Rain and more Rains came", destroying everything we had worked a lifetime for. My home that we had just finished building, one year ago, all our furniture, keepsakes, irreplaceable cherished photos along with all our cars except the one we were driving.

The only thing remaining was our boat, "Akula" who suffered a football size hole just above her waterline. I remain grateful that her batteries were charged well enough to continue to bail her out for two consecutive weeks. These rains came in the wrath of a lady named, "Katrina." "Akula" means shark and it would take a shark to make it through this.

I remember I did not cry like others in my neighborhood. I felt it was just a home which could be rebuilt. I also know it did not completely destroy Akula or I would have cried. There's something about a man's boat that befits both sexes and that something is called "Real Love."

Aboard 'Akula" along with the Red Cross, we managed to feed the neighbors for weeks on end. You don't need to know about the multitude of snakes that were inside my house hiding in closets waiting to strike or the wild hogs that were blown in, eating from the plentiful tossed out refrigerators.

All you need to know is that the people were not lazy The only reason they did not leave is because all of us have heard "Cry Wolf" so many times that when a Hurricane threatens it's just an excuse for a red Solo cup party. Simply put: If anyone had known they would die they would not have stayed.

A few weeks later with communication restored we learned that two of our friends drowned, one in Bay St Louis, MS and the other in Biloxi. I didn't cry. Feelings are neither right nor wrong, they just are....

Full Moon closest to Fall is termed ‘Harvest Moon’
That’s the seasonal time to harvest
Next Full Moon the ‘Hunter’s Moon’ comes very soon
To go for hunting is the best.

 In respective orbital path
On certain Full Moon night
Sun-Moon in-between Earth
Come in a line, just right.

 Sun-Moon-Earth paired together
 When come in perfect alignment
Lunar Eclipse will occur
Technical term ‘SYZGY’ has been set.

Under thinner-most shadow of Earth if Moon slips
Eclipse is known to be Pen-Umbral
If partially shadowed, it’s Partial Eclipse
Fully shadowed Eclipse is called Total.

Total Lunar Eclipse, now being called ‘Blood Moon’
As the eclipsed moon is not dull or dark losing glamor
But exhibits rusty red-hue glow looking boon
Sun-spectrum through atmosphere display reddish color

If the Harvest Moon shows Blood Moon at perigee
The closest position of Moon to Earth
One tenth larger and thirty percent brighter to see
Spectacular ‘Super Moon’ most worth.

If consecutive four ‘Blood Moon’ appeared
Rare occasions of lunar performance
The event is known as ‘Lunar Tetrad’
In between eclipse to come has no chance.

Watching ‘Super Moon’ I felt lucky
 Then, have I gone lunatic?
Enjoying marvelous cosmos beauty?
No, I am just romantic.

Book: Radiant Verses: A Journey Through Inspiring Poetry

Note For the Faint Hearted

When she was born she had no father,
spent nights in the streets to feed her mother,
who was diagnose with a disease cancer,
she strolled the streets naked for suitors,
the life was worse she became a call girl.

As the sun rose she headed to her homestead,
weak frail with nothing to show but her instead,
she saw her her mother still as a log dead,
she shoved her side to side but she was dead.

She sobbed and wept for three consecutive weeks,
her relatives came and tried to comfort her weak,
her body was soul less for she was now alone,
living this life without her parent was steel hard,

As the months passed she could not pay her rent,
her landlady threw her out like a rat to pitch tent,
she lay by the side work she now call her house pent,
begging was her routine just to collect small cents

Every night she wore a half knitted dress,
ready to sell herself because she was a mess,
every suitor passed her because of her scent,
she was now devastated almost to the edge of death.

One day as she begged beside the street,
her self surrounded by dirt covered in a sheet,
a man saw her and felt pity on her soul,
he took her by her hand and told her come.

Like a good samaritan he clothed and fed her,
told her to clean up for she would be househelp,
she neither rejected nor accepted the offer,
but when evening camethe house was clean.

In years to come she became the talk of town,
The good samaritan married and left her in town,
She was now stable fit for her to bear a crown,
as she is now the director of the biggest orphanage in town

Life may seem cruel at some point in time,
but know that god has a way to change it,
we may live on the edge of of life,
but just believe and it will be alright

Premium Member Memories of Malta

We’ve recently been to Malta and had an incredible time
I met Paul, Charma and Victor. Meeting soupers was divine!
The memories I have of our time together
Will stay with me forever and ever
In Malta there is so much to do, so many places to explore
It was our fourth consecutive visit … Malta holidays I adore!
Soon the time came for us to say goodbye
And home in the airplane we’d have to fly
I climbed on board the airplane (I’ll try to be discrete)
But the man sitting next to me was also taking up MY seat
I couldn’t put the arm rest down it was covered by his back
He needed a seat belt extension to give him a bit of slack
Fortunately I’m petite and don’t take up too much room
I wasn’t squashed for too long .. the pilot sure went zoom!

Premium Member Unforeseen Aubade

Up slightly past midnight,
we finally called it a day as we
exchanged goodnight kisses and
amorous glances with tired eyes

Half-awake early morn', I lay supine
on the left side of our king-sized bed
I scanned the right up-and-down for her;
with my outstretched arms; surprising vacancy!
She's gone...

unbeknownst to me!

I sprang fully awake with two consecutive thoughts...
"When, oh when will my main squeeze return?"
"She left without saying goodbye?"

Then my face meets the mirror,
and voila! An unmistakable crimson stamp
on my right cheek
to remember her by...

unbeknownst to me!

She did say goodbye, after all.
And I miss her so!

Premium Member Cher Is My Favorite Artist

Cher, why do I love you? Is it your dancing? Your acting?
Is it your singing? The Sonny and Cher Comedy Hour?
Thirty million viewers a week cannot be wrong.
Gypsy, Tramps and Thieves is one of my all-time favorite songs
But she has to be sung by you to elicit full power.

Cher, you are so beautiful in Bob Mackie’s costumes.
I can close my eyes and see the Indian headdress on you
With your sweet flat belly button showing.
And your all powerful dancing eyes as you made fun of Sonny.

Mask, The Witches of Eastwick and Silkwood are favorites with me
Because you were in there, showing your vulnerabilities, being yourself.
You have won a Grammy, an Emmy and an academy award.
The people love you, and I am one of them. You showed us what a woman can do.

Cher, you are the only artist to have a number one single
On the Billboard charts in six consecutive decades.
Your philanthropic efforts and social activism
Are icing on the cake that is you, Cher.

Just Doing My Home Economics

JUST DOING MY HOME ECONOMICS

In four (4) years another USA presidential election will come, but…
I am not trying to get rid of Donald John Trump.
He seems to have hell to confront.
Isn’t it awesome thing to see his children as his backbone?
If he wins again, that is super awesome because he will have fulfilled his promises…
Of bringing jobs back to the USA
Of wiping out Islamic terrorism of today
And, of giving greater liberty to our freedoms in place.

Donald J. Trump probably is an H.W.
That is George H.W. Bush.
One (1) term he possessed as President.
This is where a pattern manifested.

First, Reagan served two (2) consecutive terms (8 years) and was Republican.
George H.W. served only 1 term and is Republican.
Then came a Democrat.
Bill Clinton served eight (8) years.
Next came George W. Bush (H.W. son) served 2 consecutive terms.
This is where the pattern flops.
Why, well the next President should have been John McCann; however, Barack Obama, a Democrat, took the reign.
Everything went haywire from here because a generation should have ended.

In this, since Donald J. Trump is a Republican, the pattern revives to an H.W. where…
Republican (2 consecutive terms), Republican (1 consecutive term), Democrat (2 consecutive terms), Republican (2 consecutive terms), Democrat (2 consecutive terms) – should have been Republican but was a Democrat (2 consecutive terms) …
Republican is now the sitting President, which patterns sways to George H.W. Bush if he serves one (1) consecutive term as Commander and Chief.
If Donald J. Trump serves more than one consecutive term, the pattern ends and George H.W Bush is no more part of the equation.
Donald J. Trump has replaced Ronald Reagan.
A new pattern begins where government and history intermingles and is watched for deciphering.

Thanksgiving

One of America’s most treasured holiday and tradition is known as the celebration of Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving a plentiful feast of food and a gathering of friends and family a holiday began as a feast in the beginning days of Americans is one of the most celebrated traditions .To some thanksgiving is just another holiday that is unimportant just another reminder that Christmas is just around the calendar .Just a day off of work or school ,a tradition passed on over the years, commonly excuse to over eat , an occasion that is between two months ,November the 4th Thursday and October the 2nd Monday for Canadians .
But in November 1621 ,after the pilgrims first harvest the Governor William Bradford established a feast and invited a group of the Native American allies .Now remembered as the “first Thanksgiving “ by Americans even though the pilgrims used this terms to describe the feast it was held for three consecutive days .Even though there isn’t a known historic banquet menu of there was record of that several of the Wampanoag guests arrived Bearing five dear by Edward Winslow who wrote in his journal .Also Many Historians suggest that many of the meals were served in traditional Native American spices and cooking methods . Because none of the pilgrims had oven and the Mayflower sugar supply had dwindled there was not the modern day traditional that featured pies, cakes and other desserts .The celebration of Thanksgiving has never changed through the year weather your nationality or faith background it is always been a time to express the thankfulness of family Thanksgiving is the day to reunite with family and feast upon food.
There are many traditions that come with thanksgiving but one that is know over all of America is the food. This tradition is know by many households is that many families struggle to finish out the thanksgiving without having a Ham or turkey on thanksgiving . Also many us have all heard you cant have a turkey day with football, Not every family in America makes football a part of their tradition but the most do .This could range form watching the game to having a little fun playing a game outside .
But you cant forget the essence of thankfulness this can be saying a prayer of thanks to the family gathering to tell what there most thankful for and There are many ways that this can be expressed.

Whose fault is it
Who's to blame
must it all be ME
only me...

Yes, I have my mistakes
I admitted, didn't I?

Childish ways
Decision sways
Unplanned mistakes
Consequences shake

Didn't mean to,
don't you believe?
consecutive days
dotted months
yearlong vents..

I made you cry
 and so I too cried.
I put you to shame
 And so I was too.
I failed you
 and so myself too.

But..
they are all in the past.
The past.
Won't you learn to let go of them?
[Just I am learning to forget and forego]

However..
If you want to stay there
Spare me.. Don't drag me there.

Simple as I want my peace
I want to move on...
Just to move on...

Do understand this.

Doesn't matter if you will never like me
 I won't push you
 I won't force you
 I won't please you

This never be to be proud
 nor am I bragging
nor am I too hard headed.

I just want to discover ME.
 not from your mold
 not from your dictation
 not by force
 not anymore in anyone's shadow

Don't insist.

But just me
so...
If you do care
If you do love me
Let me be..

The Ole' Ballfield

patented genuine leather gloves
captivating our boyhood heroes
those same gloves flailing about
towards fly's we were supposed to catch

a glowing white ball with red thread
that begged to be rocketed into orbit
we dreamed of such heroics
pleaded to the God's for the power
most times we flailed there too

it was a tiny aspirin
that evaded mammoth sticks
eagle-eyed trembling lads tried and tried
at least three consecutive times
before retreating with lowered heads
and yet we swore we'd return
with vengeance upon our hearts

there were parents, encouraging
some hopelessly, others with zest
each and every ball pitched
held a lifetime of recollection to come
hopes that immortality would strike
inhale, swing....exhale, next

one by one we took our turn
learning life, the struggles, the joys
suckling each moment with precious breath
tomorrow didn't matter, this was the day
contact, wood upon a now scuffed ball
foulball the ump screamed!
a delightful sound
for it meant success
no matter how miniscule
clapping, smiles broad as the horizon
shoulder slaps, that a boy!

proud parents boasted
picnics were planned
even the diamond itself sparkled
it lived for moments such as these
ah the stories held within those fences

Part 2

thirty five years have gone by
our "field of dreams" now a grave site
ironic that coach Lou resides at homeplate
his stone reads "We lent him boys,
He returned young men"
a great tribute to his dedication
and love for the game

the grave yard littered with former players
however the mound lies bare
no hill, nor stone
only my own precious memories
one day, I shall play again.............

Our Football Team

We were talented
team.
Our success flowed
like stream.
We were the best
playersof the
highest layers.
We were paid the
highest
for we're thought to
beat the toughest.
We were the most
respectful.
In us everyone is
hopeful.
We were very
popular.
We had no similar.

But anything that
started with proud,
it's shameful fall
sounds aloud.
We were clothed by
shame,
when our fans put
us at blame.
We failed many
consecutive times
without our well
wishers feeling our
rhymes.
With our jearsy we
covered our face'.
No one stood in our
place.
We bitterly wept in
pain
like a woman to be
slain'.

Anything that have
beginning
must have an ending.
Any day that had
morning
must equally have
evening.
After retreat on our
dignity,
we cooperated with
absolute humility.
Players obeyed the
headcoach.
Coach respect
player's approach.
Then we,with myraid
fans lifted up
a golden
championship cup.

“Bookkeeper” is the only word in the english language
That has three consecutive double letters
So the next time you're at a party and ask this question
You'll be crowned “Best Trivia Player” ever!

Did you know there are as many chickens on earth
As the number of human beings
This one blew my mind and will surely blow yours
Each day, 75 acres of pizza are eaten

Our eyes are the same size as the day we are born
But our nose and ears don't stop growing
Bet you've never heard about this amazing fact
Under black light, a cat's urine is glowing

A healthy, individual laughs about five times a day
Did you know, “bananas grow pointing up!”
I've heard that bamboo can grows three feet a day
Never stick bamboo up your nose or your butt

The Statue of Liberty's fingers are eight feet long
That's quite amazing for picking her nose
Imagine the size of her ginormous large nostrils
Could probably drive a truck in there if you chose

Did you know that humans average 4,800 words a day
My mother-in-law can beat that no problem
During a full moon, she can speak two words at a time
Some days three but that's not quite as common

Amazing stuff!!!

Premium Member The Trash Heap

Note: All lines in this heap are from failed sonnets that I tried to stack without having any two consecutive lines come from the same poem. I had to break the rule twice. It was nice to find a use for this trash, though. I'm sure a few can relate:

Often I think of how the canyon laughs,
what jokes, I muse, would free stuffy stockades?
And if the sheep had herded men with staffs,
would darkness come out, not into the caves?

What lambs or sheep use cripples just for skin,
to drape within the light from early day,
From their helium balloon canyon’s den,
How would they know if tides were high to stay?

Of milk lavender tulips, though, I flow,
as satin lace in leather stirrups through,
The march I may in august do in snow,
for hell has frozen over, don’t you know?

Yesterday, even, on my t.v. screen,
I saw a child wearing a shirt that said:
“Help save the volta, doubles have been seen,
Terrible truths of one that two are dead!”

So sink and seize this season's silliness,
who does her hair while wielding a sword,
unspoken are the kisses between us.
when prayers pray for want of loving lords;

Yet, my own veins feel lighter they do,
she cuts at skin but doesn’t say good bye,
I’ll tell you this, that it doesn’t do you,
hand me the Kleenex, someone spit in thine eye!

I was in love and now I’m still in love,
but she, or you, you spin me crazy love!

But then, I breathe, as canyons laugh at me,
What? Laugh at these! I hope you stay thirsty!

40th Marathon For 70 Year Old

40th Marathon For 70 Year Old

Almost in disbelief, I reread the headline of this one particular online piece of news….
A 72-year-old Retiree Just Ran His 40th New York Marathon, screams the title of this news…

Reading on, Dave Obelkevich, he has done the most consecutive New York City Marathons…
For his 40th milestone run, he professed his training has been less than ideal ahead of this marathon..

For this sprightly distance runner, even a hamstring injury and a calf injury were no deterrent…
He aims to again complete the world’s largest race, this hugely popular New York Marathon run..

“I won’t run fast but I know I can finish”, he simply declares soundly his mission in this latest marathon…
Being realistic, he hopes only to finish within a set time to extend his streak of finishing marathons……

The visuals that backed up this news article showed runners amassed in numbers, nothing fake…
Of all shapes and sizes, the news article did state, runners local and foreign, they are here to participate.

Smiles aplenty, hands waving and high fives were in ample evidence of how times have changed…
From little band of dedicated runners to one of a huge big family of athletes and of amateurs….

Reading on, Mr Dave kindly elaborated, today the runners are in running more for the finish…
A great many more are there just to be in the running, never mind how you finish, so long as you finish…

I could feel the exhilaration and the stupefying elation of a successful run should I be there to finish…
I should think the exhaustion pales in comparison to the euphoric sensations when the run is finished..…

After 40 marathons and miles after miles of pounding the tarmac, Mr Dave is still a sensation…
With his spirit, zest and thirst for marathon runs yet unquenched, he awaits for the next edition..

How I wish one fine day, I too can meet Mr Dave the Marathon veteran of 40 New York Marathons…
Like he said, everyone wish to be there and to take in the sights while running the NY Marathon…

I know I will not be able to keep up with such a running veteran, never mind his ageing years…..
But just to run beside such a veteran over a distance, wow, what a privilege to be there….

Just a tribute to a genuine running man
