 From the moment we met
he'd treated me like a princess
I was young and naive
flattered by his attention,
misinterpreting it as a forever love

Mum took an instant dislike to him
She said he was like a chameleon
and I should be wary of his dark side
but I was too loved up to listen or too much in love
In fact, it only made me want him more

Within a month
I'd moved into his flat
Swapping girly nights out
for cosy nights by a blazing fire
He revamped my wardrobe
threw out my sexy dresses
preferring me to wear jeans

Mum used to ring me
but he told me to ignore her
said she wanted to split us up
I deleted her number from my phone
Friends stopped calling me
I always said I was too busy

One night I burned the pizza
and he went ballistic
A black rage engulfed him
His eyes flashed as dark as coals
and his fists pummeled me
like a volley of cannon balls
Vivid, violet bruising covered my body
He couldn’t see the scars in my heart
and I doubt if he'd have cared

He begged for forgiveness,
said it would never happen again
Like a fool I believed him
I even blamed myself for ruining dinner
Next morning, I put on a long-sleeved blouse
painted on a smile and went to work

It was then the cycle of abuse began
Verbally, he’d fly into a rage
sometimes over the slightest thing
Then, physically which ended up
with him using me like a punching bag
One night, he went too far
grabbed a hammer and beat me
neighbours heard my screams
and alerted the police …

Hours later, I woke up in intensive care
Mum was sitting by my side
a look of sadness in her eyes
instead of one that implied, "I told you so"
I only wish I had listened to her

How: Coercive Persuasion, Mind Abuse, Thought Control, Or Thought Reform

you took away
my right to scream
and now i sit an await
my impending doom

you followed me around today
play acting out your words so carefully

I wonder how it feels for you
to act so mentally insane
is this, ok with you?

do i blame it on your bewitching eye color
do i blame it on your dubious blood line
do i blame it on your funny rich man's dirty money
I really could not say

was i hurt by, your actions
HELL, Yes!
but i still remained the same

I did not say one word
or act out in pain
and silence give me no comfort
for you would just have
won at your only game!

no black woman
should have to bare
a lack of justice
this just does not seem fare

Silenced voices, feared by those in power.
Utopia sought, only dystopia flowers.
Protect all speech, diverse and free.
Perception leads to a society that is truly.
Redeemed expression, a beacon bright.
Escorting us through the darkest nights.
Silenced speech, we've lost our way.
Shaping the fascists we sought to slay.

Premium Member Some lie

Some lie to the undecided
Disguise what they believe
Utopia is ahead, so it's easy to deceive

Some lie to themselves
To avoid facing glaring flaws
And the contradictions of their cause

Some lie to the faithful,
To make them hate more,
They stir up the fire, then walk out the door

Some lie to the lost ones,
With a hand on their back,
The more cannon fodder for the attack.

Some lie because they think
the truth could make you ignite
Do you want condescension or to know what is right?

It's a jungle out there
Between what's false and what's true
If it feels wrong, pursue every clue.
If it feels right, still truth pursue.

Coercive Control

I'll cuddle the dog before going to sleep
My mind ready for the scrap heap
I'm over tired and overwrought
Numb of body and numb of thought
The running thread, if there is one
Is that I can easily become undone
I was the neglected child, am the unloved adult
Do I need to reflect, say I'm at fault
I'll stand my ground before I drown
Fear I'll never get up if I fall down
I can't accept the things you say
And for that, there's a price I'll pay
I'll walk the long road alone
Never to feel I have a welcome home
The flawed person too full of doubt
It's myself I'd gladly live without
Reflecting on my life and things I've been through
I saddened I spent so long not being loved by you
The tick list of 'making it' so proudly in place
As I sit, so alone, in an empty space
Nothing I do changes anything
No different aspect I can bring
All that is asked of me is to fall on my sword
Create some false sense of accord
Wearing away my sense of worth and sense of self
A heart ache that affects my health
The blame doesn't rest at your door
I am broken now and was broken before
I should surround myself with those that see me in the light
You too, I have no will to fight
So stop telling me I can't justify my view
What I can't justify is listening to you
If you don't like me and don't see my worth
Then I need to put my inner self first
I'm drained now and need to rest
There have been too many things sent to test
I'm safe just sitting in a void of time
I recognise someday both you and I will be once again fine

Non-Coercive World

Non-Coercive World

'Liberty', your name on every tongue.
Your lips carry the Call of all-along...
From deep within our breast,
Wherein our thoughts do rest...
And percolate in solitude,
Above the teaming multitude...
Exhorting us to become ourselves;
To go deep within- shun the shop shelves...
So that our Being is of our own choice,
So it reverberates in a distinct and clear voice...
So our actions, under our own sure command,
Remain clear of consciences austere reprimand...
'Liberty', let your name not merely be on our tongue,
Or the flag behind the barrels of a thousand guns...
Or the poppies over the fields of Afghanistan,
Or the whalers around the seas of Japan...
Nay: but let each man become his own child,
In a non-coercive world, of mad mercy mild...
