Hey Little One

Hey little one with such golden hair
let’s play the whole day through
find a swing and touch the sky
pretend we are brave tigers on the prowl
riding your magic carpet

You start every day on the run
count ants among your best friends
and wonder where they sleep at night
smelling every sunflower tip-toe high
your big sister is your hero every day

For you everyone deserves a second chance
to join in your strawberry dance
don’t understand no in any way
whispering your silent secrets to Mr Teddy Bear
knowing he understands every word

Sleep safely for tonight you fly with Peter Pan
dancing with Tinker-Bell across never-never land
your treasure chest full of joy and laughter
listening intently to nightly fairy tales
believing every story totally true…again and again

You dare dragons to play hide and seek
charming the world with a wink and a smile
so unconcerned with tomorrow
racing the wind you are the master of your day
I wish the world could be more like you

IRISH

Tomorrow Please Be Yesterday

Idyllic time when I was born
The world was soft the world was warm
Gentle breezes combed our hair
Nature’s wonders were everywhere
The trees and seas and fields of grain
The soft caresses of the rain
Yes I had the measles, mumps and such
But truth be known they weren’t so much
Mothers love the soothing cure it was kind it was sure
Sugar diabetes we never knew (until adulthood I never knew of one case)
For most of my life I swear that’s true
ADHD no chemical tools our Fathers cured it or we were fools
Pandemic illness oh they exist
Created sadly by man’s assist
However none point out the truth
The worst virus we’ll ever see
Out of control population will kill us sure
Hear them knocking at our door
I hate to tell them there is no more…boy are they mad

A Real Life

I marvel at how attentive you are,
With your little ballerina feet kicking
As the movie flicks and the real rolls.
Your mouth catching flies; coke stained,
Discarded popcorn prompts a world to life.

In here we are safe.
And yet my love, my Principessa,
How I long to tell you otherwise of out there,
Beyond the screen, exists no cuddly bear to greet you,
No princess to set free; nor happy ever after.

To break this now, well, would be a death for both of us
When there is so much happiness before,
Yes, in watching your eyes hop and skip
To every scene and sound moves a response in you.
How this touches me and holds me back.

Like death, the end comes in here too.
There is no interval to hold it off.
The big screen gives out and lights, in due time,
Descend on us like vultures.
Picking and pecking our backs until we leave.

At least for now, we have an hour or so
Before the film, like life, rolls out
It's blank black curtain,
Before the long thin man at the end of the isle,
Blinds us with his spot light of exits and great escapes.

Just then, I imagine, I will have to drag you out of here
Screaming, like every father does -
Wishing that the world would take over
And welcome you on stage with rapturous applause;
Throws flowers occasionally.

Instead, the world is dark
And old with love gone off.
There is no one telling us different.
Except for a distant cry
Of a world we lost, beckons us back.

Time.

my world moves fast,
but i find my self slowing down,
some friends i thought would last,
thats all a part of my past.
for there is somethin i found.
i relize the world goes around.
oh as i sake,
most people were fake.
so why do i cry,
for in another eye,
i suld be happy,
but thats a lie.
so i go to this place,
its not bought,
its not a rental,
fo ts mental.
its in my head
and thats all she said.............

Special Me

That day
the special day this world
was priviledged to
welcome the birth of a
beautiful baby
like the sun which never
shone
its rays spread through
all the earth
the rains which never
poured out gave
showers of blessing
every creation joined in
the celebration
the birds flew higher
than usual
angels of the heavens
echoed their voices to
every corner of the
earth
that was the day
this world was given the
honour of welcoming the
special baby to love and
be love
the special birth
my birth

Idle Lamentations

Idle lamentations for the brackish days of youth when the mystic thought queried upon
green or grey as a childhood day.
When horrific forces churned away at the mold and turned a sweetened lad from gilded to
beguiled.
When the touch of the cruel master bent wood upon the ears of innocence, when it’s
underling laid its phallic touch upon unspent youth and twisted the being, confuting love
for darker ambitions.
There came a release from the imposition of unwanted instruction, yet there had been no
guidance in the world so how could adolescence behave?
Would you have been there had you known?
Creation came of a twisted future relying on the teachings of the dark and clouded days,
when the rest of the world looked down upon the performance of the one who longed for
acceptance.
Now came the companionship longing to be proven right, ‘how could this be?’ they cried and
again plunged youth into darkness, not offering guidance accepting only compliance.
Again, the darkness passed, the light shone, and youth rose like a seed alone and untended
to become the flower it had been born to be.
‘ I will not break in the breeze, I will outlive the darkness and create none more’, was
cried.
So the twisting of souls and fates were refrained to this very day, where one verse at a
time begins to precipitate.

The Bridge of Canterbury

That bridge hanging precariously
  Across the threatening gulf
Was the only escape to mortality
                   For we were safe then
Playing in the litter under it
Without the pretense of being
What others expected us to be
Living at the bottom of the social scale
Top and brimming with humanity
                    Innocense ... joy ... trust
Screening those
With polite smile
And eyes shadowed by fear
Or something more toxic to us

             The scorn we wore
                 Poorly clad
in the rags of their appreciation
                     That we were children
Fallen through the holes and cracks
In their gift of a poor world
Innocent of decadent boundaries ... and yet
Brimming like a fountain with promises
Springing lilac blossoms in our dreams
                            ... Another bridge
Different and precarious to cross
Because of all the rules and boundaries
Tha anxiety laden with false histories
                     The violated truth of memories

                                 This bridge like hope
Thrown across a precipice deluged with floods
Our feet on the tight rope
Burning with desire
I remember us screaming against belief
To rinse the world with joy
Playing under rusted truss and pitted wood
Where the concrete flaked its crust
Posing a danger we never understood.
Yet so much, ponderous with the weight
Of all we became, almost unexpectantly, got across
                               Where we stretched our souls
So the world could survive ... leeching us still.

My Image

Just Like we were made in God's image
I believe he was made in mine
time is of the essence, and ever since
he was brought into this world
I been giving him something
I never had, a dad
and like all children we all make mistakes
so he's gonna be looking to me
to teach and distinguish real from fake
love from hate fact from fiction
true love from lust deception
and unjust from loyalty and trust
and if your gonna be anything successful
in this world education is a must
no one said it was easy, but
remember this anyone can give
a speech, what makes you great
is the audience that you reach
this world isn't what it's all
cracked up to be, and trust me
we're still fighting for freedom
because honestly it's still not free
your father was made in God's image
so, imma teach you how to walk like me
now you don't have to be like me
I want you to leave your own mark in life
so I leave with you life is what you make it
nevermind the roll of the dice

Premium Member Hannah's World

Fair is the world where Hannah lives;
No woes that can't be kissed away.
Cushioned by arms of selfless love,
She dwells in beauty day by day.

Her slightest wish is a command.
She wears her queenly crown with poise,
Innocent and quite unaware
There are less favored girls and boys.

Too soon, too soon to let her know
There is another world than this.
Her subjects vie to bring her joy,
Their only fee, a smile or kiss.

Warnings and lessons must be taught,
A world of troubles to be met.
We look into her trusting eyes
And cannot bear to tell her yet.

The time will come she must be told
Of dangers lurking everywhere,
But for this while we hold her close,
Blessed in her perfect world to share.
