Premium Member My Interpretation of If By Rudyard Kipling

If you can keep calm when all around you,
Are frustrated, and angry with you,
Always believe in yourself, and be true,
Don’t be too proud, be positive with others too,
All good things come to those who wait,
Don’t ever listen to lies, that’s a fact,
Try to avoid being hated, don’t ever hate,
Do not show off, and from yourself distract.

Dream, but do not let dreams absorb you,
Put all to thought, and exercise this through,
If you succeed, become befallen too,
And meet these dire opposites at their game,
Stand up to truths that you believe in,
They know not what they speak, they only shame,
So jealous of your hard earnings, a twin to sin,
They try to mimic, to no avail, they do not gain.

Put all you have achieved to one side,
Knowing who you are, believe in do or die,
You might lose, begin again, with it abide,
Tell no one of any loss, reach for the sky,
If you can use your strength, and soul,
To carry on, as grace helps you to become whole,
And try everything within, to reach your goal,
Tell them I’ll carry on, not dig myself a hole.

If you speak with others, to thy self be true,
Be proud, never lose sight of who you are,
If friend or foes have no ability to scar,
If they agree with what you say, but not with all,
Be forgiving, don’t think you're better, and then fall,
If all you say is sound within sixty seconds,
You have achieved your worth, which always beckons,
And - indeed more - you’ll be a man my son!

Class Reunion

Fifty-year class reunions are stricken with sadness:
Former classmates falling apart before my eyes.
Jane uses a walker, and Stan exhibits madness.
Wages of age foreshadow classmates’ demise.

In youth’s green age I could not fathom this,
A time when peers would be withered and worn.
How I wonder could life have gone so amiss?
Surveying the scene, my heart is heavy, torn.

I give proud thanks that I’m not like the others,
Having been spared of time’s toxic touches.
“But what has befallen my sisters and brothers?”
I ponder the question as I reach for my crutches.

Shattering Hopes

My wrapper loose day after day
My motion and emotion unstable
I forget to think
But I wasn’t drunk

I remember in a trance
Stable I was
My wrapper tight on my torso
Not divulging the firm breasts

I remember vividly when it began to loose
Days turned nights
The sun withheld its radiance
I mourned unending

Breasts tumor I had
Oh! The pain hurts
One more ill has befallen me
A spinster at 50

Severally dumped I was
By men on trial
The life I live was wreaked
My heart fell apart

Picking up the fossils
Amidst courage and optimism
Dreadful incidence I traversed
Since my birth, early 60’s

Aargh! I’m bigoted
But utmost myopic
I wasn’t sleeping
Merely a spinster’s vision

When at 52
Men on trial returned
I had miscarriages
Pains were inflicted

53, I would be
The wrapper has slipped off
Revealing the sagging breasts
My legacy is gone

I’ve missed my menses
I’ve wept all day
I pled against miscarriage
But all hope is not lost
Because I’m pregnant!

The Tear I Abhor

Tension crawls into the pores of crashing contemplation
Why has it become so hard to breathe?
If only it was known what this dejected heart is saying
As she sobs poetic lines of wordless woe
She is cradled in the tempo tempest of this reflection
Pulsing in the unfeeling land beyond her bodily home
The blood pumping sweet iron grief spurts
The soles of the feet throb at the impact
As the grass cools only to recall the coldness of the present

The impact…
Of a tear falling to the floor
The droplet so gentle… in clear-watered, grounded rapture
The energy of the sorrow befallen is perilous
One with many roads leading to frail fantasy
Aggravated tear…so atrocious, envious
There is something more whirling in this déjà vu cycle

Being crushed many times
By lackadaisical, ever-traveling minds
It is too easy to be tossed to and fro
Between conscious leisure and provocative pressure
 Sub-dominated by sumptuous conviction
That word—love—a furtive dagger
Driving a gaping hole of shame and unknowing
Straight into her
Wracking around in this meddle
Of emotion and reason—shooting up falsehood full throttle
Drifting there again
In a solitude almost consoled by the earthy coldness
Of his fowl glare…
Every unsaid word frazzling to the mind
Tearing me and lifting me high
One must wonder if you watch as the fragments fly

As they float for only a few seconds
Of your precious time
And fall back down below
At your very feet
Where the grass is warm, and hopes are high

Please don’t leave them on the floor with the tear
The tear that never quite gets absorbed
The tear that chillingly consoles that bleeding heart
Destroying me
As she thrashes in the maze of bones and matter
Each hollow pathway of the marrow leading to a dead end
Or an ever-winding way downwards

They say each body of water leads straight to the sea
Where will the tear I abhor…lead me?

Premium Member Adventures In Neverland

The reasoning has befallen, on a rock she now prays
Dark cobalt blue tides, like counters, our end of days
Wildlife in sporadic, escaping to not
Whilst a sky filled abyss, shall stop the clock

Angelic she sits, in wonderment of her see
Knowing what lies ahead, adventures in neverland will be
Our past has finally caught, in we, we under-find
Neighbours have become our enemies, no friends of mine

We now await the others, the omega point we await
Staring at the glass half, to freedoms departure gate
In-trepidation walk, knowing that our steps
Like footsteps in the sands, eternally are reft

Continually we look back, to a place we know we were
The memories of all off us now instantly a blur
As we focus on the angel, consumed before our eyes
Me a man amongst what's left, in tear laden cry

Threnody now holds us, elevates our screams
As we watch the children talk, other-worlds they now dream
Hyper-drive is called, forced back as we sit
Amidst forests of hands and teeth, are humans in acquit

Continually we look back, to a place we know we were
The memories of all off us now instantly a blur
As we focus on the angel, consumed before our eyes
We face adventures in neverland, what's left of us we try

That Day, Life Crushed

I was resting on a lake dock that was in deep decay
it ran fifty yards out into the seamless water
that day my baby brother had went to swim with his friends
a normal summer day that shone with splendor
and peaceful was the soft blowing wind
only fate was awake and moving ever forward.

There I was in peaceful solitude , resting
gazing at the lapping waves as they spoke
ignorant of what had taken place only moments before
the passing of a young and promising life, my brother.

Sun still beamed, wind still blew and life changed
a truck came racing across the bridge
I saw my best friend waving at me franticly
then I heard, I knew tragedy had befallen somebody
somebody I loved dearly.

Moments later, the force of truth crushed me into a ball
it was as I feared, a death, an unimaginable horror
my baby brother was dead, my fourteen year old baby brother
gone, gone , gone!

Electric current had destroyed his life
destroyed my life, sent me into a seven year rage
I said my goodbyes in a quiet rage and vowed that God,
God would pay for this!
And so it began a terrible journey into a dark abyss
one that consumed and slowly ate my soul
my soul it ate with relish and glee.

I became a punisher of God!
Yes, such misery did I heap out by the bucket
by the ton and ate it's glory until-
Seven years later, light came into me as I slept
I woke one morning to find that the one punished was ME!
God had told me but I refused to hear
Now I heard and that truth crushed me again!

The road back took time but seven long years was over!
life returned, joy returned!
Majestic love returned to reclaim it's treasure-- my soul!

My soul rejoices to this day,
this day I see God stayed with me as I ran away!

I, he that runs no MORE!

Robert J. Lindley 06-30-2014

My first ever write about my brother, Billy Joe Lindley
fourteen year old and the girls adored him,
that summer electrocuted by a faulty electric pump at a
friend's house by the river.
1976, I think about him every day since, he was an angel compared
to me and why, why did I live!

Were I to swim to the edge of the sea,
what splendid scene should await for me?
Would I behold the legendary town
with glittering brick roads and king’s famed crown?

Could I uncover the truth in the seed,
win a place in the king’s absolute creed?
Anoint my body, in sticky sap drown,
paddle to Guatavita and dive down.

Arise from the waters clean as a bead,
to the fest of El Dorado I’d lead.
No other exists so gilded, hands down,
an existence of gold — building and gown.

I’d join with the Muiscan folk, indeed
take up residence and full life proceed
to build again a foundation so sound
that none could purloin the gold around.

World befallen by avarice and greed,
best forgotten I hardily accede.
To such golden place without up or down
I’d ever exist in paradise found.

My Prayer For the World

my prayer for the world
am a part of humans
living in a planet called earth
we were once blessed
but now this blessing
has turn curse
the world no longer rotates
in a good shape
cos those from the powers
of darkness
are reshaping the world
destroying our nature
and killing our minds
so I pray oh God protect
the world

my prayer for the world
oh God protect the innocent
from the bad scientists
protect our young from mental
slavery
protect our women
from the hunger of money
protect our air from
evil pollution
is obvious those in power
are not our saviour
is obvious that our intellectuals
our most creative minds
are truly corrupt
even our technology bleeds
radiation to destroy our nature
nothing sims save any more
oh God
so I pray protect the innocent
in a world of destruction oh God

my prayer for the world
destruction I see
invading the world
it is growing oh God
while the so many are asleep
comfortable accepting that
which kills them
gladly adoring the ones
who in slaves them
openly praising the works
of evil
oh God what a world
a world were we are made
just to follow
who ever ask questions
look strange
in a strange world itself
so always I pray oh God
protect the innocent in a
world of destruction

my prayer for the world
open up the inner eye
of the innocent oh God
cos they really need to see
were the devil is leading
the world to
open up the minds of many
oh God
to understand the level of
the evil gravities of devilish lies
that has befallen us in this world
cos the time of redemption is now
we need to be free from fears
so I pray oh God protect the
innocent
guide their part in this world of
destruction

Lost Souls

Scream if you must
But know it is only the two of us in this emptiness
And if my words lack trust
Understand humanity is marked by ignorance.

Am I beautiful?
Do I seem like I deserve loneliness?
Like depression would ever find comfort in such celestial beauty?
Do you question my presence in this ugliness?

For in your eyes I'm too beautiful
Like a star for it only belongs in the constellations
Along with a numerous number of other blue white painted stars
Is it not so?
And yet the same fate has befallen us.

Darling I am but a facade
For my Visage is as broken as the world
For my soul is either black nor white
And this heart has holes deeper than any abyss an empty soul can mend.

You see I have walked where only beasts trod
Where souls are damned and where gods fought
And yet in the destruction of it all
I still can't find myself
A lost soul lost to eternity and paused time
And so I found it beautiful and alluring to give in to the darkness right in front of me.

But you're just like me
The roots as well as the tree
There's no earth willing
Not a soul so forgiving
And no God in this oblivion
Yet we hope in astonishment for miracle healing...
That our cuts and bruises would seize to exist
And our desire for death would evaporate and seize to persist.

But we found each other where souls meet
It can only mean the despair
Our desire to quell our thirst done its deed.

Oh the sham and serious shake,
  Earthen crust erases land.
Upset moon mourns its men.
Uplift of craven shore and ben.
O the Winter its downer tanned.

Of creature great and downy lost,
  The surgeon’s fissure quite abrupt.
The baby’s tears from the bright sun -
Befallen stars say it is done.
   The crude ovalis corrupt.

One moment she was there and the next she was gone
like the wind when it blows through the eaves,
one moment she was there and the next, she was not

The year was 1976 graduation day sweethearts
her cheeks glowed softly, picking up the undertones
of her second hand Fortrel peach dress
she birthed magic in my soul as easily as a wizard
holding and elder wand of great value

Onwards to the year 2044, she flatlines in a cold room
one January snowfall day like a silent befallen Angel,
she succumbs to the light like a feather floating
amongst the motes of a broken man's heart,
a tiny feather floats down, it is all she leaves behind...

Tuesday March 06 no birthday candles this year
inside the old dusty attic sits an easel and a brush
his trembling hands begin to paint a memory
while the dawn softly skirts the reasserting sun,
each new brushstroke brings her back to life

One moment she isn't there and the next she is,
just like the wind when it blows through the eaves.

National Irony

NATIONAL IRONY

All hail the giant of Africa,
Giant of bribery and corruption
Giant of poverty and wailing
Giant in the face of frustration
and hunger.
What Giant is in the soul of Tyrant?

'We are here to serve the masses'
But they serve their personal interest
and enrich thief selfish pocket.
Your money is soaked with the
bitter tears of the poor!

'A descent life for all '
But they impoverish our helpless heart,
Look unto our street and see thousands of descent citizen.

'Health care service for all'
But they refuse to honour the
pulse of medical practitioner,
They cause falseful close down
of our health centers.
Their promise should have been fulfilled
If only we have vaccines in our
hospitals not even an atom of antibiotics.

'Police is your friend, Bail is free'
Why are innocents going through
the pain of the crime they commit not?
But your falseful fine could feed
a whole nation three times.

'Kick against indiscipline K.A.I'
But they kick against public fund,
Kicked against human right,
Kicked against our democracy,
Kicked against National growth.

'Security For all'
But they loot our defence money
They cause 'Boko' to waste life's
Your actions caused our abducted
Skirt homeless and hopeless.

'Equality before the law'
Why are you depriving good
standard of living from us?
You steal trillions of money
to impoverish your brothers
and sisters of the soil.

'Reduce the rate of poverty'
But your policies leads to inflation
We Now wear rag for cloth
While your clothing allowance
can shelter thousand heads.

'Reduce crime rate'
But look into our schools,
cultism is highly ubiquitous
Graduate turn robbers,
Kidnaping here and there
All happened due to your
actions and inaction.

I don't know where the future
of this country is moving to,
Everything is now getting worst
'Things are now falling apart'
Whose fault is it that such
has befallen us?

The Last Poem, Translation of a Composition of Rabindranath Tagore

Have you heard the symphony, the voyage of an eternal time?

Its Chariot is the swiftest one, gone soon, gone long

Beating hearts touch the innermost mind

Darkness. wrapped in encircled mourning, befallen with the fallen, starlight.

O My Friend !

That nomadic time, a traveler one

Engulfed me again, with her embracing vest of time

Took me to her gypsy churn,

A quest toward an intrepid one.

Farther and farther away from yours.

It seems only in mind, that I escaped death

Happening in a thousand more times.

Today, the new dawn with the mountain-peak

Where , the chariot left a trace of agitated wind blower speed

With my older name.

There is no turning back

If you ponder from a distance, looking back

you will not find me as one you knew too close.

I bid you farewell, My friend!

Premium Member Above the Clouds

I reverie to rise above the clouds,
where eagles soar great mountain high.
To peer upon the large cold city crowds,
where the befallen angels calmly lie.

Turmoil and darkness traps the crowds below,
vile deeds draw quick my sadness out to cry.
Not knowing who is friendly or a foe,
where the befallen angels calmly lie.

When all is done and I shall turn to rest,
vile deeds draw quick my sadness out to cry.
And heavenly blue skies will last attest,
where the befallen angels calmly lie.

I reverie to rise above the clouds,
where the befallen angels calmly lie.

Dare To Dream

Dimmed and crestfallen
You object for the vices!
Your trimmed hopes
Your dampened spirits
See what has befallen you
You played the prey
You braced for the claws

In the grinding grip
An enduring grotesque
A slew of bottlenecks
Verily the grain of misfortunes
You grew pale and sunken
Dejected and conquered
In a fairytale
'Who spelt your doom?

You object of mockery
Drop that flawless skin
That shadow you revered
Unlock that potent self
Enliven your reasons
For life is seasons
Seasons for reasons
Reasons to live for.
