Barracudas Poems

A Smash Hit

A Smash Hit

Two barracudas they came to a clash
And together both their heads did bash;
Not breaking,
But aching;
Entire hit shall end up being a smash.

Jim Horn

To the point it is true a life cut short;
Left those behind he once did support;
Now the only thing that would survive
Memory after we had taken a drive.

At Arlington a tombstone does exist
Of someone who we sorely missed;
Now in heaven where life is better
While I will read his very last letter.

Shaky were his hands I could tell
When he wrote and said all is well
And then early during next dawn;
Love of my meager life away was gone.

Oh my darling where have you been;
Body do exist in a grave in Arlington,
And there with many is where I remain
Who died for our country not in vein.

Written in response to Mike Dailey's
poem about an, "Arlington Tombstone."

Could it be I’m using the wrong bait?
Perhaps what I need is more “a-lure”
To attract and win the perfect mate
My heart stays open, intentions pure

Perhaps what I need is more “a-lure”
I cast my line; only sharks biting
My heart stays open, intentions pure
Swarming in schools; all uninviting

I cast my line; only sharks are biting
Angel fish elude; clown fish giggle
Swarming in schools; all uninviting
I try new bait; nary a nibble

Angel fish elude; clown fish giggle
Barracudas chase dream fish away
I try new bait; nary a nibble
Life swims past as my hair fades to gray

Barracudas chase dream fish away
Murky Water; the future’s unclear
Life swims past as my hair fades to gray
My pulse quickens as sunset draws near

Murky Water; the future's unclear
Would it require a full makeover?
My pulse quickens as sunset draws near
Life sets limits on our do-overs

Would it require a full makeover
To attract and win the perfect mate?
Life sets limits on our do-overs
Could it be I’m using the wrong bait?

The Sharks and the Baracudas

One calm summer night
I visited the city aquarium and
I noticed the sharks and the barracudas
Playing a lovely game of tennis
Yeah, the sharks and
The Barracudas are just
Sitting around eating
Strawberries and drinking tea
How could this be?
The great white shark called out, "the surf is up!" and
The speedy barracuda replied, "fifteen Luv!"
How could this be?
Suddenly, the sharks and the barracudas
Noticed me standing there, and
Standing on the other side
Well, they all agreed,
If you want to learn how to swim with
The sharks and the barracudas,
First, you must learn how to play the game!
Oh, what a lovely sport it is!
Are you from Essex?
Well Its so lovely there, this time of year.
