Helena had always wanted to be a professional hiker more than a bit.
Her parents thought it dangerous, and tried to talk her out of it.
When she was eighteen, she got herself enormous hiking boots.
And proved she could master mountains, bears, tigers and bandicoots.
Her parents were astounded, to them she was just a baby.
She laughed at their consternation and joined the navy.
The navy got her ready to become a guide full time.
She was marching herself all over by age twenty-nine.
A crooked hiking stick, short blue cut-offs and a tiny bird.
Followed her up and down, as she ate strange goat curd.
Helena was an adventurer, an explorer, and a hiker too.
Wearing striped socks, carrying her bed roll, blue.
Her parents backed off when they saw her joy.
She sometimes passed by to yell “ahoy!”
On a pirate ship or a submarine.
She only lingered in their dream.

Lucy lisps, Lucy lisps
Lucy's tongue is in a twist
Saucy Susie sang a song
Silly Susie sang it wrong
Slinky slimy slippery snakes
Hisses kisses to their mates
Stoats stay stoic on the sand
While Willy Wagtail forms a band
Bandicoots break into a simple song
Cos Saucy Susie sang all wrong
Still standing silently in shifting sand
Sarcastic Willy said "Ain't this grand
Someone here sure is silly
And I will tell you something it's not this Willy"
Ding, Dang Dong and Bong, Bam Bing
The band was good, who would sing?
Lucy lisps, Lucy lisps
Said "I'll give it a go, can you play Let's Twist"
PS
So to add to this Lucy lisps The Twist
Then they all recalled
They did it all without a drummer
Last summer

My character seems to be dead
but i am
just away
from keyboard
Shortened time
seems longer
and seconds last for years
Evil lives in residence
The labyrinth brought multiple dooms
Hey was followed by Mario
Sega sang its name
Bandicoots and spinning dragons
Tekken was not mortal
Crashes brought the bonus
and the car theft was grand
and from the silenced hill
the hitman calls his duty
fallout has no creed
and the last of us will stand

Ted’s big toe is covered in fungus
It’s massive, in fact it’s humongus
He can’t fit in his shoes
and he sure gets the blues
as he cannot hang out among us
Ted began to feel very depressed
as barefoot he’s not suitably dressed
So I made him fur boots
From road kill bandicoots
his infection medics have assessed
The medic looked at Ted’s toenail
he pressed it, Ted let out a wail
but the doc didn’t scoff
when the toe nail dropped off
Ted fainted, his face was so pale
Two nurses scooped Ted off the floor
Then they escorted him out of the door
The swollen toe soon went down
And Ted went out on the town
(His manky nail's kept in a locked drawer)
Written in response to a comment was made on my recent POTD. May I suggest if folks don't like my poetry they don't bother to read it or make a comment.

It’s a voluntary widowhood.
Whipped by Neeli’s tongue,
he’s gone to harvest Dirhams*
in Dubai desert – lest the embryo
of their new home won’t grow up.
She’s alone in a temporary shed
behind the basement on the bank.
Indian Postman passes by like her
days flashing ‘No’ with his fingers.
She looks into the distant desert
through the window of nostalgia.
Fear creeps on the walls of her
heart at night - even a Norway rat
becomes a ghost rattling in kitchen.
Years slip into the chasm of past
leaving behind the doldrums on her
countenance. Time partitions her
basement – mongooses, bandicoots
and rats get their shares – holes and
chinks. Now her dreams with streaks
of love have shrunk like her womb.
