Away at the drug store
no condoms I see
I need some protection
to stop pregnancy
My girlfriend’s so horny
wants sex night and day
I’d never refuse her
a roll in the hay!
I’ll purchase some cling film
and some rubber bands
I’ll use these till condoms
are back on the stands.

There was a time
I felt as if life had no meaning
I dangled in between
material things that
awarded me with
temporary joy
And like self satisfaction
it felt good for the
here and now
yet it produced
absolutely nothing
I never learned how
to walk in gratuity
too busy wearing
shoes that led me
down a thankless
road believing this world
owed me something
I lived life ungrateful
but soon I had no choice
but to surrender myself
to humble
Where my ego was
knocked off a soapbox
taking away all what
I thought was mine
Now as I stand
on the front line
of barren
I retraced my steps and
became thankful
Thankful for
Breath
heartbeat
and limbs that move in formation
and eyes wide enough
to watch the moon fall
and the sun rise
I was awarded with
another day
Days that allowed me
to feast until satisfied
Dressed until warm
A place to rest and
welcome slumber
I had no idea how
rich I was until
I lost it all
That's when I discovered
I was now living
in the abyss
of my own gratitude

Awarded An Accolade
Much homage on him had been paid;
Recognition given to with honor laid;
Person desired,
And had hired;
On then awarded another accolade.

Be Awarded a Pulitzer Prize
Why would anyone my poems want to annihilate?
They only contain friendship, humor and no hate
And are designed to meet each and every need
To you many words of knowledge try to feed.
Experiences have often occurred and taken place
And also many times music may have to face
They may either beckon you or then hesitate
What will be nest step to make my poem great?
All of a sudden did feel a desire as it was surging
Was ultimately God Himself who had been urging
Me on to another poem for me to try and create
No longer either putting of or I having to wait.
What I did was write with my heart and soul
Fully aware that for me God's greatest goal
Was provide poets that others would surprise
By ending up being awarded a Pulitzer Prize.

Before I become a poet who is extinct
Want to be one who will be distinct
Also distinguished and loud and clear
Thank God Poetry Soup if finally here.
I woke up without a poem in my head
Now what should I have to do instead
No one out there do I want to offend
Will open Poetry Soup and then pretend.
I wake up each morning and prayer say
God into my mind place a poem today
Sounding as if on a wonderful Wurlitzer
Wanting to win prize called a Pulitzer.
To you, this may sound kind of Germanic
And is no where close to being Hispanic
Careful is what I have just been told
When you leap or reach for the gold.
My clever poetry friends hope you savor
Write many more poems, I will endeavor
While you write poems, won't get in the way
Prefer you be awarded with Poem of the Day.

I see you on stage, accepting your badge
Looking like time erased all definition
From your stodgy face
Sometimes I wonder if you realize
what you've done-
In interviews, always cagey
Mercurial like the days of England
prancing on half-beaten guitars
With a litany of melted stories
We salute you from coast to coast:
A sultan of piercing lyricism
Making time stand still with song.
When nuclear war towered,
Belting out when I die in my footsteps
You are a rare animal trekking
Through a wasteland of fear
When I was a teenager
Crawling through mirrors,
Visions of Johanna blasted my skull
Making a temple for me to grow
Though Mona lisa had the highway blues
I can feel the spine of your voice
As I round early adulthood
Learning the deepest reaches of love,
Speaking like silence
There's no way to catalogue
the impression you've had
So as you stand there on stage
Being hung with the President's medal
Know that you've made an impact
Your life will inspire
Humanity for generations to come
