Premium MemberThis Broom Is My Rifle

~ A Running Joke from Israel's
              War for Independence, 1948 ~

I'm a brave soldier, I defend my land
This broom is my rifle, I guard this sand

I fight for the right to live and not die
To breathe fresh air, under clear blue skies

I'm a brave soldier, I defend my land
This broom is my rifle, I guard this san--

The bushes near me stir. Now I'm scared!
Halt! Halt, I demand! Who goes there?

FRIEND OR FOE? FRIEND OR FOE?
              WHO IS IT THAT GO--

The bushes part! There goes my heart...
     Out comes -- Moshe?!
OMG, Moshe, I almost shot you with my 'rifle'
Not to worry, Avi. I'm an 'armored tank'
~ Thank the good Lord I'm not homicidal!

Note: Israel was so short on weapons in the
War of Independence (1948-49) that soldiers
were actually using hammers, although I
don't think they ever used brooms... Beware
    of 'armored tanks' now! lol.

Premium MemberMojave Token

my first trip to Nevada
drove a car out of town
destination Avi in the Mojave

just the sound of it was music to my ears
I remembered a movie I loved
and that’s where it was set

Mojave… Mojave…
sign showing powwow underway
what incredible luck

the car had barely stopped
I was out and gone
drawn by the drumming afar

making my way through the sand
part way there at my feet
as if beckoning

just there like an offering
a big sandwashed oval stone
perfectly soft

breathtakingly beautiful
incredibly… there waiting for me
nothing like it anywhere in sight

nothing anywhere
bar drumming in the distance
and this one lone treasure

so I picked it
like a lovely ripe fruit
fresh from the Mojave desert

Premium MemberAvi, Oh Avi

Oh Avi, Avi
  Sometimes, with my eyes closed
    I see you dance
      A dervish, whirling, like me
        And I wished
Oh how I wished you would
            pirouette into my arms
              You would hold me
                How I would hold you

                  But my arms and yours
                caught girls, alluring and delicate
              Oh Avi, Avi
            When you laughed
                                          My stomach turned
                             And multi-coloured butterflies
             And small flying kites
danced into the air

     Occasionally you glanced at me
the way I did at you
       I think you did
Oh Avi, Avi
        We were so young
                Just boys, small boys
Thinking about you still
  makes my day smile

             I wheel my chair
        With light rhythmic movements
   Dreaming about a time
  Where I still had dreams
     And you were in them
          With our tights and muscular
               Frames and our *****
             Avi, oh Avi.

You

IVE HAD THIS FEELING FOR A WHILE NOW
SEEING YOU ONLY RECONFIRMS HOW I REALLY FEEL
YOU KNOW HOW IT IS WHEN YOU LOVE WITHOUT QUESTIONING IF ITS REAL
IM TRYING NOT TO RUSH WANNA MAKE YOU MY NEW NEXT THRILL
I THINK I LOVED YOU THE DAY I LAID EYES ON YOUR AVI
WHAT MORE COULD I ASK FOR
YOU LOVED ME UNCONDITIONAL AND EMBRACED EVERY ENCOUNTER I HAD IN LIFE
NOT PERFECT BY FAR BUT YOU ENTERING MY LIFE WAS LIKE ME WISHING ON A STAR
NEVER HAVE I FELT A CONNECTION SO REAL LOOKING IN YOUR EYES I TRY NOT TO
HIDE
I WANNA OPEN UP TO YOU AND LETCHU KNOW ALL MY FEARS AND WANTS
WANNA RELAX AND PLACE MY HEART IN YOUR HANDS NO LONGER PUTTING UP A
FRONT
I WANNA BE THE ONE THAT LOVES YOU TILL MY HEART NO LONGER BEATS
WANNA BE THAT LOVE YOU DREAM OF ONLY IN YOUR SLEEP
WHY DO I FEEL LIKE MY HEART BELONGS TO YOU
YOUR LIKE MY SOULMATE OR MAYBE YOUR LIKE THE PERSON I WANNA SURRENDER TO
YOU HAVE THIS NITCH BOUT YOU AND YOU CARRY YOURSELF SO WELL
I LOVE THE FACT THAT WE BEGAN AS FRIENDS AND NOW TIME WILL TELL

Avi

Sitting solely smiling at sparkling stars,
I'm overjoyed of this overwhelming ocean of emotion,
Novice in nervousness, lost in never-ending nights,
All amidst an accelerating and aching heart.

Lying lost in a lagoon of lyrical leisure,
As onlookers observe my overt obsessions.
I veer towards vivifying my vagaries.
For I am engrossed in embracing exhilarating ecstasies,
Such are the salient seducing signs of this sensation.

Abyssal ardor is accentuated and accrued
And vapid vacuity vanquished with veraciousness,
It is Avi, intellectual and inspiring and inscribed in my heart.

Avi Macyn: Flower Girl

Avi Macyn: Flower Girl
Rosy cheeks and flaxen hair
Her mother’s skin, her father’s eyes
And like a doll, she never cries
She’s perfectly complacent

Avi Macyn: Flower Girl
Her biggest and brightest smile
Her mother’s will, her father’s heart
And like a dream, there from the start
She’s perfectly complacent

Avi Macyn: Flower Girl
Little hands and little feet
Her mother’s here, her father too
And like a baby, still brand new
She’s perfectly complacent
