Augur Auger
David J Walker

It was all in the spelling
Actually
An e here or a u there
And the foreshadowing’s
Changed in strange
Rearrangements

After all, as a young augur
What was I to the grain
Augered into the silo

And yet if a Crow cawed
From a barbed wire fence
My uncle would turn the pickup
Around
And head for town

Discussing the meaning in
A mid-morning
coffee shop séance
Where everyone partook of the
Smoke and the black liquid

Was it rain or death foretold
in the beak of the blackbird

Everyone had their own opinion
One farmer left saying
He was a Christian
And would have no part in
The dark discussion

He would see them in
Church on Sunday

And just as augured
Everyone went back
To his own filed
Gaging a yield in the
Formation of clouds

Zephir augured imminent rainfall
Azure turned in a somber sky
Raindrop puddles in the soil
Storm in the horizon
Seagulls seek haven
Wind swayed the leaves
Tropical
Storm knocked
Port

Celestial Lakes

I wondered whether it would revive today,
the world I see from my awakened eyes,
In a solitude where I feel myself -
Being with the lofty peaks and crystal clear lakes,
Like a sole spectator living a life from his own reveries .

I wondered whether it would break the silence,
the crowd I augured from my sacred mind,
In a secrecy where I lived myself -
Being with the gentle breeze and fresh aroma,
Like a mortal living a life assuring his own regime.

I wondered whether it would hastened the way,
the journey I accompanied with my soulful bliss,
In an isolation where I dwell myself -
Being with the tranquil ambience and free hemisphere,
Like a solitary traveler living a life with his own envies.

I wondered whether it would distanced my destiny,
The place I reached with my heartfelt sympathy,
In a paradise where I reposed myself -
Being with my hermit soul and treasured wishes,
Like a deity living a life with his own blessings.

Solitude

I wondered whether it would revive tonight
The world I see from my awakened eyes,
In a solitude where I feel myself -
Being with the dusky night and tacit motions,
Like a sole spectator living a life from his own reveries .

I wondered whether it would break the silence
The crowd I augured from my sacred mind,
In a secrecy where I lived myself -
Being with the gentle breeze and fresh aroma,
Like a mortal living a life assuring his own regime.

I wondered whether it would hastened the streets
The journey I accompanied with my soulful bliss,
In an isolation where I dwell myself -
Being with the silent streets and hooting owls,
Like a solitary traveler living a life with his own envies.

I wondered whether it would distanced my destiny
The place I reached with my heartfelt sympathy,
In a paradise where I reposed myself -
Being with my hermit soul and treasured wishes,
Like a deity living a life with his own blessings.

Coast To Coast Legacy

The splendid patency of the ocean so vast
Becalmed my eyes when the sunset orangish
Rimmed the depth of the blues far…
The beacon beams glinted by the ebbtide
The waves bravoed to the het up coast
By the breaking of the eventide.
Aweary the trawler homed with a news
The ocean rage is being followed by the force of the veil
Masses at mass bespoke towards their deity
By the voice so augured he willed their existence
A numb so spread met with the aura of peace.
Lasted by the night awaited for the day break
The sun adorned with its rays from the east aglow sky
Forenoon prayers prolonged by the sunrise
Joggers by the coast breathed by the sand
The artisan appealed the passerby by his sand built avatar.
The daylight brightened the coast to colours
A joyous time for the mankind to savor
Maidens in maillot and men in slacks
Plunged themselves into the ocean so vast
Far there the dolphin dance
The waited lensman captured the ken thence.
