They're Lovers

See how the ocean glides back in to kiss the shore?
                                 In my minds eye
They have met on this sand floor
                             Many times before
With a soft caress on the sly.
See how the ocean glides back in to kiss the shore?
                                    As birds soar
                                           High
They have met on this sand floor.
He brings shells and driftwood for her to explore
                         Then leaves being shy.
See how the ocean glides back in to kiss the shore?
Could a lover ask for anymore?
                                   She says nigh.
They have met on this sand floor
Declaring their love as if no one has done it before
                                 To any passer by.
See how the ocean glides back in to kiss the shore?
They have met on this sand floor......

The Beach

On golden beach beneath blue sky,
With fishing nets beside the pier.
Two friends forever you and i.

                        As kids together spirits high.
We played our games without a tear,
On golden beach beneath blue sky.

One day so sad,you said goodbye.
We kept in touch most weeks each year,
Two friends forever you and i.

                        Conscription came,i do know why.
The battle cries rang loud and clear.
On golden beach beneath blue sky

Now soiled with blood in my minds eye.
My duty now confronts my fear.
Two friends forever you and i,

As foes together fight or die.
                           Survivors both, we did appear,
On golden beach beneath blue sky.
Still friends forever you and i.

In Another Time

The Jersey Shore

We, in another time, did savor summer's glow
upon a beach where many generations went,
where old time Jersey Shore was joy we came to know.

The cute, quaint cottages all nestled in a row
with pristine sandy beach, and fragrant ocean scent;
We, in another time, did savor summer's glow.

Where cooling ocean breezes spread their lovely flow,
a wicked hurricane arrived with bad intent...
where old time Jersey Shore was joy we came to know.

And, Sandy was that dreaded name we came to know;
she left the beach and homes in shocking discontent...
We, in another time, did savor summer's glow.

Now homely, modern cottages on stilts bestow
steep stairs, no flower gardens, charming beach accents
where old time Jersey Shore was joy we came to know.

A different time exists, rebuilt on new plateau,
for Sandy washed away, removed 'old days" content.
We, in another time, did savor summer's glow
where old time Jersey Shore was joy we came to know.

Note: Hurricane Sandy - October 2012, (unofficially known as "Superstorm Sandy") was the deadliest and most destructive hurricane of the 2012 Atlantic hurricane season, and the second-costliest hurricane in United States history. While it was a Category 2 storm off the coast of the Northeastern United States, the storm became the largest Atlantic hurricane on record. The Jersey Shore suffered the most severe winds and surf from Hurricane Sandy and the most damage from the storm. The Shore had the second highest flood in its history. (Wikipedia)
