~Summer’s Eve ~

I am a woman!
I am proud-

I am everything you want.
Plus more
The adoring wife,
A beautiful mother,
A grandmother a granddaughter
A daughter, a sister,
A lover, the aunt.
Your enemy, your friend.
I am the working lady.
A widow left behind.

  I AM!
The Spawn of Adam's rib-

  I AM!
A mentor throughout this world.
A lady with class, sometimes a material girl.
A flower, and the sound of rain.

I am the color of the rainbow.
I am deeper than the sea.
I am the pink ribbon you wear.
I am delicate like snow.

  I AM!
The sun and the moon in your eyes.
A twister during dark skies.

  I AM!
The Daughter of Eve-

And, here is the only feeling I want to endorse.
 Summer's Eve.

*****
In honor and appreciation to all the women of the world.
Happy Mother’s day!

~My Tricycle~

Christmas eve,
I could not help but peek.

There it was, a blue and pinkish bike.
With streamers all for me...

A ride, I wanted to feel inside.
A surprise, I ruined for my eyes.
The joy I felt, a naughty kid like me could not hide.

Running back into my room, jumping with glee.

Waiting and waiting...............................................

Christmas day, comes to life.
I'm all excited.. With the biggest grin...
Mommy walks me to my bike.
My grin slowly fades away.
A red tricycle, I start to cry.

I did not understand, why my older sister got the pretty bike.
My Christmas, ruined by a ruby red tricycle.

Mommies, hug did not comfort me.
I cried all night, and asked my daddy'
"How can this be?"
"It's not fair!"
"it's not fair!"

Daddy, had only one response..
"Sweetie, soon you will see."

New Years Eve**

I sit near the windowpane.
Staring at my sister ride her blue pinkish bike.
Even the streamers were laughing at me.

Night fall comes around..
It's cold and everyone is asleep.

I sneak my way into the barn.
I stare at it~
My sisters bike!
The smile on my face, I still can't erase.
"This bike will be mine tonight."

I grab the bike by the handles bars.
I walk the bike under the stars.

Two hours pass, and still I can't operate the pedals.
Finally I remove my shoes, and reach the pedals with my toes.
I'm off into the night, than suddenly I fell upon them rocks.
If only I waited for that push from daddy's hands.

:To Be Continued:

Lesson not learned,
My scars all accounted for.

Since first I saw you, it was your eyes,
mesmerizing, your gaze transporting
me to a realm, not of fantasy, real,
where young men go when cupid’s
arrow takes root.

Since first I saw you, it was your lips,
captivating, holding me frozen
in anticipation of our lips brushing
for the first time.

Since first I saw you, it was your voice,
a crescendo, light, invigorating,
each word you speak intensifies
my hearing, enveloping each
note, time ceases as I hang motionless
savoring, memorizing.

Since first I saw you, it was your hair,
long, flowing, gently rising above
your shoulders as a slight breeze
passes through sending waves
of your essence my way.
The sun magnifying each strand,
highlighting the minute
variances of invigorating color,
creating a halo effect, a portrait of
your beauty forever imprinted.

Since first I saw you, It was you,
my love forever more for you,
only you.

My sister says
my father was a good man --
but, how should I,
                        who never "knew" him
    (except as a far-from-good man)
          buy her stories?
                        Am I, the last child
   of that union,
              too, too judgmental?
Too far removed in time from
                              what she knew
    and now recalls?
My memory is of a different man,
who died when I was twenty-two:
       one rarely present, never talking,
often jailed,
                      unsupportive --
  someone I really never knew.
He was no bearer of familial tales,
              no imparter of the history
now I only wish I'd heard...
Obviously, I differ from my sister
about what constitutes a "good man".
He never seemed, to me, to feel that he
needed to provide the basics --
food, shelter, clothing, health care --
to his offspring -- and he almost never did......
I do remember how he staggered
            on the street,
                             fell off of curbs,
sought shelter
                       and often could be found
asleep -- or at least
                  stretched out unconscious --
                                          in some vacant lot;
how he was driven to forage
                                   frenziedly about for beer,
or only Gallo muscatel
                          (thirty-five cents for the flask).
Should I not ask
                what makes my sister think
I could remember him as does she?
In such a different light?
                                   As victim,
                                        and maligned by inlaws
                or by circumstance?
All I know is what I do remember,
               what I survived
                           when she and others,
 grown, were gone.
 I do not think
                that I can change
                                 or accept
(nor in absentia, forgive) --
and, no, I do not yet
 believe what my sister says.

Black and beautiful the crown of any man’s heart they are bewitched by her soul and her warmth.
My sweet sister draws you in with her smile, any man can find comfort in her arms.
She walks with a purpose, confident and pride knowing who she is... the queen of the Nile.

Without a doubt, her blood is royal strong and black like coffee with no cream not afraid to say what she means. No is no… yes is yes… no arguments after, no time for a debate.

My sweet sister, a woman full of hope and grace always on a mission, she knows her purpose and her place. My strong beautiful black African sister.

~SLY FOX~

There you go again little Sly fox P.D.
Another game of tag and jeopardy.
Clever, clever, little fox so bloodthirsty.
Chaos roams through your veins of liberty.
You walk the ground, prancing around your hostility.
Marching down with the dignity of mis-guided anarchy.

I'm gonna hunt you smell end it well.
Hang you up from your trophy tail.
Kiss your night one last farewell.
By morning dawn your foxy tail,
Won't live another tale to tell.

I'm gonna find ya' ~ pull your hideout from where you hide.
Smack you around in your everyday rebellious ways.
Thinking you can defeat my crowd with your lawlessness..
I don't need no hounds to track your unlivable Holy-mess.
You created a selfish character of kindness for the blindness.
You prey on the sheep's and linger on their wall of hopelessness.
Your sinfulness grew from the boldness, and bitterness,
Of growing up parent-less.
My dear Sly Fox are you on alert with your ears of nobleness.
Did you not hear me creeping while you were sleeping.

Sly fox the destroyer!

You are right, you are a mischievous game of hunt!
My trap is set and waiting for you by the river front.
Go ahead, take a drink, pull one last obnoxious stunt.
Run and run, as fast as you can!
You can't out run this one game of Skitty Skat fox hunt.....

THE DALLAS COWBOYS

Can you not hear the rumblings of that distant herd coming,
The loud thundering of destiny’s champions crossing, the NFL
Field of dreams, beware the rampaging lightening team known
As the Dallas Cowboys, for they are the hail storms victorous
Breed, the eye of the hurricane riders, searching for their
Well-deserved trophy of fortunes honor!
Remove your cowboy’s hats of respect unto them, ladies
Curtsy with reverences motion, for these athletes are
Endurance’s best, and they shall overcome against
Any opposing finest challengers, these rangers of the
Old western traditions, that carry this country’s time
Honored name of the cowboy to the ultimate extreme,
Of skill and strength’s dexterity!
Dallas all plain drifters of purity’s valor, head to head
No bull horns about it, these are the champions of the
Gladiatorial games in the world of sportsmanship!
Yielding unto no oppositions combatants, these warriors
Hold their ground with distinctions sheer magnificence!
Let those world famous cheerleaders scream with every
Field goal achieved, for these beauties know that no
Other team in footballs annals will score, to the level
Of these good old boys, named by fame's hall of records,
The famous Dallas Cowboys, heehaw and God bless hum!
Now listen you city slicking team of sports hall of fameing
Seekers, you’d better go back to your home fields of
Advantages, for hear in this lone star state, we take no
Prisoners, and show no mercy to out lander's!
Here in the ALAMO state of freedoms calling,
We remember our heritage standing tall and
Proud against all odds, blazoned in bullets
Historical legends, our grand team barres
The name of fore-barriers proudly, those
Pioneer’s men known, as the all American
Cowboys!
These six-shooters whom rode the die hard tails,
Across a new world creating a country of freedom,
Where only the tumble-weeds rolled, and desert dust,
Coached a man’s thirst almost to madness!
Now in traditions sport of men, a new team of desperado’s,
Threatens this lone star state, but have no fear my fellow
Texans for our Dallas Cowboys will send them packing,
With a good old boy’s field goals smacking, so I’ll cheer
Them on, waving my hat in the evening air, yelling heehaw,
Go get hum boys!

Oh sister world that can’t be seen
You dwell beside our haunting moon.
Are you like Earth, are your fields green?

Do you have aqua oceans too
With waves that lap upon the shore,
And snow white sands that meet the blue?

Have you cumulous clouds on high
That rise above the ocean’s tide
And mingle with the azure sky?

Oh dreamy world I’d like to know
If you share beauty we behold,
If you’ve seasons where flowers grow?

It matters not that I can’t see
Your planet dwelling beside us,
Only that we share harmony.

~What Make A Best Friends~

Best friends are hard to find
Just like among the lovely stars at night we’ve to pick the best one
A priceless gem of God’s Loving Divine.

I finally found you Linda (aka pd)...
My heart is in triumph
My desolation is gone
You’re not only like a star, but my rising sun
Someone who tenaciously raises me up when I’m down.

When a shroud of gloom hangs over me,
You cheer me up
Whether you are far or near
Your listening ears give me a breath of wind.

You offer the loveliest rose in your garden
Smile…. Laugh and cry with me
One of those who anchors to the fulfillment of my dream
Hone-in-on to a friend’s sake
Offers a mighty shoulder to lean on
Or to stand to see further. --From: L.G.

-A dearest sis, from heaven send-
I share my muse, with your beating friendship
Never would I force you to answer or say something
When I'm hurt or crying, or feel like my life is over
Just knowing you are there listening, brings comfort--
--Whether you are near or far
I know you will be there caring in every step of the way

In you I see a woman who highly respects herself
A beautiful person who goes a long way, making others feel the light
I would never trade you for someone who can't prance and dance like you
Your best quality, comes from being yourself no matter who's around
This is how I know, you have the perfect ingredients
Of what makes a special best friend

So, fun, unique and interesting, Leonora you are so sweet
You understand, with support, you carry a soul of trust and beauty
You were there through my good times and bad
A positive shoulder to cry on
Without casting judgment on the things I've done,
I smile with glee, enjoying your sincerity
Leonora, my BFF, I hope you don't mind that I gave my secret away
The perfect ingredients, of what makes a best friend. --By: P.D.

 Don't leave me hanging sis!

I came out of nowhere with an agenda on the mind
Joining the soup to be near my favorite love
a game I did not plan to play
Until he called upon the first round.
giving it my best shot
Then came round three and more.
The poets here I started to explore
Not taking my poetry seriously
The writing just happens naturally
now I see why she visits everyone at the soup.
My sister who puts on a show with words
Is adored by her very own group
the Destroyer was my pet name
She gave me when I was young
So envious of her, I broke the head of her only dolls.
using her poetry was the way she tortured me
Inside me, she bestowed a poet of mischief
Now I like to tease everyone mind with words

I hate this poem..... Lol..don't read it... It was a joking way back then

Soft as the lofting breeze, is the light of loving
Gentle is the moving sway, in the endless stillness
Of the human heart, for compassion in rheum’s
Perfection of the female soul of sisterhood!
White doves fluttering at the divine clouds of
Inspirational love, harmonious angels skipping in
The vast divides above, these poetic muses blessed by
Cherishes craft, eagles soaring within flights song of
The soul inspired!
Elegance dancing amongst the ivory powder of heaven,
Maidens of tranquility swirling in the timeless waltz of
Innocence beauty, sincerity’s weavers of art, color and light!
Yet at twilight behold the shield warriors of devotion,
Riding upon the dragons of the spiritual enlightenment,
Protections guardians striking on the right side of justice
And mercy!
Painters are these souls’ sisters of the heart, whom tender
Brush strokes paint the autumn leaves below, with the bursting
Palate of the divine inspirational textures of their glorious flare!
Explosions tempest, the storms hurricane to the passionate,
For we are the angels of inspiration, cascading within the clouds
Thunderous clapping, hear our soft words echoing within the souls of
Humanity, as in the eye of romance whispers in the swaying winds
Create beauty, magic and poetry!
Man do we beguile, memorizing them with seductions flame of brilliance,
Flickering nymphs of desire, playfully fluttering at the light of mankind,
Fairies intrinsic creature’s ethereal beings, trying not to singe our wings
Against sorrows envious spark of betrayal!
For mortal women, birth mothers of future generations, we are all
These mystical things, all rolled up into one sumptuous package,
Tied with a big red bow of the timeless treasure box, called sisterhood!
Let the male kindred thus so weep at our satin sleepers, we’ll cast them
Silver tears as tokens of the heart, yet we are bound by the ties of the female
Soul, and in unison our choir sings forever in the soul of sisterhood!
Hearts to the heart, the connected vines of loving,
Lights glorious shine of truth, wisdom, and beauty,
In the dream catcher of humanity, in the circle sphere of
Infinity, for we are the daughters of generations, the tender
Weavers of emotions, faith hope and charity!
Soft as the lofting breeze, is the light of loving
Gentle is the moving sway, in the endless stillness
Of the human heart, for compassion in rheum’s
Perfection of the female soul of sisterhood!

It was 1999
Shotgun rider
2000 green mustang
My sis, always beside her

Landed the same job
Only Mexican restaurant in town
Put gas in our car
Kept our wheels going round

All dolled up
Kissed our parents goodnight
Pretend to go to bed
Cruising feeling right

Idiots with wheels
License to drive
Dr. Pepper and cigarettes
Never felt so alive

Introduced to Mary Jane
She was a silly lady
Laying on the hood of our car
Listening to Slim Shady

Hungry for boys
Just a tease
Looking fly in our prime
The birds and the bees

The dawning of 2000
Life as we knew it, about to end
Eyes met at 12:01
We both began to grin

Cheers to a good year
Twice as old as I was then
Thinking of my sis today
Missing my best friend

I am black,
and you are white, my friend
On the surface, it would seem
we are two completely different human beings
But cut me,
watch me bleed
This is where we share our common bond of unity
It's in the blood, brother
Our blood is the same as one another,
our blood is all the same color
Scarlet are my sins,
color me bloody red ...
I have been spiritually dead
But I got revived,
born again
Now I have a new set of eyes;
I see everyone as my sister and brother,
my family is your father and mother
Yes, cut me,
watch me bleed
My heart bleeds for peace and harmony
Blood brothers let us all be,
let love multiply, let love abound aplenty
It's in the blood, sister
Our blood is the same as one another,
our blood is all the same color

I stare through the rear window as
the car begins to move away
With tears running the gamut of my
Face my body trembling and wet with
Sweat
I choke with anger as the contempt
For this separation grows deep
I wail and I wail
It is then that the memory of her tear
Filled puffy red eyes as she is cloaked
In a moment of sadness
Is imprinted on me
And I became a broken child
On a journey to a world that seemed
To be without conscience
For no longer could I be her
Protector and me the center of her
Attention
As the weeks turn to years the years
To decades
A bitter emptiness haunts me
For when I search my memory
Nowhere do I find ever saying
The goodbye word
To my little sister
And I cry

A Garden Dreamy

I often dream a sweet little daydream,
      of a garden dreamy . . .
A lush woodland place with a flowing stream,
up above are drifting clouds like ice cream;
a realm of floating bees and butterflies,
   a paradise of birds songs and plumage;
where green tree leaf frogs sing me lullabies,
   taking me back to my childhood age;
      and I am a little weepy . . .
Then a little girl stands in a sunbeam!

A sweet girl who left me one winter day,
and her name is Suzanne . . .
She takes me by the hand and giggles gay,
among painted daisies and snowdrops we play;
I was so shy and she was always wild,
   we weave in and out of the tall yarrow;
a bouquet of posies, from a lovely child,
   then, Suzanne is fading to a shadow;
      I dream whenever I can . . .
I daydream this dream that will always stay!

GAY
"Mum, he's gay", I look surprised, we only play with dresses, lip gloss and high heels I wonder why she says I'm gay, what does it mean I ponder, and hold my dress up high And turn and twirl in the mirror, wave goodbye and smile, and jump and land, hem of my dress in my hand, and look again This is me, I am small, wanting to be tall. "Mum, he is gay" she says again. "But, what is gay?" "That doesn't matter sweetie, you stay exactly the way you are, and dance for me" And that I do, mum, watch and see, I dance for you, I dance for you, I'm wearing skirts, And I love you.

The smile on one's face makes them feel glad again
My sister always had a smile to share
Once came time for her birthday,
A handsome boy came to call
And along with him,
A baby blue bonnet that pleased us all.

The smile on her face showed us she was glad
She leaned in a gave a sweet little kiss
Then the Civil War started and he had to go
She would be crying for him.

The bleak war raged on
Many were dead
She was pining for him.

The sheets of casualties came and they left
Many were torn to pieces
My sister dear cried,
"He has died and left me!"
She hugged the dear baby blue bonnet.

The time was bleak when she claimed the body
Sister dear had to wear black
When came the funeral,
She brought with her
The beloved baby blue bonnet

She refused to wear the hideous black hat
"Instead the bonnet!" she cried
For she would remember
The sunny day when,
He gave her the baby blue bonnet.

Death, the thief, took you away!

Red
I think sometimes we are more enemies than friends.
When we scream at each other, I think about how much I hate those dark brown eyes of yours.
Your hair are soft downy feathers that I wish I had.
The way you speak your mind to me is like a river, carrying fish but also debris.
We disagree over the smallest things, neither of us willing to back down and determined to have the last say, no matter how insignificant they are.
Your childish personality often clash with mine.
You don't ask, but my favorite socks will somehow end up on your feet.
I wish I can turn back time to the way we were before.
The two of us were like puppies, playful and inseparable.
I remember our balloons being blown away, sailing up into the blue and beyond.
Hand in hand, we'd walk into school, only letting go when we go our separate ways.
We'd play outside even in the musky, gray fog.
You once defended me like your life depended on it.
I miss those times.
But I love you anyway; even though at times you make me see red.

I loved you
from the first moment I saw you
running on the playground grass
Michelle
I raced over and grabbed your hand,
when I saw you had tripped and fell
Then you looked up and smiled at me
And to this day, I swear,
at that very moment, I heard the school bell ring
And to this very day, you just don't know
how much joy hearing your laughter bring
When I helped you up,
you kissed me on the cheek,
and ran away so fast
Graceful and elusive
like a gazelle
You always ran so fast,
none of the other boys could beat you
You always left us panting, out of gas
But my heart never stopped chasing after you
I remember the first time you invited me to your house,
you didn't warn me that you had a twin sister too
Isabelle and Michelle
As soon as the door opened I kissed her,
when I thought I was kissing you
You and your sister laughed so hard
I later learned that was her favorite prank
And over time, I could tell who was who
I could tell, as your laughter trailed away
when you ran, when your feet flew
Michelle,
graceful and elusive
like a gazelle
I think deep down, you always knew how I felt about you
But you always played it off,
said that's what best friends say, that's what best friends do
Quickly changing the subject, you would run away so fast,
and I would say to myself:
Maybe one day ... who knows
Only time will tell
Maybe tomorrow, I will catch her heart,
as I toss my love down a wishing well
How does a shy, and slow-to-date
young boy catch a gazelle
When you became grown and moved away,
I was so sad
When I heard you had made a good life for yourself,
I was so glad
When I heard you were gonna get married,
I felt so bad
When I heard how he had jilted you,
I was so mad
Michelle,
graceful and elusive
like a gazelle
You finally stopped running from me
when you realized how I cared so much
But I have to thank my other best friend
for always letting me know about you by staying in touch
Isabelle
She's the one who always picked up my broken heart,
every time I chased after you and fell
She's the one who made my lovesick heart mend well
She's the one who told you
on the first day I met her,
I'm in love with him, but don't tell
Isabelle,
she finally caught my heart with those
loving, large and lustrous eyes of a gazelle

My sister For years I hoped my feet grew roots; My toes would find themselves deep earthy rock... My sister wrapped herself around my tiny loneliness, Offering a permanent shell no oyster could provide. My sister, my pearl, this lost heart shines. *** January 4, 2017 For contest: Rooting for 8 to 5 Sponsor: Nette Onclaud

I hear you in your room
The words he shouts are unclear
But I hear every tear that escapes your eyes
I feel every tear that is replaced inside

Unbearable

I hear you calling out
Begging for him to stop
I'm frozen with fear
Picture clear what he's doing to you
What he's done to me

Unbearable

The sound of every time he hits you
Bruises deeper than the skin
I hear a smash and know
He's vindictively broken something you love
Stinging more than his punch

Unbearable

Children no longer allowed to talk
Fearing a beating for simply looking at each other
Now it seems clear why he kept us separate
Suffering in our solitude
Though for me yours will always be..

Unbearable

When you said to me
Recently
Your childhood ended
When you were ten
When Dad died and we moved in with him
Where you summed up our childhood
In words so powerful in their few

Unbearable

Knowing that your sad
Knowing that your crying
Knowing you can't forget
Knowing you feel what I feel
Knowing so much of what he did to you
The guilt for not being able to help you
Then, now, always.

Unbearable

Dad's bark is worse than his verse.
When he hits it doesn't really hurt.

The dirt outside the house is soil.
The mouse inside the house is life.

Can't escape the printer or the car, IV
bag, heart monitor, a billion trillion stars.

Snow descends, each flake unique.
My sons' friends, each infinitely

a Greek or Trojan hero. Our morals:
hit not the girls, nor rape. Love more

than you are loved, by a little. Give
but stop before it hurts. Stand together

or fall apart. Which candidate you vote
for less important than to vote. Don't

depend or dote on leaders, housekeeper
and president are gods equally

remote. The human body is a thing of
bone, a strange upright animal, and the

telephone a mystery to other animals.
Everyone and everything is spinning

electrons and the space between.
A great crunch, inverse of big bang,

yr big sister told.

For my sister When I awoke Her taller frame was wrapped ‘round me An arm choking this small draining tube Her sleeping hair tickling my neck Titillation of breath warm Comforting When I awoke I carefully freed the drip and smiled While she slept on Warm against my cold self I relished in her sun In her caring selfless self When I awoke The world changed itself to fog And mist in my clouded brain Fear and helpless terror Anxiety made me cling desperate To and in her warmth When I awoke When the pain shook me She slowly rocked me, hummed a song If in my life I have to love one woman It must be her My sister When I awoke *** February 12, 2017

Oh shooting star!

Burnt out bright across a sky
thier wonder in your light
a frozen trail of tears you leave behind

Their laughter at your sparks
I have felt your ash
You roam lost within the dark
I run to where you've crashed

I've ran so fast so far to where you are
Oh fickle little shooting star

And

Oh shooting star!

Burnt out lost within a sky
They all cheer
They cannot see you wave goodbye

Oh shooting star!

I sigh despite their smiles
for the further you have flown
I know the faster you will die

So fly

fly away shooting star

Invaded by the tribe

The old station wagon
Pulls to halt in my driveway.
The five children fall out
of its rusted doors
shouting and laughing.
She turns off the noisy engine.
Slips ghostlike from the drivers seat.
Her five hours of driving
In a bedlam of her children’s noise.
Looking so slight and frail.
My heart melts again.
I enfold her in my arms
And whisper thanks for coming.
Even though I have moaned
About her children’s disruptions.
The extra work cooking
And entertaining.
I look into my sisters face
And whisper I love you Sis.
You are always welcome
In my house.
And in my heart
