“For in your light I dream, as evening takes my hand” Silently I find my thoughts illumined by your beauty In soft shimmers of dancing silhouettes and patterns allowing far away breaths to sigh Eyes peer into velvet skies, visions set in motion eternally, find me stranded of this distance we share, north to south, longing for you Desperate for but a breeze, a movement of shadow, a hope of wishes made upon the early arrival of this crested view Lonely among the maples, towering soldiers lined at fielded boundaries, claiming wisdom as they too reach for your smile “And I yearn the knowledge of your distant view” Do you think, do you feel, do you dream of me from balconies high above hibiscus footpaths, candle lit in passing moments which flicker, enchant Drinking from a porcelain cup caressed by your hand, a touch my body pleads, soft fingers on smooth surroundings, ripples following moonlight sonatas, days of spring blooms and whimsical showers, flooding affections to wash over me, carry me to you This moon, suspended in charcoal heavens upon a beaded blanket of perfect pearls, beckons our dreams in simultaneous fashion “Does your heart share this moon tonight, with me”

The Maltese Moon,
she draws my eyes
to shapely orb
in starlit sky
she smiles at me
with wanton grace
and spills desire
upon my face
I'm all awash
in milky glow
sacred secrets
Mine to know...

the Maltese Breeze
he flirts with me
can't let me be
his fingers trace
my rounded face
my hair he twirls
my skirt's a whirl
he has no care
this Maltese Breeze
alone can dare
dishevel me
and set me free

The Maltese Sea
now beckons me
wets my desire
in moon glow fire
that rides the waves
as my heart craves
His liquid arms
and all his charms
This Maltese Sea
so vast so free
is calling me
is calling me....

I close my eyes
as Maltese Air
caresses my lips
in great fanfare
I breath him in
in sheer delight
invigorated
by his might
I pause a while
my life on hold..
my heart, it beats
so brave, so bold

The others, they just
walk on by
and yet I wait
alone, I sigh
Awash in light
of Maltese Moon
the Maltese Breeze
just simply croons
and Maltese Sea
he, murmurs sweet
and I am lost
In Maltese treat

The magic starts to fade away
I start to walk, I cannot stay
They've called me from my reverie
I rush to catch up with the three
but turn for one more blessed glance
at Maltese Moonbeam's fond romance
There's more to me than what they know
more passion than what I can show

The Maltese Moon, she smiles at me
For we have shared sweet ecstasy

They'll have you believe she was lost to the sea,
But the moon would beg to differ.

She was always lost,
Always looking for which way to go.
Or was that always looking for where she came from?
The moon couldn't really tell coming from going;
To a celestial body both look pretty much the same.

She wanted to be found asserts the moon.
Or was that to be seen?

She had confided at every turn,
Every phase,
I see you,
Do you see me?
I am but a sliver today, how about you?
A crescent, that's exactly how I'm feeling too!
I see you,
Do you see me?
No, not this moonless night;
I don't see myself either.
I see you,
Do you see me?
I see you.

I know you see me too.
You are the full that fills me.

She was not lost to the sea insists the moon.
It was not the sea that swallowed her
But my reflection.

There's a chilly air where it used to shine
There's a misty breeze through the purple vine.

In a fading summer tick-tock sounds
 move backwards marking every hour

Darkness falls down slowly upon each longer night
Stealing beewax gold of sunset's soft -glow light.

Against total eclipse, Foliage silhouettes make their return back
Bringing to his arms a Lunar death ... Her death.

Along empty walks, earthy drops drizzle regret
Regret with every footstep and heavy inward breath

Regret... Drops Thunder... Thunder and death
Death !  Dead !      Gone ..  Gone....

Or does She live in his forevermore

Is that her reflection mirroring affection
Is it her hidden face that glistens in the lake

Is that the crescent moon that once showed him the way
A way to feel to feel again what it is like to dance and sway

Sway to lilting music nobody else could hear
to flow adrift in silent pause ,knowing She' s still there.

Knowing she is with him hovering in dreams,
beaming radiant shadows all over his cheeks

Believing She'll get closer without owning his lips
Because their bond was deeper than just a simple kiss.

She lovingly smiles at him each evening
dressed in palest silk, a gossamer gown,
brushed with hints of silverdust shadows.
Her shapely fullness casts a womanly glow
across his surface in ripples of light.

Enthralled by her shimmering beauty,
he waves to her from Baltic blue depths
of his longing and unspoken passion.
Her reflection swims in his crests and troughs
as he cradles the embodiment of her perfection.

Crested fingers rise to fondle her magnificence
but vast distance keeps them too far apart.
Her heart guides the ebbing and flowing
of his tides in their nightly dance, spent romancing.

Fluidly, he waltzes her in rhythm to the shore,
serenaded by a chorus of flickering stars
singing a tune written eons before
Gershwin could dream of Rhapsody in Blue.

Little more could either of them do as
their song wafted in a dolorous lover's lament
known by humans but perceived by few
as a divergent love between two of Earth's forces
whose liaison would be a tragedy for me and you

Inside a knowledge turning cogs on this wheel
born from the darkness a heart rules supreme
fear in one wish looking towards tunnel light love
All that will remain when all turns to dust threads of life dance
kneeling weak alone humble and meek finding a balance

Weeping rivers flow haunting sea waves turn the key
truth is something beautiful touching deeply chords
Chilling whispers rise warm oasis warmly embraces hold
creeping inside beauty beams within shadows
Dancing starlight kissing ocean reflections twinkle
sparkle glisten teardrops coldly ripple out

Floating on a cloud of breath precious beauty
a mystery that means something special
finest mother of pearl gem coloring rainbow jewel shines forever
Frozen dew quicksilver lining echoes time answers always
cold as ice crystals dazzling diamond stillness pure

Frosted vision clear cutting ivory white one cool snowflake falls
baptism in regal glowing crowning full face splendor enchants a ball
walking along golden strands looking across the sea midnight strikes
Sleepless nights held over and back destiny calls your name
utopia faraway dreaming our love complete

Oh Goddess Moon, you induce painters to paint,
the crazed to rave and poets to praise your grace.
How many love affairs have you helped to consummate?
With a woman’s many wiles, you change your shape.
How you beguile, yet never do you vacillate.
You stay your course and never stray!

Like yin to yang, you are to sun a cool and pallid pool,
changing, yet constant in your rule
as you steadfastly move from New to Quarter To Gibbous to Full,
and then you wane . . .
till in Crescent Balsamic you reign -
there to shortly contemplate the wisdom you have gained.
Your fortnight ended, you journey back again.

We all beneath you are an ocean mystically pulled,
heirs to the gifts you weave at the time we are born.
Like our predecessors who learned to heed
your rhythmic sounds as they planted seed,
it would behoove us, with our vast technology,
to stop and study the sky, your teachings there to see!

I Death Wood

My skeleton, the trembling tree,
hit by the axes of ambulances
due to the decay of disease.
My muscles languish as wilted leaves.
My organs are rotting red apples.
My soul is the searing wind, while
my thoughts tick like termites.

The ivy of MS illness wraps with
waste around my twisted trunk.
Suddenly, spiders of suicide
descend onto my branches.
They crawl across my broken bark,
crackling my rustic eyesight.

The sun, a golden unicorn, gone
into the forest of healthy laughter.
My wilted wood wanes in a cloud coma
with no moon, stars or watercolor sky.
Where are my wildflowers?
Where is my green gleam?
I wait and wish for black lighting.

II Birth Wood

My family, the fog where most
float in the underworld as veiled
ghosts along the grassy grounds.
My thirsty roots reach for them
like wild hands hungry in ebony soil.
Sometimes their memory perfumes
and pollinates my heart with prayers.

My friends are a flock of birds that
become singing bracelets upon my bark.
Their feathers grace me like silk hope.
Their beaks devour the suicide spiders
on my weak wood, and their cheerful
songs encourage me to bloom once again.

Full moon flashes as a white wizard,
wearing a cloak of competitive clouds,
while moody night smolders as his black hat.
Spirals of opal light make my bark bright.
Spirit moonbeams weave within my wood,
healing hollow shadows, and allowing me to
taste the monthly midnight milk of magic.

III Rain Wood

Spring steams with saturating rainfall,
sealing my splinters, washing away webs,
and the dirt of daily depression.
My sap slides like a slow moving sea.
My tree bends and bows in all
directions, sprouting with joy.
Jade fire erupts along my branches.

Raindrops beat like crystal hearts
upon my boughs and my blossoms.
These clear spheres of nature inspire
rebirth and germination of all life.
My apples sing as flutes, my leaves
clap hands, and my trunk plays harp.

My lover, the lone eagle, appears and flaps
his feathered wings upon my wooden nest.
Our love is best lived in traveling weather.
My limbs taste the last drops of dissipating dew
as the crocheting clouds release final rivers.
Deer court in the fermenting forest,
while golden unicorn grazes upon me.

Where cold stars exist in the dark,
serene winds whisper to trees
and scarce human ears can listen,
lone songs wail in the distance
in frozen moon's silver spotlight,
a mark left where paws had paused.

Inspired by creature #3 Coyote

nette onclaud's contest - NIGHT CREATURES

This poem was also inspired by actual events. A few weeks ago, I discovered
some large animal paw prints that were left in the snow, near my home. I later
found out that the tracks were made by a wolf.

She's going outside her comfort zone
Why would she leave her safe cell
Life has come with promises from the birth moment
Of a light at the end of the tunnel
The pain that ruin causes falls deep into the darkness
There is no need to be afraid
Every day and every night
Refuse to love, nightmares and dark shadows from the past
A constant fight ensues between her heart and mind
No questions nor any answers ... emptiness
She lets the cold breeze guide her thoughts
Moments define themselves regardless
Right here helpless, silent and breathless
Dreaming by candlelight and paper lanterns
Brilliantly defined and silhouetted, and so brightly lit

When the curtains open and music plays
Fluttering wings of magic sails on cloud nine
Flashing golden memories held within the dome
Happiness enchanting spells a heavenly rays smiles
Open arms warmly embracing sighs inside waves turn keys
One song faraway rising tides brushing sands
In the basin seed of love nourished with beauty
Eden's fruit once bitten when rose blossoms
Sweetly summer sun dances in the horizon
Kissing beams drifting faraway holding paradise
Walking inside the moonlight shadows of daydreams
Winds whispering honey coating chants your tune

We drifted not far from shore -
a delicate night with supple air entire,
black and white until patience sent us grays
that rocked with the boat on the slight swells
which gradually reflected the star colors
azure and indigo, carmine and beryl,
sang to us in laurel and rose
verdant with coral and mint
emeralds peeking between pinks,
sapphires that told us of every prayer
ever whispered to them.

I was coming a long way back
that time in the empty park
where all I had were fears that I'd never heal.
In an instant it was all done and I was found
that day I saw your eyes.

The moon set in silence beyond the land.
A gentle wind turned the boat to the south.
Distant rain sent water washing the earth.
Just for a moment we touched the surface of all things.

I love you.

It's there.....
There .....in the sky
Looking like
A bowl of rhubarb and custard

The fiery glow it emits
Looking like a giant fireball.....
Ready...to descend to earth
the moon in all its glory.

What does it mean?
Denoting spring is on its way
Or goodbye winter ....
Here's hoping the sun will shine as brightly.

It is lighting up the earth
Capturing it ...saying I can do anything
Make you look so different ...
Make you overheat and fry.

Why is it so red?
Has it gathered up the volcanic dust
As it passes through the atmosphere .
Like a pearl in an oyster,...to release a round jewel

Brings a smile to our faces
A warmth to our hearts
A soul all aglow .....
The red moon captures all

I do not love you like the crescent moon
majestically erupting into a star filled night
nor do I love you like the pearl painted swan
gliding effortlessly across a pristine pond

Fear not for I do most certainly love you -

But my love is more like a cool crisp apple
one succulent bite bringing sustenance to life
My love lives in our fresh laundered linens
dried in the comforting winds blowing off the sea

My love is here
My love is now
It is in everything I touch
It is in everything I Do

I may not love you like the luster melting hearts
glistening off a ten carat diamond ring
but you can be sure my love lives daily
in my every breath and my every dream

Looking divine a picture goddess
jewels crowning gems sparkling magic
shining beautiful moon princess dazzling light

At a regal glance priceless cut, shines out diamond
silver ivory full face over and back
we dance into the milky way to paradise

In silver shadows we kiss holding sweetly our love
our souls sparkle together amazing dreams shine
this picture forever lives in the mind one treasure

Most adoring of all queens gracious
sweetheart I pray soon one day we will always
be together all I ever want to do deeply

Is make you smile embraced with happiness
its dark here alone shining in all dreams
Light of a thousand stars halo shine around you babe

Silken ribbons whisper tenderly soft
in every thought a warm breeze sails
Silently this boat to you on golden waves

Only if you wish darling
one in a thousand dreams that come true
you're the sweet night in gale singing inside always now in your tune

ELEMENTAL DESIGN

Hydrogen to Helium
A fusion formed by gravity
A carbon-based delirium
Molecularly infinite energy

An ancient discipline known as alchemy
We’re consciousness - the explosion - amorous
We dream of gold from lead and mercury
Fueled reaction in copper with phosphorus
A universal age of prosperity

Bismuth bath. Deficient of iron and zinc
Astronautic laugh – last shine of hope
Nuclear decay –enlightened way – elemental - instinct
Scientific – logical clay – gaseous isotope.

The fluoride, we drink?
Humanity on the pivotal brink

The edge, a precipice.

Lanthanides and actinides
Metals and mysteries.
Shrink down to atomic scale
Our intellect – an accelerated history
Reality?
A holographic projection
Radioactive expansion
A gravitational trajectory

Inertia

Precious pavonine pearl
Our planet, our world.
A place all our elements may inhabit
Terrestrially unique. Diverse and intelligent
The push of inertia
The pull of gravity
The spin of an atom
The spin of our galaxy.

The end.

       My eyes captures the most beautiful moments:
       The drops after tonight's cold breath
       Brown leaves on moist soil
       A coal-black sky with a majestic moon that
       makes shadows dancing with excitement and mystery
       Heralding thus the coming of cold and
       long winter that is in store
       with snow covered landscape resembling
       Caring angels that the people of the whole world
       Embrace with their luminous wings!

~Marionette Master~

All my dreams evolve around my wooden floor
Candles and clowns the show must go on

~~~~
The Moon slowly moves its way into my room
Dust pushes through my window making shadow puppets on my walls
The talent on my walls dance, scaring my sweet dreams away
No cradle-songs tonight
Dangling artisans’ fingertips scratching down my core
Exquisite observation, an alley down “Death Street.”
Panic rattles my bone,
Stuttering a taste of ma' ma' ma' mama' off my lips
Grandfather clock ticks with every pull of the string
Invisible jellyfish puppets swaying their feelers that sting my site
A superior skill eating away at my fear
I can’t breathe,
I can’t move,
It dangles!
What can I do?
Carved Marionette figures locked in my head
A game in which trickery and deception are the main events
Staged with an evil sinister mask, sanctioning my nightmares.
No one to rescue me from the danger of this bedside playground.
The puppeteer engages to provoke me with my own dolls.
A dramatic performance throttles my mind …….
I cannot come out from under my blanket,
I cannot run,
My hands cannot reach the circus print lampshades!
A shadow show played in slow motion!!!
Realizing the moon can pull a world of strings with its own light
***
Suddenly, boney fingers from the sunrise show me the way…
I look down until my toes touch the cold wooden floor
I creep and creep,
Then I flick on my lamp.
The purple walls swallowed the orgy drawing inspired by the mooned night
A huge diversity of graphic illusions of puppetry in my room vanishes in one click
Mother please no more Pinocchio in my lullabies! ;-)
A hole in the head shooting pain trembles
nightshades coldly down the spine
a soul lost in the land of the living
carried away in darkness
flying inside dark clouds holding just a dream
Distant thunder roars lightening splitting cracks
sure as the crow flies crawling opens Hell's gates
dark jewels of the night
charred remains churning in a cauldron
boiling goodness tears of thoughts
Piercing screams spawning nightmares
holding a promise once made
walking in a valley amongst the dead
shadows now smile hearing animals scream
as the moon plays silver dancing light
Dreams snatched away from reality
the crow calls echoes in silence
victims of this world howling over and back
tragedy cries in their pain and suffering
eyes seeking light
whispers through the branches
a heather bleat creature of the night calls
Haunted by humans chained to the earth
awaiting shadows and sunsets
a cursed banshee wails supernatural screams
from everywhere and nowhere
Mind numbing winds passing through
a white silhouette shredded shroud
around a heart entombed
in agonies' twilight shades clouds darken
storms brewed stirring specters chase the wind
Cold rains become lost tears
the willow weeps in eternal sorrows
a lament for the dead
as the silver crescent moon smiles goodbye
Blends in clear as day after sunrise
forgotten in a valley of unrest
death bell's toll out from the past
onyx feathered crows call painful cries
Forever seeking heaven's gate now sealed
that promised choice was lost ages ago
only burning Hell fires
or cold earthworms await
With silence weighed, the moonlight fades to play charade, before it's found. The moon on track, folds into black, then staggers back, without a sound.
The amber light, through window glass
like time itself, shines much the same
Some things change, but some remain
Tonight's full moon still knows her name
Her silken hair, her porcelain neck
a strand of pearls, a diamond clasp
I find them now, within my grasp
They bask within the timeless past
With envy now, the night is awed
Covetously, it fondles rows
of tiny orbs, which, one by one
are miracles, with moons, within
I hold the pearls within my palm
and think of old Glenn Miller songs
and mother dancing long ago
She wore them like another skin
back, long before my life began
A grain of sand, then pearls become
A part of her, ....    a part of me
So fragile, weak the thread is bare
as if the sun might gaze too long
a tarried glaze, the string would fray
and pearls would fall and roll away
Perhaps such things meant to be
Each miracle, has just a while
Glenn Miller songs have come and gone
I'll put away the pearls for now
so moon can own the night again
                              Oh moon, with your many moods,
                                your beauty woos me, as you
                                   wax and wane majestic.
                                Your mesmerizing call awakens
                              my heart, as you carry me away
                               like the tides that ebb and flow
                               along your shimmery pathways.
                                  Where you go, I will follow,
                                   to distant lands and seas,
                               navigating by the stars alone.
                             For I am captivated by your beauty
                                as I hear your siren song calling
                               an enchanting, haunting melody
                                     too powerful to resist.
                                     My heart is moonstruck
                                away I go, adrift and wandering
                                 until I meet you face to face
The moon's bow beckons to me,
wind's frosty fingers
entwining mine,
and I lay myself on the balcony's ledge
immersing, losing myself
under that inky blanket sea
the clouds rolling past, so fast,
skimming like waves veiling moonlight,
then letting it peek through
like a shy bride
beautiful, so beautiful
a gentle glow of soul
a silent lullaby that rocks me
If only for a moment
I keep my cradle of tears at bay,
as I let the moon do the weeping for me.
Debussy's Clair de Lune
now mingles in my mind like soft smoke
and tears come streaming...
Tired, so tired am I.
Touching fingers off
deep fire melting tips
sweetly burning brushes
inside warmly walls
Within four chambers
echoes whispering silently
softly desires warm when skipping a beat
Oh you talk the words
of the sweetest golden honey
intoxicating mead
The drunken spirit dancing
swoons just in thoughts alone
In what you said darling
I blame you smiling
you're a regal beauty
Whom I will kiss
hovering gently over your fingertips
softly holding one's vision
A flame left under the silver moon
dancing with you're shadow of my soul
one firefly beaming beautiful
In the night sky a light from you
shines in each passing new moon
takes a step closer
just to know all the right words to say darling
I'll kiss you till you're calm and then you would be mine..
or maybe i'll wait for the star
to shine upon that beautiful day
The moon was a pearl - a large white brilliant pearl of a moon precious like the one I adored as it shone down on us from the sky. The sky was a sea - a broad expanse of midnight blue as deep as the love we made deep in a night swimming with shimmering myriads of stars. And the stars were fish - beautiful shimmering star-fish as bright as the glow in his eyes - those eyes that gazed into mine deep into the night of the beautiful sky - that broad expanse of midnight blue - the sea into which we gazed so deeply in love as the moon met our gaze - the moon that shone down on me and my love most precious - Oh, night of the large, white brilliant moon - the pearl. Oh Maiden Moon, who gave my eyes,
in visions of a child,
the innocently whispered sighs
to keep my temper mild.
With waxing love, I saw you grow
the Goddess maid, of all I know,
with waxing love,
with waxing love,
a world of light you gently show.
Oh Mother Moon, who took my hand
and nurtured in my soul
the will to work and understand
in ways of old, I’m whole.
Oh blesséd Moon of perfect grace
within your light, I find my place,
Oh blesséd Moon,
Oh blesséd Moon,
with you, I stand in sacred space.
Oh Waning Moon, I’m blessed with age
your wisdom as my guide,
no words to tell upon the page
as mysteries confide.
Oh Lady Crone and queen of night,
advise my heart with ev’ry rite.
Oh Lady Crone,
Oh Lady Crone,
you fill my life with pure delight.
