I am the diamond
     that breathes
     in your hands;
The fine lace to sway in
     breezes through windows
     as I crumble dedans la pirouette;
The cyclone, the earthquake,
     implosion of power
     in your arms.

          Spin me a room,
          Weave me a rainbow,
          Pull me to you and
          push me away.
          Burn me, absorb me.

I tumble, trip, fall,
     to be lifted by you,
     elevated, levitated;
Finest rags, softest fringe,
     ripple around
     last evening light;
Raise me slowly
     on tiptoes;
Rescue me, scream my name
     loud.

          Spin me your laughter,
          Catch me, don't drop me,
          Pull me to you,
          never push me away.
          Dance, don't stop.

Never stop.

Sunlight sparkles on the shimmering pond Its mirror like surface smooth as silk Dragonflies dance across the water Performing aerial acrobatics like a circus in the air Water dipping on a fairground ferris wheel Then plunging dramatically like a helicopter in free-fall Rising and falling skimming the water so gracefully Transparent gossamer wings flapping in flight Shimmering like a sapphire in the early morning sun Dazzling me with your infinite beauty Some summer days I wish I had wings Seeing dragonflies’ dancing makes my heart sing This is one of my early poems and it is a particular favourite as I tried very hard with the imagery Contest: A poem that you enjoyed Sponsored by Lewis Raynes 15th May 2014

Stay a little longer come closer to my heart Breathe dew breeze on my neck's nape do not yet depart Play for me bagpipe music Blindfold all my starving fears Let the dulcet tones of your voice give us back those harvest years Make of the citrus moon a ballroom Hold me firmly from both hands Lift me high to touch the star-sky Show me how young peasants dance Let my soothing fingers trail across your caloused sun -soaked skin In purple fields Come chase me in that place our souls have been Take me away with you where this world is out of sight Where unspoken thoughts and heartbeats are enough to blaze the night.

Dead Winter Stray~ By: Poet Destroyer

Nearby paces, Combatants lost under the cemetery walls,
“Blessed Men and Heavenly Remedy Women of Ages,”
Feelings of dance at the beginning of nightfall,
Scenery of fire, sadness passing this history page,
In that distant curve, somewhere nears the sundown stream.
Far away from the vision of mortal eyes,
A child plays as beautiful and pale like the sunrise.
She plays on the coast this beautiful but pale, sun raised child.
Pursuing nature, in a hushed angelic lucidity,
“In hushed angelic lucidity!”
Fragile fastened, to those adequate bones.
Profound deepness beneath the snow winder dust,
Below the memoirs of her floating vessel,
Reminisces of water drowning down rivers and streams,
A shattered female kneels in salvation.
An anvil so heavy it troubles the mind.
Lost in profoundness, in what might have been.
What was, for a moment in this period?
The grimness of her weak vessel dwells.
A lifeless winter strays around.
An album so old and dusty,
A christening gown not ever embraced.
Infinite, the woman and pale child of sunrise,
Soften footfalls beating out the torments.
Countless nights seeing the day of unspoken headstones,
Feelings of dance will never rest this heartache.
Eternity, in a dance of unconditional need,
Their hearts unite as one...
A closing of mother and child…

Dead Winter~ By: Catie Lindsey

There walks Warriors in that graveyard,
Holy Men and Medicine Women of ages;
at night you can see their Spirits dance,
setting fire to history's pages.
In that far corner, up by the stream,
far from the eyes of publicity,
she plays on the shore, beautiful Raylene,
catching poly-wogs, in silent lucidity.
In silent lucidity.
Brittle now, those fine bones,
deep beneath the snow drifts of winter,
beneath the memories of her body afloat
down rivers and streams of Remember.
A broken woman kneels in prayer,
a heavy weight on a burdened mind,
somewhere deep in what could have been,
what was, for a moment in time.
The grayness of her frail body lingers,
in a dead winter of the unborn,
on page forty-nine in the family album,
in a baptismal gown never worn.
Together they dance, the woman and the child,
their soft footfalls pounding out the sorrows
of many days at a worn out headstone,
many dances to come, many tomorrows.
Together they dance, The Woman's Dance,
their hearts as one...
the woman and the child.

Oh Avi, Avi
  Sometimes, with my eyes closed
    I see you dance
      A dervish, whirling, like me
        And I wished
Oh how I wished you would
            pirouette into my arms
              You would hold me
                How I would hold you

                  But my arms and yours
                caught girls, alluring and delicate
              Oh Avi, Avi
            When you laughed
                                          My stomach turned
                             And multi-coloured butterflies
             And small flying kites
danced into the air

     Occasionally you glanced at me
the way I did at you
       I think you did
Oh Avi, Avi
        We were so young
                Just boys, small boys
Thinking about you still
  makes my day smile

             I wheel my chair
        With light rhythmic movements
   Dreaming about a time
  Where I still had dreams
     And you were in them
          With our tights and muscular
               Frames and our spunk
             Avi, oh Avi.

~Sun Dancing~

Bright yellow sparks glisten around the landscape
Sheer environment expose
Warmth slinks down every step
So-- Invigorating
Spur like rays muster in long light
The wolves wait to howl
Soon--Bunch of flowers
Huddle in with sunlit love
Luminous rave

She sings in soft tones,
her magic exists beyond the obvious.
Listen closely to her wanting,
She is wrapped in a trancendent light.

A dreamer,
chasing white rabbits.
Grasping for the infinite,
with delicate hands.

A moth,
Dances within her luminosity.
Flying on yesterday's wings,
carrying smiles that are meant for tommorow.
Witness her as she waits to exhale.

A daisy chain,
tied around her wrist.
A future promise to be kept.
For within her spirit,
exists a burning passion!
She waits for one who is worthy,
of her consuming flame

Although she is unaware,
hers is a temporary sadness.
Happiness flirts at the edge of her dreaming,
waiting for an open window.
His shadow hidden behind frosted glass.

Shades of green,
turn brilliant yellow!
Buttercups dance around her feet.
Her laughter floats across the meadow,
as happiness runs to her open arms.

Together they skip, towards her apple tree.
For hers is a faith that trancends the temple.
Her spirit sought and found salvation.
He had been with her all along,
I can see it in her smile.
The rain has passed and sunshine now resides in her eyes!

Hearts mangled by grief
Lost in separate mazes
Cooking a half-hearted meal
A turn of the head, a quick glance
Trembling hands reach out
Right hand in left, a gentle waltz
to sweet soul sounds on the radio
We danced in the kitchen

Then hold your baby tight
Hold your baby so tight crying song
Swaying to Harold Melvin and the Bluenotes
"If-you-don't-know-me-by-now"
Tear soaked necks and shoulders
Melting into each other
Melting and blending into one
We danced in the kitchen

Oh how we danced
How we danced to the moon
How we danced to the dawn
How we danced in the kitchen

Sweet Jesus let it be so
Let it be so again
Let the music play on
Let us dance one last song
Let us waltz one last waltz
Let us dance in the kitchen

pink petals gaily gather
entice lovers strolling
fingers touch mittens vanish.

blushing halo canopy
highlights cool rosy cheeks
tiny buds whisper passion
newly awakened long sleep.

turquoise shyly taunting
button noses cold rub
lips plump part wanting.

kiss two hearts waltz
more kisses sweetest tune
cherry blossoms dance
sprinkle magic love blooms.

Last Dance by Darren White Oh be my heart for me when it stops beating, My lungs to breathe thin air still far too chill, My feet to dance the world while I’m still living As they still want but now no longer will. Be my two arms and tug me in our tango— Flamenco palo, wrap your wings around My lithe frame, chant me our concluding canto With all the strength in us you somehow found. Oh sit with me and reminisce those dances… Pure, perfect passion, smile and lift your head, Observe illuminated skies above you… We meet again, we’ll waltz soon in Atlantis. With you here, there is nothing that I dread, Do not be sad, this is not an adieu.
May I Have This Dance? My heart beats a steady rhythm Gale winds won't take my breath Your feet on top of mine can dance all ebullient And if your arms get tired, mine will hold your weight No wings here-I am mortal Let our spirits of freedom sate And soar across the heavens, through the Milky Way You are a bright lit candle-the flame will not go out For I am keeper of the lighthouse Scribing every nuance Your words shine so, mi Estrella Living words that sing and sway Sometimes rhyming, artful placing Every syllable is etched to stay So, light the path of your life’s passions Each word a heartfelt view Dance for everyone to follow-learn the beauty that is you.

Still in love,
with his eyes, he asks
(as the moon asks the earth)
for a dance, spinning
to music only we can hear.
Two become one in song,
as in the infancy of marriage -
newlyweds who danced, all for love.

With his eyes, he asks
(as the river asks the grass)
for a hand to hold, swaying
side-by-side over ages
of profuse weeds thick with lace,
and the sunflowers nearby droop
late in season, heavy with seed.
Before first snow, it is time
to teach our children to dance.
Love, we have learned, will carry on.

Still in love,
with my heart, I reply
(as the cherry blossoms answer the wind)
in a twirl of my floral skirt, growing
young again with a twinkle of hazel
skies shone bright in my eyes
and in a familiar smile.
He feels my warmth without seeing my face,
our union completed without words.

And so, we dance
from wedding day kiss and
one day, into bliss of heavenly light
(as the universe dances, eternally).
I write him a poem to thank him
for creating music with his love,
only our feet recognize.
Still joined in life, souls flow
through green, through our limbs,
down into our roots -
a dance to last through sun and storm,
feet in time forevermore,
all because he asked,
and still, I love him.

Clair de Lune filters
with wings
through graceful waves of air
in every raindrop ping
creating our symphony

      spin me a room
      weave me a rainbow
      be my shining diamond
      always holding me near
      play me, persuade me

Emerge in the window to my heart
holding strong same beliefs
pulling pirouetted dreams
a duet of two
roses blooming

      spin me a picture
      paint me a vivid view
raise me from rags to riches
      never throw me away
      lift me, kiss me

Come dance with me

Dance the tortuous path of love with me,
explore nuances of the different roads,
some snake upwards towards lofty thrills
others zigzagging downwards in despair.
Together though we can construe
a life exhilarating and true
as we wander together in wondrous ways
enjoy the beauty of a laudable life,
build a base to face the storms of love,
and like a sparkling mountain stream
face all the currents that cross our life.
Let us find comfort in each other's arms,
when grief crosses our meandering paths,
for the stream winds and turns
and a new page of life pleasantly begins
Let us laugh together at our mistakes
for in laughter we find strength
and ostracize despair from our love.

Dance of the Firebird

Rosita, sultry enchantress,
dazzling Andalusian firebird,
erotically she twirls, proud
like a phoenix flashing across the sky.

Flared ruffled skirt swirls,
in hues of red, orange, and gold,
like a sunset in the throes of Autumn.
Her olive skin glistens with sweat,
as she chases away her demons with
handclapping and a pair of castanets.

Beautiful dancer lost in her dreams,
she’s an exotic flamenco queen.
With campfires reflected on her face,
finger snapping, her tempo heats up,
and she’s afire with passion and grace.

In an essence of exuberance,
she’s possessed in a trance,
swaying like a summer breeze.
She undulates hypnotically like a cobra
seducing its unsuspecting prey.
In a stream of her own thoughts,
a gypsy in love with the dance.

Crushing red rose petals she stamps her feet,
to the guitars’ entrancing beat.
Her sinuous body pulsates sensuously
to the music as she dances unabashedly.
But she’s untouchable as the fire god she serves,
baring her soul to none,
for her heart belongs to the dance.

The libertine flails his torches
Burning staffs in his hands aglow
Golden sparks from the kindle beseech you
To dance on flames that he throws
For he is a man they call Passion
No soul has escaped what he's sowed

Good bye to innocence
Only embers are left where he's roamed
Good bye to innocence
We all dance on the coals he calls love.

He is the thief we call Ardor
He spins plumes of turquoise and gold
Challengers fall, all are smitten
By warm sultry nights and moon glow
Behind his mask love is yearning
To break free of seductions steel glove

Good bye to innocence
His restraints bind us coarsely entombed
Good bye to innocence
We will dance on the ruins he calls love .

Poets
Dreamers
We dream with eyes open
Manipulators of time and space

Masters of imaginary universes
Warriors
Lovers
Healers

Nothing is beyond our reach
Pen in hand
Heart allowed to flow free
Words the oxygen we breath

Dark
Hopeful
Philosophers of our day
Pointing the way
Wishing to be heard
Will others see beyond the words
To where the wisdom lay
We all have our roles to play

So yes we dream
With our open eyes
Hoping others realize
We don't wish to disguise
Yet sometimes hearts lie

If you look underneath
The metophor
You will find a key to the hidden door
In the end
Thats all we are asking for

In the sky less stars tonight But who needs shards of light when the sparkle in your heart ignites fire in the alley of my mind. I close my eyes, just to feel me swinging in your arms I trust to fall knowing you will hug me tightly as we dance Under a sky void of light, my sweet Psyche, my soul I keep your world upright. The darkness now bright, truth streaming from deep behind those wonton eyes. My heart has been ignited by the comfort of your mind as we dance

Unspoken words, whispers on the waves of the ocean,
Time memories create a world for our friendship to live in.
You always heard the echos of my soul,
The dance within the shadows.
Friendship wears many a face.
Bonds of time, an era long gone by, an imprint of a lifetime
What the heart does, the soul follows, it remembers.
Words are merely a cue sheet,
The stroke of the ink becomes the drumbeat of a song called life.
I remember you, the essence in the weave of life.
Across the distance of time, I wish I could have said what I wanted to you,
Though your life burned shortly in the sky, I remember.
These are the unspoken words,
There are so many unanswered questions, yet I know what happened.
I followed you in the years to come in your footsteps never knowing,
Your art would become the edit of words.
We all have our path.
You may have chosen to end your life with secrets.
The power and essence of you were will live in the fabric of my soul.
I shall remember the woman that made me laugh.
The dance that was once our friendship.
The era that was once your life.

He reached his fingers to the stars
 willed his legs to move
forced his head so far back
   that in his body's arc
    his dance's bridge
     allowed sunlight particles
      (elated faeries)
       to traverse

He saw his lean lithe body
     pirouette and position,
ran screaming from one side to the next
in a perpetual wish to catch
that last step, that last grand
 pointe, to capture small smiles
for infinity in his psyche

 He said adieu to his last dance;
  farewell to the music
   only his ears could capture,
goodbye to a world of ballet
     his choreography no longer
      visible, but still resonating
       in time and space where
        once he moved.

The day I found the butterfly in me,
I was changed forever to- delighted.
I found dancing where I could soar carefree,
the butterfly and me are so united, that
        we twirl and swirl blissful,
          we dip and fold gleeful,
             we fly up high cheerful,
                             optimistic,
        aphoristic,
               spiritualistic . . .
My dress is gauzy and purple feathery,
with butterfly I am ignited . .
entwined, we are one with wings filigree,
and when we dance I am happy excited.

Someone saw me dance
in the town's square
covered with white snow
around the decorated pine.

The lights blinked brightly,
pseudo parcels hang here and there,
music murmured muted carols
as midnight slowly neared.

On top of the pine, a star
was shining strong and silvery,
all around the branches green
tinsel sparkled joyously.

Beneath the tree, a manger stood
reminding me of days gone by,
when a poor couple arrived
at a small but crowded town.

There was no place for them.
The child was born in poverty,
in the town named after bread.
Is there a place for Him now?

Someone saw me, but went on
alone towards his dreams.
I danced unaided around the tree.

      Hands raise

My old bones sway to the old tune
bringing back memories long forgotten.
My spirit rejoices in exultation
of a ne'er forgotten loving excitation .
For you are my Dancing Queen.....
Oh how lovely the Abba sang....
How wondrously sensual the melody flowed.....

There you stood like a wallflower,
indifferent, lukewarm, nonchalant;
seemingly thinking on other things.
You drove me mad, my dancing queen,
you taunted me perilously, wretchedly.
How could I ever bear the teasing looks
you guardedly gave me, my lovely nymph.

I was dancing with some insipid teen,
definitely not having the time of my life;
my loving eyes piercing your sensuous curves
like Eros arrows hitting at random and at will.
Yet you looked on as if I was not there.
The music grew to a raw crescendo....
For you were my dancing queen
and suddenly I was madly in love with you.

I twirled, spun and tripped over you.
The music stopped, dancers gazed at me
a heartfelt pang as I lay sprawled at your feet.
A racking malaise stabbed my whole being
until I felt your strong hands help me up
steadying me, and leading me to a chair.
And you were only nineteen!!!
The music begun again, the old familiar strains
How nimble you could dance,
Oh how I yearn for that sweet moment
For you were my dancing queen......
You danced away while I stayed put
as my foot swelled with excruciating pain.
The euphoric dance came to a halt.

The lights went low.
You helped me to your waiting car.
I leant back, tired and abject
Until I felt your lips on mine;
the heavenly music began again...
yes, yes you are my dancing queen,
you will always be my dancing queen.

it's been a while since I last felt alone yet happy The sun dances in the sky, and I smile for such beauty only is of God At times I find myself deep in thought to a dreaming point even It's kind of funny that I hangout with my shadow it is my favorite poet A part of me who will not change it's heart towards my mind A romeo speaking of truth and beauty, a lover of women and whom they are Women the flowers of Gods garden, all with their own uniqueness I knew of love once, she promised her heart would never turn But just like that her heart not only turned but felt for another Words call and break on rooted feeling but dry on shallow ground She sprinkled color into my life, I lived only on black and white Good or bad, but she showed me hope and faith, how to dream Verses flowed and passion grew I loved her more than anything in the world I only feared not being at her side, death herself had no grip on me Events came to be that shaped today, everywhere I look she's absent I never got the chance to tell her from my soul I loved her A part of me died since I last seen her, yet I don't feel empty Memories of what once was still linger past my mind and heart Maybe someday I will cross her path again and I will smile Today she's happy and I stay away for she deserves this God given joy Because of what I once felt for her I died to her her long ago It brings tears to my heart that I too let my heart turn I once believed in true love yet my heart proves this otherwise in my spirit She once said you can love one without being with them I realize this true I don't know why I am writing of her, if all I feel for her is compassion I pray to never see her again, and even tho I run into her now and then I see her not All I see is a person, the woman I once loved so dearly got buried with my past Perhaps putting it all behind me for good is what is best Let the sun dance and my soul rejoice that my heart no longer feels but sees

Looked out my window,
and saw a wondrous sight
Two cardinals in flight,
aerial dancing
Perfect mid-air pirouettes,
spiraling higher and higher
Two winged bodies in motion as one
They reminded me of you and I,
my love,
when we danced on the clouds,
among the stars that night
We fell in love that night,
sky dancing with you was sheer delight
We felt light as a feather,
floating above the trees
Our eyes gazing into each other eyes,
falling in love, rising higher
on a summer breeze through the skies
We danced so close together
until the morning sunrise
Night turning into day,
as we danced the night away
I never wanted to come down that night,
wishing with all my might
we could dance in the air again
Today, I looked out my window,
and saw a beautiful sight ...
two love birds sky dancing
in the sunlight

Dance for me now ...

Eyes of polished onyx pierce me like the keen edge
Of a scalpel, deftly wielded ... the black blood of my

Heart flowing in and around you, warm and welcomed
To your wings, and the aspiration of our spirits ... air

Between us as still as ruin, while the world spins outward,
Ever ... calm coalescence in a realm of chaos ... airborne

And harmonious, sublime, if only ephemeral - if only
Once ... I am your vessel, awaiting, I am your barre,

To stretch and strain upon, I am the adoration in your
Hush, and the dark feathers of your plume, rapt in awe

By such immaculate and lithe form ... destroyed wholly
By the grace of your movements, and the exquisite finish

Of your line and flow 'en fouette', it is the anger and
Complete abandon in your expression that at once

Terrifies me and slays my spirit ... that brings all that
Is demoness to your passion, and all that is angelic to

Your ire ... spellbound by the dance, I fall into your
Shadow, and let your dark wings surround my delirium ...

An aphotic interplay of souls, a forbidden allurement of
Figures, a carnal and concupiscent 'Pas de deux' of fury ...

Dance for me ... now ...

I celebrate the nimbus clouds
stealthy gathering in a silent sky.
No great claps of thunder to shock
     my senses, no lightning bursts,
As the rain begins like tender tears
     then cascades in stormy sheets.

Let the rain seep deep into my cells,
     into my serene soul.
Let my passion grow until petrichor
     is all that I breathe.
Radiance of the sun soon filters
     through colored cotton clouds

Creating a rainbow in cool mist as,
     diamond drops dazzle
my adoring eyes, mirrors my joys,
     stills my hopeful heart.
My senses are glorified in the
     aftermath of the sudden storm.

Rivulets from tiny pools run free,
     sharing their sweet abandonment...
imbued and autumn hued.
     Winds morph into balmy breezes
and all is at equanimous ease
except my heart yearning for more.

*Note: We seldom have any thunder or lightning in our tropical storms which makes them pleasant encounters. Some of us dance in the rain because it isn't cold.
