A perfumed breeze with summer lavender Shapeless smoked clouds had come and gone Through verdant valleys I strolled along Honeycombed hues warmed the new dawn A golden butterfly glided in the distance I just stood still and watched his flight From one flower to another His flapped wings fluttered I could not let him out of my sight I wondered 'bout this blissful beauty. Towards the riverbank I watched him roam If I could only fly away with him to destinations always unknown Imagine what places he has been what many glories he has seen A perfect waterfall tumbling into a clear blue pond Wet dewdrops glimmering 'pon the grass as the sleepy sun starts to rise A doe with her fawn taking those fragile first steps bees buzzing by swarming back to their hive I watched in amazement in awe of his grace I floated along as he flittered away We hovered together through a path between twin lakes then and there I kissed him before he silently slipped away That's the last time I saw him cuz now stone towers have been built Nature's been destroyed and the butterflies have been laid to rest

These thoughts of mine do not behold
Let them soar high like wings befold

Observe them come then watch them go

I ain't nobody 's but my own

These arms of mine not to be bought
These lips of mine not to be sold
Nor is my mind to be possessed
or is this spirit to be undressed

Let me be me Just let me be

I ain't nobody's but my own

Do not preclude raindrops from falling
Through cascade paths I need to walk

I need to rest where children sing
Where gale winds shift against demands
Against each mountain and every glass jar
which traps these butterflies within my heart .

P.S: This is a fiction poem

O' Butterfly, a child, disgraced, was charmed without a chance Beguiled, exquisitely endowed with wings of fragile lace Such innocence would glaze her eyes, as gossamer might do To woo her far astray with words, of promised wedded bliss Travail would kiss the purest heart, then fill her soul with song She was a tree in blossom, softly charmed of spring and cultured lore disarmed with hope of tender leaves of which the leaves were tongues Lyrics filled the coldest night, no stars to right the wrongs But the moon wore shadows of the sins betrayed by western codes Her nature pure, as gentle rain, was as welcome as the sun Expressed in humble, reverent awe,......and eloquently sung A collector dressed in mock disguise…, without a thought or shame forgetful of her fragile ways, he caught her by surprise A uniform of chloroform, a smile that didn't warn A net, he held, along with schemes, a plot to win her hand then trapped her with a smile, and whims, a ruse of false intent With kisses spent, upon her cheek She flew into the bliss, with trust, a web of false retreat.... The deep abyss of love, she went, her heart upon her sleeve His promises, with no repent, pretense, though, never spent In his spell.....he said farewell, and kept the lies intact. Her frail wings pierced across the sky Her love impaled upon the seas Her voice would cry soliloquies Grief is leashed from midnight's tongue while east winds echo with her song… By death, the shame will cease

Butterfly Landings

It’s a precarious perch
High by a skydive
In such a leap of faith
A leap of love
Circumnavigates these boots of Earth
Fellow to the stratospheres
These butterfly landings
Of you in my heart

Destinies lance
Has shot me full to the sun
On the twirling chant sung
Ever re initiates
And sounds the river onward runs
Always
Of your name
Settles red iridescence
To tip the scales
These butterfly landings
Of you in my arms

I see you in precognitions
Flashes
In my obsessions of your hair
Lip-syncing to the kisses
In my passions of your eyes
Where my heady desires evolve
This molecular bonding’s
These butterfly landings
Of you inside my soul

It’s a precarious perch
To expressive to encapsulate
How much I love you
It’s a peculiar laugh
That admits I have never even met you
But all of you inexorable
I am conceded to the pull
I am bound to the groundings
In these butterfly landings
Of you

( Everything I am
  Everything I do
  Wrapped inside
  Those landing butterflies
  I cannot express
  In any vocabulary of words
Only in the dictionary of unspoken eternals
  Lay the definitions of

  How much I love
  How much I need
  How much I want

  You

  They beg with you
  This man on bended knees
  How this strength in me
  Pleads

  Come back to me

  Come back to me )

~The Butterflies Dance~ (A Double Whitney) The sun is so warm and nice there is cheer everywhere cause spring has sprung one more time and winter so cold is now gone. The robins have returned and the hibiscus and the roses bloom again to my delight Now I see butterflies dance. Dorian Petersen Potter aka ladydp2000 copyright@2012 January.27.2015

I pursued a butterfly through the woods.
It fluttered, just always beyond my reach.
The more I pursued, the more it teased.
Stalking it, like prey, it just fluttered away.
I found a moss covered log to rest,
Sitting in a serene, secluded spot.
A butterfly came ,sat upon the log.
I caught it in the palm of my hands.
It's wings became a rapid flutter,
Trying to escape my grasp.
I opened my hands , freeing it.
If we pursued things in life,
They become unattainable.
If we sit quietly and reflect,
they become attainable.
Chasing our dreams may be
as allusive as the butterfly.
Finding them as beautiful as the butterfly.

I look through my prism
Still I can not see
All of your vibrant colours

I wish for the beauty of a sunrise
To see the brilliance of flowers blooming
Bright blue sky and emerald waters
The colours of fall leaves
I want a rainbow symphony
To hear and see your complete majesty
For my eyes to dance with your flitting wings

The magnificence of you
is isolated behind a wall of dark grey
A protective layer of granite
Cold to the touch
Unyielding

I chip
searching for cracks
I tap out a cryptic message
Hoping you will understand
You guide me to the entry way
past the sentinels
Down the corridors
To your banquet hall
Where now I celebrate
Marvel at the brilliance of you
I see
I hear
I feel
Each colourful note

My prism
had been inadequate to the task
Your wings spread across my imagination
Oh so many vivid colours
Colours a rainbow can't possibly articulate
Other butterflies would look anemic next to your splendour
Diamonds would lack clarity and brilliance
As I gaze at your form
I try to comprehend
the magnificence of you
I marvel at perfection
You light upon my shoulder
and give me butterfly kisses
My heart is overjoyed
for in that moment I have
a glimpse of paradise!

As I stood in my garden amongst my flowers,
       a parade of blue butterflies was drifting;
past my lovely brilliant primrose rock garden,
they kissed a purple cornflower growing.

They stopped and caressed rainbow painted daisy,
      drifting over to drooping bleeding hearts;
resting on white campania with their trumpets,
like sparkling garden gems quietly hovering.

Blue larkspur and columbine called for them,
      the tiny rubies twirled over in a waltzing dance;
and between yarrow, sage and yellow tick seed,
they spotted echinacea and came fluttering.

Floating on over they kissed orange scabiosa,
      then the assemblage of sweet butterflies left;
just stopping for a quick sip of fountain water,
and gone this parade of fluttering blue gems.

The house was full
Of Gods and deities
The curtain call was soon
The water vasos were poured
And became the finest of wines
The bread multiplied
The baker you see
Was a part time magician
The fishermen all relaxed
As I saw fish fall from the skies

Ra was there
Oh my the tan on him, poor harif
Huitzilopochtli glared at his competition
Toth and Horus with godly grins
God himself was there
The door man didn’t check id's though
A few came with the same name
If they paid their gold coins at the doors
Of Godly entertainment
In they came

Thor arrived like a bolt of lightening
The Greek gods exposed as fakes
Trumpets of false prophecies
Sessions and courts left to fate
For dereference we let them in for a beer, ok two!
The other Gods chuckled as they sneered
Even Batman showed up!!!
He wasn’t a god, but he had good connections
Allah was there, 4 cows, Shiva and Ganesha
Rama and Agni were even holding hands
The house was full of Gods
Jesus Christ showed up late
Hippies do that you know
Funniest of all was the Holy Ghost
He tried to sneak in with Casper
Hashem and Galmi came, they got discounts on the tickets
You all get the point
Bacchus charming the ladies with his wine
As Thalia ecaaped the wrath of Pan
She smiled for she new Galileo a charming man
The house was full of Gods!

The Norse gods resilient in beauty
Freya as captivating as ever
She had an eye on me
As I, on her
In charge of the curtains indeed a blessing
When a Goddess requests a stage hand like moi
Drapes of passion conceal the lust of biblical ways

The curtains rose as the headliner appeared
The Gods all rose and clapped
As Galileo the Great comedian walked in
He shouts out! "Did you hear the sun that travels around the earth?"
Well the sun got tired, so last week the earth decided to spin around the sun!
The crowd roared, I mean that was so ridiculous as to be funny.
The he goes, 2 dummies and the pope walk in to a bar......
Well the gods may have loved him........

The Pope did not take kindly to be called a dummy
He was Urban and mundane but held to his heart his earthly disdain
For the comedian called Galileo
Banishment, the paradise of many a great
Intellectuals
Arrested for using their intellectual credentials

The masses of the unread
Followers of the ones shouting hate at the mountain head
Rush , rush rush we must condemn
This comedian from earth’s very very dark end

The Comedy do you all see?
I am God
You are all the holy sea
From Galileo all the way to Galilee

On clear bright days I catch a glimpse
Of what is a rare and beautiful sight.
Endangered, once feared to be lost to time
A gem to the butterfly world.
The Monarch making a brave return
Bringing to me a smile on beating wings.
Timeless beauty wrapped in a silk cocoon
Free to flutter where the wind goes.
Dancing on air without missing a beat
Enchanted by your beating heart.
Knowing I have seen rare beauty.
On more than one occasion you have come,
Like the rainbow that comes by.
Peeking through the clouds, around corners.
Reminding me on several occasions,
To follow inspiration, to keep chasing rainbows.
To fly on butterfly wings.

For P.D., who constantly inspires...

Always inside living thoughts
Once held a vision adoring thee
Beholding beams though these eyes
Star spangled one look totally breathless

This heart's calling your name precious
Together uniting strengths join within power
Making hopes and dreams come alive
Saying onto myself breathtakingly gorgeous

Adding this truly wonderful music
Into the soul princess cut deeply singing tunes develop
In every echo out of this world
I wish to retake the perfect soft breath held
Melting golden feelings burning gasps warmly sigh

Why do I love you so
Wearing the glass slippers
Fragile as a newborn butterfly taking flight
In all the flowers freshly plucked
Standing out most beautiful

A diamond rose stunning dewdrops sparkle
Touching, kissing, loving you forever more
Holding someone special always showing them
how deeply appreciated they are

Fireworks display our passion to share
in a world filled promise
Conveying the love inside each tiny seed
picking you one precious gem

Your words are sparkling wine
your presence divine
Your beauty makes me comfortable dizzy
Intoxicating drunken in anything you wish
becomes the soul command
In the distance ~ the dying sun forever sleeps with you one dream obeys

Soft walls undulate like liquid steel
Metamorphic pulsations
Iridescent glow
Spiritual guides
Ushering departed souls

Rippling contractions
From cocoon-like womb
Bringing forth new breath
Replenishing blown out candles
Eyes scrunched
Painful cry
Drowned out by the rustling
One thousand butterflies taking flight

Soaring
Luminescent
Snowflake-like beings
Spreading their light

Within the night
Eternity is born
A baby raises his tiny fists
Mother's tears turn to joy
Floating heavenward on delicate wings
Announcing
Beating
Singing
A child is born

Butterflies worried for their marriage inviting friends, with paused tune. Let us rush to Laila Garden, to enjoy the decoration arranged by spring the fragrance, main dish of party served by pleasant wind. Come with me to bless the couples. I'm a
Swedish beauty
Born in
poverty
With eyes
so green
And cheek bones
so high
You wonder
at the structure
Of DNA gone by
My hair is silk
running through
the breeze
And
If you touch it
your fingers wil
slip through it
My skin is tan
with freckles
woven in
and my smile
is white
with straight teeth
to look apon
at moons delight
and my body is
purely a sight
with small beasts
upturned and
inviting
saying please
look apon me
you will be enlightened
a tastely morsel
created by a
heavenly light
and hips curved
just oh so right
You'll need a road map
for your hands to drive
the feeling of being with
a sensation so powerful
how can you walk by
oh.... my baby you will
not leave my side
because my
 Swedish beauty
will hold you
forever to your side
come to me baby
I'll be your guide
showing you
just what I like

Back at you baby. Dedicated to Ezell Dazh.

Once a caterpillar between a dream and reality thought she could be beautiful
~so on she dreamed...
Creating a shell to protect
under the bright new moon

The Cocoon~

Inside she wept
Yet,
A fantastic fantasy of what she would some day be,
The very colors of life upon the the Earth as she struggled to crawl
A slow progression; every day she saw

in a mirrored shell

She dreamed her colors, she connected with divinity
as her memory recalled the sky so blue, the warm sunlight
To the very hope to one day fly
What color? her imagination touched God's heart

One day she emerged through the darkness, the seclusion,
The shell now out grown...she pushed her eloquent wings through
Standing upon a cracked open cocoon,
her wings tested the winds of kindness ~
~ ~
~ ~
Her first flight, she the Miss, fluttering about without direction or care, enjoying the Summer air~
   ~ ~
~
The flowers sent scent to comfort, to rest there, she;
in awe of her wings, the colors, they were just as she dreamed!

God Smiled~

I heard of a human tell of her beauty, then suddenenly became sad
Not for the glory upon, but the time as her flight would expire

Yet, tell me, what is time to a butterfly?

When time itself is calculated by man and the stars...
Yes, she and I know the majestics of God's creation that some take for granted

As the stars shine tonight
I think of the butterfly's flight
I know all is right
I know mans's calculations are right
But, somehow, it is not a sadness
but courage spilled upon the Earth
of the butterfly's rebirth from a worm

I, in all that I am can relate
I embrace, know her way
Once a worm as I, now my colors motivate my flight

Life is so short~

The day I found the butterfly in me,
I was changed forever to- delighted.
I found dancing where I could soar carefree,
the butterfly and me are so united, that
        we twirl and swirl blissful,
          we dip and fold gleeful,
             we fly up high cheerful,
                             optimistic,
        aphoristic,
               spiritualistic . . .
My dress is gauzy and purple feathery,
with butterfly I am ignited . .
entwined, we are one with wings filigree,
and when we dance I am happy excited.

If I were a butterfly... Your yard might be the place to fly. I'd flap my wings and fly all day. From tree to tree...I'd bounce my way. I'd ride hot puffs of air Like a roller coaster at the fair... Like a schooner on the ocean's waves... I'd soar and swim the sky all day. And when your children came to play... I'd dance about their noses. They'd laugh and chase And then I'd hide...safely in the roses. I'd perch among the sharpest thorns, My wings...the roses to adorn... Tomorrow I might float and soar... Visit neighbors yards next door. And when my flying day is done... And I am finished having fun... I'll float and flutter back through space... Your garden ...still my favorite place.

There she sits, a "Black Bird on a wire"
On wings repose "she sings of light"
 "Broken People" gather beneath her
People who have seen the "Faces of Storm"
Accused, Yet "guilty of innocence"
I become an "Unaware Witness"
"Forever by your side" I will remain
Perhaps you can teach me "the art of understanding"
For you let the "Butterfly Rise" with grace
One of many "miraculous secrets"
After all these years "I am still waiting"
Searching for answers "behind cryptic doors"

I sit in the silence of "Solitude's Embrace"
Leaving me with more "Observations of ponder"
The dark was such a "Seductive Predator"
Why do I feel alone, is it a symptom of "my lacking"?
You my dear Blackbird- you are "Prettiness Defined"
"The Sowing" yours, it defines you.
"Yesterday you were my Garden"
Together we discussed many "painstaking views"
I remember taking a breath, "bewildered of all you emanate"
"Black Bird on a wire" tell me your secrets!
As I look into your eyes, our "hearts converse"
"I want to know" am I really here?
A"Midnight Butterfly" Beating my wings for you
"Make Love to Me"

Let us fly to the sky, "Discovering Forever"
On our way to "a reachable happiness".

A butterfly fluttered into my space
And tried to lite upon my face.
The beautiful creature had no fear
And kissed me softly on the ear.
As delicate and tender as she was,
she whispered to me with no fuss.
Sharing the wonders of her life
She made me smile for just a while.
A sweet spring flower to brighten my day.
Careful flight my friend, I pray....

Inspired by a Art gallery and a poem by Shelly.

A room full of mottled multicolored butterflies
captured within a creative space
of artful design
to inspire and aspire
Flirt and flutter a delicate ballet
among the pot plants
A splash of color
an oasis
among a drab row of urban gray
The door is opened
and the butterflies are released to freedom
flying high above
lush green trees
in clear unblemished skies
floating like autumn fallen leaves
in a gentle breeze
painted Ladies
that rested on my heart for a while
and made it smile
bringing pleasure to my eye
A symbol of freedom and eternity
filling my dreams
with all the treasures of summer.

Dance
Between the granite stones
Of the dead
Long ago last breaths do part
Memories seeping in dirt
Black birds and magpies
Lace and knots
Lingering thoughts
Swaying too and fro
Insane

Dancing
On top of the dead
Lover is all but gone
Butterflies shown
That life flies on
As shadows rest
Upon ones breast

Butterflies Are Free…
(For Karma Nurisha Wa Kupenda)

I touched a butterfly;
It flew away
Free:

Soaring
Into the gentle breeze.

Through the prism of my tears,
Rainbows caressed the skies:

I miss you
And cherish
The cocooned years.

You wanna know what I think?
I think you 're a bit confused
Don't you know it's late in the year?
Don't you know it's nearly dark too?

But your velvet and black-green wings
fan and rest upon my bare back
and it tickles! Now you're on my forearm
I think you like me. Off you go now...

Here I lie beside you
My heart goes thump.thump.thump.
My soul dances inside you
Reveling in the texture of your own.
Electric and flowing
The currents of our love
Glow like neon lights
Illuminating the hope in my eyes.
Though we're not moving
I feel so incredibly alive
Invincible to my past
Untouchable by all who lack
That gentle touch of when
You lean in and brush my face
Your lips grazing my skin
Softer than a butterfly.
And then you gaze into my eyes
I fall into your depths
Twirling like the autumn leaves
Melting into your smile
Your soul reminiscent of summer.
You pull me into your arms
And for a moment I'm lost
Breathless and in awe
Staring in the face of pure exquisite love
And there you are - holding it
Glowing in the moonlight of my stare.
My heart beats - its drum pounding away
Echoing a song thats lost its words
I touch your cheek and smile
My hands cant stay away
My lips s l o w l y, draw near yours
Hovering, and then -
Part, a soft warmth against them.
My eye lids pulling shut
Dragging me into a silent heaven
I pull away - and what seemed millennia
Lasted only a moment, a second in time
But this is our love
This is what you do to me
You make me invincible and fragile
Lost forever in a beautiful reverie.

I always dwelled on my faults my shortcomings never saw the beauty others saw hidden beneath the insecurity falter in search of validation from the things and people that would never mean a thing trying to hide until that day it was easier to face the truth or maybe not easier just a time where running away and cheating myself ripped through the core of everything that is me you come to a point where lying to yourself is not second nature anymore trapped in a space where you know it’s time for change it’s time to take the blindfold off time to embrace you and not what others see, not look for gratification from outside try to feel within, even if it means having to deal with pain in the now instead of chucking it away and bounce around on an emotional see-saw

Spontaneous ladies,
embellished by eons,
illusive, enchanting,
with black velvet "eyes,"
and fringed yellow cloaks,
sparkling with diamonds
at midnight and dawn,
Oh, fly me away from
my grey-flooded days,
from the four-lane race
and the file drawer maze.
Fly me away from
the chain of the clock
and the sink of necessities.
Bring me in spirit
to magical rendezvous,
to dance by the glint
of the moon on the marsh,
hiding from fireflies,
nudging antennas.

BUTTERFLIES OF BEAUTY Silent songful wanderer, soaring free on the sky conquering, unafraid to the golden rays of the sun, fluttering either slow or fast, their colors show like stemless flying flowers: red, orange, browns unto gardens, rainforest, fields and prairie lands off they are! From early morning until the night, their quiet optimism: a lighthouse to any hopeful delicate in beauty emerging from chrysalis womb. Standing in each tooth-tip spot, they're like ballerinas dancing and pausing as they do in lows and highs: kissing blossoms curves for goods - a peaceful move freezing and feeding effortless some onlookers eyes. Seduced fingers reached to touch, glad most are missed. Free. The majestic monarch is flying again, high. HIGH! Such a natural canvass painted to every stop and flight, beguiling more dreamers today, tomorrow and beyond... ______________________________________________________ Poetry Contest: BUTTERFLIES OF BEAUTY ***1st Place*** Sponsored by: Mystic Rose Written January 10, 2016 @ 11:27 am

Floating in the air
Wavering in the breeze
Butterflies,
land with ease
(in my stomach as I read)....

Such passion,
such beauty
In the summer air
It's all around me
(when you are near ~so on I read)....

distinguishing you
and oh, my heart skips
to the tune
so much different
(with admiration I find
the butterflies.... the beauty) deep inside.....

Velvet, satin,
plain or platinum
Touching the degree
in which you speak to me
(where once upon I time,.... were butterflies).....

Yet I am still a worm,
trying so hard to be
beautiful in your sight
I crawl so willingly
(Yet beauty in distinction)

Free and falling

from the midnight air

into the great unknown

of the atmosphere ~
the flight (metamorphosis) of the butterfly ~

Butterfly
painted lady
spread your wings

Thighs of color
pose your love

I light
candle flame
for you
I am
consumed by fire

Since my house
has burned down
I can see
the moon more clearly

I gaze upon
your Eden
falling upon me

I run blindly
to you
as you mount
flowers
in my garden

As I hold you
in my arms
do not
let me feel
your departure
upon my hand...
