Victory Scar

Victory Scar

That long line still shows.
Thirty years a part of me;
precancer they said.
Hysterectomy so young;
lifesaving victory scar.

No turning back

A Mothers Meditation

I taught her better.
I didn’t want this for her
She’s followed my tracks
Look at her, life is ruined
She knows not what she’s done

	The Daughters Disposition

	Wow, what did I do?
I can’t bear the pain she flaunts
	Her disappointment…
Stings… like a swift kick inside
What on earth was I thinking?

A Teen Dad’s Train of Thought

Did I? I didn’t!
It wouldn’t have felt as good…
She took the pill right?
What if, she was with other guys?
What do I tell my parents?

"Studies and surveys of young teen males show they are worried the pleasure
experienced during intercourse will diminish with the use of a condom."

She battles fatigue
by road climbing and painting
bolder palettes splash
on flamed wigs, on glossed canvas…
with punk, outracing mad cells

Monster tissues grow
yet lust for life soothes barbed pain
caroling to stars
and praying 'neath hopeful moon...
“I bless unforgiving C. ”

Past  stage 1, she jousts;
vicious fibers lose the chase
her zest, not anger
conquers lymph nodes' erosion…
scaling roads, painting fresh scenes!

For dear friend Eena who is in remission;
may you live fully!

Love You

total enchantment
the time I shared here with you
long past the times, few
sometimes I feel the cancer
is in us both not just you

A perspective of Cancer

Dread news silent face
She turned her eyes to heaven
Sharing earth's sad waste
Fear choking the unspoken
The prayer howls for fresh grace

Time crumbles heavily now
She waits diseased, and unbowed

Sister gone, I still
In love recalls wound and strength
That savaged our will
I bore most who loved you most
In weakness trembling my thoughts

How sin could wrought upon us
This dire malady in dust
I offer you all
A hand who tremble to bare
The indignant gall
Of cancer flooding our stare
A dear in the headlights glare

I tremble with you, its all
Each is alone gainst this wall.

This Moment

I love a good beat,
By far the best sound around
is your soft heartbeat,
My own chaos would begin
if that rhythm ever stopped.

The Monster Who Ate Her Chest

she opened her gown
to show me a flaming scar
something was missing...
the knife should have cut deeper
disease still raged underneath

a young life wasted
back in nineteen fifty five
a mother and wife
whose white skin turned yellow from
the monster who ate her chest

Three Gifts

I asked Santa Claus
for three gifts in my stocking,
for health, wealth and love.
He left enigmatic note
inside a pretty ornament.

Herein find your key
to opening wanted gifts
of wealth, health and love.
Love is in your heart to share.
Share and love will come to you.

You were born with health.
Following the good health rules
strictly up to you.
Now with love and health assured
you have your wealth… signed Santa

reluctant to sleep
your days going by so fast
many friends have seen their last
oh god those mortuaries!

must watch one’s diet
if it tastes good don’t try it
bland to the taste
sweet things are seldom healthy
each day you measure your waist

obesity fear
daily on television
“our very worst year”
diet a hard decision
choice to live a few more years

The sleep I desire
is for resting of the mind.
The sleep I desire
will happen when I am tire.
The sleep I desire is now.

Three Christmas Desires

Happy Santa Day
Here’s my short list of desires
I wish complete peace
My wish came true this very morn
My tree held exquisite cross

My second wish now
No more greed upon the earth
At the stroke of noon
Golden abyss circled world.
Tree had a smiley face bulb.

As this day ended
My third wish for no hunger
Became abundant
A note found, said "down-to-earth".
My tree now bore so much fruit.

I am

without a denial
life is brief and sticky sweet
tobacco claims me
ingested, it now eats me
still, it draws me, my lover

malformed cells heedless
spread diminishing myself
imploding, anxious
still I rise blessing, loving
cancer is not me, I am

The Horrid Truth

She is one that hurts For she was one that was made Fun of during this Time of the year, Halloween Was not kind to her, she hurts A witch she’s just not Nor is she a Frankenstein She is not a bat Nor a skeleton is she She doesn’t fit in right now Though all the other Days of the year, she’s a freak Different person Nature has played a cruel joke And she hurts from within her So on the day at Which she could fit in the most She abhors with pain For it just reminds her of Her ailment, the horrid truth

bodies fall weary
cancer metastasizes
another friend gone
funerals leave tears of bronze
survivors shine in shadows

faces fall weary
cancer metastasizes
no one is immune
the spirit strengthens through trials
survivors shine, smiles bring hope

A true psychopath,
Cancer thrives on victims’ fears,
Remorseless, it kills
Old men, women and children
And stabs young men in the back.

Some of their breast must
be removed....hoping cancer
won't return to haunt;
chemotherapy and pills for pain,
will a breast implant look real?

It's incurable
as Aids, if not caught early;
yes, death may occur...
tearing visitors apart
who can do nothing to help.

The patients suffer
silently seeking comfort;
offer them more than
consolation by squeezing
their cold hand before they die.

rampant and deadly
eating up the red blood cells,
leukaemia on course,
Fatigue,pain,profuse sweating,
uncontrollable symptoms.

It has many sibs
all with pure killer instincts,
one attacks prostate,
others the breast,skin and brain,
scientists in prolonged battle.
