Which way leads to the
land of green white
green?
Which way are we
heading?
   A country the wicked
bears the rulership, and
the people sighing
continuously.
   A terrible thing sprouts
beneath the sun: a
pregnant woman
delivering not.
Imps come to lime-light
by snuffing air from the
goose that laid the
golden eggs.
The blind guiding the un
blind.
The weak suppressing
the strong-a terrible
thing.
Like the overthrow of the
gods at Mt. Olympus by
the Titans.
A country where also
thieves appear as men of
integrity.
Land of green white
green,which way?
A land where the
enlightened ones are
overshadowed and
peanuts given to them.
The masses are dogs that
eat the crumbs.
 Which way to go you
Land?
Iliterates stand on
podium of power
bellowing orders as milk
of sorrow known as
dividends of democracy
is passed around.
The machine of progress
manned by the
unproductive.
"There is better
tomorrow" we hear.
Land of green white
green,my country
where rule of law walk
beside anarchy.
The proles are sentenced
to adversity,and there
endured death-like trials.
Chai! Aru! People
dancing on thorns
whimpering as they
throng
along.
I see a new sun rising
from the horizon,hope is
rekindled as its rays
grace on hopeless bodies.
 Look!! there soon be
change!

Note:
This
is
poem
full
of
Nigeria
political
 angst.

We welcome the sun
We welcome the sun

A gleaming sunrise is seen in the distance – shedding relief
Bursting forth like fireworks in the dark blue sky
Hues of beauty and sincerity washes away our grief
The cheery clouds come together like lovers embracing one another

I’m never waving goodbye

It’s so surreal… and magnificent to see this scene unfold
You lift up the sparkling light… you’re an angel from up above
It’s so vibrant – the illuminated sight never dulled
You bring us luck and excitement –

You’re as pleasant as a dove

We welcome the sun
We welcome the love
We welcome the sun
We welcome the sun
To omit the darkness
To abolish the distress
To conceal the darkness
And reveal the halo
Hovering around your head
Burning away the dread
We welcome the sun
We welcome the sun
We welcome the sun

An ocean of love is rubbing against my feet
Blankets of comfort embrace me now… our love will never dry
You treat us with reverence and I repeat –
You’re as pleasant as a dove – taking wing from on high
We welcome the sun in the morning
We welcome the sun with open arms
We welcome the sun
We welcome the sun
We welcome the sun
We welcome the sun

A speedy breeze is whistling in my ears
Spiraling mad like a spinning top
Spiraling mad with all of its might
You’re very intriguing – you casted away our fears
Your gorgeous eyes
Project bright green and blue
You’re special in His sight
He welcomes you
We welcome the hope
We welcome the sun
We welcome the sun
We welcome the sun
To lighten up your load
And lead you to the mercy road
Where you and I will escape to paradise
To drive out all of the negativity
To conceal the wretched farewells
To reveal the light in goodbye

We welcome the sun
We welcome the sun
We welcome you
With open arms

Since love came along, the ghost of a song
constantly haunts my soul.
The rhythm is sweet, but words incomplete
leave the story untold.
The words try to say, with me you'll stay
until forever is gone.
Expressions unheard leave my senses stirred
by the rhythm of your song.

The rhythm of your song
is sweet and oh, so strong.
It's no miracle the words are never heard.
Somewhere between the beat
and the words, still incomplete,
there's a feeling that forgives the missing words.

The rhythm is there, it seems so unfair
for the words to hide from the beat.
My heart holds a fear I'll never hear
your words make the song complete.
Love will endure and, one day I'm sure
the phrases will come along
to join with the beat and render complete
the meaning of your song.

The rhythm of your song
is sweet and oh, so strong.
It's no miracle the words are never heard.
Somewhere between the beat
and the words, still incomplete,
there's a feeling that forgives the missing word

Lift the wailing wood
Hammer the tortured nails
Place the ghostly steps
Below the battered rails

Invite those crazy strangers
Dressed in stranger clothes
Join the mighty miracle
Ready to unfold

Building a stairway
In the desert
Aimed toward the pure and honest sky
Building a stairway
In the desert
Going to rise for miles
And miles

Leave this evil town
Where scorpions share your bed
Guilty snakes make a home
Deep inside your head

The bleeding sun
Burns your feet
Hangmen joke
Beggars weep

Buried bodies
Cry for help
Undertakers
Steal your wealth

Building a stairway
In the desert
Aimed toward the pure and honest sky
Building a stairway
In the desert
Going to rise for miles
And miles

We’re laughing and
We’re dancing
In the desert
Dancing in the desert
Of our lives

Can’t you see?
We’re dancing in the desert
Dancing in the desert
Of our lives

Feel so free
Dancing in the desert
Dancing in the desert
Of our lives

Free….so free
In the desert
Dancing in the desert
Of our lives

Lift the wailing wood
Hammer the tortured nails

Song of Life

You and me, me and you,
Every morning is sweet and new,
Love sublime and fresh as dew,
You and me, me and you,
You and me, me and you,

You and me, me and you,
Fortunate and blessed we are,
Precious our love, joy our life,
You and me, me and you,
You and me, me and you,

You and me, me and you,
Dreamers we are, yet living to full,
Not letting go and holding on still,
You and me, me and you,
You and me, me and you,

You and me, me and you,
Deeper the bond, shorter the life,
No worries, and no strife,
You and me, me and you,
You and me, me and you,

You and me, me and you,
All songs I wanted to sing,
Oh the melody, you added a zing,
You and me, me and you,
You and me, me and you!

Oh don't let go,
You and me,
Oh don't let go,
You and me,
Just a little blow,
Me and you,
Just a little blow,
Me and you,
Live to your full,
Come sing with me,
Live to your full,
Come sing with me,
Life is a miracle,
God's greatest miracle !

I still see those flashes
I see you in my dreams
See all this is for you
I see you in those mountains
They too see you afar
You shine brighter on the sea
I and you were meant to see
The reality on your open bosom
You make the eyes glow like stars
Before is where I have been
It is those moments I miss
But now only shades hug me
It is those shades that comfort me
It is funny how thoughts run
They make you mine alone
Maybe this is a mischief
But it’s a game either
A mistake that bonded our crystal ball
A crystal that reveals our future
I shall leave in this future with you.

Spring was a darkness bliss
Summer was a rage to find the truth
When fall came and the eclipse was out
I closed my eyes...
I think I just needed some time.
I think I just need some time to cry over you.
When winter came, I sang a Taylor's swift song about a flower I never got.
I drove around way too much looking at places I had already seen
I guess you could say I took a ride.

The lightning flashed and the seasons changed
A world to be
A world to know
My strength revealed
The flip of the coin

Spring was a blissful wind
Summer gave truth to see the light
When Fall came and my son was born
It sure made life a whole lot clearer

A bliss it was to see his eyes staring back at me.
When winter came
I had to watch you walk away and sing Foo Fighter's song, "Learning to Walk Again" song remembering it was me who gave you flowers in those December months.
I drove around and looked at places I had never seen
I guess you could say I took a joyful ride
I stopped crying over those flowers I never got

I think I just needed some time
I think I just need some time to let you walk away

The thunder roared and the seasons changed
A world to be
A world to know
My strength renewed
The flip of the coin strength revealed the seasons of time
The flip of the coin
It sure made life a whole lot clearer.

{Verse-1}
This road that we live on
Is filled with deep emotions
It's littered and so far gone
With many little hearts feeling blue
It hurt as she lay dying
from the knots we were tieing
But all her pain is gone
The pain of the cancer she went through

{Chorus}
When she cried at night
And thought I couldn't hear her
She tried to hide the pain she had inside
Then I prayed to the heavens up above
To send down that miracle light
To take away the pain from the one I love
'Cause It hurt me deep inside
To watch her cry

{Verse-2}
She always felt so happy here with me
And when her family told her she should leave
She winked and smiled and said to believe
That it was her who had to live with me
So I'll never forget her beautiful smile
And the love that we shared a little while
Before the cancer took away her touch
And robbed me of the wife I loved so much

{Chorus}
When she cried at night
And thought I couldn't hear her
She tried to hide the pain she had inside
Then I prayed to the heavens up above
To send down that miracle light
To take away the pain from the one I love
'Cause it hurt me deep inside
To watch her cry

(This I wrote while remembering how my wife's Grandfather died of cancer)

There is no song that sings the words I feel.
No poem with words that describe the butterflies you awakened
That keep my heavy heart lifted above my lungs.
No song makes me breathe like your voice.

I search, believe you me,
But the thousands of words that reverberate through my cranium
Can never define the recreation of my soul you began
Before you held my hand and showed me how to make me...me.

No chord hits the note of your angelic sigh
Or the sleepy snort of laughter through your (perfectly constructed) nose.
Bach, Beethoven, nor Mozart could quite pin the grace
That was used when creating everything that escapes from you.

No chisel tinking tirelessly against flawless marble
Was ever successful in piecing together your perfect imperfections.
No Christian in a pew ever knew of the praise and worship spent
Over your sun-kissed skin and eyes full of wisdom surpassing your youth.

Yet here I am, a girl with a heart made of lead and rusted nails
In love with an angel with x-ray vision disguised as earth-brown eyes.
He never minds that his wings may get tired, or his halo may be dulled
While we make those songs we yearn for ourselves.

Hymn (there wasnt a hymn option in the form list)
CM (common meter, 8,6)
dedicated to my grandfather who used to teach Sunday School.

Your Awesome Splendor, Mighty Lord,
sustains all time and place.
Let us devout with cherubs sing:
"Behold! Your Wondrous Face!"

Announce to us Your Shakeless Love
that sin cannot erase.
Let he that's wronged and needs You still
behold Your Wondrous Face!

Please, hearken with each prayer, or cry
with fingers interlaced.
Let all, throughout the world that stings,
behold Your Wondrous Face!

You made us all in Likeness-fair
with Your Resplendant Grace.
Let those in doubt the Angels bring.
Behold your wondrous face.

Consider the magic
Consider the wonder
Consider the hearts you touch with your sound

Creating the power
Creating the music
Reaching the crying soul, longing to be found.

Open your heart
Lift up your voice
Join with us in unity and song!
Reach out your hand
Lift up your head
Together, our music will be strong!

Sing to the one who’s filled with sadness
Sing to the one who’s filled with cheer
Like a hug, a kiss, a hand to hold
Give them warmth that they can hear.

Think of the weary
The long journey home
Think of the one who needs you most today

Consider the magic
Consider the music
Give the gift of all you have to say

Open your heart
Lift up your voice
Join with us in unity and song!
Reach out your hand
Lift up your head
Together, our music will be strong!
