At first you’re free to spend your days
To roam the earth, if wealth obeys.
Choose not to do those daily tasks
Instead, out in the sun to bask.
Each day as new adventure’s sought
Regret seeps in, you really ought…
To do something more with each year
To waste time is your greatest fear.
As you slow down thoughts will unfurl
What mark did you make on this world?
A new path lays before you now
To make life matter, you must vow…
“I will not stop. I’ll carry on
Until my final breath is drawn”

A fisherman can no longer stand
Going out to sea, no longer grand
At first, he sits and longs for the sea
And thinks “Life is over for me”
But then one day he picks up his knife
A piece of soft wood, gives it a swipe
Suddenly he sees a form take place
A passion forms, life becomes a race.
Now he rises each day with a drive
Thoughts overflow, he feels so alive
Surrounded by his works on the shelf
Proud of them all, so proud of himself.
One passion was lost, another found
He’s building a new life with resound.

Sonnet for Dr Izabela
From Baltic coast you ventured on a quest
As England's forebears came in ages past
From Hanseat haven voyaged to the west
But not in conquest save perhaps of hearts
You brought no strife but tender love and care
Armed only with your knowledge and your skill
And these you plied with wisdom all too rare
To many who admire and prize them still
You played your role with warmth, charm and grace
Time never seemed to want when in your presence
One felt safe, reassured while in that space
With such endowments that were of your essence
So take with you our blessings and our prayers
And we will keep your memory through the years

No, never retired,
Zooming down life's highway
With Jesus, the Life, the Truth, the Way
We've given our pact
To serve God with more tact
So make a "peep" and we'll find you
Multitudes, not just a few
Take a deep gulp of Living Water
Be refreshed, never falter
Receive the joy of salvation
The Lord of every nation
Are we old,
Shifting sand or gold?
Precious life has given wisdom
Many stories of the Kingdom
the sand cleaned out
The gold stout
Through the fires and the storm
Whether night or morn
We will rest and pray
Trust God every day
Fearless and love inspired
Never to be retired.
