No need to brag
Jeter #2 was born to play and win; now that’s swag
For twenty years he has been the face of the MLB
Games played in 2123
Scored runs 1569
He won his 5th and final championship in 2009
One of the greatest shortstops that would ever be
He was 1 of 37 players with 1000 RBI
Jeter had five Silver Slugger Awards, two Hank Aaron Awards, a Roberto Clemente Award, and had 118 runs
On his face for 20 seasons is a permanent grin that shows he’s having fun
Jeter had 248 more hits than any other player
He may have been known as a singles hitter
A playoff game (158) over the course of his career and owns a .308 BA with 20 HR and 61 RBI, scoring 111 runs and racking up 200 hits
No steroids just natural God given athletics that’s legit
The winner of five Gold Gloves and 358 career stolen bases
So many opponents and haters he leaves them with tear filled eyes and permanent grinned faces
The idea in baseball is to score more runs than the other guy, which is how Jeter earned his living
Respect is definitely earned not given
“Derek has been the benchmark for character and class in a baseball uniform. He has inspired a generation to play baseball the way it was meant to be played. It has been an honor to play against him. On a lighter note this means two things: no more clutch hits against the Rays AND, another pooling of funds to buy a Yankee a farewell gift! Cheers to him”
— Rays third baseman Evan Longoria

Silent tears as friends hug restricted bodies,
Lingering awkward silences for moments long gone.
A hugs breath on his cheek as friends leave him alone,
Lingering smoke and whiskey shades tints the mind.
A parting quip and a crystal tear shivers in the air,
The gesture wave of failing friendship walks unsteady.
A lonely discomfort nips the soul, a hugs breath,
Clutching a card stained with friends pain,
He leaves for home and retirements reign.

generic minds listen to generic music
have generic thoughts that are unknowingly abusive
watch generic things talk about generic things
gee this generic *****is spreading like a disease
better get your flu shot
thats what they said to me
a suicidal vaccine
a subliminal killing spree
its contagious and the outrageous
thing about it is that the people are blind in an eye
that they didn't even know they had
it's sickening to watch these clueless civilians
inside the looking glass
with nightmares of being free
without a key to their mind
for it is trapped in the frequency
in the illusion of time
bathed in our universe
killing all that refuse to see
those that admit to hypocracy
or see the message in hip hop
how cant you see
the message in the lyrics that
bring adolescents to their knees
from bullet wounds conflicting their flesh
contradicting that they're the best
but the songs keep telling them that they dont need no rest
that they dont wanna go home
that they should ride alone
with the gat as their only companion
and so the only path they choose is the one that they're told
until they grow old and hope turns to a window pane
inside a window pane, until all they feel is pain
they realize that the music itself is ashamed
so whats to look up to
when you cant even speak when you cant even walk because you look so bleak
your eyes are sunken from the tv you're infested with the dee zees
now its too late to turn around and live for your conscious
so when youre screaming oh please
close your eyes and bring your mind to life
open your eyes for the first time
and never wonder why
since the answer this entire time
has been inside
and you better find it before you die
you dont want your soul to be in a pool with all the others
a buncha brothers missing their mothers
but only seeing strangers
only feeling the haters
wishing they would have used their minds when they had them
and now its too late,
now it's time for another new born fate to grab them

He was always so happy
strong and bold.
He'd give you the shirt off of his back.
He had a rough life
growing up through the depression,
but like he always does,
he got through it.
He has two boys, of whom he is so proud.
Moved from Regina, to Victoria.
He had the best life anyone his age could have wanted.
But ever since his wife died,
he has not been the same.
But like he has always done,
he got through it.
just a little forgetful.
That's how it always starts out...
But like always, he powered through it,
He is not the same person that I used to know.
He been sentenced to the prison in his own mind.
Possessed by the thoughts of his dogs ashes.
He likes to play the blame game,
but we know he doesn't remember that it was him.
He wakes up in the night
shaking with pain,
tears streaming down his face.
There is nothing we can do,
Two more tylenol.
Hold on to hope
for as long as you can,
It's only a matter of time now.
He gets vocal, a very loud tone.
He'll block you in your room
and make false accusations
But we know that it's the pain induced monster in him.
Tick tock, tick tock...
You can't handle the stress anymore
you have to leave.
Just hope for the best,
maybe it will get better.
Surprise, it doesn't.
Your denial is foolish, everyone knows
what happens next.

Farewell, then, AUKN boss,
The next this year makes three.
By the time they find a substitute,
Slovenes will be at sea.
He tried to cover his behind;
AUKN boss of bosses,
As every week, balances grew bleak:
He weighed merits and losses.
With all this he'd no time to eat,
And round and round he flew.
And now he's split in a hissy-fit;
So helmsman, too-de-loo!
Day after day, day after day,
He drifted on the ocean;
Guano-vernment rained on his ship
Their suggestions for promotion.
Cousins, cousins, everywhere,
Corporate boards crosslink;
Cousins, cousins, everywhere,
Let's take you for a drink.
Accountants talking rot: O Christ!
Missions, visions - oh please!
Yea, slimy characters need legs
And slimy policies.
So has he done an hellish thing?
Not hired who? We dunno:
Was it absurd, to have a separate curd
From the whey Slovenia owes?
This wretch won't play, after 60 days;
Pissflaps, he'll have to go!
God help ya, gospod Bencina
From the fiends, that plague us thus! -
It's time to go — shot like cross-bow,
The AUKN boss.
Ah! walk-out day! what evil looks
Had I from Ernst and Young!
Who's at a loss? AUKN's boss
Wouldn't take a bung?
"You'll be" quoth one, "abolished - no
Stigma to double-cross."
He chose to go - why? We don't know:
Harmless AUKN boss.
Re-reading the original gave me a great idea for dinner until I realised all the storks have all flapped off to Africa for the winter. Pity, as I have some ancient marinade from Tuš. Like the subject of the poem, I didn't have the stamina for a Coleridge-length effort.

Here comes the stormy fire,
Burned out my desire,
Racing against my chest, my hearts pacing,
Beating the pulse to a pulp, draining me dry,
Now’s the time to let go of this tandem rope,
Crash through this masquerade, there is no hope
Nobodies to blame, but myself,
It was all coming lose at the seams, piece by piece
The music was just too loud; the symphonies were burning my faith in hope
Nothing hurts like you do, walking away never giving me a second glance,
Pompeii, rain down on my parade, burn this farce of a show to cinders,
These ashes of our lives are like pythons underneath my every step,
Each sting a cry from my hearts to live again
Not saying goodbye was the cruelest act.
No words of comfort or embrace to spare my arteries.
So now I am sitting here listening to the dragon that breathed our love,
Its dying a slow death.
With every inhalation of this noxious gas, it only exacerbates the constriction on my lungs
Its evident to me that, love is dead.
Its all burned away, there is nothing left
There is no love left.
Love is dead.
Love is dead..
Is love dead?.....

I love you Kobe
You were my hero.
Till the eight now lastly to the 24 .
Last night your memories struck my tears and my happiness.
It’s just so hard that you are fading away from the game.
I realize that I honestly don’t love you of your fame.
I love you because you’re my hero and role model.
You inspired me to not quit.
You inspired me to continue.
Those 60 points I witness last night were a blessing from your talent and heart.
They were our last beloved memory of you.
It made me think to believe in myself.
You’re the real MVP Kobe.
You taught us loyalty.
You taught us to listen
You taught us hard work is important.
Whenever you go I’ll go.
And you taught us dearly to love you and respect you not only as a player but as a human beloved being sent from GOD.
Heroes come and goe.
Zeroes collapses and lets us down
But a Legend like you Kobe is forever eternally.
I love you Kobe.
Thank you for the game of basketball.
Thank you for me and the fans for seeing the moment on a special wonderful game you had deeply inside your sparking heart.
Your heart has touched my heart it pounded me.
I never felt like this before when it came to my hero turned legend.
I don’t care if I have a man crush on you.
I don’t care if I’m obsessed on you as a fan.
Because all I know is that you will always be my number 1 hero my savior my idol and my everything.
I cried last night.
I saw your past games last night.
I saw a growth.
I saw a legend.
I saw your 60 points.
You were amazing , I praises you and follow your path of greatness.
When I go to bed in my deep sleep every night I think of how great and special Kobe is and how I got much love for him. So in closing I will love to say farewell Kobe. See you later no goodbyes. Thank you for the sacrifices and the memories of the game of basketball. And I understand that you have to fade away eternally.
I never let go Kobe.
I never stop thinking of you .
Kobe all day.
Kobe all night.
Kobe a hero.
And Kobe I love you forevermore and good luck on your new journey.

All her belongings fitted into a suitcase and a small carry-on bag.
After 18 years, my helper was going home for good.
During those years, not a dime ever went missing in the various apartments we’ve called home, she waged daily war with the invading dust, soot and dirt spawned by the city, and my son went from a yawning little squiggle in cute swaddling clothes to a self-absorbed teenager.
The first time he was in a school play, aged 6, we took her to see the performance. After he came out on stage, I happened to look over at her. There were tears on her face.
Her cooking never quite reached the heights we hoped for, and she had her crusty moods that made us wonder who was working for whom. But she did her job religiously.
She scrimped and saved for us. Somebody had to be the house scrooge if her employers didn’t know the value of a dollar! We did, but that wasn't the way she saw it. In secret, she must have shaken her head a hundred times at our ‘extravagance'.
She never married, and almost all the money she’s made over the years has gone to building a modest family house back in the Philippines for her parents.
On her last night with us, we took her out to dinner. She ate little, ill at ease at a restaurant where a meal could easily cost half of her monthly salary.
After dinner, we forced-marched her to a Swatch shop to get her a farewell gift. In front of the displays, she kept mumbling, “Too expensive.” So we picked one out for her, something with a white dial and beige strap.
“This is nice! Stylish and young!” we all chimed in.
“But I’m not young,” she said softly.
In the end, she chose something subdued with a gray dial.
Early the next morning, we went out to the airport with her.
She checked in her bags, and we chatted for a while, taking pictures with our phones. Then it was time to say goodbye.
She hugged each of us, fighting uselessly to hold back the tears. It was the first time I'd hugged her. My wife was doing her best impression of a brave face, which might have worked if it hadn’t dissolved into a gush of tears at the last moment, while my son stood by stolidly, having cried once already a few days ago over the imminent departure of his ‘half mother’, much to his embarrassment.
She kept waving at us on her way into the restricted zone, her face flushed and blotchy.
Then she was gone.
She’d earned her retirement, and we were happy for her that she was finally going home.
We’d just have to deal with losing family.

A glass, a sip
Winding down after the long day
Leave it behind
One day coming
Passing the baton, the madness
Years of abuse
About to end
Put up with it
For years and years
Now’s my time to heal and recoup
Let others deal
As best they can
Turn a blind eye
And a deaf ear
Someone else’s turn to perform
Feats of magic
A smile with that
Cherry on top
My tour of duty is over
Thanks for the laughs
It’s been a blast
