Sir Poet, Hold True To Thy Gifts Long Given

Sir poet, why hast thy broken thy true pen?
Are not thy words intended to help and heal?
Pray thee, returneth to world of gentle men,
Let both thy mind and fevered blood softly spill!

Sir poet, why hast thy burned thy greatest writes?
Are not thy word-gifts bearing much needed fruits?
Pray thee, this sad, dark world sees thy ink-bright lights,
Begs thy kind soul return to poetic roots!

Sir poet, write deep to heal thy wounded heart
Embrace yet again, thy soul's truest call to arms
Find thy calling, begin an earnest restart,
Seek thee to help not this rash act that so harms.

Sir poet, hold true to thy gifts long given
Join again, poet's rewards in true liven'.

Shattered glass
Broken promises
Loves untied knots
Black roses weaving in summer winds

We all will die, the days are duly marked
In the book of reaping angels
Who till the fields of human decay
Whom take what they can, young or old

Piano keys sound the waltz
Of the oncoming
Shaking fingers and smiles to deny
The raven will have his feast

The death of you is at hand
The death of me was long ago
Yet I still breathe, and you still smile
I am full of tears, you my friend are life

A life to be stolen
As we sit silently
Knowing my hands are as useless as yours
Later smile upon me, and welcome me over

I who have lost long ago
Walks along the shoreline of hell
Alone, no hand to hold
Wishing it could have been me

The End of Love

A secret grief rips apart all that was
Slaves to the sexual caresses of time
Stallions in black gallop gallantly in fields
Of spring full wishes
Thou seeith the birth of love
Naked hopes surrounded by sweet perfumes
Seduced by the gods or by demon fools

Dancing, towards our own charades we sing
Funerals consume autumn’s dead poets
The gravestone cold and gray
We hug it like a long lost friend
One may see a battle lost
The other a battle won
In November we reminisce the soldier and singers too

Didst you know I was a prostitute?
Selling my soul to the hourglass of eternity
Foolishly hoping to sleep upon her breast
Shivering as others seem to fall right at deaths door
Brimstone, black and rose

The underbelly of St Laurent
Youthful boasts as the old man in cane hobbles
Generations sailed down the main
Some seeking solace others finding fame

Vaguely the recollections appear
Visions inside dreams inside the darkest fears
The end of love is near
For the hand above is reaching
As I float to the end of time

Enchantment in the crypts
Ravens dancing as they consume our mortal
Hearts
No smiles, no sleep
Thou did knowest I’m surely certain
The dance of death
Only to be followed
By a piper
And angels violins

Rags and shrouds, kiss them all goodbye
Hallelujah

Paris the 13th

Tears, my tears fall to wine
As I can not comprehend this horrendous crime
Men filled with such spiteful hate
Islamic teachings seal their fate
Kill and slaughter love and smiles
How I pray tell does this bring about
Any compassion of heart, have they no guile?

I have walked along those Parisian streets
Filled with history and diversity, such a feat
Hand in hand, people from so many lands
Dressed in darkness, blacks and grays
The massacre dancing in premonitions sway
Crusaders never win, for love will take its stand

Hundreds taken from Jesus hands
For nothing more than celebrating their great lands
Food and drink and lovers smiles
Stolen this night by hateful bile
We shall rise again, defend and stand

Our blood may flow in the river seine
However in the end its you, who is insane
We shall defend our liberty
Even if we hang evil from the tree

Père Lachaise has brought me tears
Such history over all the years
Yet here I am faced to visit once again

Paying respect to those dying in vain
My heart is fraught, with you till eternity

Liberté, égalité, fraternité

Notes: Pere Lachaise is a famous cemetery in Paris
Liberté, égalité, fraternité is the motto of France

  ~ Linda-Marie The Sweetheart of P. S. ~

When it comes to a friendly hi!
One of the best poetry, hearts we can't deny!

Our Sweetheart Linda Marie
No one is smoother and sweeter than her- our peach tree

Always stopping by to say hi, no matter, rain/sleet or snow
Her contest Zany Zoo, one of the soups best show

A woman who never judged me from the start
Linda Marie, thank you for being such a sweetheart

Sharing her delightful poems, a double doze for me
Oh Me- Oh My- That woman can write so much poetry!

I am sure she is loved by the poetry soup staff
LOL! How this blonde bombshell made us laugh

Remember, when she took her laptop to a sandy Island
She smiled, and shared, how the laptop was damaged with so much sand

Hanging out with Linda, it's like singing "Kumbaya my Lord"-- I felt her holding my hand
How sweet of Linda, when she invited us to meet her new Husband?

Linda Marie is loved by her very own BBF team
Letting us know, life has been more than a dream

Her heart so big, she worried when her BFF's weren't around
Leaving notes, making sure we have not hit a poet break down

She keeps us in her heart when we are not logged in
Her beautiful and clever/witty poem will forever remain

Most of her poetry made me smile
Linda Marie's poetry had so much Style!

We prayed for you when we heard about your son
Thank you for sharing your faith in God. -Linda You're #1

A poet I highly recommend
Linda Marie my poetry soup best friend

Spill Ink—the poets’ timeless warp and woof;
Signifies our mantra beyond reproof;
Late at night as poets struggle to write;
Our Muse enchants poets to such delight;
Poets seek tone and tenor for a splash,
And images and nuance for a dash.
"Spill Ink!” Poets cry seeking perfection!

Three dozen Roses, Red ,Yellow and White
To show my affection for POETIC insight
Her Quilled POETRY : Inspirations; ignite
The Pen in my hand as I write through the night

When words from her Heart, in a new POEM appear
I read it twice over 'til message is clear
The image so vivid as Roses "Pure" White
My mind carries her words in Dreams through the night

I wake up refreshed, with a pen in my hand
Thank-YOU Andrea Dietrich; I now understand
I will shout to the World; throughout the whole land
With a feeble Tribute to make YOU feel Grand

As my pen tries to emulate YOUR Talented Quill
Roses for Andrea and Her POETRY skill

VietGodnam

The red white and blue
Not always right, but always true
Men of valor
Men of the draft
Men of the poor
Men who spilled their blood for country

Those who died
Those who lived
Those who live inside their nightmares
I humbly thank you

It is I who must walk in shame
That we did not play our role
Supporting our nations heroes
Supporting those who deserve the most

Now years later wisdoms become the truth
As Vietcong and War Vets, hold hands
Drinking tea and sharing peace
Ask any soldier, for what value he would fight the most
He will tell you very clearly
I will fight, to end all wars

He who has fought
Knows that the battlefield leaves no winner
Only orphans to roam the streets

i love the taste of the moon... tangerine, compared to the metal taste of the blistering noontime temperature. and to inhale the embroidery of evening, to me, is to be filled with soothing solace. as one can see ...sneaking outside, in the din of hours, to speak with her, my moon--- round or sliced and concave--- has been a passage and ritual of mine since I was a girl child. and to chase this orb and know if she is waxing or waning with my thirsty eyes, i cling to her symphonies and silence it is so, till I snuff out from this earthscape if you see a butterfly maiden, strolling the lines of a porch or street in slit hours sometime before twilight... it is simply me, once more, inhaling my moon tasting this delicacy... this luna of beauty i need as my daily passion and balm; lest i die

He'd be typing away on his desk
with blueprints for the next big thing,
While I'd be staring off into the azure sky
appreciating the "insignificant" things

You really are a genius
in your field of technicalities,
with which you thoroughly water;
A wife, a place of your own,
and a destination in mind

Me?

You'll find me in the corner
(no not a corner... think rounded edges,
much more safe)
Half past ten, still in bed,
with rolls of cash in a Ziploc bed
(I'm not dealing and I'm sorry if I gave you that
impression... more likely
just a descendant of Scrooge)

Your perfectly organized life
(my just screw it attitude)
Well I must say you are on your way,
but where exactly too?

I solemnly wish
we had, but one thing
in common, dearest brother,
Even with the knowledge
that I wrote this for you
I'm sure deep down
you'd think this quite sappy

And being the person that I am
I'd immediately think of tree metaphors
(now what what rhymes with cedar?)

And being the person you are
you'd probably just go about your day
wondering about the latest Apple product

You live next door
and yet somehow
galaxies came between us,
Practical you gathered sticks and stones
for your shelter here on Earth

(I was too busy daydreaming
on Mars)

From the moment I opened my eyes
and peaked my little head out
from the pool in the backyard,
we were brothers, through and through

... so why do I have this nagging urge
to shake your hand and ask

"Have we met?"

I know a very fine poet, a dear colleague, who’s so exquisitely talented and bright,
And has a superb facility with words and themes making all fit perfect and right;
She has an unrivaled mastery of the poetic art and writes with the best approach,
And has an unparalleled ability to write the finest verse beyond any reproach.

This poet’s sense of depth, empathy, and poetic variety is quite splendid to behold,
And she brings such compassion and power to her work worth its weight in gold;
With well-conceived themes and images she invites readers to her special dimension,
While enchanting them magically with sublime verses and holding their attention.

This poet communes with Our Poetry Muse, seeking her scope and enchanted vision,
And shares amply all with her readers with enraptured intent and a perfect precision.
Our friend’s poetry reflects always the human dynamic with such power and grace,
And she finds the right tone, tenor, pitch and rhyme—putting them in proper place.

I must say I’m very proud of our colleague’s work and appreciate so her fine poetry,
And I’m so glad she’s with us and gives us such beauty and elegance in her poetry!

Insane
All of us
The two of us
The ménage of us

The rain drops fall inside our heads
Just the two of us
Crazy deluded creatures
crawling in the attics of darkness

Breathing, gasping, hold on, hold tight
The air becomes a precious bond
Little one dances in the wind
Precious dreams in white padded rooms

Adam and Eve and serpent roam
The halls of the diabolical
Wondering where I have been?
I am all of you

Mirrors on the wall
Can you not all see?
We are all me and you
Insane inside mindless heads

Random mutterings
Broken bottles
Gods stolen promises
Contracts broken in the night

Insane we are
All of us
From Adam to Dawn
Holding hands for better days

Dying to be uninsane
Wishing raindrops go up not down
ATEN shall again shower us
With sunny days

Dedicated to someone here who told me once, “I am just…………. Well I say you are just a brilliant poet”

"Because I Love You."

     Because I love you
      together, we could
sleep on our bed head to head,
          listen to the unsaid
light the flame without a name.

Because I love you
together, we could
   pretend its real
     listen to the unsaid
blow the snow & steal the wind.

Because I love you
together, we could
   dream and scream
      listen to the unsaid
         when resting in our nest.

Because I love you
together, we could
    watch the tide
       listen to the unsaid
         while sitting side by side.

Because I love you
together, we could
     be from the very few
           listen to the unsaid
                  as we only knew.

Because I love you
together, we could
    hold hands just stand,
         listen to the unsaid
             then dance to the band.

                                          I Will Always Love You
                                                     Together.

           Yesterday.
My life was a constant puzzle,
I never knew how to solve it.
My life faded and dimmed
at the age of six,
when abused sexually.
My existence haunted me all my life;
it was a constant rumbling ocean.
Daily jolted as an earthquake,
 made me violate many vows.
My vigor was like a desert with no sand,
I was as frozen, as an iceberg.
It taught me not to forgive but forget,
that's why I lived with broken promises.
My animation was like a zoo, with no animals.
This life above, was lived through my Yesterdays.
           My Life Today.
Today, living in LA with my son
is a life I want. To enjoy that role
as a mother and friend, before it's too late.
Today, I can stand up on higher premises,
to look down at things differently.
For the first time, I know what I want,
as nothing seems impossible.
Today, I dare to strike up,
and look down on different grounds.
My life today, made me aware of my existence,
gave me the meaning of visiting him,
without feeling a stranger.
                 Now.
His light burned away my darkness.
He is the river that allows me to flow.
At this time, he is the cloud that shelters me
from burning.
He encouraged me to seek a life, find a love,
and not yield to misery.
He helped me win the game,
feel the same, as of today.

Tonight, my true feelings
from Los Angeles.

One red candle of dying flame
I pour one glass of Bordeaux, into yesterday
A meal for one, as autumn leaves become undone
A sad clown’s face
Reflects back to me
Thanksgiving is lonely
When all your friends are dead

Dragon fell asleep at his nappy time, and his dreams were so sublime.
He’d just heard the song, ‘Snoopy Vs The Red Baron’, one more time.
That Plus ‘Snoopy’s Christmas’, both were… very old… favorites of mine!
And, I swear to you… this is how his dreams… Really… did align…

Snoopy’s Dog House was in for repair. His little mechanic bird friends…
Were working feverishly making repairs for Snoopys’ next battle to begin.
But as the time drew near… Snoopy couldn’t wait… He couldn’t be late.
A Duel of honor had been struck, and it was time for the Red Baron’s fate.

He’d AGAIN appear! Snoopy had to be there at dawn, to fight for our team.
To save our beloved Life, Liberty, Freedom, and the great American Dream.
The Red Baron was never late, or missed, this duel! He yearly repeated…
It was the anniversary of his greatest loss. This, he wanted! No! He needed!

This was, once again, his chance to Win! So Snoopy did the amazing thing!
He called on Dragon to see him thru! Yes, Dragon would supply the wings.
He’d be in a dog fight with Snoopy, against the Red Baron, to the bitter end.
What the Red Baron didn’t know was… he didn’t stand a chance, my friend.

Not with these two Super heroes, together, and they did start out, so true!
At least, until Snoopy’s machine gun jammed! Oh! What would they do??!!
Freedom Simply Couldn’t Be Lost, when it didn’t go, as they had planned!
But never fear, with Dragon here, at Snoopy’s inventive, brilliant command!

Snoopy called on Dragon’s most wonderous, Top Secret Strength, acquired!
Yep, you guessed! He had Dragon spit out, Really, Great, Big Balls of Fire!
Naturally that couldn’t be beat! Better yet, as The Red Baron leaned in…
Diving from above! Dragon did the greatest Loop de Loop EVER SEEN!

Yep, He ended up, right behind the Red Baron’s illustrious, flying machine!
Then Snoopy let his Dragon of War loose, to do his special thing, so keen!
And as you guessed, the tail of the Red Barons’ plane, caught fire, so sweet!
Sending him home… in a massive, humbling, complete and utter DEFEAT!

The moral of this story is: Never Mess with our… American Super Heroes!
Dedicated to the True Heroes of 9/11, the First Responders, and our Amazing
Soldiers… They’re the best the World will ever see!

Pursue love,
the love that has no meaning,
the silver ports of the moon,
shine so bright,
that it blinds you in the twilight
she is beautiful and she is divine
she is the song sang by the sweet nightingales
in the gardens of worthy, overgrowning and blooming roses,
like wildfire grow tall and the thornes of the vines
tangle around her feet and drag her ever so slightly
throughout the garden of beauty.
As the roses lay along a table,
as she sits at the table
and she waits for me, the wordman
to come to the dinner table at the stroke of nine
and sit with her,
start a scene or two of romantic setting,
to pursue love in her name.
Love is around us,
the candlelight shines and reflects in her silk hair,
as her evening dress glitters and shines
and her bossom shows itself in the nightsky
as we lay together,
we pursue a dream together,
forever we live together forever,
as we stand upon the belcony of Romeo and Juliet's love scene
we swim in a pool of sweet divine care and love,
we swallow grapes and drink wine
hand and hand on Persian rugs and virgin white cloth sheets,
we dance to a simple, yet sweet Chopin's masterpiece
of his beautiful nocturnes,
which make such a sweet and romantic song in our heads.

We stomp out the flames
as we dance the night away,
and you lay in my arms,
and I kiss you upon your lovely head,
and you hold my hand,
and I hold you tight
never thinking of letting your love go away from me,
I would take my own life,
before I lose your love.
See us together,
it is a painting that lasts lifetimes,
that needs no touch-ups.
I care for you and love you!
Love me, I know you will.

My sweet and loving portrait lady,
who in reality is more beautiful than a fully bloomed rose
that sits on its green stem,
in the garden of beauty that sits outside my window.
Come up to my chambers
as I picked roses for you and pettles litter the atmosphere
as love's tension grows
and suspence brings us together,
let us make love tonight
seal the passion
and pursue love once and for all.

Then shall we wake with the first rays of the blazing of the morning sun,
I shall wake next to your beauty and glory,
and I shall point my attention to the heavens
and thank the Gods for sending you on the open road,
toward my chamber door, I call my heart.
Then we shall dress, and walk the pathways
in the garden of beauty
and I shall pick a bauquet of roses
and we shall sit by the lake and pursue our love
for one another
and nothing, not one earthquake shall shake us apart.

He has a gentle way about him
when you see him passing through.
He doesn't say "look at me" with a big neon sign,
but his friendliness is subtle like an evening breeze
(a smile wrapped in one big parenthesis)

Cool as a cucumber, calm and collected,
(look careful and you'll find an intellect
dressed in a High-Five and a Way-To-Go!)

But the only thing that deceives me so
--- though I guess it can be forgiven (and please don't be livid)
but my friend Paul, he's a walking contradiction,
for "callous" he is not!

This goes far beyond poetry

here I go...

snippets of thoughts
to words
to poetry

to hearts
touching
to smiles
reaching eyes

I am grateful,
I am blessed,
for the friendships formed

of chapbooks and poetry books
to reading books, watching movies

of eating to cooking
…of chocolate, truffles, tiramisu
of jellybeans and mushrooms…
of spam and eggs and mayo
and of course, soup
hot or cold

of trips and falls,
and bumps and stares

and typos...
of it's and its
of i before e,
and a instead of e

of Only Hopes
and Dreams
to sleeping
and NOT sleeping

of music, and drumbeats
of art, and painting

of life, of love, of faith
of jokes and laughter,
of craziness and madness

of contests
and comments
swinging
back and forth
beyond crazy and fun

to body parts
aching, tickling
and of writing about them

of sharing and giving
of thoughts and ideas

of challenges and triumphs
of milestones

of prayers...

of life and of death

of ghosts and doppelgangers

of questions and answers
and answers with questions

of troubles and tears
of secrets and fears

of misunderstanding
and learning
to growing and reaping

of doors opening and closing
of the past and of the future

of the present

of sunshine and rain
darkness and light
of rainbows
and animals, in and out
our lives and our minds

beginnings and endings,
to endings beginning
to cycles,
just going round and round

This is beyond poetry
and I am heartened,
I am blessed

so Thank You
for the poetry…
for the inspiration…
for the friendship.
Sounds so simple,
but it’s from my heart,
it's from my soul
just...Thank You.

Thinking of thee day when I went to see, accidentally looking at you made me feel like I was on Extasy. I watched your eyes while they were watching me. Looking into my eyes you knew I had those qualities of motherly nurturing, morality therefore giving you that love story.. Connecting on all levels we both became thirsty eagerly, as if we had telepathy. Our minds and soul became as one, as our heart beats began to beat as one. Loving abnormally to an unusual degree, chastity pure purity our love story... Each day you spent with me, I took away all of your misery. I became your biggest fan fore you were my man, by your side forever i stand. Love so compact. Loving the monogamy having one mate at one time. Loving you for a life time. Mourning for your touch that I began to love so very much. Your generosity of your mentality intellectual capacity, your supremacy, supreme power of authority love for me. Is the best part of our love story. With each touch I lust, real love i gush. Having the ability for mobility to take tenancy inside of me. You became my property. We had symmetry I was the beauty, and your my harmony. True and forever exceptionally... Love story.

I was searching my mind for a theme to choose
for my very first poem of the year
turns out it was an easy choice
to thank some friends who I hold so dear.

I've never met any one of these folks
but I consider them friends none-the-less
I established their friendship on Poetry Soup
and I consider them all the best.

For their kind and generous comments
to express how I feel is real tough
the right words really escape me
I just can't thank them enough.

There's Sweetheart, Bob and Larry
Wilma, DR Ram and Barbara G.
Debra, Andrea and Sara
who have all been so gracious to me.

p.d., John F. and Hitendra
Carolyn, Carol and Francine
C.L., Audrey and Doris
all friends who I've never seen.

If it weren't for all these nice people
I would have given up a long time ago
Their encouragement made me keep trying
and helped me much more than they know.

When retired you tend to get dormant
just sit sleeping or watching T.V.
till I got involved with Poetry Soup
that's what was happening to me.

I don't want my brain to retire
it needs to be active for sure
My writing and the challenging contests
help my brain to endure.

So I thank all you wonderful Soupers
believe me you are the best
you kept me from becoming a bump-on-a-log
of that I will attest.

There are others who I haven't mentioned by name
I hope no one feels slighted
cause everyone I've ever dealt with
I've always been highly delighted.

A Healthy and Happy New Year to you all!

He meandered lonely
just a senior citizen
trawling the pathways of his computer,
when suddenly one day in a flash
an enchanting name jumped from the screen
into his unadjusted head,
whilst still in a daze
he had cut copied and pasted,
the delete key not an option
when sent to his favourites.
Then like magic, poetry began to appear
every single day a new poem would emerge
all written in a familiar dialect,
to begin with down to earth
raw unadulterated poetry
the kind that attaches itself to one’s mind
bores in to the head, rattles around
then lays awhile
then keeps coming on back, over and over again.
Poetry that penetrates, like an arrow,
pierces the heart, tends to linger
deep in one’s consciousness
disarming the most vehement of thought,
poetry that creates calmness
making one at ease, especially one
old with age and recipient of an endowment of excruciating pain!
Soon the poetry began to blossom
as all creations do
in the springtime of their lives,
the purity of Wild flowers, colours of the rainbow
free to sway within the gentle breeze,
soon each daily dose of verse begins to transpire
into carpets of lavender
upon the woodland stage, cascading Bluebells of joy,
the epitome of beauty unfolding
before one’s very eyes.
Again the poetry continues to consolidate,
poems of form formularized those conceived of
the Peace Lillie so sensuous in shape
so assuring in grace, a hard life the Lillie endures
yet one, only of positivity etched into each stanza
of bold narration for all to peruse!
Then a transformation
to the Rose, the very sense of beauty,
when with words of wrought
thy language comforting long into the night
to ease each day a journey of plight,
yet for you sweet Rose
thy poetry, it is not at an end
when to the Orchid you graciously ascend!
Many are those that come and admire
the wonders of your beauty those words on fire,
yet some desire more
with cunning and subtlety
those to manipulate to control
for one’s own ends.
But the Orchid remains safe
suffers no fool,
nurtured in extreme climates
is strong and worldly wise,
the poetry just keeps on coming,
flowing like tears of joy,
from an eye of one who’s happiness
is assured every single day!
