Abandoned by your own mother. How could she leave you to die? You were helpless, bedraggled and weak. When I saw you my heart melted… who could resist those huge blue eyes. I scooped you up and carried you home. You cried for your mum; but she was long gone. I gave you warm milk you drank thirstily; then fell asleep in my arms. I begged my mum to let you stay. From that day you stole my heart. I fell in love with my first kitten. Sponsor Ed Ebbs Contest Anacreontic Verse 1 11~07~15

Pied Beauty

Maybe God wanted to paint
this charming creature white;
but when about to finish,
ran out of paint;
And the result—a pied beauty!

Anacreontic verse

Little cat
you wander free
without a single
thought of me.
You know not of
the ills in store
for silly cats
in the outdoor.
The eagles swoops
to lift you high
and carry you
up in the sky.
He drops you and
you run away,
still thinking it's
a form of play.
You try to evade
my loving grasp.
You struggle enough
to make me gasp.
If only I
could make you see
you're better off
at home with me.
There are hungry
creatures out here, who
would turn you
into kitty stew.
So please don't wiggle
to be free.
You're only safe
at home with me.

Cat 5 Hurricane - Ivan the Terrible

Your world of illusion is not of my choosing,
but here we are stuck in a Hurricane's eye.
The sea is so pleasing, but I know you're teasing,
and our Hurricane is a different high.
I feel you surround me as you stop to feed,
consuming my soul in your greed;
I'd follow your teardrops to get where they lead,
your love is the ending I need.

If I'm not mistaking this migraine is making
me think that this Hurricane might lose it's eye;
your love is a blessing, I guess that's confessing
I need you to show how all Hurricanes die.
I'd walk through the valley of death in your eyes
for more of your little white lies.
I'd soar through the heavens with love if it flies,
to stay in your beautiful eyes.

I'm feeling no mercy from all the dispersing,
that Ivan'a Cat 5 will fade through the night,
but find it alarming that you and your charming
have wrecked my life much more in delight.
I'd crawl through the valley of death for your lies,
'tis here I find love, in your eyes.
I'd follow your teardrops to get where ever they lead,
your love is the ending I need.

Something's Fishy

Dad came home from work
in the middle of the night
only to find the kitchen light
had burnt out.
He’d have to eat his Wheaties
in the dark.
What he didn’t know
because he was hungry and tired
and couldn’t see well
was that he had poured himself
a bowl of cat food.
Not even sugar and milk
could hide the evidence
once he put that first spoonful
in his mouth.
That was the night
we were startled from sleep
by the roar of the king
of the house!

How Much Is The Cat In The Window?

How much is the cat in the window?
                   The one that’s standing up
How much is the cat in the window?
I do hope that kitty is for sale

                 I don’t want a turtle or a snake
I don’t want a bowl of fish or a guinea pig
               I don’t want a cute rabbit or a bird
You can’t give them things a hug

How much is the cat in the window?
               The one that’s standing up
I have a slight problem at home
And if I have a cat then maybe
                 the rat will leave

Be fast like a cheetah
Don't wait for any hater

Be vigilant like a snake
Always alert and awake

Strong like lion
Defeat every obstacle on your way to Mt.Zion

Wild like a tiger
Scare any bad omen which tries to linger

Wise like an ant
Know when you need and want

Humble like a sheep
Your shepherd will give you a place to sleep

Calm like a cat
Don't confuse mouse with a rat

Don't be lazy like the snail
Lest you are likely to fail

Don't be slow like a tortoise
lest you become susceptible to your enemies

Be neat like a duck
That will call for good luck

Don't be dirty like a pig
lest apart from meat, you become useless yet,big

Be time conscious like the hen
She knows how and when

Don't be stubborn like a goat
lest you always bring troubles to your throat

Kittens Didn't Choose Being Born

I spend two hours of most every day,
With the tending and feeding of cats.
I never imagined my end of life this way,
It causes most of our marital spats.

It's not a Kitten's fault for being born,
Nor their choice to be jettisoned on me.
It's taxing doing what's right each morn,
To a dozen cats we've became a trustee.

The cost of feeding is now out of hand,
And Vet bills are becoming all to frequent.
Then another little Kitty arrives unplanned,
Seeming to always come in sequent.

Adoptive homes we've found for a few,
Still others have tried stopping a car.
But doing our duty we'll not eschew,
On my marker just write "The Cat Czar"

But "my woe is me" changes nary a thing,
And I've too much invested to run away.
So I'll continue praying for life's upswing,
And tending unwanted cats another day.

Woman With The Cheshire Cat Smile

A stranger
Dressed in jeans
And black short sleeve top
Our eyes meet
As she approaches
I greet her hello
She replies "Hi"
We smile in unison
As we pass each other
Her mega watt smile
Ear to ear, lips shaped
Like a crescent moon
Torch of her grin
Like a moonbeam
Through darkness
She's beautiful, indeed
And seems friendly
But I'll never know her
However, I'll always remember
Her beaming smile

A song about my cat

My cat went a roaming to find a new home.
Sing kitty,sing katty,sing Oh!
This cat was so clever he had his own comb.
Look up,now look down, stone the crows!

He went into the neighbours' and drank all their milk.
Sing,fridge raiding kitties.No,No!
Then he laid himself down on a piece of fine silk.
Sing,what the dickens,my lovely pillow!

He went to the butcher and ate all the steak.
Sing greedy,he's ruined my flow.
Then he went to the hairdresser for a shampoo.
Where else can a puttitat go?

He had no plastic,no money,no cheque!
Sing,cheater,sing creature,sing woe.
She sent for a Copper who paid the cat's bill.
And so my puss came out all aglow.

Now my cat was glossy and plump and refreshed.
Sing:fancy,it all goes to show.
So he came home and said this place is best.
And he picked up his cello and bow.

He scraped some Sibelius and also some Grieg.
Sing: Northern lights can always glow.
But,he looked so self satisfied,I felt annoyed....
One should not let one's narcissism show.

But he was so handsome,I was glad he came home.
Sing,grateful,sing katefull,sing Ho!
And I hope he will never again want to roam.
Sing glory.sing story;Sing So!

In The Midnight Moonlight

Hey there midnight.
How was your day?
And how goes the night?

Lay there and sleep tight.
We're just as afraid
as we all are alright.

So light me up a fire
while we sing along the wires
with a choir who desires
to deserve some peace and quiet...

Tonight is midnight.
Where the sun fades away
in the shade of moonlight.

So goodnight and dream bright.
Like the clouds glow with jade
in the midnight moonlight.

Kitty cat

Kitty, kitty, where are you?
Come! Come 'ere! Let's dream together.
Want to make my dream come true
And you're watching flying feather.

Oh the all mighty, I will pray
For better times, for my wisdom.
It's no more funny, it's no play.
Tragedies are adored seldom.

Kitty, kitty, my kitty cat
Don't you pity me in my flat.
Come closer, let me hear you purr
Instead jump off the table "Murr!"

Kitty, kitty, comfort me,
Come here and just be with me...

Emerald Cat

I’m going to L.A. and I’m going to smoke and wear black
What a rainy day
I would be safe and warm if I was in L.A.
Flower’s dancing in the rain

Dream brother, dream brother, dream brother is on my mind
Jeff Buckley, hell yeah
Oh how sad
It’s too cold to wear only my panties and long t-shirt

Only Emerald Cat can save me
I don’t feel inspired anymore
Gimme that tiara, princess everywhere
Honey, welcome to ‘50s

That soft and jazzy sound on my mind
You know, when I get tired of life I listen to Elvis
I need my man, I need somebody
I don’t want to listen to oldies all alone anymore

Only Emerald Cat can save me
I don’t feel inspired anymore
Gimme that tiara, princess everywhere
Honey, welcome to '50s

My red, velvet party dress
Feeling sexy, killing you
Feeling '50s queen in my heart
Living like a homeless, but c'mon

My red, velvet party dress
Feeling sexy, killing you
Feeling '50s queen in my heart
Living like a homeless, but c'mon

Only Emerald Cat can save me
I don’t feel inspired anymore
Gimme that tiara, princess everywhere
Honey, welcome to '50s

Only Emerald Cat can save me
I don’t feel inspired anymore
Gimme that tiara, princess everywhere
Honey, welcome to '50s

We searched for each other – it turned out in vain.
We lived, loved not very often, we laughted and we struggled.
We promised to walk miles. We did in the rain.
But instead of a soulmate in bed I have cats that snuggle.

Spoiled little brats

Spent two days with a good old friend
And her kids - two spoiled little brats.
Such life is hard to comprehend -
I'd rather live with cats.

The Cat

Cat sleeps for yarning in between
So different and keen

Gets up from, feeling numb
Indeed the cat is always dumb

Then the cat attacked me with anger
When I just wanted to see the cubs of her

When I used to love her so much
She has shown in me no trust

She has hurt me
even after knowing me

So stupid I was
Never so shocked I was

My Cat

A ball of fluff, she plays with stuff.
So cuddly and cute, I love her always.
Sometimes I just want to take her in my arms and never let her go.
Others times I want to hurt her, because she slaps me on my toes.
She loves to play, with her spider toy.
I love playing with her, she's such a joy.
We've had her for about two years.
And when I'm sad, she purrs and tries to dry my tears.
So as you can see, I love my kitty.
Because she's an all American Bearbie

Cat 'n Rat

Cat on a fence
Sat on a fence,
Purring soft and low;
Rat in the bush
Sat in the bush
And didn't know where to go.

The stars came out,
The moon came out,
And the rat came out with a rush!
The wind sang,
The cat sprang!
And the rat was a meal of mush.

When a cat catches a mouse

When a cat catches a mouse,
That’s its dinner.
But when a dog catches a mouse,
It eventually lets go of the catch,
Not knowing what to do.
Likewise, when my enemy catches me at it,
I had it!
But if ever, by chance,
I catch my enemy at it,
I would end up feeling miserable!
Can anyone explain?

Poems about Life

We are the sum of experiences that we encounter as we go through life. Day to day struggles and triumphs are experienced by all of the world's creatures. As human beings, when we encounter a challenge, we have freedom to choose how to react. Every decision that we make leads us down a different road. We will never come to exactly the same crossroads. Every decision that we make has significance. The tiniest choice that we make reverberates throughout the entire universe.
