Your Eyes

 (Dedicated to Folake)

Your eyes, woman
are like twilight rainbow
amorously bearing aloft passions of mine
toward androcytic ecstacy.
They tell of endless lights.

Night skies clarion the warmth of you
keep me balled-up till
i am tilted to your adorned essence.

May I call up words to adore you,
agglomerate them into a panoply of worshippers
unsandalled before you
like Moses at the burning bush.
And now you seem to fall asleep
but you tell me it's the heavy night
bidding toward a sunny dawn
wherein our love is lighted.

Slowly I let you fall asleep
impatient with the long night
waiting to gaze once more
into the eyes of my lovely love.

Then a lip is placed on yours
and you rouse up wide-eyed
smiling at my romantic move.
We enjoyed the night, cruising on.

The Storm

And the storm calls to me in ways you'll never understand
A gentle call that urges my soul forth
The lighting guiding a path for my feet to walk
Between the stones and ash of all that once was
I stand in the echoing silence of the rain
It drops down upon my skin like the blessing waters of heaven
Soothing me, lifting the weight from my body
I feel at once as if I am home
Standing amid two dimensions
Caught between two skies - here and there
The night wraping around me in warmth
The gentle wind lifting me off my feet
Drops from the clouded moon washing away my body
and I am left just a soul, an essence
The storm calls me forth from beneath my roof
Beckoning me into its depth
I stand among the reeds in the basin
They dance and sway as if welcoming me
And I sway with them back
Caught up in the power that charges the air
That threatens to sweep me away
If the ground will just loosen its hold
The thunder rumbles a low welcoming growl
And I get pleasently lost within it
I am so small compared to its vastness
I close my eyes and succumb to the skies wishes
Rising higher until my feet no longer touch the ground
My fingertips touch the liquid color of the stars
A sigh drifts from my lips
There is no need of thought to stay afloat
There is no demand to breathe in air
No crushing weight upon my chest
As my lungs struggle to survive
There are no struggles here
I make my bed on blackened clouds
And give in to the call
The storm has claimed me as its own
It was such a struggle to stay upon the ground
When the storm would call me home

If I Shall Grow Old 2K13

If these eyes shall become blinded, and if this
hair shall come to be combed thinly and grey;
No, it would not be the end of the world.
I would still see beauty therein this world through
the songs of Crickets and Feathered Songsters.
The breeze would yet whisper and trees still dance.
I would yet smell the freshly bloom of Spring.
I'd still endure Summer's sweltering heat.
I'd yet feel Autumn's leaves crunch 'neath these toes.
I'd still long to be fireside with Winter.
Disabled or not, perhaps I'd yet walk
therein wonderful imagination.
How I'd be forever young at heart!
Then just as one journey came to an end,
I'd indeed greet another with a smile.

felt like i did before thats how i know i missed ya
if i could then i woulda grabbed ya hugged and kissed ya
bachelor for eternity missing the bigger picture
you i barely knew, appearing on every vista
i appreciate the support, but what i need is love
tho truth may hurt, better than all of the above
i trusted you cause you represent something ive never done,
who knew that two can prove to be better than one or
first in a place, never won a sum,
bygones gone and a couple of puns
we let the honey run till sweet enough touch
beat around the bush, no rush
it got hotter but the wetaher didnt change
not a cloud in the sky or a drop of blame
no need for a why whenw e had an x
we gotta where we wanted then decided what next

no matter where i go
over land and sea
id rather have you cause one is lonely
keep me company
three not necessary
feels real comfy
has since february

february march april may june july august in a day
the longer we go the more we grow
feeling better each step of the way

if theres a problem we can talk and double check
nothing we cant solve with an embrace and kiss to the face or neck
i love you more than ode and penelope. maria odb
or lil kim and biggie
thank the gods we aint in a greek tragedy
or sometime before 19 sixty
for what is feminin
sent me to my questionin
i quickly collected evidence, respect
exactly what i expected, experiencing the extension
my seconds, perspective as my lessons
i remember when im stressing
to fit into my senses, lower my defenses
soothing if theres tenseness, leaving room for suggestion
did i mention that youre precious
a gift of personal appreciation, when we regard eachother
in highest celebration shared by lovers, so more than any i thank you
for willing to get as close as you do
i hope for you the complimentary is true
im sure if it wasnt we can talk it through its coo
right there is reason why i call you boo

no matter where i go
over land and sea
id rather have you cause one is lonely
keep me company
three not necessary
feels real comfy
has since february

february march april may june july august in a day
the longer we go the more we grow
feeling beter each step of the way

April too lenient

comatose commas thought April too lenient;
birth was postponed until June,
provided preference for instant coffee
or selfless gratification,
minus the flack fouled narcolepsy,
however insistent …

cruelty followed,
as cardboard mansions collapsed under oath,
if under cardiac-arrest,
below if not adjacent to, the end,
regardless of means…

Thoughts That Think

Was thinking long and hard about giving up writing.
Convinced myself that I'm a quitter and there's no sense in fighting
To keep the only thing that kept me far from the edge
But I can't pretend.
Pretend that it isn't my Fortress of Solitude
That's honoured me with solemn servitude.
That it hasn't helped put me to rest, thought and mind,
By accepting the past on paper and keeping it close behind.

I was thinking logically and analytically
Because it seems to be the only thing I'm good at.
Thinking about everything I've seen and everyone I've fought to keep,
They're all gone now, only to be found in memories.
They say Poets and Artists are the architects of Heaven
And only they know it's the hardest when no one buys what they're selling.
No one wants to listen and no one wants to see
Because everyone's so sure of what you're supposed to be.

But what are you supposed to do when you've dedicated your life to understanding?
When you can empathize with your brother, but your own sight you can't stand it.
When you feel that there's a missing piece and so the wholes hurting.
Swim out long past the reef and any safety that you keep to do some soul searching.
Days and months fighting fears, love and tears, digging the hard soil.
Only to find that missing piece you desperately seek is hidden deep beneath.
When you've found the straw that broke the Camels back
Only to find there's a million more underneath.

What are you supposed to do when you follow the chains
Long past the plains in hopes to break the link.
Kill the ties that bind and have held you for so long,
Only to find there is no ball, you were free all along.
And in your days of darkness with no life to sip or sup
All the hands around your back were never meant to keep you up
And all of those who have kept you down will fight to keep you dancing to their beat.
Any impenetrable man once stabbed in the heart, will crumble with defeat.

01:45 - April Showers: Doubts, Not Flowers

The world turned back to cold today
I turned, you turned, we walked away.
Four months alone to see your face
For hours few, but worth the wait.

And even though while at her side
You looked content to other eyes,
I think I glimpsed the hurt you feel,
I think that kiss was far from real.

April Fools

Today’s the day that mayhem rules
For pranksters known as April fools.
Through jest and folly they’ll provoke
And hope that all can take a joke.

Shenanigans and gags are fun
But they won’t work on everyone.
A jester has to know his crowd
To gauge what mischief is allowed.

Some people laugh off everything
While others suffer teasing’s sting.
On April Fools Day, even money
Says some pranks won’t come off funny.

Certain antics will appeal;
Others, though, will soon reveal
That what hits one man’s funny bone
May cause another to be thrown.

Letter To April

Hey babe.
How ya doing?
Is life treating you good?
Are you happy now?
I hope you are.
I hope everything is working out for you.
I hope you can find what you're looking for.
You know you can never go back.
You know you can't change what has already been done.
You have to look forward.
We have to look forward.
The past can not be undone.
We have to look forward.
No more pointless day dreaming.
No more thinking of "what if."
I only hope that you're happy with the decisions you've made.
I only hope that this is what you wanted.
Did it play out the way you wanted?
Did your life turn out the way you planned?
Did all your expectations get filled?
Was I holding you back?
I'm sorry if I was.
I thought you wanted more.
I thought you wanted better.
Better than what you grew up with.
Better than what we had.
Obviously better than what we had.
I'm sorry for everything.
Everything that added to nothing.
Obviously nothing is what I had to offer.
Good thing you didn't take it.
I love you.

April 7, 2006

It was just an ordinary day,
Until the sky turned black.
People going on their way,
Concern for the weather, they lack.

Weather bulletins given little thought,
We proceed forth with the agenda at hand.
Never imagining to our safe lives would be wrought,
Such destruction to our land.

Suddenly there was great wind,
The hail and rain did fall.
Tornadoes from the air descend,
Their wrath revealed to all.

Everywhere chaos broke out,
In peoples hearts terror reigned.
Our very lives were turned and tossed about,
Fear we did not feign.

Lives were injured and lost,
Bringing such sadness and void.
Material things wildly were tossed,
Homes and businesses destroyed.

Peoples lives forever changed,
In the twinkle of an eye.
Never again to be the same,
Due to dark clouds in the sky.

This too we shall rise above,
And peace we’ll have again.
Our communities that we so love,
Support and help we’ll send.

Tho we don’t understand why this fate we met,
Or it’s purpose for our life.
There’s a lot of work to do just yet,
And task that add to the strife.

Much brighter days ahead will be,
And will help to erase this painful time.
We’ll look back on this day with a solemn memory,
Homes and businesses rebuilt, our lives will again be fine.

Bulletins we’ll more seriously take,
With a new respect you’ll see.
Slow decisions we won’t dare to make,
Tornado warnings we will heed.

Another lesson we’ve learned from this,
As we go out for the day.
Leave your loved ones with words of love and a kiss,
And for their safety always pray.
